Lovin' a Feline

Chapter 6: Old Faces and News

Falco and Katt couldn't help but stare at this team that had arrived for a few seconds. Wolf of course looked exactly the same with the eye patch and more tougher looking clothes with spikes on the shoulders. But his one red colored eye didn't hold hostility in them like so many other times. Instead it held more like surprise Katt was with Falco as the lupine had heard how the avian had rejected the feline's advances before. On his right was the she wolf that was the only one that his heart, Luna. Her light blue eyes, rare for the species, matched her smile which was one of amusement. In this moonlight her light grey fur and silver colored blonde hair shown in it. It was no wonder Wolf had truly and faithfully fallen in love with her. That and her personality and body shape added to that. On the lupine's left was Panther, still the same as ever but smirking with amusement. Miyu of course was on the jungle cat's left also looking the same with the one earning and tom boy like attire but still beautiful to Panther's eyes. Finally Leon, who was on Luna's right, also appeared the same but since he and Falco didn't like each other, the chameleon gave the avian a glare. Luna then spoke. "Well this is a surprise," the she wolf said. "But not a bad one."

Wolf spoke again. "You're dating Katt now? I guess it shows even someone like you and me can find love despite what others may say and think."

"Looks like you've gotten soft bird brain," Leon hissed.

"Great, it's the lizard boy, Leon," Falco stated to Katt sarcastically and loud enough for the reptile to hear him.

"Annoying bird!" Leon stated in anger. "Still all beak and no bite!"

"You wanna try me?!" the avian shot back in anger now glaring at his hated rival.

"ENOUGH LEON!" Wolf barked causing that argument to come to an end. The two males who had been going back and forth said nothing but sent glares at the other. The lupine let out breath through his nose. He then spoke to the chameleon. "I thought I told you when we met these guys again to act civil or attempt to. Got it?"

"Fine," Leon hissed. The male reptile still didn't look happy.

"Look I understand how you two have that bitter rivalry. I get that; hell I have had it at points with Fox. But this isn't a time for fighting, even if it's over the horrible stuff of us out there. It's not our fault it exists, it's others who do it for only themselves and other selfish reasons. Also he may have found love, but it's not a bad thing. Look at me with Luna."

"Oh never mind that cranky lizard darling," Luna cooed to her lupine before looking at Katt and Falco with a smile. The she wolf came up to the two so she and the feline could share a hug. Due to being teammates and friends it was to be excepted but nothing more than that. It was the same with Miyu who also gave the pink furred female a hug as well.

"Good to see you as well Falco," the lynx then added. "Glad to see you haven't changed much."

"Yeah, but... what are you guys doing here?" Falco asked. "I thought you'd be celebrating after that heist you guys stopped. Still surprised you of all people would change."

"Well it was nice to be heroes instead of being treated like criminals," Panther then spoke. He looked to his girl Miyu with love. "But I think it's because of my Miyu here and Wolf's girl helping us get on the right path. It's going to be a long road, but we'll get there in the end. As for why we're here, we got invited to Nicholas and Fara's wedding. We thought we'd meet up with them here after learning how they were going to have a mission here with Star Fox." Due to Luna and Miyu being a part of Star Flight, the two ladies were able to get in contact pretty easily with that vulpine. Falco and Katt figured one of them must have called him and the long-haired male had told them about the job.

"And that's not the only reason why we came here," Miyu then said looking to the jungle cat with just as much love in her eyes that he was giving her. She moved her left paw and that's when Falco and Katt saw on her left ring finger was a ring causing them both to go wide eyed in shock.

"Wait... you mean...?" the pink furred feline began.

"Yeah." Here Panther wrapped an arm around the lynx looking like he would burst with happiness and pride. His girl had a smile that matched his, also feeling that. "Panther here proposed to me after that job you saw on the news. I couldn't be any happier."

"Wait you're actually going to be married?!" Falco exclaimed in amazement. It was even more surprising to learn when the jungle cat and Miyu had become a couple. "I thought you were nothing but a flirt and male whore who wanted Krystal!"

"Yes, some of that is true," the male feline replied. "I'm not going to deny and say I didn't do the flirting and wanted Krystal at one point. But despite my reputation I could tell that she truly loves Fox. I just want her to be happy like Miyu does with me. Being single was a bit of that and I found my girl here has more in common with me then that vixen ever will. What I have for Miyu is true love which is what I've always wanted. I don't want anyone but her and I'm certainly not interested in any other females and especially any males." That sentence was said through gritted teeth and anger as the jungle cat thought back to all the stuff of him that was horrid and wrong out there.

