#4 of Destiny?

Sorry it took so long to get this one up. This is mainly from Jack's point of view since, hey, it's his date- ================================================================================ Part three continued- Jack's POV- "I told you it was closed today," says Kyle as Jack pulls out of the empty movie theater. This kind of threw a wrench in Jack's plans, now he had hours to kill and nothing to do. This meant he either had to stall for a long time, or just go home for a while, which really wasn't part of his plan. "So what do we do now?" Jack asks. "I don't know, you're the one who decided to go. Actually, this all seems pretty planned, what are you doing, taking me on a date or something?" asks Kyle in a mock-suggestive voice. "Yeah that's it, and I'm just doing the gentlemanly thing and letting you chose where we go," says Jack, who was glad that Kyle didn't mind not being able to go, even if he didn't even know originally. "Hey now, if anyone's the guy it's me," Kyle says. "Really, when I'm the one who asked you out and everything, your obviously some chick that I picked up," "Well then your either really desperate or a really cheap whore looking for a 'job'," says Kyle, prodding Jack playfully. "Well if we are doing the boyfriend/girlfriend stereotypes, I've got one. It's MY car and IM driving, what do you say to that?" Jack asks smugly. "Ooooh stereotypes, big word for you isn't it, where's the hidden encyclopedia?" "You didn't answer my question," Jack says, making sure to make his voice grow even smugger by the word. "... you know what, I say we get ice-cream... hoe," says Kyle, for once loosing one of their mock arguments. "Give up do you?" Jack asks, wanting to drag out the victory as far as he could. "Bitch get me some ice-cream!" says Kyle, almost laughing. "We haven't even had dinner yet." Kyle scoffs obnoxiously, "'We haven't had dinner yet'? I may be the girl for now, but you're the little mommy's boy." "-and your dating the mommy's boy," replies Jack; boy was he on a roll. "...ass," "I thought we where getting ice-cream though?" "...Damn it I'm slow today! Let's just go get some ice-cream because my brain must be malfunctioning to loose to you I need to cool down or something." --- "Okay we're here at your little ice-cream place, are you happy now?" says Jack mock-condescendingly. "Yeah! Ice-cream's the shit!" Kyle says boisterously. "Wait, I thought you wanted ass remember?" "Nope, but if you want there is an ass-bar down the street if your interested," says Kyle, opening the door for Jack. Jack didn't have anything to say to that, so he merely sighed and walked through; the victory was fun while it lasted. --+--+ * * *

+++_________+=+++++ Kyle's POV- Kyle felt the cool breeze of the air condition flow over him as he opened the door to the ice-cream shop. He always liked it here, it was cool, calm, and was filled by the unmistakable scent of ice-cream. Kyle was no fanatic or anything, but their was something about the presence of ice-cream, like a refreshing brake on a hot summer day to recuperate from your long and hard job (though Kyle had none at the moment) into the cool air-conditioned haven of... well, some place with ice-cream in it. He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts, he always had a habit of drifting off into weird musings like that without reason, it was weird and he didn't wan Jack left alone while he dozed off. "Kyle, are you getting something or not?" asks Jack, fully shaking him from his thoughts. "Yeah, and I am buying by the way," Kyle says. Hey, he had to protect his masculinity somehow. "Nope, I got it," says Jack, blocking Kyle's way so he couldn't get past to pay before both of them got their selective scoops. "Dick," "Yep," "Why do you want to pay anyway?" "Because, since I asked you out, it would be rude of me not to pay." "Yeah, well, that still doesn't make you the man in the relationship-thingy." "Says you-" "Hey, we better give our order, I think we are freaking the cashier out," and indeed the cashier was giving them a really weird look. Probably because he thought they really where dating or something, which was an assumption Kyle couldn't force himself to hate at the moment, he was too happy at the time to care very much; Jack just gave him a feeling of... contentment if he was with him for too long, so, it was impossible for him to make up any arguments in his head right now. After they watched the server scoop up their ice-cream, they walked up the long row-ish line to pay for it. Just as Jack pulled out his Wallet (he had used his bigger size to keep Kyle from getting in front of him) Kyle got an idea. He did this kind of grunting-yelp thing and jumped back; causing an alarmed Jack to swing around to see what was wrong. Kyle then took that