A couple of things I probably need to address for some of the things in here to make sense since I want to avoid "As you know Bob" acts as much as possible. For starters, the crystal on the Rooqa turns red if it perceives a threat to its owner. This informs any nearby authorities to come help. But if someone can convince it they mean no harm, it'll instead turn green, signifying it's still on alert and will call authorities quickly. So in order to safely put the Rooqa into danger (very important with Jhi, especially young Jhi) it is very important to first convince the Rooqa that its owner is not in any serious threat.

Second, a snapping is a term used to determine how strong someone's magic is. If you back anyone into a corner they eventually will lash out to defend themselves. So when performing a Snapping, it is important to get them to that breaking point and keep them there until they retaliate. Eventually, their instincts will kick in and regardless of their personality will snap and send an attack at the person responsible, trying to break them free. Naturally then, the stronger the force of the snapping, the stronger the mage.

A Sciuden in rather formal robes coughs a bit, getting the attention of everyone nearby. He then proceeds to bow slightly once Alliquinn and Jase look at them before raising up an arm and creating a force against her. Unable to resist, Alliquinn quickly finds herself pinned against the wall a few feet off the ground. A lot of the other people sleeping there begin to quickly vacate the area, though quite a few grumble about the interruption while doing so.

"Greetings," the Sciuden states in a rather energetic manner, "I am Bo Filidani. I am here to snap you. I do so hope you don't hold it against me."

Jase hesitates a moment at the introduction and nonchalant manner that this little squirrel-like creature seems to consider this attack. Jase starts to move forward to try and intervene but finds that his body is casually tossed aside. He stands up again and considers how to approach saving the Alkilraen, knowing full well that the Mistress would not at all be kind to him if he were to let her get killed, regardless of whatever importance she may truly have.

"Relax Saren, I'm not going to hurt your friend there. This is only a snapping," Bo answers as Jase takes another step forward. "Though speaking of," he turns his attention towards the Rooqa, the crystal glowing red at the moment.

Bo begins some form of chant at the device and at first Jase can't really make out what is being said until the volume begins to rise up, as well as Bo's annoyance.

"I'm not a threat," he continues repeating over and over, not even looking at Jase or Alliquinn but rather only at the crystal of the Rooqa. "I'm not a threat! I'm not a threat! You fucking piece of junk, I'm not a fucking threat! Acknowledge me you fucking piece of shit or I will dump you into sewage. I'm! Not! A! Threat!"

Eventually, the light on the Rooqa changes from a red light to a green one. "Finally," he exclaims. "Now we can begin."

Bo raises up his other hand and begins to put a bit more force against Alliquinn, pinning her even more tightly to the wall. Jase stands uncertain as to what all he should be doing in this situation. "Now, for posterity sake I am not lying," Bo says, more for Jase than anything else. "There will not be any real harm done to the Alkilraen. I have performed a snapping many times, all without incident. It's just a matter of finding the right amount of force and applying it sufficiently long."

Alliquinn is confused at the turn of events. She can't move even the slightest bit and the pressure is making it hard for her to breathe. She tries to move one of her arms but it doesn't seem to move. She can feel a sort of painful tension beginning to build up inside of her, but is unsure what that means or if that's the result of that Sciuden's spell. At any rate as it builds up she feels more and more like something is trying to blow up inside her and do so in a very painful manner. She tries her best to try and constrain herself and keep herself from blowing up but finds it is an increasingly difficult job. Alliquinn starts trying to draw in strength from her surroundings as some of the walls begin to frost over.

"Nu uh," Bo replies, waving his other hand quickly and denying Alliquinn access to the energy of the surroundings. "I'm not letting you pull that off. You have to snap like a good little girl without any tricks."

Alliquinn starts to panic, wondering why her Rooqa has disobeyed her and isn't still trying to get reinforcements. Her body is feeling tighter and tighter. And with a scream she ends up finally relenting as a pulse of energy flies right out of her, knocking her free of the Sciuden's spell and throwing him into the air and through the wall on the far side of the enclosure. Bo quickly stands up and begins walking quickly back towards them, giggling like a schoolboy.

"That was awesome! Not the strongest snapping I have ever seen, but then again Jhi don't need that strong of snapping to be very effective," he says before looking further away, and waves off to one side, "Did you get all that?"

