Marshland

Krissy stood on the side of the packed dirt road, watching the worn out van rattle and burp black smoke into the horizon as it drove away. The discovery of a small, friendly town when she had left the madness of the jungle had been a dream come true. She had spent a cheap week in a tiny motel sleeping, eating her fill of local foods and gathering more information on the temple in exchange for cleaning the motel each day. Between doing all that though, she had dwelled on the mysterious disappearance of the eggs she had laid. She had passed out after laying them and when she had woken up an indeterminate amount of time later, they had gone, the only trace of them being the thick mucus that had accompanied them. There had been no animal tracks so she assumed a bird or a tree dwelling snake had swooped down and snatched them, seeing them as an easy meal while she lay passed out from exhaustion.

Maybe.

It could be possible that one day, a lost traveller would be beset upon by a leopard print vine.

An amusing thought, if a disturbing one.

She turned and peered across the flat, misty expanse of the marshland that bordered the narrow stretch of civilisation that seperated marsh from jungle. Her excessive, week long bout of recouperation and research had revealed that Pritchard and his books - and her own studies - had got it wrong: the Temple of Nidaya was not, infact, in the jungle. That one was a small holding set on one acre of land and was a tourist hotspot when the rainy season had eased. It was also a temple that belonged to an entirely different goddess, one more modern than Nidaya. The description she had given the owner of the motel, whilst garnering her some odd looks and a few curious questions - along with some stern warnings - had pointed her in the direction of the marshes, the home of the central temple, a place that not even the most foolish, disbelieving tourist would set foot in.

It was said to be guarded by fearsome beasts from the underworld and anyone who managed to make it past them and get inside the temple proper were never seen nor heard from again. It was pretty much the same fare she had got from the airfield staff and their families.

'Sounds like my kind of place.' Krissy had said.

The old ocelot at the reception desk eyed her warily, 'Why'd you want go there?'

'I'm being sent to do some research for Professor Euwan Pritchard at Oaks University in Ardle.' She said. Technically true. Pritchard just wanted the Queen's Collar, a fabled relic said to have been worn by the Goddess's High Priestess. Krissy had no idea what it was supposed to do, only that it was 'fabled' and worth a lot of money. Assuming it existed. For Krissy, to see the temple up close and wander its forgotten halls and rooms and take pictures and notes, was more than enough.

Aside from the money that Pritchard still owed her, that is.

The old woman had grabbed Krissy's forearm and stared at her imploringly, 'Nidaya ain't no Goddess. She a demon. A demon queen. Be warned, girl. Be warned.' Then she let Krissy go, a small pouch of provisions at her belt - a real pouch, made of stitched canvas. She had a small, hand drawn map in her pocket and a tiny compass attached to an equally small notebook. She was, essentially, ready.

Krissy found the path into the marsh, a dirt trail that became wooden planks lashed together with fraying, mud caked rope that lay across the stagnant water, connecting the small, muddy islands and stilted hovels that dotted the landscape. The trail wound across the marsh, through tall reeds and lead her into the broad mere that bisected the marshland. Frogs, newts and toads splashed away from her passage and small, biting insects swarmed her. She waved them away and pulled her notes out of her pocket. She unfolded her map which she had carefully annotated to make sure she wouldn't get lost again and studied it, checking her compass briefly. The last thing she wanted was a repeat of the jungle.

Stagnant water sloshed over the tops of her boots as she splashed through the wetlands, heading towards the next part of the marsh. The temple was several miles up ahead, hidden in the fog that lay in a thick blanket across the landscape, obscuring the horizon. She had been told to take great care. There were no settlements in northern marshlands beyond the mere, only the southern and if she got into distress, there would be no help around for miles and no way to signal for it. Just like the jungle...

She uttered a curse as her socks became sodden, each step producing a damp squish. She stopped and looked around for the path when she realised that she had strayed whilst she had been busy with her map. The planks had vanished beneath the water and had yet to re-emerge. She checked her map again, glanced at the hazy sky and calculated her current location and the time from the position of the sun, checking it against her old compass again just to be sure. She tucked her map and compass away again and trekked north west until she came across the planks again and rejoined the path, following it doggedly back into the marsh, leaving the mere behind.

