A story about an Eevee couple going out on a sweet little adventure. (Chapter 1)

Eevee sighed as she sat in the forest, waiting for her trainer to return. Her trainer, a boy named Cody, had ditched her in the woods a few days ago, saying he would be back if he thought it was "worth it", but she hadn't seen any sign of the boy since his disappearance. Eevee had been with him ever since she was born, having hatched in his care, finding out later she had been bred by two of his strongest Pokemon: Jolteon and Vaporeon, both of whom never really acknowledged her as their offspring. She didn't blame them, though. Cody made sure their lives as some of his strongest Pokemon were spent solely in battle, other than the short amount of time he had left them at a daycare to bond and breed. They had known that was his plan, of course, and neither Pokemon really harbored feelings for each other. Bonding was just something they had done because they knew they had to, and Eevee was a product of that. She didn't care, though. She simply wanted to go on living the life she had been given.

A small whine escaped Eevee as she sat in front of the tree her trainer had left her by. _Cody...Cody, where are you? _She wondered silently. Deep inside she was begging for her trainer to return. She _needed him _and she thought he had always felt the same.

This could be some sort of strength test, _Eevee reasoned with herself as she started to pace around. _If I act weak, I'll likely fail his test. I should just sit here where he left me and be patient. He'll return...

A deep growl from the bushes nearby made Eevee's long ears twitched. Startled, she turned her head to look in the direction the noise had come from.

"Hello?" Eevee called. She didn't recognize the growl but she knew it was from some sort of other Pokemon, one that she definitely had never fought before. She sniffed the air curiously but was unable to tell what the scent was. In fact, she had never been on her own in the forest and every smell was so bizarre that she wasn't sure what _anything _was. Everything was foreign to her. She just hoped Cody would return soon...

A Pokemon with blades for arms leaped out of the trees, stabbing one of its blades down onto Eevee's spine. She let out a shocked and pained cry of terror, struggling to get away from the terrifying beast. Other than its scythe-like arms, its body was pure green, with wings that twitched and buzzed loudly as it attacked her. She squealed from the agony as it slashed at her face with its other arm.

"Hey!" She cried, struggling to push the creature away with one of her paws. "W-what are you doing? Stop it! Pokemon d-don't kill each other during battle! It's not in the rules!" She fell to the ground and managed to roll away from the bug Pokemon's sharp blades.

The bug Pokemon snorted. "You're a stupid Pokemon if you think this is a _battle! _You're my dinner, fool!" It dove toward her, raising its scythe again to attack her.

Eevee froze, her eyes widening in pure terror. "D-dinner?" She shrieked, dodging just in time to avoid the creature's powerful slashing claws. She at least had speed on her side, even if she wasn't the strongest Pokemon around.

The Pokemon scowled at her, fury flashing in its dark eyes. "Stop talking, prey! I just need a meal!" It flung itself at Eevee and slammed into her, tackling her to the ground. Winded, Eevee was unable to fight back as its sharp claws penetrated the flesh on her side, stabbing and twisting into her flank. She screamed out in pure agony, writhing in pain.

This is it! _She thought, horrified. _I'm going to die...I must have failed Cody's test by not surviving.

The Pokemon's sharp scythes suddenly tore themselves free and she heard the Pokemon let out a cry. The sound of something snarling and attacking it, driving it away from her, was the last thing Eevee heard before she fell unconscious.

Eevee opened her eyes with a groan as pain throbbed in her side. Branches of a large bush surrounded her. She frowned, her heart beginning to beat faster, as she realized she had no idea where she was. Memories of being attacked by the Pokemon all came back to her and she covered her head with her paws, whimpering.

"You're awake!" A hushed yet relieved voice exclaimed, causing her to remove her paws from her eyes. She was surprised to see a Flareon standing in front of her. Cody had a Flareon, which she believed was given to him by another trainer, and Eevee had seen one or two in battle, but this one seemed different. The Flareon standing before her was rather thin compared to the ones she had seen before, though not so thin that she looked like she was starving. A large scar ran across her face, which would've her appear slightly intimidating if not for the happy smile on her face. One of her ears was half the length of a normal Flareon ear, having clearly been torn in some sort of battle, and several patches of fur were missing from her flank.

"Where am I?" Eevee asked, relieved to be in the presence of someone friendly. "How did I get here? Who are you?"

The scarred Flareon gently touched Eevee's shoulder with one of her paws. It was a comforting gesture. "Hush, little one. You need to rest right now. The wounds that Scyther gave you are deep. Scamper is out right now fetching some oran berries to help and some cobweb or moss to help with the bleeding. Those leaves won't last forever." She nodded to Eevee's flank. Eeevee twisted around to look and saw that leaves had been plastered against her flank where the Pokemon had stabbed its scythes into it.

"O-oh," She stammered, unsure of what to say. She was glad the leaves were currently covering the wound. She really didn't want to see how it looked underneath. She glanced curiously at the Flareon again. "Did you say the Pokemon was called a Scyther?" She asked, hoping this question would at least be answered.

The Flareon twitched her torn ear, looking surprised. "Are you telling me you haven't seen a Scyther before? They're very common around here." Concern softened her features. "Maybe you were injured more badly than I thought..."

"No, no, I'm fine," Eevee replied quickly. Sure, pain was stabbing at every place she had been cut by the Scyther's sharp arms, but other than that she was completely fine, especially where her memory and head were concerned. "I'm not from here. I...I was traveling with my trainer for a while. He left me where the Scyther attacked me and I've been waiting for him ever since."

