RC sat down at placing his tray on the cafeteria table; He looked down at his soy and egg sandwiches and smiled, looking around the large cafeteria while sipping on his milk, one of his favourite drinks. RC, despite his size, was quite soft and well-spoken. He snapped to attention at the sound of a plastic food tray hitting the table and a milk-covered, very unhappy looking Endari sat down.

"Get into an argument again?" RC remarked, trying not to smile, sipping on his box of milk loudly, Fen gave the wolf a dirty look and used one of his napkins to wipe some of it off their face and shirt.

"I confronted Rikona... She keeps cheating, stealing my notes in any class we are in, her friends protect her, making me look like the bad guy," Fen said, grumpily shoving food into their mouth. Their face looked like they had just eaten a lemon, they were clearly in a bad mood.

"Rikona," they remarked in a disgusted tone "She's not intelligent. The only reason she's passing is because of me. She should be called Leiko because she's an arrogant cu-"

"Fen!" RC interrupted, kicking the Endari under the table. A teacher was walking within earshot, and language like that totally would have resulted in detention. Fen rolled their eyes slightly but lowered their voice so only RC could hear.

"Well, Leiko would suit her..." Fen grinned at their little joke, but RC wasn't paying much attention.

They got up to get a drink as RC zoned out, tapping his fingers on the table in a rhythmic fashion as he daydreamed.

Suddenly RC's daydreaming was interrupted once again, and he looked over toward the sound of arguing and shouting. Fen had gotten into it with Rikona... AGAIN. He rolled his eyes and got up, standing up over everyone that had gathered. The smaller animals started to retreat, looking up at his massive form. "Why don't we break it up, ok?" Rikona looked up at him and let out a small growl. She had made a comment about Fen's handwriting, loud enough for them to hear. The hot-headed endari had, of course, responded angrily and Rikona was hoping to get them in trouble.

"Don't threaten me, wolf!" she snarled. RC got down to her level and smiled.

"Wasn't a threat, mittens, it was a promise," he said in a condescending tone. The black cat and her friends hissed derisively and turned to walk away. Fen and RC followed suit.

"You don't have to defend me ya know" Fen muttered in a low and annoyed tone.

"I know, but one day you're going to get into a real nasty fight, and it won't be the little guys that get the blame" Fen sighed, he was right.

"You can't talk, you have been in plenty of fights" they retorted sourly. RC nodded in agreement.

"Yes, true, but I pick my fights. They usually throw the first punch, so I don't look like the bad guy. Smaller animals though, I would definitely get the blame for fighting with"

The two walked to their dormitory. RC had one to himself as all of his roommates had graduated or dropped out, and Fen had gotten permission to move in. Considering that they were both exchange students, the school made an exception this time and allowed them to share the dorm. RC flopped down on his bed, picking up a Rubix cube and idly playing with it.

"So what are you up to this afternoon?" asked Fen, using English now they were in the dorm room, RC stopped putting the now complete cube down.

"Don't know... why? Get anything in mind?" Fen shook their head

"Just wondering." There was a knock at the door, and two envelopes fell into their mailbox, RC got up and grabbed them, inspecting the letters

"From the government," he remarked as he passed one to Fen and opened his "it's our citizenship test results, we passed and that we are now full citizens! Well, that makes life easier, hey it is saying we need to go get IDs from the head office" Fen let out an over the top groan and flopped on their bed, RC rolled his eyes and when to pull them up.

"Come on the grumpy butt; it won't take that long" Fen went limp being silly.

"Can't do it. Legs don't work." they joked.

"Well, if you insist!" RC said, grinning before he picked them up and put the Endari on his shoulder.

"No! Stoooop! Put me down! AAA!" Fen yipped, flailing as the larger animal walked towards the door. RC giggled and gently put Fen on their feet.

"FINE let's go".

As the two made their way to the school's front office, it was not uncommon for others to move out their way. The halls were small, and between them, the two stood over 8ft tall, it was an intimidating sight for smaller animals. However, occasionally other students would try to one-up them, picking fights with the larger animals to prove how tough they were. Luckily RC had away with words, and about nine out of ten times he could resolve it without a fight.

"Ears up please," said the photographer, "and no smiling".