She walked for an hour and didn't see anymore signs of life. The scattering of stilted hovels had ended at the marsh/mere border and she got the creeping feeling that she was getting close to her destination. And also that she was being watched. Her hand slid the crudely carved handle of her wooden dagger and her ears rotated as she listened for anything approaching her. All that could be heard though was the gentle patter and splashing of the small native amphibians going about their business amongst the reeds and shallow mud pools. She shooed a gathering of crane flies and mosquitoes away from her face and settled down beneath a waterlogged marsh tree for a breather, her eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of the temple or signs of anything untoward heading in her direction.

She had been walking for quite a while and was quite amazed that she had made so much progress in what felt like such a short amount of time; the sun had been peeking just above the horizon when she had set off that morning and now it was passing its zenith, high in the sky. She pulled the small hip flask from her belt she had bartered in exchange for cleaning a chicken coop and took a gulp of cool water and looked around at the barren landscape and its scraggly trees leaning drunkenly in the marsh. It was an eerie place and she still had the creeping sensation that she was being watched. The fur on the back of her neck prickled but she shook it off as a lingering effect the vines had had on her and her quiet, mist wreathed surroundings.

Though she felt she had physically recovered from the incident with the vines, she was still exhausted and without her back pack. She had no serious supplies, no real weapons, no money and she chastised herself for continuing on without them. It was stupid to carry on, she knew. Visiting the town's small air field and bartering for a ride back to the one she had originally landed at seemed the better idea. Going home and calling it quits, in hindsight, was the sensible thing to do. She sighed and put her flask away. Maybe it was the desire to see the temple for herself or maybe she wasn't thinking straight, more traumatized by the jungle and the tribe than she realised. She gazed into the lingering haze that blanketed the marshland, staring at the dark shape on the horizon, obscured by the haze. She slowly emerged from her thoughts as she realized what the shape must be; the Temple of Nidaya.

She pulled herself up out of her resting squat and pressed on, determined to see it for herself.

The temple was a massive building, sprawling across two and a half miles of marsh, it's true dimensions obscured by the sheer scale of it. It sat on a giant flat of rock that was draped with the hardy marsh flora, glistening moss and flowering vines a sickly green colour. The temple itself was of intricate design, a multitude of frescoes carved into the dark stone of its walls and twisting pillars. A wide set of steps, slick with disuse, led the way to a set of high, arched doors carved from slabs of black granite. It was almost as if they were beckoning anyone brave enough to enter the dark interior and explore the depths of the lost temple. Krissy took a deep, steadying breath and shook of her sudden feeling of trepidation. She was stood at the foot of the steps, looking at the building, mouth open. It was an awesome sight, if deeply unsettling. She couldn't see the seams between the individual blocks of marble and granite slabs that the place was constructed from. Each block fit together so well, it looked as if it had been carved from a mountain.

She was snapped out of her silent appreciation for the architecture by a low, rumbling sound that was carried to her on the damp, humid breeze. She looked around, a bolt of fear racing through her. She heard it again and this time it sounded closer; a wet, rumbling groan that sounded more like a threat than an animal call. She listened carefully, trying to pinpoint the direction it came from and was distracted by another low rumble from the opposite direction. She looked around frantically, splashing through the muddy, ankle deep water as she circled, trying to detect the location of the sounds. She was at the foot of the stairs and she was damned if she was going to turn back now she had found the temple. She couldn't see anything beyond her immediate surroundings; the water was perfectly still, the trees and sharp grass swaying gently in the breeze. She looked up at the imposing temple doors. Huge stone doors, waiting for someone to enter. Waiting for her to enter.

Her fingers wrapped around the wooden handle of her dagger and she hurried up the steps, panting with exertion, the spot between her shoulder blades itching as an unexplained fear rose in her chest. Her leg muscles burned as she moved but the low rumbling around her urged her on. She got the feeling that if she didn't make it inside, she would be in a great deal trouble. The hair on the back of her neck prickled and she swung around, dagger slicing out. A disgruntled chuff greeted her blade as she slashed at the blunt nose of the biggest newt she had ever seen. No. It wasn't a newt, she realised as she took a step back to put some space between her and it. It was almost a newt. It was at least fifteen feet long with hard, mud coloured armour plates across the top of its snout, head, back and tail. Its scales were dappled with black and brown camouflage and hard spines marched down its back in glistening, black spires. It cocked a head crowned with flattened horns as it inspected her with what she could only describe as indignity, it's crimson throat pouch vibrating with each exhalation of rancid, hot breath.

