First off, I don't own any of the Digimon chars or any nicknames that involved in the story. However I do own Alphonse aka Al. I apologized first hand if there are any grammar and/or spelling errors because my English is my second. Anything else, please enjoy.

Chapter 40: Warm Friendship

Al stood bravely against the Ogremons in GeoGreymon's form. Al studied all four of them slowly. The Ogremons has recovered from their paralysis and slowly stood up in fighting stance. Al finished his analysis and lunge to the nearest Ogremon. Al lowered his head and used his "Horn Impulse!" to attack him.

The attacked Ogremon saw it but did not react fast enough. The Horn Impulse hit him but deals little damages. The Ogremon grabbed Al's horn helmet and tossed him to the side. "Crap, I'm not strong enough." Al grunted for his weakness.

"He is weaker than I thought." Ogremon laughed and began to bash Al brutally. Two more follows while the last one walked slowly toward Vilvet.

Al manages to withstand the multiple heavy blows. Al saw the last Ogremon is approaching Vilvet. Al uses "Mega Burst!" attack but nothing happen. 'What is going on?' Al asked in confusion but did not care. He quickly lunges toward the Orgemon that attacks Vilvet ignoring the blow from the rest Ogremons.

Al used his tail to swipe the Ogremon away from Vilvet. Al quickly moved at Vilvet's front. "Don't you even dare touch her!" Al growled at them.

Three of them grumbled and one of them gave a sinister snicker at him. "He is weaker than the fake. Let's finish them." The laughing Ogremon ordered. The other Orgremons smirk and ready their clubs.

Al did not understand why he cannot use his power, but he knew that he can't win more less survive against Ogremons. The Ogremons pick their pace and run towards Al and Vilvet. All Al can do is covered Vilvet with his own body from their attacks. The Ogremons starts to swing their clubs. Al was hit by the clubs and roar in pain but he endures it.

Vilvet saw the horror and show some courage to fight back. Al saw it through the pain and quickly stopped her. "No. Don't fight them." Al told her in pain. Vilvet wants to argue with him, but surprise when she saw Al coughed some fresh blood where it is not suppose to happen. "Please, don't." One of the Ogremons swinged his club hard to Al's head. The swing was so hard that it crack Al's helmet.

The injuries Al received were intense. His vision slowly fades. 'No. I can't lose it now. Somebody, help.' Al suddenly heard several loud crashes and after that, he didn't feel any clubs hitting him. Al slowly opened his eyes and saw three or four figures standing in front of him. Al focused his vision to his saviors and saw familiar faces. BlackWereGarurumon, MetalGrowlmon, MegaSeadramon, and Taomon. Al smiled to see all of them.

"Did somebody need some help?" Zane or Zero asked without leaving his sight at Ogremons.

"I'm glad to see all of you. Where have you been?" Al asked weakly.

"You gave us few hints and I have lots of possibility until a weird Digivice appeared from the screen and struck into the game." ShadowWolf answered. "That's how we find you."

"How?" Al asked.

"I remember that Digivice and it's belongs to you, Al." Taomon replies. "Furthermore, you looked beat. Let us handle them and you will be transported to safety."

"Are you forgetting something?" Al smirked asking her a question.

"Of course not, that is why we are here." Angewomon and Angemon appeared without notice and grabbed Al's arms.

Al was surprise at first but he is too weak for surprises, so he sighs a bit. "Thank you everyone. Please, take Vilvet to safety first. She is the Veemon below me."

"I'm on it." Antylamon respond and take Vilvet away from the battlefield.

"Guys, don't kill them. They are real." Al told the team weakly and then passed out. Al's body reverts into Agumon again.

GreenGuilmonX, Taomon, Zero and ShadowWolf nodded at each other respecting Al's wish and then looked at the Ogremons.

One of the Ogremons recovered from the sudden attack and saw four more standing and another three helping their prey. "What the, more fakes?" the rest of the Ogremons recovered and looked at the new intruders. "And Ultimates too."

