Well here it is my first piece. I'm writing a series but still ironing out some of the kinks (see journal) so I thought I'd write a prequel to set it up and to get in some practice. No yiff in this one im afraid, ill make up for it soon enough, you have a wolf's word on it So without further ado......

The sky thundered overhead as he rode hard down the forest on the back of his mighty steed. Looming ahead an archaic castle came into view, darkness enshrouding the entire building as it stood ominously against the pale white of the moon behind. The horse reared in fright and he patted her gently, calming her. "Easy girl" he muttered as he slowly dismounted, looking up at the looming doorway of the castle. A gust emanated from the doorway, a vile smell of sulphur and death filling the air, almost as if it was daring him to enter. He smirked, drawing his blade and studying it in the moonlight. The blade was a marvel to behold, a short sword shaped like a gladius; however the hilt sparkled with precious jewels and the blade itself giving off a golden glow that penetrated the darkness like a beacon of light. "Well, it would be rude not to honour the master with my presence" he muttered, entering the darkened castle with a steely resolve.

He entered the main foyer and at once the doors slammed behind him sealing him inside. "Huh, remind me when I've cleansed this place to high some decorators, all this black around makes it look like I've walked into a goth convention...." he muttered to himself, eyes adjusting to the thinly lit chamber. He raised his hand and muttered "Illumin". A glow appeared in his hand helping to light the chamber as he heard a loud echoing voice resonate around him.

"Ssssssssssooo, what fooool daresss enter my cassstle....?" "Prehapsss a haplessss knight, too blinded by his zealousss light to seeee his impending demisssse?" Mocking laughter is heard as the sounds of a door opening ahead of him corresponds with the torches lining the walls around him suddenly extinguish leaving the only source of light coming from his hand, and the feint growls of unidentifiable creatures ahead in the darkness. He sighs gently, clearly unphased by the impending danger and points his glowing hand ahead of him. "Tai illumin" he muttered and the light shot from his hand and flew ahead, relighting each torch as it bounded from one to the next, then hovered at the centre of the room, bathing the room in a warming light. He nodded and turned to face three growling beasts, running towards him from across the room. These vile creatures were draconian in nature, there dark scales covering their body. Each sported a pair of sharp curved horns but oddly were wingless, probably to stop them flying off he thought. He soon found however that although they were wingless, they were defiantly dragonkin when a stream of fire nearly melted his face off. He ducked and rolled to the side, "Bow!" he shouted and his weapon glowed, changing shape in his hand to form a golden oak bow. He pulled the string back and an arrow formed, he aimed and fired at the first beast, the arrow flying straight before dinking and bouncing off the scales of the beast. *Feck....* he muttered pulling back the string again to form another arrow as he quickly scanned the area. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. "How convenient" he smirked, aiming and letting off the arrow. The arrow flew and cut straight through the support on the chandelier, sending it crashing down onto one of the dragonkin, crushing the beast with a sickening crunch.

He cheered mentally, but quickly his focus was brought back to the fight as one of the kin slashed wildly at him with its blade, barely missing his head. "Gladius!" He shouted as his bow quickly took on the familiar form of his sword. The beast swung again but this time the sharp clang of metal met his blade as he coolly parried the attack. The two exchanged blows, the beast becoming increasingly desperate and aggressive as it struggled to find an opening. He smiled, knowing exactly what the beast was thinking, and decided to use it to his advantage and end it. He made a clearly exaggerated lunge at the dragonkin, and it parried him swinging him around with a roar of triumph. However, this laughter was cut short as a hand slammed into his torso. The beast looked dumbfounded as the human in front of him grinned and muttered a single word, "Cova". The beast roared and tried to swing at him, but found himself completely immobile, its eyes widening as ice travelled from the human's hand, encasing the beast in ice. It let out a small whimper as it travelled up and into its mouth, sealing the beast as it became a statue of pure ice, inside and out. He looked on at his handiwork and smiled, although the fist that smashed through the statue and sent him flying across the chamber kind of put a dampener on the whole thing.

He groaned loudly and his head ached, not only from the blow, but from the stone wall that his body had unintentionally tested for structural weakness. The dragonkin roared and charged towards him, his blade rose above his head. He grasped his sword and threw it at the beast, aiming for the weaker scales around the head. The beast ducked and the blade whistled over his head, missing him completely. It stood over the human and snarled, the blade rose above its head in triumph. He smirked as it stood over him, and spoke clearly. "Boomerang"

The beasts eyes widened and he turned, just as the newly transformed boomerang sliced straight into his neck, removing the beast's head completely and embedding itself in the wall. Its body stood there twitching, blood spurting from the severed arteries. He calmly stood up and removed the boomerang from the wall and muttered "gladius" it reshaping to its original form before being resheathed. He walked past the body of the dragonkin and calmly prodded, causing it to collapse on the floor with a dull thud. "Well thanks for the starter, let's see what's for the main course"

He strode through the opened door from which the kin had come from and stepped into a large circular chamber. He let off an impressed whistle as he stared at the sheep mounds of gold and jewels in the chamber. "Think I found my future bed chamber....* he muttered to himself. "What's to stop it from being your bed chamber right now...." He turned round to see a beautiful black wolf stroll towards him seductively. "It's been so long since a dashing, heroic warrior such as yourself has entered my sacred chambers....." she cooed gently, her loosely hanging clothes just barely covering her modesty, her ebon eyes studying the human as she licked her lips. She placed her hand gently on his shoulder and drew his face close to hers. "Wont you lay with me, my heroic prince?" she whispered, her words wrapped seductively as an attempt to bend him to her will. He smiled and stroked her face "sorry, my dear, I won't be sticking you with that sword...." as he pressed the blade up into her torso, inches from impaling her. She smirked "Well played mortal....."

A dark pulse emanated from her body and threw him back, smashing into several priceless vases and scattering gold everywhere. "Son of a..." he groaned and looked upwards, jaw dropping as a colossal black dragoness loomed over him. "It's a sssshame you had to die this way, you would have been a keeeeper...." she laughs and flames erupt from her mouth scorching the gold around him. "Any last requestsss mortal?" she growled. "A breathmint?" he snapped back, trying to keep up the hero facade as he struggled against the large claws that pinned him to the ground. She roared, splattering him with saliva and causing him to wretch uncontrollably. "Arrogant to the end foolissssh mortal, prepare to feel the flamessss of oblivion!" She raised her head up to the sky and bellowed loudly; shaking the room and causing him to close his eyes, waiting for the inevitable flames to torch his body......so the loud beeping that emanated from her mouth certainly caught him off guard. "What in the hell....?" he muttered sleepily.

"Hey Pinky, time to wake up, we got work to do"

Mwahaha, I feel so evil for using a "it was all a dream" ending, but trust me, it's only to help set up my series......and have a lil fun at the same time . Lemmie know what you think, I welcome all comments as I can use them to get better and deliver a better story as a result. Be fair though as it is my first work and I was a lil nervous, and of course if you have any advice to give someone with a imagination and enough suger to build a fort please do share.

Oh and chapter 1 coming soon (Providing I get the names )
