Life Among the Stars: Intro

Have you ever looked up at the stars and wondered what might be out there? Yeah, me neither. Maybe if I had I'd be having a better time right now. I guess I should give my name and where I'm from, it looks like I'll be here a while. My name's Ynali Xavonaso (En-all-ee Zav-uhn-ass-uh) and I'm from Malath (Mal-ath). Why am I here? They liked how I look. That's the stupidest reason I've ever heard, and they're scientists, you think they could've had a better reason than that. I don't really know who's going to get to listen to this, but I suppose I should tell everything that's happened so far. Alright, where to start... I've got it. It was a dark and stormy night... nah, I'm kidding, but it was at night. Okay, so I was out camping, yeah, camping. The old-fashioned way, err... really old-fashioned way, just me and nature, no tent, nothing but a knife. Why would I be doing that in the first place? Easy, I needed money and a group of people pooled together a lot of it and bet me I couldn't survive for three days on my own out there. So there I was, looking for something to make a fire with, and I started feeling like I was tingling all over, after a few seconds it stopped and I just blew it off as something to do with being out alone. That is, until I appeared in the ship. Yes, I was teleported. I've seen some of these creatures' entertainment clips from the last century or so, and you don't just fade out in blue sparkles like Captain Kirk, Spock, and all them. It takes longer than that for one, and you don't fade out, it's almost instantaneous disappearing, then reappearing where they sent you. Do you realize just how amazing it is that they found a way to scan things entirely, literally everything, convert them to energy, and then back to matter? I still can't understand them when they try explaining it. I'm getting off topic again, they teleported me onto the ship, I guess they thought I was like their domesticated animals, I have to admit, the resemblance is astounding, especially since they set their teleporter to only transport the living organism, not the clothes and other items, they'd been expecting an animal after all, and they wanted it done as quick as they could. Then I asked them where the hell I was and what the hell they were doing, and they freaked out, some guy, now I know he was a Marine, came in and pointed a gun a my chest. If it wasn't for that, I'dve ripped him to shreds, these things have no natural defenses I can see, they're just skin, they don't even have fur, except on top of their heads. Basically, I don't see how they managed to survive long enough to evolve to the most intelligent species on their planet. That's not important really, the point is, I got thrown into a small room by myself, still with no clothes. It seems they weren't expecting sentient life, so none of the scientists here were specialized in anything that might've been of value, it's pretty much just biologists. Some for plants, others for animals, but none for things like them. After a few days, where they pretty much threw raw meat at me to eat and slid in a bowl of water to drink, I think they finally realized there might be some political implications with their treatment of the only other sentient being they'd ever found. That's when they started trying to teach me their language, and the food got a whole helluva lot better. For scientists, they're really not very smart, they tried teaching me by relating pictures of things from their planet, instead of mine, which didn't get much done. It was actually one of the few Marines on board as a security force that finally figured out I wouldn't have a clue what any of the things were and suggested they use pictures of the life on my planet. We made good progress after that, and now, about two weeks later, even though they still can't find any clothes big enough to fit me, I can speak the language they call English. They said I was a fast learner, which I can't disagree with, it's always been true. One of the first things they did was give me a nickname, I don't really mind. Oh, it's Kitsu* (Kit-sue), apparently I look like something from one of their legends, they said the simplest explanation was a nine-tailed fox, and I can't deny it looks like an Iera (Eye-ee-ruh). Now, I don't think they understand how well I can hear, because I've picked up a few words I don't think they'd like me to know. The Marines have a certain affinity with one of them. They hardly have a sentence without it when their not around the scientists, it's always fu- Audiolog ended.

This'd be the Sci-Fi series I'll be starting up. With school starting, I have no idea how long this is going to take. Yes, I realize that Kitsune is not pronounced like that. English speakers kill other languages all the time, this is just another example. By all means, share your thoughts.
