"Whew.. well that certainly was a new experience!" Shade chuckled to herself, hopping out of a portal that she had opened as she landed back in her own world, right in the middle of the Ochre Forest. "I don't know what those travellers were so worried about, those monsters all seemed nice and friendly once I got to know them~"

"Shade, you're back!" Dusk's familiar voice chirped, calling out to her as he stepped out of the awaiting mansion. "I was starting to worry, especially cause Haimogwen's doing his usual text-to-speech puppet stuff and there's only so long I can keep humouring him before my brain...starts...to..." He paused, looking at Shade. "...heh - did you decide to go local?"

"Hrm? Oh!" She smirked - rather than being in her typical raven form, she appeared to be in the form of an owlbear, only slightly larger and bustier. "I thought it might put their minds at ease if their guest was one of their own. Of course, one thing kinda led to another - didn't know it was their breeding season!"

"Oho, so that means you probably got a few extra samples!" Dusk winked. "Good to know - I'd be interested to see how you'd whip up some owlbear potions!"

"It shouldn't be too hard - I got some samples of chromatic dragons the last time I was there, all I gotta do is browse the bestiary a little more, pick out a few more fun critters, and we could have our own little D&D game!"

"Sweet! Then again, you don't have to stick to just D&D stuff, I mean, you've managed to bring some critters over from other worlds as well~" Dusk gestured to a field full of various Pokémon, with some relaxing near a fountain.

"What can I say, it helps to have them close by so I can relax with them in my downtime, or have them train up with any human I make into a Pokémon as well~" She giggled - of course, all the Pokémon here weren't of human origin, she was never one to take the human element away unless the target got on her bad side.

"Heh." He smirked. "Makes sense. So what next?"

"Next I better take this stuff indoors and put it away safely, then I can get back to normal. Well, unless you wanna try anything with this form~" She winked.

"It's tempting..." He chirped, looking at her before being distracted by something from behind her. "Uuhh.."

"Hrm? Something wrong?" She looked where Dusk was looking, and realized that she had forgotten to close the portal behind her. Not only that, but someone had fallen through it.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

"Whoops - guess I forgot that I had opened it a good thirty feet in the air!" She stretched out a clawed arm, using her magic to slow down his fall, alongside guiding him down towards a nearby fountain.

"Wait, Shade, isn't that the fountain with..." Dusk started before the figure landed in the fountain with a loud splash.

"Blmph!" The human gasped, poking his head out from it as he took a look around. "H-how am I still alive?" He asked, pulling himself to the fountain's edge. Upon pulling himself out, he felt as if he was being watched, and looking around himself, he saw that he was being eyed up by a quartet of four large, angry-looking dark-brown birds, each wielding a leek that appeared to be twice the size of itself. From their wet feathers, it was clear that they were bathing in the fountain before his sudden dip, and they weren't pleased about the interruption.

"Errr... nice bir-" He couldn't even finish the statement before one of the leeks connected with his head. Then another with his back, then one each to his sides. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..."

"Oh no, not the Farfetch'd!" Shade palmed her face with her talons, though she appeared to be concealing a smirk. She calmly stepped over towards the unfortunate human.

"W W W W W W W W W W aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa TRIPLE A aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" He blurted out, as if what he was saying was being programmed by a simple text-to-speech program that had no comprehension on how the English language worked.

"Ok boys, I think you've had your fun, why not leave the poor guy alone now?" Shade told them, approaching the group.

"Oooooowwwww..." He groaned as the Farfetch'd stopped their assault - aside from the first one who took one last good swing at his head. "Aaaaaaahhhhhh..." He wheezed, the Farfetch'd letting out a victorious cry before suddenly glowing bright blue. In a matter of seconds, its form and appearance changed, the big leek it was wielding turning into a sword and shield. When the light died down, it now stood slightly taller, its feathers now white, and the angry expression swapped out for one that looked more smug than anything else.