"I hate it" Fen complained, looking at the identification card, "and I have to have this for ten years, please kill me now".

"Hey, at least they got your ears... mine are cut off!" Fen let out a chuckle as they looked at RC's ID. Because he was so big, the photographer hadn't been able to get his ears totally in the frame.

"You know, yours makes me like mine." Fen teased

RC rolled his eyes, "come on, let's go into town, I want ramen soup."

Darkness had fallen by the time they got to the food markets and sat down, but this was the best spot to get ramen and reasonably close to the school. As they ate RC kept looking behind Fen down the unlit alleyway, they had come from,

"What? What is it?" Fen questioned quietly, slipping into English as they noticed the look of unease on RC's face.

"We're being watched," he replied softly "don't turn around, they are waiting for us to leave".

"What's the plan?" Fen slurped down the last bit of ramen and smiled at RC, confident that he had come up with something.

"Hopefully we can avoid a fight, but if not, we fight our way out. good thing I haven't had time to cut my claws .." he pondered "I think I can smell at least four of them, cats"'

"Great, I hate cats" Fen groaned before taking a deep breath, "ok ready?", RC nodded and stood up, and the two walked back the way they had come. Back through the dark alley where the cats were likely ready to ambush them. Fen linked their arm around RC's as they came to a stop. There in front of them stood two tall Cats, RC looked around seeing more of them standing around some holding sticks and poles, RC gulped

"Well, well, well if it isn't the bitch who's been nothing but nasty and vicious to my little sister?" the leader snarled, grinning evilly as he looked over the pair in front of him "oh and who do we have here? you boyfriend~?" The large black cat stood before the two with a bat resting on his shoulder, clearly ready for a fight. A small growl rose from RC's throat in response to the taunt "oh, someone is getting protective" the cat mocked.

"Your bitch of a sister is a liar and a cheat!" Fen retorted angrily. As the words left their mouth, RC Pulled them back blocking a strike from the male's bat with his arms. The bat bent and splintered on his arm, and small drops of blood hit the ground. RC growled loudly and lunged forward, slashing at the cat's face, cutting his cheek wide open. The attacker recoiled and yowled in pain, dropping to his knees, holding his blood-soaked face. RC picked him up by the throat and pinned him to the wall.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't break your neck" the others had fled as soon as RC had blocked their leader's first swing, terrified of the large wolf's apparent strength. RC was in a blind rage and shook the cat "TELL ME!" The cat stopped bunny kicking and attempting to escape, gasping hard for breath as the canine's large paw pressed against his windpipe

"Please...please let me go, I-I'm sorry" he begged.

"Come on; we need to go, let him go," Fen put a paw on RC's arm, looking concerned. RC suddenly noticed the wail of approaching sirens. He dropped the pinned cat and got down to one knee as the cat crumpled to the ground, gingerly rubbing his neck.

"You squeal, you're dead. Stay away from us, or I will end you" he uttered before they ran off into the dark to avoid the incoming police. They ran for what felt like ages, coming out by the river running until The wolf collapsed. Fen rushed to his side and inspected the wound on his arm, which was still freely bleeding.

"You goddamn idiot... let's get you home."

When they got back to the school Fen kicked the dormitory room door open and sat the injured wolf down, pulling a First Aid kit out, he whined and as Fen cleaned the wound on his arms.

"It hurts!" RC winged as Fen wrapped it up, he looked up at Fen, noticing the concerned look on their face "sorry, I j-just lost it" he looked down playing with his tail, Fen smiled and sat next to him gently rubbing his back

"It's fine, and thank you, for being my bodyguard" Fen helped him to his feet "let's go, I'm sure the school doctor will want to have a look at this, and they'll probably do a better job than I have."

When they arrived at the infirmary, the doctor shook his head and got RC to sit down on a bed.

"Looks like you got into quite the scuffle," he remarked looking over the wolf's wounds "mm some of these will need stitching," he said, pulling some equipment out of a drawer and starting to work on the wounds.

After about an hour, they walked out RC feeling a bit better after some painkillers and medical care. The night he laid in bed thinking feeling weird about the fight and a bit scared, knowing that the cats would not just leave it at that.

"tomorrow is a new day."
