"BURN! BURN! BURN!" - Traitor Nova Germanian's War Cry

Just as quickly as the fire burned the beaches, burned sand to glass, burned soldiers to ashes, the fire receded.

Dion coughed and gagged. Ashes spewed from her mouth and nostrils. She had a layer of soot covering her fur, making her look grey instead of navy-blue. Small clumps of dirt, sand and ashes floated through the air. The air itself was still warm and smelled of charred bodies, fur, hair and flesh.

Dion had the urged to gag more then a hairball. It was sickening, the stench. She needed to get moving and up the cliff.

Dion removed her legs from around the Wolf's waist and her arms from his neck. She looked up and nudged the Wolf who saved her life. The back of her hands where singed and tender, and in her palms where clumps of the Wolf's fur.

Again she nudged at him, and again, he did not move.

"Come on, we need to get up! We're almost their! Come on!" She kept pushing and nudging, then began to cry. She buried her head in his chest again, trying to fight back tears.

Suddenly, he moved, and painfully, looked down at her.

"Go...take care...of...her..." His eyes where burnt, his lips where gone, his entire face charred and burnt. His grip on the rope slacked, then he let go. Dion felt the shifting weight and grabbed hold of the rope. His lifeless body plummeted to the ground, into the bonfires that burned in pockets up and down the beach. In a sickening crunch, his body hit the beach.

Dion closed her eyes and cried as she dangled above the beaches. She cried uncontrollably. She just wanted it all to end. The war, the fighting, the death, she just wanted to end it all.

She cried and cried. The guns sill firing, the cannons still a blazing. Eagles cried as they fought both Komets and OLO-SAM Batteries (Organic Lock On-Surface to Air Missiles). Plasmid discharge slowly filed the air again, cannons and guns of both sides echoed through the air.

She would have hung there, like a lynched traitor, if it where not for someone shaking the rope from below.

"Hey! Hey yo-shit!" An artillery shell landed too close to the Turtle, who brought her arm up to stop dirt and charred parts that flew into her face. A unit of other Turtles followed up behind her, some staring up eagerly, others jittering nervously.

"Dam it! Get yourself untangled! We need to get off the beach and clear the way for the 2nd Army! Fuck!" Another shell landed to close, and threw one of the Turtles into the unit, knocking them over like bowling pins.

"For the love of Darwin...Get up! Get up the rope!" she then pointed up to Dion, "You too! Tell your Elite that the Armor Core has landed!" with that, the Turtle began to climb the rope, her unit following behind.

Dion got her arm untangled and swung herself to face the wall. She shimmed up, and, finally, crawled over the cliff lip.

On her stomach and crawling forward, the first thing she saw was the body of the shredded Lizard. She felt like gagging again. His blood had dripped down the cliff, his entrails that had not been destroyed hanged out of open holes, his face contorted in pain.

She gazed away, and saw the Lion still taking cover in a shell hole.

"Dam it! Keep your head down and get over here!" A plasmid shell landed a few feet away and the Lion covered his head as dirt rained down on him.

Dion did as she was told and crawled over and into the hole. She slid in and failed a bit as she upright her self. She repositioned her chest plate and knocked the dirt out of her Revolver. She patted down her plate and legs to make sure she was all there and in one piece.

"Where did you get that Revolver?" shouted the Lion.

"A dead Feline Elite!" A Clunker shell exploded near by, showing them in more dirt.

"Shit! Where are the rest of the troops?"

"Angle of Stalin took them to Hell!"

"Fuck! Are there anymore troops landing?" Bullets pelted the ground.

"Yeah! Armor Core has landed and is almost up the cliff! 2nd Army is on their way!"

The Lion held his Rifle up and fired off a few shots. As he did, a few Turtles shells rolled into the hole. The female Turtle popped out of her shell, as did half of her unit; they all clamored up to their feet and pulled out their compact Armadillo Pistols, tri-barrelled and faster firing prefilled plasma rounds.

"Lieutenant JoJo von Waspak, 53rd Unit, 1st Armor core, 2nd Company, 3rd Division, , reporting for duty!"