"Huh... guess you must have got in a lot of critical hits on the poor guy!" She said to the new Sirfetch'd, who just smirked at her in response. "Anyway, you ok?" She leant down to the human.

"Aaahh... I think... I think I'll live..." He shakily pushed himself back up into a sitting position. "Thank you for the concern, miss... miss... HOLY CRAP!!!" He froze up, pointing in shock at Shade. "TALKING OWLBEAR!"

"Hoo boy... you'd probably be freaking out at seeing me in my normal form, anyway..." She rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you or anything, so calm down."

"Calm down? CALM DOWN?!" He yelped. "I'm just minding my own business, then the next thing I know, I'm being assaulted by ducks wielding leeks, and staring down a talking owlbear!!"

"OK, for one, those 'ducks' are Farfetch'd, barring the one Sirfetch'd..." Shade started.

"The only thing farfetched right now is what on earth I'm currently dealing with!" He shouted.

"Really? You live in a world full of various monsters, and you're having trouble comprehending this?" Shade tilted her head, stepping closer. "Wait a minute... you look familiar..." She peered closer, almost within pecking distance of him. "...Mao?"

"How... how do you know my name?" He blinked.

"Didn't I turn you into a Cinderace the last time I saw you?" She kept on looking at him. "I mean, you look just like he did before I changed him... either he turned back to normal and mastered interdimensional travel, or each realm has their own Mao!"

"Cinderace, what?" He tilted his head. "I can assure you that I have no clue what you're even talking about, I don't even know any magic!"

"I guess that means you'd fall under the 'alternate Mao' role, then!" She giggled. "That works for me just fine!"

"I... I am so confused, can I just go home please?"

"Aww, but you've only just got here!" She chirped. "You're not leaving here just yet!"

"Of course I'm not..." He sighed. "Alright, what's gonna happen to me?"

"Now that depends entirely on what I feel like doing to you~" She smirked, placing a giant clawed hand on his shoulder, making him wince. "Since you're a Mao from an alternate world, I shouldn't have any complaints about getting frisky with you... but then again, if I ran into the Mao from this world and told him that, I'd probably never hear the end of it from him, so it's probably best I refrain from doing that."

"Frisky... oh god, you don't mean you were gonna try and..." Mao turned red. "Look, I'm flattered, but I'm not the type to go after animals!"

"Well if it helps, I'm both anthropomorphic and sentient, so there's no worries about it counting as bestiality or zoophilia or that stuff~" She grinned mischeviously.

"Please... please stop..." Mao broke into a sweat.

"... well, you're just like my Mao on that front." She tried to stifle a laugh - of all the Maos she could have had stumble in from another world, she found one that was more or less an exact mirror. "OK, so having that kind of fun is out of the question. I'm sure there's other things we can do..." She pondered.

"Dare I even ask?" He went to question her, only to see her eyes light up, quite literally.

"Nope, I just thought of what to do!" She grinned, slashing at his leg with her claws.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" He cried out, stumbling backwards as he fell to the ground, grasping at his bloodied leg. Shade looked at him as he did that, and couldn't help but feel a little bit disappointed.

"Shame... I thought you would have calmly said 'Oh no no no no no no no no' as I attacked you. Oh well, at least your leg isn't perman-enny broken~" She smirked.

Mao just looked up at her with a blank expression - if this were an anime, you'd be able to see the epilepsies above his head. "Uhhhh... excuse me?"

"Great... not only are you another tame Mao, you also lack his sense of humor..." She appeared to scowl. "Guess that's what happens when you come from a world with no modern technology and no poorly animated web videos with text-to-speech voices..."

"It's hard to see the humor in something when you just tried to claw off my leg!" He spat.

"Don't be such a baby!" She glared, causing Mao to fall silent - her u-turn from being silly to being angry was whiplash-inducing. "Again, I'm not looking to kill you, and that injury I just inflicted upon you is temporary at best - well, unless you want it to stick around, give you something that'll turn heads!"