For some reason, the Flareon looked sad. She averted her gaze. "Ah, yes. Scamper and I were afraid of that..."

"Afraid?" Eevee echoed, frowning. "Of what? And who is Scamper?"

"Scamper was with me when I helped rescue you," The Flareon explained. "He's an Eevee, just like you, although he was born in the forest and has lived here his entire life."

Eevee blinked as curiosity overwhelmed her. "An Eevee? Born in the wild? You're wild Pokemon?"

"Yep," The Flareon seemed proud at this, for she puffed out her chest. "Well, Scamper was born here. _I _left my trainer to live out here." She grinned at Eevee. "Been living here ever since."

Eevee was shocked. "You...left your trainer?" She was in complete disbelief. "But...why?"

The Flareon shrugged. "Living in some ball and being tossed out to fight random Pokemon whenever a human decided he wanted me to wasn't the kind of life I wanted. To keep it short, I like to pave my own path." She reached up with her paw to touch the scar on her face and chuckled. "Even _if _my own path has led me into trouble sometimes."

"Oh," Eevee blinked at her, not really sure how to respond to the other Pokemon's statement. "I see."

"My name is Ashley, by the way," The Flareon said cheerfully. "What's yours?"

"Mine is Eevee," Eevee replied. "The same name as our species."

Ashley barked a startlingly loud laugh. "Ha! I forgot that some trainers lack the creativity to even _name _their Pokemon!

Before Eevee could open her jaws to defend Pokemon trainers, the branches of the bush rustled around them, which was quite startling to Eevee after having been attacked by the Scyther.

An Eevee walked in with a bundle made out of a huge leaf in his jaws. She stared at him in surprise. He was skinny, just like Ashley, but had muscle that rippled underneath his fur. His eyes were full of energy and life, and his fur, despite being a wild Pokemon, was just as soft and silky as any tamed Pokemon.

"You must be Scamper," Eevee said, remembering what Ashley had told her about the other Eevee that lived there. She smiled at him. "She told me you were getting oran berries and something to help cover my wound." She tried to sit up only to wince and settle down instantly.

"Stay still," Ashley told her, gently resting one of her front paws on her back. "You were hurt bad. You need to keep resting if you want to recover."

Eevee nodded.

Scamper finally set the bundle down and spoke. "That's right, I'm Scamper." His voice was one that was cheerful and friendly, which immediately made Eevee relax even more. He unwrapped the bundle and revealed oran berries and small clusters of moss. "These are for you. Eat these berries, they should help with the pain and healing process."

Eevee nodded, obediently lapping up the berries. She let out a contented sigh. Oran berries were something Cody had fed her multiple times to help her recover from any injuries she had received in battle. "Thanks so much!" She squeaked, gazing happily at Scamper.

"Of course!" Scamper replied. He sat down beside Ashley and looked at the moss. "I should have gathered more moss. I could soak it and use it to clean the wounds in case they get infected." He cast a worried look at the leaves plastered on Eevee's flank.

"She'll be fine," Ashley replied with a flick of her thick yellow tail. "I've seen Pokemon survive wounds worse than this without any trouble. If there are any signs of infection, I might go to the Ivysaur field nearby and see if they can do anything to help."

Scamper looked relieved. "Yeah, you're right. That's a good idea." He turned back to Eevee, who had just finished swallowing all the berries and was now lying comfortably on her uninjured side, feeling better now that she had eaten some of the healing berries. "Would you like us to be quiet so you can nap?"

Eevee shook her head. "No, even if you talk I'll fall asleep." She felt a wave of gratitude toward the two strangers. "Thank you so much from saving me from that Pokemon! I thought I was a goner for sure!"

"Of course!" Ashley lifted her chin and puffed out her chest. "It would be dishonorable of us not to help a Pokemon in need. If that idiot Scyther wants something to eat it can have berries and fruits. It doesn't need to harm innocent Pokemon like yourself." She swished her fluffy tail and grinned at Eevee.

"How did you know where I was?" Eevee asked, angling her long ears curiously toward the two other Eeveelutions.

"Well, for one thing, Scamper and I have been aware of you sitting in the same spot for a few days," Ashley explained, "So we decided to keep an eye out for you. For another...well, we were out about to collect some berries when we heard you screaming. We knew you needed help and got there as soon as we could."

"Why were you sitting there for days like that?" Scamper asked. He sniffed at her, concern showing in his dark eyes. "Are...are you sick?"

Eevee shook her head. "Not at all. My trainer left me there and I was waiting for him to come back. I'm sure he'll be back for me soon." Eevee frowned at the realization that she wasn't waiting in the spot anymore and she could miss Cody's return at any moment. She rose to her paws in an instant, her eyes wide. She winced from the pain but didn't care. "I need to go back there! What if he comes by and I miss it?"

Scamper and Ashley exchanged a glance. Eevee frowned at them. They seemed to be almost...pitying her.

"What's with the looks?" Eevee demanded.

"You need to rest," Ashley said softly, pressing her muzzle against Eevee to gently nudge her back down. "We can talk about this tomorrow."

"But...my trainer..." Eevee protested, her voice trailing off.

"He probably won't come while you rest," Scamper said, though he winced at his own words for reasons Eevee couldn't understand. "Besides, you're safer here than you were over there by that tree, trust me."

Eevee frowned, but nodded and gave in. "I guess you're right..." She murmured, settling down to begin the long wait for recovery.

Once I am done healing up I will be there to wait for you, Cody! _Eevee vowed silently as she closed her eyes. _I will be stronger and no Pokemon will stop be from reuiniting with you...