Falco was stunned by this revelation. The avian knew the jungle cat could be cocky at times and a bit egotistical despite being a great piolet. But seeing the way the jungle cat looked at Miyu showed no doubt he truly loved the lynx and was faithful to her. Katt then spoke. "Yeah I hear you, I can get pretty pissed to by that stuff. Do I look like I'm into females or any other male but Falco here?" Nobody else needed to respond to that as they were silent for a few seconds thinking of similar things of them out there they hated very much. But then the pink furred feline then brought them away from that for now. "So do you two have a date in mind?"

"We'll figure that out a bit later after Nicholas and Fara's wedding," Miyu answered with a happy smile. "Right now just knowing I'll marry this stud makes me happy." Here the female wrapped her arms around her jungle cat fiancé.

Wolf in the meantime looked on at the scene. Despite the hostility from Leon, at least nobody was going to kill each other. Perhaps this could be the start of something better without being like those things online that weren't him at all. True, the rivalry between the two teams might not fully go away, but maybe being enemies wouldn't remain. After all at a few points against the Aparoids they had worked together. And true during the Anglars a couple times they had fought. But maybe those days for the latter were gone. "Well then, we should get to where Nicholas is," the lupine suggested. "I'm sure once he sees us that guy will want to catch up."

"And I'm certain he'll be happy to hear what me and Miyu have to say about us," Panther added.

"Probably the others as well." Luna commented. "Well... maybe some of us not as much."

"Oh don't worry about that," Katt told the she wolf from behind Falco. "Nicholas will make sure you all are equally welcomed."

"That is one of his best point," Falco added. "I think it's thanks to that vulpine we're like this now."

Wolf nodded at Falco in agreement. The lupine could still remember the first time his team and Star Flight had worked together. And thanks to that he had not only met the love of his life, the male wolf had begun to think things differently. Perhaps if things had gone this well with reuniting with Falco, maybe things wouldn't be so bad with Fox. True, the rivalry would never truly go away but now it didn't have to be as hostile. After all, there were now bigger things to worry about. "Well if we're done here, I say let's move," the lupine grunted.

The group of them went back to the colony. The red glow of the sun had slowly started starting to appear over the horizon. All of them had not slept yet and were understandably exhausted. The group passed out from their tiredness as well as from being intoxicated. Luckily there was space for Star Wolf to crash with Luna next to Wolf and Miyu next to Panther. Katt and Falco also got some sleep themselves. It wasn't until hours later when they all woke up and started by meeting with Slippy and Amanda. The two frogs were informed about what had happened last night and while certainly surprised, were happy to see Miyu and Luna again having worked with the lynx and she wolf before. And then it came the time to let Fox and Krystal know who of course were surprised by Star Wolf being here. "Been some time, pup," Wolf told the vulpine after the foxy couple got over their shock. It was still a bit of an insult but not as much this time with that word.

"Just what I needed to hear," Fox grumbled to Krystal.

"Oh don't mind him," Luna then spoke up. She smiled at the vulpine and his vixen. "It's good to see you two again."

"I'm glad you've been taking good care of Krystal, Fox," Panther then said. The two foxes saw the look in his eyes and it wasn't one of trying to woe her or jealousy but of general concern. "That's all I want for her."

The vulpine was surprised by this and looked to Miyu in confusion. "And here I thought I would have to listen to you trying to flirt with my vixen. I know you tried many times before and maybe still liked her," the vulpine stated.

The jungle cat rolled his yellow eyes and got even more serious. "Fox McCloud, I will always care about Krystal's well-being and happiness. But I have all the female I need with Miyu." Here he brought the said lynx in close to his body with his right arm. "I'm in love with this girl here; that ship for Krystal has sailed."

Krystal could sense with a quick read of his mind that it was true. The way Panther looked and talked about Miyu was filled with nothing but deep love, devotion, and loyalty for the lynx. She was the only one the jungle cat wanted to hold close at night forever. Miyu was the only being Panther could envision doing this with now. The lynx in the meantime looked up to her jungle cat with the same kind of love and leaned up to kiss his cheek after putting an arm around him. Fox could see the truth to those words now and couldn't help but smile at it was a happy scene. Meanwhile Falco was thinking the same thing when it came to Katt. But the moment was interrupted when they heard a happy laugh and saw some others approaching them out of the corner of their eyes. "Hey I'm just glad you two are happy," went a familiar male voice.

Turning showed it was Nicholas and Fara leading the way while they held paws. With them were the other Star Flight members who had been a part of the mission along with Drey and Traf. The busty silver vixen was hanging onto the latter's arm and both looked to be very happy. The long-haired male than noticed who was waiting with Star Fox and looked to the husky and vixen with him. "Well we'll be seeing both of you soon then," Nicholas told the two. "Good luck and remember what me and my vixen said."

