#2 of Junior Year

I woke up the next day in probably the worst way ever. My little kit sister, Sophie, was jumping on my bed.

"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!"

"Sophie!" I yelled. "Get out of my room!"

"Not until you get out of my bed." She taunted. I sighed. Mom, why would you let her do this? I grabbed my pillow and whirled it at her. She ducked and giggled with the ease only a seven-year-old gymnast would have. I didn't have my glasses on but I could see her outline well enough to pounce up on pin her on my bed.

She knew what came next and squealed. I placed my hands on her ribs and drove them in. She laughed as I tickled her, feet kicking at my gut. I laughed, knowing that I'd miss this. How much longer til I go off for college?

"C'mon you two, you're gonna be late for your first day!" Mom cried from the kitchen. I let Sophie up and patted her out the room, closing the door. I took my shorts off and tossed them in the hamper. My room was clean for once. Mostly cause mom cleaned it while I was away last week. I grabbed a fresh pair of boxers and slipped them on. I waited for my tail to find its hole to slip out of. Shit, it doesn't have one. I grabbed my pocket knife from my dresser and cut a crude hole. Because there weren't that many furs in the world, you had to shop at a human store and cut holes in them, unless you wanted to pay 70 bucks for a pair of jeans, which was totally bogus. I raided my hamper until I found my favorite shirt. 'Life sucks and then you die.' Gotta love the classics.

I scarfed my breakfast quickly and took off, and grabbed my backpack. Might as well get this over with. I stepped out the front door and hopped in my old sedan. Not the best, but it does the job. I drove for the twelve minutes it takes to get there and then I stopped before turning into the school. I flipped the sun blocker down and stared at myself in the mirror. Are you ready for this? Are you really? It's a huge step forward... So are you ready for this?

I looked at myself and saw the complete uncertainty in my golden yellow eyes. You can do this you know you can! ...

Can't you?