"Elite Widmer Robson!" the Lion leaned forward and shook her hand, then leaned back and fired a few more shots. "What are your targets?"

"We're storming Pointe Du Hoc and planting some TNT on those Cannon Bunkers! You?"

"The same cannons as you, and beyond the trenches up there are a few OLO's that need to be taken care of! Any other men behind you?"

"There are some reinforcements behind us, but I don't know how soon they will arrive!"

"We can't stay here!" Another shell and some more bullets pelted the ground. "Dam it all! You there," He pointed to Dion. "Think you can get over to the other holes to the East and bring back some men? We need to start moving forward!"

Dion stared at him blankly.

"Dam it... Here!" He took out his Scorpion Sub Machine Gun, took her right hand, and placed the gun in her hand. She curled her hand around the handle and placed her index figure on the trigger.

"Jump through the shell holes! We'll cover you for a few feet, but you need to fend for yourself after! Hurry! And if you reach the British, then you've gone too far! Now go!"

Dion closed her eyes for a second, and then she opened them, and positioned herself in a ready stance. She checked the ammo clip then popped out the Revolver's cylinder, removed the one fired round, then flicked the cylinder closed.

"Alright, the rest of you, get up to the lip of the hole and start firing!" Dion faced the East and stance to run.

"Ready?" the Lion paused for a moment. "Covering Fire!"

The Lion and Turtles began to fire their rifles and pistols respectively. Dion ran out of the hole and dove into the next one. She continued hopping form hole to hole.

She neared an iron bunker that had a massive burn hole directly in front, out if its view port. Jumping into a hole, she found in it, a cowering, curled up white Bunny, her fur stained with dirt and blood. She was scared, twitching and bellowing.

"Oh my Darwin..." Dion crawled into the hole, more firing and shells landing around them. "Are you all right?"

"N...N...No..." the Bunny whimpered.

"We're are you hurt?"

"I...I...I'm n...Not...Not hurt..."

Dion gazed down at the Bunny. She had empty plasmid casings around her and an empty Greyhound Rifle she was curled around. Her ears where bent low in front of her face and small hands covering her eyes, tears streaming out.

The Bunny was pitiful and small. Dion leaned over and picked her up.

She was no bigger then the revolver and shorter then a rifle! Dion brought the bunny to her own chest, which swung her arms around Dion's neck.

Dion took a step back and spoke gently into the Bunnies ear. "Alright... Listen, I have to take you back to my commanding Eli-"

"NO!" cried the Bunny, who then dug her head into Dion's chest.

"Fine, carrying you on my back would throw off my balance when I run, so..." Dion looked down, gently moved the Bunny out of her view, and pulled her chest plate forwards a bit, "I think my chest plate is a little to big for-What the?!"

The Bunny had seen a chance to jump down her plate and squirmed around, causing Dion to fall over and burst out laughing. Finally, the Bunny popped her head out, facing Dion and had the sweetest, most relieved face of joy.

Dion simply stared for a moment, and reached to pet the Bunny, asking "What's your name?"

"Um..." The little Bunny withdrew her head into Dion's plate, and then with a little look of pity, or embarrassment, said, "Sugar..."

A sudden shell brought the two from their moment, and Dion clamored up to her feet and started to run to the next shell hole. "Keep your head in when I'm running, ok?" The two where nearing another bunker, with an active machinegun firing onto the beaches. Dion wondered how many it had torn in half.

In the next hole, Dion found two Huskies and a Greyhound preparing to storm a Bunker. Dion slid in to the hole, and the three turned instantly onto their backs and pointed their rifles.

Dion stared back for a moment and they lowered their guns.

"Who the hell are you?" asked the first Husky. He had a Sergeant insignia on his right shoulder.

"Private Dion Sonata, sir!"

Then the Bunny popped her head out, "And Corporal Sugar reporting for duty, sir!"

The Bunny simply smiled while everyone stared at her, or wondering how flat Dion was to hold a Bunny in her chest plate...

The Sergeant shook his head. "Alright, I'm Duff Knight, this here to my left is simply Ed," the silver Husky gave a nod, "and to my right is Vita van Dyke." The brown Husky gave a simple wave. "and we are about to storm this bunker and plant some TNT Ed is carrying," Ed tapped a satchel he had slung across his shoulders, "then move forward with reinforcements."