"We will, thanks," Traf replied then looked to Drey. "Come on, we've got a lot of catching up to do Drey." She nodded in response and everyone watched the two walk away, clearly a couple from seeing the vixen lean up to kiss the male's cheek while still holding onto his arm.

"Huh, what happened to them?" Slippy asked.

"I think I can guess even if we haven't seen them since yesterday," Amanda replied with a smile.

"Yeah, they hooked up as a couple last night," Nicholas answered. "At least she's found true love instead of trying to hit on one of us guys who are taken. In any case they'll be coming to me and Fara's wedding because there's room for them and the two seem nice enough."

"Hey, we've got something else to tell you!" Falco then said to the vulpine.

"What?" the long-haired male asked.

In response those from Star Wolf took a step forward so the entire Star Flight team were able to see them. "Hey there," Luna said with a smile to this team.

The whole Star Flight team got smiles on their faces. "Wait it's Star Wolf!" Cody stated. "What the hell are you guys doing here?"

The others explained to the rest what had happened last night which made the team very happy. "Well damn, it's good to see you again," Nicholas said and to the males of Star Wolf but Leon. They got fist bumps while the ladies got friendly hugs.

"You're all doing well and it saves us the time waiting for you to come to the wedding," the part Cerinian commented.

"Well that's not the only wedding that will be happening," Panther then said. "We've got some other news as well."

"What is it?" Ben asked.

Miyu held up her left paw. "Me and Panther are going to be married!" she stated happily.

Those on the Star Flight team were surprised for a couple of seconds before breaking into smiles. "Well it's about damn time," Nicholas stated. "I'm really happy for both of you since you two are made for the other."

"Yes," Panther agreed, putting an arm around his lynx. "She really is for me no matter what is said or done."

"Yeah, kinda like how you and Star Fox have been able to put everything in the past behind you. Somewhat."

Everyone frowned as despite this the thought of what others did with horrid, disgusting images of them came to their minds for a few seconds. From being with the wrong person, to situations they never would be a part of. "Well either way, that problem can be dealt with later," Fox stated.

"Make that more than that," Nicholas added. Star Wolf looked to this vulpine with questioning looks. The part Cerinian shook his head to indicate he would explain later about the Eternal Halo.

"Well then, shall we get going?" the other vulpine suggested.

It was decided that Star Wolf would travel with Star Flight so the teams separated. Katt could see Falco didn't look happy that Leon was her and the female touched one of his arms. "Give it time," the feline told her avian. "At least we know there's enough to make it so you two don't have to interact."

"Yeah, guess so," Falco replied. His girl found one of his wings and gave it a squeeze.

"Come on. Let's not worry about that lizard and focus on the wedding and us." The two smiled and shared a quick kiss.

After the teams left Papetoon, the teams contacted the Cornerian Army and met up with them to explain what happened. Although there was a bit of tension with Star Wolf, thanks to their heroic actions from earlier, at least the three males were met a bit more warmly instead of pure tension and hostility. It would take a long time to build up the trust and respect but this team was off to a good start. Luckily though when it came to staying at places Wolf would stay with his Luna, and Panther would with his Miyu. Leon was fine with living on the mother ship of Star Flight. This made Falco happy as the avian wouldn't have to deal with the lizard that much. Even during the wedding of Fara and Nicholas there would be plenty of space to keep distance. In the meantime while waiting for the day, Luna and Miyu were able to catch up and meet with Bill, Fay, and their newborn son. At least with Star Flight here, the bad feelings and awkwardness between Star Fox and Star Wolf started to fade away. Maybe not for Leon and Falco but at least there wouldn't be any fighting. And then of course with the Hot Rodders coming for the wedding, now everyone that had worked together would be here. "It feels like the whole gang is here," Nicholas said at one point to his Fara while they were talking to Fox and Krystal about these recent turn of events. "It feels like everything's right for now."

The others with him agreed. They felt it as well as despite what existed out there that wasn't true and horrid, at least they knew who was to blame for it and it wasn't anyone on the teams. However, Fox still didn't feel as comfortable when Panther did talk to Krystal even if the jungle cat clearly was only focused on Miyu. Even so what had happened in the past couldn't be learned from and that was what everyone did. It was all for a brighter future.

Author's note: Just a heads up the next chapter, while a part of the story will not be focused on Katt and Falco. But it needs to be done and will cover some things that need to be including something I've had in my head to redo for a long time.