Jase steps out of his stupor and looks and sees a new individual walk up, a Rooqa in hand. They head over towards Bo.

"I was not informed that I was to be witnessing the snapping of a Jhi, let alone the Alkilraen Jhi," he says once he gets close, already pulling a glass ball out of his own Rooqa.

"Is that going to be a problem?" Bo asks.

The other Rooqayla stares blankly for a second or two and then speaks in almost a slightly altered manner, as if reading something rather than speaking normally. "The contract is that I am to witness the snapping of an individual and provide the memory. There are stipulations that there are certain exclusivities to this memory. That I am not allowed to simply hand it off to anyone else. Nor am I to reveal the client or the identity and species of the person being snapped. There is no reference at all in the contract saying that I was to witness a vityla snap, only a snapping," their voice returns to normal. "By the contract I am not allowed to say that I witnessed the snapping of the Alkilraen Jhi or that your mistress is my client. I will be allowed to say, however, that I did witness the snapping of a Jhi."

"That will be fine," Bo says. He reaches out his hand and gingerly accepts the small glass ball. He then bows to the other Rooqayla. They in turn bow, take one long last look at Alliquinn and then turn around and leave. Bo then giggles slightly as he heads over to the other two, all the while rubbing his hands this way and that over the glass ball, pouring some of his energy into it. Just as he is close to them he finishes his spell. He reaches into a pocket and pulls out a little paper crane. He closes his eyes and casts a spell on the crane before handing it the ball and watching it fly off further into the city.

Alliquinn stands up and starts brushing some dust off, trying to recover what was done to her. She looks and sees that her own Rooqa has turned back to its normal blue color. So apparently it finds no more threat to the situation. She walks up to the Sciuden, someone that looks rather diminutive to her own body. "Sorry for throwing wall," she says.

"Oh, think nothing of it," Bo chitters. "And I do apologize for snapping you on such short notice. I was actually supposed to do it this next morning but I was so excited that I simply couldn't wait. Though speaking of," he starts weaving his hands together and using his own magic to repair the wall that was damaged when he went through it. Once he's satisfied he shakes his hands together and then bows again. "Allow me to more formally introduce myself again. I am Bo Filidani. I am one of Mistress Dilani's field lieutenants."

"Rhoudescialliquinn," Alliquinn says softly.

"Beauty of the foot of heaven," Bo translates, "such a pretty name. Now do you prefer as a shorthand Roudeschi or Alliquinn?"

"Alliquinn," she says, tilting her head slightly to the side at the question. Most don't even bother to ever learn anything of her language, and most who do learn of her name try to truncate it even more so.

"Wait, so Alliquinn is the shortened version of the name? I would have figured it would be something like Quinn or Ali," Jase says.

"Yeah, that'd be the same as me always referring to you as S or N. Their language doesn't work like most, it doesn't shorten like most do."

"Very well, miss Alliquinn. I shall be accompanying you all on behalf of my Mistress and helping with the lady's training. Though I have to say you do certainly look to be a bit on the small side for most Alkilraen that I know of."

"I know," Alliquinn says somewhat forlornly.

"Is the height difference a result of being a Rooqayla?" Bo asks.

"No, just grow slow."

"No matter, the important thing is you're here. This is going to be awesome! Did you know Alkilraens actually have their own written language?" Bo asks Jase while looking around the residence.

"No they don't," Jase answers, switching to the Sciuden's language for privacy, though he stumbles a bit on a lot of the words. "They never write. Most think they lack the brain for it."

Bo shrugs and sticks with the common language, "You do realize that as a Rooqayla she can understand any language she's ever learned before, right? It is kind of pointless to try and talk around one of them using any language, really. For even if she doesn't know it, if she ever learns it she'll be able to know what you said anyway. Though speaking of which, how many languages do you know so far? That was not something mentioned in your initial assessment."

"I know twelve."

"Twelve, not bad for such a young age, especially from an Alkilraen. Oh, don't go thinking that that's a comment to your intelligence, but rather an observation about how secluded and isolationist most Alkilraen tend to be. But yeah, they have a written language. She's probably written something on this place without you knowing it. Their written language is kind of strange, at least to us. Ah here's one example," Bo walks over to a wall and points to a few markings in the ground next to it. He crouches down in front of it. "Seems to be just her announcing she's here and is a Rooqayla if anyone wanted to know. Pretty generic to be honest."

