It's Still You
A poem from the late night emotions of well, me.
Despite everything, it's still you,
When you look in the mirror seeing that face you despise,
When you're alone crying into your pillow at night,
You know damn well it's a pathetic sight.
This simple fact, and you know it's true,
That against all odds... its still you.
From the dark you smiled,
And had people help you from that shadowy isle,
People around you to show that you're not alone.
But the thoughts are still there,
With all the kindness you show, it only makes the pain more aware,
That piece of you is still missing.
And not matter what you do, it'll still sting...
Its still you,
Wanting to mend what isn't broken,
Apologizing if it means an end,
To scream into an empty void they can't hear,
With tears falling from your eyes,
You write your sorrows tonight,
And these feelings you know they aren't right,
A painful feeling that keeps you up some nights.
Try to imagine a world where its not there.
You think that they still care?
In the end it doesn't matter, you'll just be met with dead air...
It's still you,
Pushing past the pain the best you can,
Just so you can forget and then-
Night falls and the only thing there is your thoughts,
Of how things should have been,
And whether you're enough,
But even still,
It's still you...