opportunity to duck under his arm and quickly shove the cash into a startled cashier's hand. Then shot Jack a gloating smile as he still tried to grasp what was going on. "Ah... you," says Jack, grasping for the right words. "Devious whore? Manipulating Dick? Yeah I know," Kyle grabs both of the ice-cream bowls and heads towards a set of tables, making sure to put an annoying 'ha ha' posture in each step he took. They sat for a while, eating in a comfortable silence, since neither felt that they needed a conversation to make sure they where okay with each other. Because of course they where, it was kind of in their nature to be complete asses to each other. Kyle looked over in Jacks direction and was startled to see him staring at him with some, deep expression on his face. As soon as Jack noticed that Kyle had seen him he replaced the look with a goofy grin and grabbed a napkin. "Hey, come here," he says, motioning with a finger. And with that he grabs the back of Kyles head and presses the napkin against his face, wiping away the slight bit of ice cream that had coated their like a mother would to her child. Of course this made Kyle spill half the partially melted ice cream all over his lap, which, must have been really uncomfortable. -+--+-+__+_+___+__++___++__++__++_++_++++___+_+_+++___+_+_+_ Jack's POV- Jack was glad that his little ploy worked. He had been intently thinking of Kyle when he spotted him; he was actually going over a practiced conversation in his head that he would use to tell Kyle how he felt. Fortunately, Kyle seemed to have forgotten the weird look when Jack wiped his face off. Un-fortunately Jack now had freezing-dairy products all over his crotch, which was both uncomfortable and embarrassing. Kyle merely laughed, "something tells me that this evening is mostly going to be about who can be the bigger ass-hole," "So pretty much like always then huh?" says Jack, wiping the ice-cream of his pants with a napkin. "Yep, I guess so." Somehow they managed to waste like two hours just sitting around talking like that. Jack was surprised when he looked at his watch and noticed that it was almost time for dinner; well it was a bit early but still in the time-limit. "Hey, do you want to go get something to eat?" Jack asks. Kyle shrugged, "I guess so, but isn't it a little early for dinner?" "A little, but we have been here for like, two hours," "Oh, well, alright then, where should we go?" Kyle asks. "I was thinking Ryan's," "Okay, but that seems a little semi-formal to me though." "Well I wouldn't do anything else for my 'date' would I?" Jack teases, "It's the least that I could do." "Don't give me that," says Kyle in an equally teasing voice, "we all know that you just want me for my body, even he does." He finishes indicating the server behind the ice-cream bar. "Oh-darn, you figured me out," Jack says, holding the door open for Kyle, who in turn held open the main door for Jack. --- Ryan's was about thirty minutes away from where they where, but Jack didn't mind. It was good to take your time on things like this, you don't want to rush into anything, even dinner. Unfortunately, dinner was not going to happen at Ryan's. "It looks like they are adding some new segment or something," Kyle says as they walk back to the car. "Well, what are we suppose to do now?" asks Jack, who was getting really discouraged that all his ideas where failing. "We could always go to McDonalds or burger king or something." "I suppose so," Jack says sighing. --- The up side of going to a fast-food restaurant was that they got their food a whole lot faster, the bad part was that getting their food faster meant that they had a whole lot more time to kill to wait for the race/carnival thing. At leas this meant that Jack had more time to spend with Kyle, which was the main point of going out anyway. Even though Kyle didn't know this was a date. "Do you really need all that ketchup and mustard?" Jack asks, indicating the huge pile of packets on Kyle's tray. "Yes," Kyle says as he begins eating his food. "What do you need all of that for?" Jack starts on his own food. "Well, I like to draw with them, the only problem with that, is if ketchup and mustard mix they make a really gross color so you've got to be careful." "I've never heard of anyone over the age of six playing with their ketchup," says Jack. "That's just because they give up easily, I don't, and besides, I started this at like-thirteen," Kyle says, pretending to be offended. "Oh, well, I've been told haven't I?" "You sure have," says Kyle. The food didn't last long, so they had more time to get rid of than Jack originally thought, but Kyle seemed amused enough. Actually, he had begun drawing with the condiments, and Jack was surprised to see how, cool it looked. He had expected it to look