Jase moves closer but doesn't see anything really out of the ordinary with a few scratches in the dirt. He had seen her stand around that place earlier, digging in the dirt but the manner she was doing it seemed more just her being unsure of what to do rather than making any deliberate act. "Are you sure that's writing?"

"Oh yes!" Bo chitters. "I find Alkilraen extremely fascinating. So I've studied their written language a bit and have picked up a handful of Alkilraen words. Just enough to make a fool of myself, though. Ooh! Did you know they have a library?"

"A library? Alkies? Now you're shitting me."

"No, I'm perfectly serious. They have a library, not that they'd ever let anyone not one of them go and see it. Oh what I'd give to actually see the library."

Alliquinn raises up her hand palm up at Bo.

"Wait, you've actually been there? Oh I'm so jealous. But you can put your hand down, I highly doubt that I'd have enough money to be able to adequately pay for any meaningful memory of your library. At any rate, I'm sorry for making it so that you will have a hard time falling asleep, but I will be seeing you all tomorrow. We'll be heading out in the morning and I will expect to find both of you at the front gate shortly after dawn. We'll have a long trip to get through."

"Why me also?"

"Because you're her handler. It doesn't make any sense to designate a person to be in charge of an Alkilraen's purse if we don't have that person follow along with them. You are going to be paid as well, don't you worry and we'll also be more than capable of keeping your home tied to your name. We won't let anyone steal this place you've gotten for yourself."

And with that Bo simply turns around and walks off, chittering incessantly to himself. Jase grumbles at the disruption and being forced to accompany this strange little Alkilraen. "Perhaps it would have been far better for me if I had simply just left well enough alone. Shows what I get for just trying to be a good person."

He looks over and sees that Alliquinn has not only been oblivious to him talking about himself but has apparently also already fallen asleep, sleeping softly on her side, her tail still flicking about every few seconds. "Of course she'd be one to just fall asleep after something like that. Who wouldn't be able to do so? Someone just tried to kill you and then perfectly able to just fall asleep less than a minute later. Guess that's an Alky for ya."

Jase sighs and looks out the window at the stars, or at least what stars one can actually see in the middle of the city. Alliquinn, meanwhile takes deep breaths as she tries to sleep. She didn't consider any need like the Saren to try and stay awake, but her mind just wouldn't shut off. She had been hoping against hope that she'd be able to attend her god's mission easily enough, go to the site and deliver the memory and then be able to go about the rest of her life as normal. And instead, she's been wrapped up in who knows what and attacked twice in one night. Not only that she wasn't able to get rid of the Bol as she had been hoping. But eventually she is able to wind herself down enough to fall asleep, trusting in her Rooqa to wake her if it detects a threat while she's asleep. She does dream during her sleep, but like usual it's far too muddled for her to really understand much of what went on in it.

She wakes up just as the sky is beginning to brighten and stretches. It was a nice night last night. She doesn't know when Jase finally gave up on pacing but he seems to be currently asleep. Feeling the need for some food she picks up her Rooqa and follows her nose to try and find something good to eat. A city this size never truly sleeps even at night. So it wasn't too hard to find a stall selling some bits of food for those that don't want to just sit down and eat. She walks up and pays with some of the money she had been given the night prior, deciding to pick up some food for Jase as well. She'll go and take some of his money to pay herself back for his share and a bit more for the effort. She doesn't know what Jase would like to eat for breakfast, but she could smell other Saren here from the past so she assumes it must be okay enough for him.

After paying she returns with the food ponders how best to deal with the situation. After thinking on it for a good moment she decides to place his food on the ground a bit in front of him, making sure that it won't get any of the dirt from the ground onto the actual food as many races don't like that. She also makes sure it's far enough away from him that he can't just accidentally knock it over onto the floor. She then goes into his things to get at his money to pay herself back and then starts poking at him gently in the foot with the Bol. It takes a bit but eventually he does start to rouse up, grumbling the entire time, even after eating. But Alliquinn doesn't really make any real response. Instead once she feels that he has eaten enough she stands up, puts her Rooqa in a slot on the pouch she carries and then starts walking towards the entrance to the town. She does her best to try and ignore the Bol, but after a certain distance it just starts rolling after her.
