Online Dateing chapter 5: The beginning of the rest of our lives

"So.... What should we do now?" Will asked.
The two of us are sitting on a hill. School had ended the day before and now we were both high school graduates. We had both sent out applications for the same college and were waiting for the replies. So for our first day done with school we had so far, gone to a party with a bunch of other seniors to celebrate graduation. It had been fun but it hadn't been enough for the day.
It's six o'clock pm and we are relaxing in the light of the summer sun and enjoying the light breeze and each other's company. I snuggled up to Will and rested my head on his chest. I hadn't gained anymore weight, it's not that I had tried but I seemed to be permanently placed at this level of pudge, (and it's not much at all). I nuzzled Will happily. He smiled down at me and waited for my response.
"Well we could go swimming maybe..." I suggested.
"hehe. You do love swimming don't you?" He asked teasingly.
Every time Will asked what I wanted to do the answer was usually swimming. I couldn't help it. I love to swim. So Will and I lay there for a few more minutes before Will sits up and picks me up. I giggled a little as he cradled me in his arms and walked towards the car. When we got to the car He put me down gently and I went around to the other side to get into the passenger's seat. Will got in and started the car. We drove off towards his house.
When we got there we said hi to his parents real fast and grabbed our swimming trunks and towels then headed back out. We drove for about twenty minutes when Will pulled up to the beach.
"Oooh! I thought we'd go to the pool but this is much better! Thank you so much!" I said as I hugged Will tightly after getting out of the car.
"I knew you'd like it!" Will said as we walked out onto the beach.
I was smiling enormously. The feel of the soft sand under my flip-flops, the smell of the salt in the air, the warmth of the sun, and of course all of the other furs having a great time on the beach. Will picked out a spot on the sand and laid his towel out. I laid mine next to his and quickly ran to the bathrooms to get changed.
By the time Will got to the changing room, I was already charging out with the clothes I had been wearing before, in my arms. I dumped them onto my beach towel and took off my flip-flops. I then ran back to the changing rooms and grabbed Will as he came out. He laughed as I dragged him back to the towels to put his stuff away. He dropped his clothes on his towel and then ran towards the water.
I laughed and chased after him as he jumped in and waded until the water was up to his waist. I got out to him and hugged him again.
"Will... This is great. Thank you so much." I thanked him as he hugged me back.
"You're welcome Drin." He said
After about a minute of us just hugging a large wave hit Wills back and submerged me. I came back up and swam out to deeper water where I couldn't touch the bottom with my paws. Will joined me and we splashed around for a little while then I saw a large wave coming and tried belly surfing. I failed.... I only went about two feet before the wave had gotten ahead of me.
I tried again with the next wave and went a little farther. Will swam beside me watched as I tried to belly surf. He chuckled at me and got out of the water. I watched as he went and sat down on his towel and smiled at me. I smiled back and he laid back and started sunning himself. Deciding to let him enjoy himself, I swam back out and splashed around for a while in the deeper water.
I decided that with Will asleep on his towel I could pull a little prank. I used a bucket I found in the sand to wet the sand around our towels then I went to work. After about ten minutes I had a foot high sand wall all the way around our spot. I built little towers at spots and then wet outside the wall to dig a moat. Once I was satisfied with the moat I proceeded to fill it with water.
When it looked like a castle from the outside I went back in and built the main castle right next to Will. It wasn't the best sand castle but at least I tried. Deciding that was good enough I went and washed off in the water then came back up to where Will was still sound asleep. I laid down on my towel the yelled
"OH NO! There's a giant dragon terrorizing the kingdom!"
Will jumped awake and accidentally knocked over half the castle.
"W-what?" Will looked around startled and then laughed and looked at me. "Very funny hun."
Will yawned and stretched as he stood up, taking down the rest of the castle in the process. He smiled and helped me up. I knew what he was going to say.
"Hun, you ready to go home?" He asked.
"Yea I guess we can go now if you want." I said as I wrapped my arms around his waist.
"Okay then, let's go wash up at the showers first." Will led the way.
We got out of the castle I'd built and he leaned over and gave me a kiss. I smiled and wrapped my tail around his.
"Dude! Did you see that? Those two guys just kissed!"
"Jeez. That's so gay!"
"HEY! You fags over there! Get a room!"
This was followed by laughter. I turned my head to see a monkey and a couple of rats laughing at us near the water. I glared angrily at them but they only laughed harder.