childish and simple, but Kyle manipulated it so that it looked like an actual drawing. He was doing artistic motions or things to make it so too, like using the edge of the packet to move a blob of ketchup into it's desired shape. "Wow, that's actually pretty cool," Jack admits. "Told you so," says Kyle childishly as he continues his little picture. "How come I haven't seen you draw much else, well, other than what is assigned to you, you are really good." "Thanks, but I'm no where near as good as my sister," Kyle confesses, "I usually do abstract art that's all sloppy, but she has a way of putting detailed figures into her abstract art, making it like ten times better than mine." "Yeah, but how do you come up with ideas like this, not only for your drawing, but in your music. I kind of listened to your song the other day by the way." Jack says. "Hey, who says you're aloud to stalk me?" asks Kyle, putting down the finishing touches on his drawing. "No, you haven't answered my question, how do you come up with this stuff?" "Well, really not too differently than when I come up with songs," Kyle explains, "you see, I lock a certain feeling in my head and don't let it go. Then, I try to thing as hard as I can while it's in their, trying to find the best way to express it. Then, I try to inspire myself with other sorts of music or pictures before I draw or play the actual thing. See, when I make something, I like to put exactly what I am feeling at the time in it. I want whoever has enough time to listen or watch be able to feel like I feel, or at least see how I felt. Well, even though I usually don't show-off my stuff to other people anyway." "That's actually really deep," says Jack, glad that Kyle opened up to him this much, "I'd like to see some of the other stuff you come up with." ----+_---+----+ * * *

__++=-=-__--______

  • * * Kyle's POV- Kyle was amazed at how easy this was. Just, talking to Jack for the small time he had known him he had revealed more about himself than Keith ever knew, and he had known Keith for years. It wasn't just this little incident either, Jack had got him to talk about himself more than this; he was so... Kyle didn't know how to put it, but it was a good thing, he was tired of no-one knowing what he was. "Wow, looks like the carnival is about open already," says Jack, as he glances at his watch. "That's cool," Kyle says, secretly disappointed that he hadn't been able to get to know anything more about Jack than he had. This day was going by so fast, Kyle just wanted to grab on to a moment and latch himself on their so he didn't miss anything, but he might as well not say anything, Jack seemed to think he was getting bored or something, which was why he kept rushing them to different places. "So do you want to go now?" asks Jack, seeming lost for a second. "I guess so; how far away is this carnival anyway?" Kyle asks as they start to leave. "A few miles back, hope it doesn't rain though, this particular one has a habit of closing at the slightest hint of rain." says Jack as he starts the car. --- At first it seemed like the carnival was still going, but at a closer look Kyle saw that they where actually taking everything down. Jack seemed disappointed, but Kyle had an idea. "That was kind of predictable," says Jack as they back out to get on a road. "You mean the fact that all your plans failed miserably?" Kyle jokes. "Yep," "Well how about we do what we have been doing this whole time and do my idea instead?" "I guess that's cool, where do you want to go?" asks Jack. "Well, since you've picked up an interest for art, I say we go to the art gallery down town, its actually pretty cool," "I'll take your word for it, but I've never really liked museums," says Jack as Kyle showed him the way. "It's not a museum actually. It's a spot where people around this area can put up their ideas for criticism; the gallery usually picks out the best one for that month and keeps it, then puts up another group of pictures drawn from the previous month and so on. It's relatively new, and most people don't know about it, but it's still a cool place to hang out." explains Kyle. "That actually does sound neat. Have you put up anything in their?" asks Jack. "No, like I said, I usually just keep my drawings and stuff to myself. --- As soon as Kyle and Jack walked into the large room Kyle knew that he had gone to the right place. Jack seemed to be very interested in the paintings, sketches, and straight up doodles that where set up around the maze-like building. All the doors had been removed from the former-school building and the doors where set up in new positions, all painted and drawn on to make a new room or wall. They always ended up changing the way the doors where set up so that it was different every month or so. "Wow, this