Another of the creatures appeared, crawling out of the mud of the marsh, its scales and armour plating a reddish-brown. It leapt effortlessly up the side of the staircase wall and landed behind her. She was trapped, the only route of escape being over the sides of the sairs, down into the marsh below. She turned, putting both creatures in her peripheral so she could watch them, her knife held at the ready. Though what kind of damage she could do with a wooden knife, she didn't know. If they were something smaller or another furred then she could kill them. But these things were monstrous, armour plated beasts, the likes of which she had never seen before.

The red beast crept closer, head lowered, a low, rumbling hiss passing between its dagger-like teeth. She flashed her knife across its snout, a thin line of red opening up. It jerked its head back and she jabbed at the other, leaving a splinter of wood in a flared nostril ridge. It swiped at her and she danced back on the steps, its black claws tearing three lines in her shirt. The one behind her snapped its teeth at her and she hissed at it, punching it on the nose where she had wounded it. She lurched out of the way of its swiping claw, lost her balance on the greasy steps and slid down, towards the other creature, unable to arrest her fall.

The edges of the marble steps hammered into her back as she slipped down the stairs, sliding between its legs, pounding new bruises into her already aching body. She landed, stunned, with a splash at the foot of the steps and pulled herself upright, spitting stagnant water and mud out of her mouth whilst blindly fumbling for her dagger. She cursed. She must've dropped it on the way down, losing her grip in her bone jarring slide into the marsh. She looked up at the temple door. The two creatures were snapping at each other as they jostled for space on the stairs. She hoped they would keep each other busy for long enough for her to escape. They started wrestling on the steps, a tangle of thrashing limbs and hissing roars. The temple steps were wide enough for one of them, but for two abreast, it was a squeeze. She took the opportunity of their distraction and ran.

There was a bellow of amphibian rage and the two monsters broke apart and barreled down the steps in pursuit of her. Krissy ran hard, stumbling and tripping in the marsh, circling around the temple, looking for a gap in the rocky foundation or some way to climb up and over the curtain wall to safety. The first creature caught up with her with ease, its powerful tail and webbed feet making light work of the marsh. It roared out of the marsh in a plume of mud and water and flattened against the muddy bank of a small, grassy island that rose a few feet out of the water. Trees loomed over head, their gnarled branches and moss curtains the perfect backdrop for the monster atop her.

Winded, she kicked feebly at it, pressing against its throat to keep it from biting her head off. She was tiny in comparison to it, but the desire to not be eaten alive drove her to fight it with every remaining ounce of strength she had. It snapped at her again and she punched it hard in the nostril. She kicked at its stomach and snarled obsceneties as it clawed at her wriggling body. She pulled herself out from beneath it and was dragged backwards by a claw hooked through her belt. She fumbled her belt and slipped out of it, throwing herself forward, hoping to find a sizeable rock she could smash against it or a sturdy enough branch to spear it with. She heard a tearing of fabric as she scrabbled frantically through the grass, cutting her hands on the sharp blades as the monster lumbered over her.

The hazy sun was blotted out and she cried out in shock and surprise as the creature pinned her shoulders to the ground with one large, webbed foreclaw and positioned itself above her. She froze, waiting for the teeth to clamp down on her head and crush her. Instead, she got a hard, slick penis thrust into her, spreading her wide. She let out a strangled cry, horror and disgust freezing her. Then she started wriggling, trying to break free of the creature's grip, but it only seemed to encourage it. She pressed her face into the mud as it pounded into her, the transluscent mucus that oozed from its skin dripping down on her back and pooling up around her torutured pussy. She could feel the creature's natural lubricant running thickly down her thighs and creeping in sticky strands up her stomach.

Her whimpers slowly evolved into moans and the creature's pace intensified, spurred on by her involuntary sounds of pleasure. It grunted above her as it pounded into her, its fat, slick cock rendering her limp beneath it. It let out a deep throated bellow, its neck sack inflating and flushing a vivid scarlet. Krissy whimpered again, feeling the creature's cock twitch inside her. There was a rush of heat and it overflowed, spurting out of her stretched pussy in arcing strings of white. The creature held position for what felt like an eternity, unloading its seed into her before it settled then pulled out, staggering off lazily to one side, apparently satisfied with a job well done. It left her alone, sauntering back into the marsh without a second glance and she gingerly pushed herself up on weak arms and took a shuddering breath. She felt more violated than before. Being ensnared by vines was one thing. Being slapped to the ground by a giant newt-dragon thing and getting railed was another.