"Don't worry about them Drin. They're just jerks." Will said trying to get me to look away.
I gave in and leaned my head on his arm as we entered the locker room. The laughter suddenly stopped and I looked up to see Will giving them a death glare. I smiled. The three guys went back to whatever it was they had been doing before and Will and I rinsed ourselves in the water then went back to the car.
I got in the passenger seat quietly and Will started the car. I just slumped down in the seat and looked out the window. After about five minutes of silence Will asked,
"What's wrong hun?"
"It's just.... It's not fair.... Why do people just not get it...?" I said sadly.
"Are you talking about at the beach?" Will asked.
"Yea...."
"Well... people just don't realize that gender doesn't matter, people are ignorant and we can't do anything to stop it..." Will sighed.
"It's just not fair though.... Why must we suffer for their ignorance? I'm tired of hearing that horrible word... 'Fag'.... It's so... so...." I couldn't end the sentence.
Will stayed quiet until we got to his house again and we went upstairs to take a real shower. I got undressed with Will and turned on the water. Once it was warm enough we both stepped in. I turned around and wrapped my arms around Will's waist, leaning my head against his stomach. Will knew I was still upset so he just started washing my back as I hugged him close.
Will grabbed the shampoo bottle and pored some on my back. It felt great as he rubbed it into my fur and I couldn't help but smile a little.
"That's better. I don't want my Drin to be sad." Will said as he rubbed the shampoo in.
"I'm sorry Will.... I just hate how people treat us..." I said as I squeezed his waist.
"I know hun... I know..." Will kissed me and started washing himself.
I unwrapped my arms from around him and stepped into the water so that I could rinse off. Once I was rinsed off I moved out of the way for Will and he rinsed himself. Once all the soap was down the drain Will turned off the water and I grabbed our towels. I dried him off then dried myself as he led the way back to his room.
I walked in behind him and turned off the lights. Will wrapped his tail around my waist and pulled me over to the bed where I crawled under the covers and scooted over to the other side and Will got under the covers behind me. I smiled and closed my eyes as Will's arms hugged me close to his body and I fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up and noticed Will wasn't in bed with me. I sat up and yawned as I looked around the room. Where was he? I got out of bed and dressed. Heading downstairs I heard Will's parents talking.
"So you have your choice. You've been accepted to two colleges already, which one you gonna pick?" I heard Will's father say.
"Honey, don't rush him. Will you take your time and choose the one you like the best." Will's mom said.
"I have to wait and see." Will said as I entered the kitchen where they were gathered around two letters on the table.
"Drin, we need to head over to your house and see if your letters came in. You should get something to eat first."
Will's mom smiled at me as she said good morning and asked me what cereal I would like for breakfast. Will's dad was looking through the different letters and trying to get Will to pick. Will sat next to me with his arm across my shoulders. I smiled as Will's mom gave me breakfast and thanked her. Then suddenly, before I knew it, I was done, we were in the car and driving to my house to see if the college letters had come in.
We got to my house and pulled in the driveway. I went to the mailbox and it was empty. That's when my mom opened the door and called us in.
"It's here hun! Don't worry I didn't open it yet. Let's see it!" she beckoned us in energetically.
I walked in with Will behind me and we sat on the living room couch as my mom brought in the letter. Will and I had signed up for all of the same colleges and here we had only one that I was accepted to so far. I opened it quickly. Will looked over my shoulder and smiled.
"Looks like we got a match and it's a good one." Will said smiling at me. "But let's wait a few days to see if there are any more."
"Hopefully there are..." I said looking at the letter.
It wasn't that it was a bad school. It was just that I was upset that I had only gotten accepted by one so far. So we waited and another letter came to each of us. We decided to stick with the first one. We decided to go out and meet Jake at the mall and tell him where we were going. We got there first and waited on one of the benches out front. Well... Will sat on the bench, I sat on his lap.
Jake arrived and we went into the mall and to the food court. We got lunch and then Jake looked at us expectantly.
"Well?" he asked impatiently.
"We are going to Kren University!" Will and I announced simultaneously.
Jake smiled and laughed loudly. We waited for him to calm down so he could explain.
"That's amazing!" he said after catching his breath "That's where I'm going as well!"
We all laughed and smiled at the great news. It meant I wasn't leaving my childhood friend and that was great. I had been upset before about not being able to see him but now it was all right. I then ate my food with a smile on my face the entire time. After lunch, we went and just explored the mall for a while then decided it was time to go home. Will and I said goodbye to Jake and went to Will's car.