"Let's finish this." Zero starts flexing his muscle neck.

"Try to weaken them, I will bind them. And try not to use your skills." Taomon ordered while preparing her paper seals.

"Easier said than done Ms. Taomon," GreenGuilmon replies showing his arms.

"Then knock it out with your tail, if you know how." Taomon suggested and lunge toward the Ogremons followed by the rest.

The Ogremons readied their stance for the income attacks. Zane lunge faster among others because of his serpent body and tackle one of the Ogremons. Next is Taomon by using her large pen brush. ShadowWolf jumped forward and kick the third one and GreenGuilmonX uppercuted the last Ogremon with his tail.

The first Ogremon was not ready and got a direct hit. The second one barely blocked the attack. The third one raised his bone club and blocked the attack. The last one was toss into the air because he thinks the attack came from top.

The first Ogremon manage to recover and attack Zero, but he deflect it by using his tail. Zero fight back by lunge forward like a fence. The Ogremon manage to block most the attacks and intend to counter it, but it was block by Zero's tail.

Taomon fight the second Ogremon using her pen brush as her spear. She pierced the Ogremon when she attack and swirled it when she intend to dodge or block. The second Ogremon used his club like a sword, attack and block like wielding a fighting sword. Their fight is almost similar to a kung fu fighting style.

ShadowWolf, on the other hand, fought the third Ogremon bare hand like a street fight, using the fist as his weak attack and his kick as his strong attack. The Ogremon was brutally abuse but he can endure those attacks as if they were weak.

GreenGuilmonX is less fortunate because of the handicap, because he is similar to a walking battle tank. He cannot use his weapons so he goes on full defense. The Ogremon take advantages by hitting him hard and GreenGuilmonX blocked it with his arm blade.

Their battles were intense and the Ogremons were on the brink of exhaustion. The team saw their chances and began the final blow. Zero swinged his tail to where the Ogremon hold his bone club. Taomon toss the bone club off, pierce her brush at his torso, and knock him off. ShadowWolf twist his arm, steal the bone club, and knock him out. GreenGuilmonX used his arm blade to strike the club and shattered it, making Ogremon defenseless. The team tossed the Ogremons at one place and Taomon prepare the paper seal. "Thousand Spells!" The paper seals lunge toward the Ogremons and bind all of them in place.

The Ogremons intend to squirm their way out, but Taomon glare them all in threat. "Try it if you may, I can use my paper seal to burn you alive whenever I want to." She readied her hand seal to show them that she is serious. The Ogremons stop squirming. "Good. Let's take them back to the Digital World." The team replies by dragging them to the nearest portal where only Zero can see it at least.

They found the portal and ShadowWolf scour a head to see if the area is secure. A minute afterward, he gave a thumb to proceed. Zero and GreenGuilmonX took the Ogremons one at a time through the portal. After all the Ogremons are on place, Taomon release the seal and glare at them. "Now get out of my sight or I will delete you all here." The Ogremons took their chances and fled.

After the situation is clear, GreenGuilmonX make a statement. "I guess the mission is clear?"

"You could say that again." Zero replies and headed back into the game. The rest followed him into the portal. Taomon looked at the portal after she crossed over.

"Stand back, I will attempt to seal this portal for now." She warned. She took the pen brush out and starts enchanting some spells while swinging the brush on thin air. After the chanting is over, a caligraph appears; formed a barrier at the portal, and then vanished along with the portal. "There, that way only I can open the seal. Unless there are more powerful force can break it through."

"Great, now warp us to the city, Taomon." Zero asked. Taomon nodded and use the gatekey to teleport them back to the city.

At the city, Gatomon, Patamon and Lopmon were gathering around Al and Vilvet. Taomon, Zero, GreenGuilmonX dan ShadowWolf change back into their rookie forms. They saw that Al is already awake and Gatomon continue to heal him.

Al saw them and greeted them. "Hey guys, how is the mission?"