"Oh trust me, I think people are going to notice... this?" He blinked, looking at his leg - whilst the blood was still there, the wound had more or less healed, save some light scarring. "What happened to the cuts?"

"That's just my magic kicking in. You might want to look into undressing sometime soon, though!"

"Me, getting nude in the middle of nowhere? Now I KNOW you're insane - and I told you I'm not into what you're looking for!"

"If you want to leave them on, that's fine - just don't expect them to be in one piece by the time everything's finished..." She smirked.

"Not in one piece? Can you please tell me just what in the HELL you're even-" He paused, a shock going through his body. The scars on his leg seemed to pulse, a dull throb spreading throughout. Taking a look, he noticed greyish-brown feathers poking through the torn fabric of his trousers, the feathers spreading up and down his leg, his other leg following suit soon enough. "F...feathers?"

"Yup, some nice, fluffy feathers!" Shade cooed, Mao's legs thickening, the muscles growing broader, thighs packing on muscle. A few patches of white could be seen around his lower legs, his feet feeling tight in his boots. He attempted to kick them off, but they soon swelled beyond their confines, the leather shredding. His feet were now at least three times their original size and width, the middle toes merging together into a singular digit, the nails on each toe growing out into sharp, medium-sized claws. His feet didn't appear to be too different from that of a human, if one took into account having one toe less, and that his stance was now slightly on the digitigrade side of things, the soles of his feet now sporting pads. "You'd be kinda nude without them!"

"Nude without them? What are you talking about, I've still got clothes on!"

"Yes, and they're going to last for a few more minutes before your body outgrows them." Shade giggled, his legs growing broader still as if to state a fact, the tears in the fabric caused by her claw slash spreading further, struggling to keep his altering form concealed. "I DID give you a chance to disrobe, don't forget that~" She pointed out just as his trousers split apart.

"EEP!" He defensively threw his hands down in front of his crotch, his underwear barely clinging on. A short, stubby tail working its way out from the base of his spine put the pressure on his briefs past their limit, his pants falling around him in tatters.

"Relax, I think you'll find that I've taken all modesty precautions - as said, you're not the first Mao I've worked with!" She told him, swatting his hands away. He was relieved to find that she was being truthful, his nether regions covered by thick, downy fur.

"That's a relief... wait, what am I saying? This still isn't normal!" He responded, his stomach gurgling loudly as it ever so slightly became more rotund, pale brown fur and feathers covering it, pectorals becoming broader and more defined as if to compensate for it.

"Please tell me you're not going to complain through the whole thing, hun..." Shade frowned. "I don't even think my Mao moaned this much as I turned him!"

"And you're telling me this why...?" He cocked his head, the feathers growing over his shoulders, a darker shade of grey.

"You know, I can very easily make you silent, either by magic..." Her left hand glowed brightly. "Or by the more direct approach!" She placed her right hand against Mao's chest, her giant talons tapping against his throat. "And trust me, I have no qualms against getting violent...!"

"I-I'll be good!" He withdrew.

"Please do, I have a feeling you wouldn't like to see me when I'm angry~" She giggled, letting him off, his biceps bulking up, new strength filling his arms whilst the feathers coated them. Patches of white appeared in patterns around his arms, his hands twitching as he went to look at them. "Woah now, you might want to take them back a few inches!" Shade warned, using her magic to pull his hands away from his face.

The middle digits on his hands merged together into one as he tried to pull his hands back up, Shade only strengthening her magical grip on them. "Come on, can't I check out my own ha-AAAH!" He yelped out in surprise as, with little to no warning, giant, deadly, talon-like claws erupted from his fingertips, each the size of meat cleavers. He fell flat on his butt, foaming at the mouth from shock.

"If I hadn't intervened, your brain and eyes would be getting quite acquainted with those new claws of yours. Can't you see how big mine are?" She waved her hand in front of his face. "What's next, if I were to give you a lightsaber, would you be looking into the hilt as you tried to turn it on?"