We arrived home and went out to the back yard where we just sat under one of the trees. I could hear and smell my mother cooking something through the open windows to the kitchen. "I'm really going to miss her...." I said quietly. Will knew what I was talking about.
"Don't worry. We'll still be able to visit our parents for holidays." He said as he kissed my cheek softly. "Besides, we'll be too swamped with work to think of our families."
I giggled and snuggled into his side. Will was a little worried too, I knew he was, but he was still cheering me up. He is so great... I kissed him and got up, getting him up as well. I dragged him into the house and pushed him back onto the couch. He laughed a little as I jumped onto his lap with the T.V. remote balanced on my head. I was determined to make him happy.
Will took the remote and put it on the table next to the couch without turning on the T.V. I looked at him questioningly.
"I wanna talk." He said seriously.
"About?..." I asked with a sad expression, I thought he would give me bad news or something.
"Well for starters, what kind of housing would you like to live in while we're at college? Dorms? A house? The later is more expensive but would be much better..." he looked at me uncertainly.
I sat there for a minute thinking about it.
"You're right about the house.... But we'd need to get jobs while we're there if we were to pay for it. I could look around the campus before we move there." I said smiling a bit to myself that he was just thinking about our future.
"Well that brings up the next question, how much do you think we'll be able to be together? I mean I don't think we'll be taking the same classes, or even have the same lunch time, then with the jobs we'd see each other even less..." he said frowning.
"Well we'll still see each other at night, in bed..." I said sharing his frown.
"We both know that wouldn't be enough." Will said as he kissed me lightly. "How will we make it work?"
I wasn't sure. I knew that everything he said made sense and I really didn't want to get stuck in dorms, I'd experienced them before, not fun. A house was definitely best. Probably best to just get an apartment. As long as it has plenty of space for us. I could live with that, just as long as I needed to. I just don't know what Will would be alright with.
"Will, would you be able to handle time away from me and promise to try hard to get time together? I could try..." I asked uncertainly.
"I could try too, but really we need to wait and see how things go before we go talking like this. That's all that was really bothering me, if you want we could snuggle." Will said with a smile as he kissed my cheek.
I couldn't resist, I wanted to be off that subject as well and snuggling was my favorite thing. I smiled happily, pushing all thoughts of college out of my head and wrapping my arms around Will's chest as I rubbed my face into his collar. Will wrapped his arms around me as well and we sat there snuggling for a good while.
"So shouldn't you two be packing?" my mom said from the doorway.
I sighed, college wasn't going to give me any time with Will.
"Mom, we don't even know where we're going to stay..." I said looking at her with the not-now-we-already-went-over-this look.
"Well then you should at least head over and see what there is in the area of selection." She said with a smile.
"Mom... It's almost dark out, don't you think it's a bit late for that?" I asked with a frown
Will let go of me and I slid off his lap and into the seat next to him, he turned around a smiled at my mom I felt his tail tug at mine and I realized I was being a little rude.
"Don't worry Drin, I'm just teasing you, by the way dinner's ready." With that she walked back into the kitchen and I heard her pull out a chair and start eating.
Will and I got up and went to eat.
A few days later Will and I finally are at the campus, we kind of held it off for a while..... but anyways, we are just here to look at houses and see what places are looking to hire. We passed by a few houses for sale but all were way too much. Then we came to the end of one street and saw a rent sign out front and it was fairly cheap, the sign read:
For rent: There is a bedroom open with its own bathroom with shower, queen sized bed the room is large with a dresser and closet, along with two nightstands. It's on the first floor and is right next to the kitchen. The rent is just fifty bucks a month to the landlord upstairs.
Special conditions: You must be fun to be around and ready for randomness, also it would be wise to lock your door at night for fear of sleepwalking landlord. Also note that the fridge is always stocked but it is always nice to help pay for pizza. Last rule, just have a good time and enjoy what you can of your stay in college!
Looked great, everything there sounded good and the landlord sounded like a nice person. We decided we'd have to contact the landlord later on. Will looked at the phone number at the bottom of the sign and copied it down.
All that was left to do now was find where we could work, hopefully something close to the house. We walked around and saw a few places, I had my eye on a waiter job at one of the restaurants close by. Will on the other hand didn't really see much. We decided to head back to the restaurant and see if I could get the job. We arrived at the Slip, as it was called, and walked in, the place was dead, and the only other fur we could see was the waitress behind the counter, a small, gray bunny girl with bright red hair.