For a start, her legs and groin ached. She was covered in the slime that the creature produced; it was up her shirt and between her small breasts, coated her back and she was sure there was a copious amount inside her, too. She could feel it oozing thickly out of her as the muscles in her groin and abdomen twitched spasmodically in the aftermath of her orgasm. She twisted around and looked down at herself. Her fur was matted with mucus and mud, and thick white semen oozed from between her legs. She pressed a hand to her abdomen, applying light pressure. The creature's thick seed oozed out of her in a copious burst. She sighed. Did it just impregnate her? Or was she genetically incompatible with whatever the hell that monster was? She hoped so. The last thing she wanted was to birth more monsters.

Then she remembered the second one, the one with the red skin tone, the bigger one. She looked around at the hazy landscape and couldn't see it. But then, she hadn't seen them before, only heard them. She wondered how deep the marsh was and if it could completely conceal something that big. She heard the rumbling growl again and backed up against the tree, back to searching for a weapon of some sort. The tree creaked and roots were wrenched out of the earth in gouts of mud. With a surprised yelp, Kriss fell backwards into the hole where the tree had once stood. She blinked away the dirt in her eyes and looked up into the stern, glistening face of the red creature.

'Oh shit.'

It casually tossed the tree to one side and she scrambled to her feet, climbing out of the hole on shaking legs. It pounced, knocking her flat and she braced herself, waiting for its next move. By this point, she thought, having her head bitten off would be preferable to being raped. Its hot breath gusted against the back of her head as she slowly, carefully, tried to surreptitiously extract herself from beneath it. She had had her fill of being taken advantage of by the local wildlife. Its teeth slid around the back of her neck and she froze. It held her there, on her stomach purely through the lightest of touches with its fangs. It almost felt as if it was mocking her or testing her. The idea of that level of intelligence in an overgrown amphibian was not a pleasant idea to entertain.

She slowly arched beneath it, raising her hips to get her knees under her. If she could duck from its teeth, roll out from beneath it and come up in a sprint, she could could be at the bottom of the temple steps before it killed her.

It plunged into her and she screamed, 'That wasn't an invitation you bastard!'

It started thrusting, its teeth still millimeters from her neck. She grabbed wads of the sodden earth in her fists and she clenched her teeth. Its first thrust into her had sent a pressurised fountain of semen out from between her legs. Now she was covered in mud, stagnant water, mucus and monster cum. She shuddered in traitorous delight, giving up and going with the flow. There was no way out of the situation and so she opted to let the creature have its way with her. She squirmed involuntarily, her nerves singing a mixed chorus of pain and pleasure and humiliation. She felt its hot breath on the back of her neck, the warm mucus sliding in thick ropes from its hide and the build up of it against her pussy, coating her inner thighs as it railed her.

She cried out, an orgasm tearing through her and she clamped down on its smooth cock, her spasming muscles trying to draw its thick cock deeper. Her eyes rolled up in her head and her tongue lolled, her voice cracking and her breathing coming harsh as it hammered into her, lasting far longer than the last one had. Another orgasm tore at her body and she arched beneath it, her toned ass pressing against its smooth belly. She rocked with the motion, her heart pounding in her ears, half hearing it grunting above her as it exerted all its efforts into impregnating her. She whispered encouragement to it in strained tones and quietly begged it to fill her up. She felt it shudder above her and its cock, pressed deep inside her, pulsed hard, twitching with enough force to lift her knees off the ground.

It came inside her, a hard rush of heat pouring into her, squirting past quivering lips and leaving her gasping, face down on the ground. It felt like an age had passed and as if it had pumped a couple of gallons of semen into her, but the creature pulled away, its cock sliding slowly from her pussy with a satisfyingly slick sound. It turned away from her and slipped into the haze of the marsh, leaving Krissy laying in the mud, in a pool of slime and semen, shivering with exertion and basking in a wretched afterglow.

After a while, she tried sitting up, but exhaustion overtook her, with embarrasment hot its heels as she came back to her senses. And then shame followed. Shame for enjoying it, shame for wanting to be mounted again by the two creatures and shame that she hadn't come better prepared for her journey.

She slumped back to the ground and was soon sleeping