"I landed and scaled the wall with Elite Widmer. He sent me to gather up some men and prepare to storm an Pointe Du Hoc! Please, you need to come back with me to his shell hole!" More artillery landed around them.

"Not until we destroy this bunker! It has already killed too many of your troops! It took half my squad! You can help us or go back to your Elite, we will destroy this machine gun one way or another!" retorted the Greyhound.

Dion stared at the three, and then gazed down to Sugar.

"Fine! What do you need me to do?"

"You see that view port? Put some plasma in it! And you, rabbit-"

"Bunny!" shouted Sugar.

"Alright! Bunny! When we open the door, drop this grenade and jump out the view port towards Dion! Got it? We'll go in after the explosion and clear it out!"

"Right!" the four responded.

"Go go go!"

Sugar jumped out of Dion's plate and into the trench in front of the bunker, the Huskies and Greyhound positioning themselves to the left and right of the door. Dion climbed up a mound and aimed the Scorpion at the Gunner, completely unaware of the surrounding enemies.

The machineguns were deafening this close them! The Vavidas that are usually used for emplacements where replaced by Ostrogoths .70 caliber Heavy Machine Guns. They were in typical Clunker thinking, the bigger the better, and Ostrogoths where a prime example of this. They had barrels twice the length of an Eagle Eye Sniper Rifle, and the main body was about as wide as a 50mm cannon and had two side drums the length and width of Jaguar Rocket Launchers. They fired at what could be considered a slow rate for machineguns, but at three rounds per trigger pull, they could punch a hole in most unreinforced boats and transports. The most frightening thing about them, though, was the fact that each burst sound like a small Quarter-pounder AT Artillery firing.

Still, the guns had to be silenced.

So Dion waited in tell she heard Clunkers screaming in Russian and German before firing into the machine gunners. She only shot one Clunker, but he had seen his death. But then she remembered how they burned and shot hundreds of her Allies. The Clunkers in front of her where screaming and shouting, laughing and saying things in their language. One pointed and laughed as their gun ripped open an Anthro's skull.

She pulled the trigger. Their skulls evaporated and dissolved as plasmid hit their face.

Inside, as Dion pelt the gunners to make sure they where dead, or with a new her found rage, Sugar ran in with a grenade between her teeth. Clunkers screamed and shouted as they saw her scamper around corners of Murder-Holes and Death-Turns. She almost took a wrong turn into the lower levels of the bunker where the radiomen and officer was stationed.

Sugar double-backed on her self and found the right path to the view port. A Clunker tried to step on her, but she dove to the right and rolled into the viewing area. She shouted "Can't touch this shit!" She swung her head and forced the grenade from the pin between her teeth. She screamed "Eat it, bitches!" before jumping out the view port.

Dion scooped Sugar up and held her close to her chest as she dove inside the nearest hole. The grenade detonated and was amplified by the confined spaces of the bunker. Plasmid spewed out of the view port and around Murder-Holes, and out the door.

The remaining three moved in and cleared out the lower level. Ed set up the TNT on spare ammo boxes while Vita and Duff looked for any intelligence information.

Fruitless, the three moved back up the bunker and waited as Ed set up another TNT bundle between the guns. He got up and strung out some wire, connected it to the other one leading to the basement, then out the door to the group. He lit a match and lit the wire end.

"Best we be going." He said in a mild, matter-as-fact tone. The five processed back to Widmer, stopping only briefly to watch their handy work.

The first TNT bundle on the upper level detonated on the shortest wire. The force ripped a medium sized hole in the view port and decimated the two guns, ripping them from their tripods. The second TNT bundle detonated and destroyed the bunker for beneath, the explosion sending up a plum of fire and smoke, along with chunks of Iron ranging from the size of a fist to a Semi tire!

"Good work boys and girls! I think we'll get a promotion for this!" joked Duff.

"Eh, a medal would do!" poked Vita with a sly grin.

"Come on, Widmer is just over this way!" said Dion. She wanted to get back to the Lion; he just made her feel safe in this hell hole.