She looked up at us without interest then went back to the magazine she had on the counter. I walked up to her and asked.
"So, who can I see about getting a job?"
She slowly looked up at me the pointed with a thumb to the door in the back. I smiled, trying to be polite, and went with Will to the door that read 'Manager'. I knocked twice and heard a gruff voice from inside the room growl "come in", so I did. Will followed right behind me into the small, slightly furnished room. There was a small desk, two chairs and a lamp. Behind the desk was a larger chair and in it an even larger gray wolf.
"So are you here for the job?" asked the wolf.
The wolf, or Mr. Gung, (as the name plate on his desk read) was large. He had to be around at least seven feet tall and the gut sitting on his lap looked like a beach ball. He is wearing a checkered shirt and black tie.
"Umm, y-yes I'm here to see about the waiter job" I said sheepishly
"Well let's see..." he started.
Mr. Gung motioned for me to sit and then started the interview. It took about ten minutes before he said I could have the job, I told him when I could start and he agreed. Then, looking up at Will, Mr. Gung suddenly asked.
"Can you cook?"
"Uh, I guess, just a bit." Will answered, caught off guard.
"Well would you like to train with our cook and help him out?"
"Sure! That sounds great!" Will said enthusiastically.
I smiled happily, we just found more time together. We could now work together! So Will and I both got jobs in the same restaurant and had made plans with our new boss for when we could start. We left happily and made our way to the car.
"Well I'd say that worked out perfectly." I said happily as I drove us home.
We got back to my house in time for dinner and ate happily. My mom looks at us and, already knowing the answer, asked.
"So how did it go?"
"It went pretty well. We got jobs, and we think we might have a place to stay!" I answered enthusiastically.
"Really? That is really good!" she said happily "I didn't think you'd get a job that fast! So what is it?"
"I'm going to be a waiter at a restaurant called the Slip. Will is going to train under their cook." I explained
"That's nice. I hope you two know what you're getting into. Restaurants aren't easy to work at sometimes." She said as she went back to her meal
I figured that the conversation was over and went back to my dinner as well.
We finished up our packing and said our farewells. It was hard to leave home but since the landlord had called back saying we could take the room, it was time to go. So here we find ourselves standing in front of the house we're going to be staying in. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. This is the beginning of a whole new chapter of our lives. I turn and look at Will, he smiles at me and leans in to kiss me.
That's when the white fur ball with black spots jumps up in between us, throwing an arm across each of our shoulders.
"You're my bitch and you're my bitch and I'm your pimp mama!" says the fur ball.
I jumped back in surprise, heart pounding in my chest. I look at the fur ball and realize it's a girl snow leopard, she's tall, about two heads shorter than Will and still easily a head taller than me. She's wearing very vibrant colors and is smiling happily. Her big fluffy tail is sticking straight up behind her.
"W-who are you?" I asked
"Hmm?" her smile disappears and she looks at me questioningly "I'm the landlord! You can call me Alex though."
The landlord?! She looked maybe a year older than me. But now that I think about it she does look a bit right to fit the description on the sign that was out front when we came by before.
"Well Alex, could you please let me go? I kind of need to get these bags inside." Will cut in
"Oh yea of course!" She jumped back smiling at us and waited for us to collect our bags then hurried us inside.
Once inside she turned to us and smiled again.
"This is gonna be a fun year it seems! Oh but I was wondering, you guys sure you're all right about sharing a room? I thought that was kind of strange." She asked kindly
"I should hope so, what kind of couple can't sleep together?" Will wrapped his arm around me and I giggled as I was lifted lightly off the ground.
The snow leopard cursed and frowned.
"I guess this means my chances with the big guy are very small then huh?" she smiled "Just messing with you. I'm glad to see you're happy together. Oh! Again one more thing. You still haven't told me your names!"
"I'm Will" Will said
"And I'm Drin" I said
"Okay then it's official!" She exclaimed
"What is?" I asked
"We're all now best friends!" she yelled as she glomped us to the ground laughing.
Yep, this is the next chapter in our lives, looks promising doesn't it?
I'm sorry it took so freakishly long to get this one done. you know what they say, procrastination killed the cat... or somthing... anyways I hope you enjoyed it and if you didn't I'm sorry, I had problems writing this one for some reason. but I hope my plans for the next chapters run smoothly.