IS really neat," says Jack, admiring a fantasy forest-landscape painting. "Yeah, you get a lot of different people adding stuff in here, and it sets up a lot of diversity, if you look around hard enough you'll find that they have rooms dedicated to a certain kind of drawing. I like how it's always changing, that this place is never the same the next time you walk in it," says Kyle, enjoying Jack's obvious excitement. "I love that you can see the people in these drawings, not physically, but mentally, like you said. I've always liked how different minds can create different things always. Even if two furs wanted to draw the exact same thing it would turn out different because of whom they are. It's nice to see how people's minds work and act in these paintings." Jack says, showing a really deep side that Kyle had only seen a few times since he had known him. They kept walking, and eventually ended up in a room dedicated to dark-surreal pictures, in which Kyle was surprised that Jack enjoyed these dark pictures. He had expected him to mostly like cheerful nice paintings according to his personality, but he viewed these with just as much interest as he had the others. ++-+_++_++++-=+++-++-+____+==+-+=_+=--==--=+-==-=+=+-++=+_-=_++++-- Jack's POV- Jack was simply amazed at this new wonderful building he had never known of before. Kyle was their beside him the whole time, explaining things to him and shared a few things about what he felt about the drawings with him, which Jack did the same for him. He liked knowing how Kyle felt about these new works of art, and was only glad to share with him his own thoughts, unguarded, well, minus the part that he wanted to date him right now. The new room he was brought in was simply perfect. He like almost every picture in their, the reason was, well, they reminded him of Kyle. All of them where kind of dark, but had a deep presents in them, as if their was something more to the picture than was shown, and it also seemed to show that their was always something more to see, and he was hungry for it. Which was why he made sure to examine each painting carefully to see what he could find, as if, in the pictures, he could find remnants of the other pictures, as if they where all connected somehow. He shared all of this with Kyle, minus the part of how they reminded him of Kyle himself, but of all the other parts. Jack was sensing that the time to come clean was drawing nearer, and he was not nervous anymore. Well, maybe a little, but he felt like he needed to tell Kyle. He had made so much progress with him today that he felt waiting more time was only going to weaken the opportunity. "Hey Kyle," Jack says as he picks up the courage, "do you want to go drive around for a little bit?" "Sure, I guess so," says Kyle brightly. --- Finally, this was the moment, they had been driving around and Jack had parked somewhere near their house. "Hey Kyle, can I tell you something?" asks Jack, feeling a little weak with nervousness. "Yeah, I guess so," "Well, we've known each other for a week right, and, I think your really neat." "Thanks, your pretty cool too," Kyle says in an unusual seriousness. "Well, I might as well get to the point," Jack says, feeling his chest getting a numbing feeling and his arms heating up in anticipation, "err, I like you, as... more than a friend. It kind of started the first day we met and it's been growing ever since that. I just really want to know... will you go out with me?" Silence- The silence coming from Kyle was hear-breaking. It wasn't a contemplating silence, just a blank, nothing silence. A lump started to grow at the back of Jack's throat, Kyle wasn't saying anything. Was it because he was disgusted, no, he knew Kyle, if he was disgusted he would have said so. Was it... fear? Was he afraid what Jack would do if he said no, as if Jack would, get angry or take advantage of him? This was worse than Jack could have imagined, yelling or complete rejection would have been better than this, and he wasn't about to say that Kyle didn't need to be afraid because that would only insult him. So Jack just started up the car again, and headed home, trying his best to ignore the swelling in his throat, he wasn't going to cry, he didn't want to make it worse than it was already. ========================================================================================== And that is the end of the prologue I know, what happened? Don't worry too much though, like I said, this is only the prolog, so, it's not like this is the end or anything, so keep reading. And for future reference, if somehting really bad happens and it looks hopeless or the end or something, keep reading, because I'm not going to leave you guy's hanging to bad, even though it might take me a bit to make the ext chapter.