"I... I didn't think they'd grow out so quickly..." Mao looked like he nearly had a heart attack there and then. Looking at the backs of his hands, the white feathers had formed crescent moon markings, the palms now sporting rough pads.

"My magic does have a tendency to be unpredictable from time to time, but I'm pretty sure you're familiar enough with owlbears from your own world to realize just how big they are in the claw department!" Shade placed her claws on her shoulders. His body was mostly owlbear by now, barring his head.

"I'll keep that in mind for the future... am I... ever gonna go back to being human?" He asked.

"Hun, do I look like the type of creature who'll turn an animal back into a human?" She chuckled at the thought. The feathers worked up his head, his hair falling away, only to be replaced with a broad mane of deep-brown feathers, spreading around his head and upper chest, the fluff on his front also sporting a crescent-moon marking. "Why anyone would want to go back to their normal human life is honestly beyond me!"

His ears elongated to feathery points, moving to the top of his head. His eyebrows grew into a pair of horn-like ridges, lining up neatly with his new ears. He was about to say something else, but a growing numbness in his mouth stopped that, his teeth fusing together into a pair of solid masses, pushing out of his mouth, spreading it wide as the growths formed a broad, sharp beak, the insides lined with small, serrated fangs, nose sinking in and merging with the upper bill, tongue growing pointed to better fit it. His eyes moved to the sides of his head, the irises turning a fiery orange. The changes complete, Mao now stood as a large, semi-imposing owlbear, the beast looking at himself in confusion, trying to comprehend all this.

"So I'm an owlbear now?" He glanced at his form, only slightly smaller than Shade. Considering he was from a world where magic and monsters were the norm, it amused Shade that he was this dumbfounded by his current situation. "And I can still talk?!" He noted his voice - although it was deeper than before, it was still his own.

"Yeah, did you think I was going to turn you into a feral beast? They're fun from time to time, but I'd much rather have someone I can converse with and all!" She chirped.

"I suppose that's an upside, then." He smiled slightly. "Though this is going to take a LOT of getting used to... what am I going to say to my family and friends?"

"I'll take care of that when we cross back over to your realm, though hrm... it's not something I usually deal with. I guess that's the upside of being in a world that's technologically advanced, normally it's up to anyone I transform to get back to their friends or loved ones about their current situation!"

"Safe to assume you're not used to changing people from other worlds, then?" Mao asked.

"Oh I am, but those worlds tend to be a parallel of this world in one way or form... I mean these creatures here are from a world much like this one!" She gestured to the many Pokémon roaming the garden.

"Huh... some of them look like they'd come in handy..." He walked over to a lake, seeing some of them swim by.

"I'll have to see if I can write you up a scroll or something to pass on to your folks, and some form of writing to ensure the town guards don't try to gut you on sight." She giggled. "The last time humans tried to kill me, it really didn't end too well for them!"

"Did... did you kill them?" He gulped.

"Oh no, I simply cursed them and turned them into farm animals." She spoke in a slightly unnerving tone. "Just a bunch of feral, brainless beasts with no recollection to their past lives... it was a fate they sorely deserved."

"Right... remind me never to piss you or any of your friends off, then!" He said. "Anyway, changing the subject - what now?"

"Now you get to spend a bit of time with me so you can get used to your new form, then we'll get you back to your world by nightfall!" She beamed. "I suppose we should start with the basics and get you used to your new talons - why don't ya dive into the lake and fish us up some fresh food?"

"Right, fresh..." He spotted a few creatures swimming on the water's surface. "I think those will do just fine!" He grinned, diving into the lake. A few seconds later, he rose back up, struggling to keep a group of small, blue birds within his grasp.

Shade just stared in disbelief - the water was full of various fish, but it was more than obvious that Mao appeared to suffer a tremendous lapse of judgment, even with the obvious hint she dropped. Still, she couldn't help but smile just a little.

"OH NO, NOT THE DUCKLETTS!"