"If the mission is about you, I say it's a great success." ShadowWolf answered. "Eventhough technically, that wasn't a mission."

"So why are you running away?" Zero asked.

"Actually, I resign." Al answered heavily sad tone.

The one who received the news gasped in surprise. "Why, I thought that you like it being with the team?" Zero asked starting the bombard question.

"I have failed to protect everyone. I even hurt all of you. Furthermore, I let my rage consumed me. I am a monster to all of you." Al answered in sad monotone voice.

Everyone felt sad upon hearing his reasons except Vilvet who did not know anything. Renamon slowly approached him and hugged him. "We all know how you feel for the first time." Renamon responded in sad tone. "It happened to some of us. Not just you, but Guilmon and Agumon did the same thing before." Al confused about her answer.

"During that time, you always think about more power in order to destroy the evil." Gatomon explained while healing Al's injuries. "My brother happened to raise his Agumon in a wrong way, which ends up turning Agumon into SkullGreymon."

"And because he wanted to be stronger than Beelzebmon, Takato forced evolution and turned Guilmon into Megidramon." Renamon added. "All of those happened because they were thirst for a greater power."

"We all make mistakes, so please don't feel bad about yourself." Patamon added.

"Brother? Is that you talking, Ms. Kari, Ms. Rika?" Al asked. Both of them nodded. "I see. Still, it won't change my mind. I can't fight right now for unknown reason. Furthermore, I didn't have a Digivice with me. Lastly, I am a real Digimon."

"In order: We can't help if we did not know; that is a nice watch you got; last, we didn't care less." ShadowWolf answered. "As long as you are alive, we are happy either you are a human or a Digimon. We are still your friends."

Al was amaze by everyone, which shed a happy tear. "Thank you, everyone." The tear fell right at the gauntlet Digivice. The gauntlet shines bright and uploads any information it has into Al's memory. Moments later, the gauntlet stoped flashing. Al blinked his eyes, confuse about everything happens just now.

"Al, what is happening?" GreenGuilmonX asked.

Al moved his right claw at the top scanner without any doubts. After the claw passes the scanner, a menu appeared in front of him. "This is weird."

"What is weird?" Zero asked.

"Can't you see a menu appeared right in front of me?" Al asked in confusion.

"We didn't see anything." Lopmon replies. "What I see is you are in trance somehow."

'Weird, how can I see it?' Al asked in his thought. Al moved his eyes and saw a cursor float. He moved his eyes again and the cursor followed. When he tried to focused on one of the menu, it opened by itself. 'Wicked, it's like a touch screen.' Al looked at his status and skills. "What the... No wonder I can't use any of my skills. Everything has been reset back to one."

"What do you mean?" ShadowWolf asked more confused.

"Could somebody please tell me, what the hell is going on?" Vilvet asked annoyed feeling left behind.

Al quickly closed everything by exiting the menu. "Oops, I forgot about you being with us." Al replies.

"Thanks for noticing me, so what is going on?" She asked.

"I can't say anything about it. What I can say is that you shouldn't involve in this situation." Al answered. He looked at Renamon and asked, "Renamon, did you have any device that can erase memories?"

"We do have it but it only affects the humans." Renamon answered. "Why do you need it?"

"It is for Vilvet, she has seen enough. It is best for her to forget everything." Al answered.

Renamon looked at her and then looked back at Al again. "All right," She replies. She reached a certain item from inside her sleeve and gave it to Al. The item looks like a small remote with one button and a switch for safety lock.

Al looked back at Vilvet and let out a sigh. "Okay, if you want to know what is going on? All I can say is that is none of your concern because you were not involved in the first place." Al answered trying to explain to her. "We have a mission to protect everyone in two different worlds, which is your world and ours. I know it is sound so confusing but please bear with me. It is best for you to forget everything that happened recently."

"Me, why should I?" Vilvet asked. "After everything that happens today, it is very hard for me not to forget it. Tell me what happened, who were they and who are you?"

Al sighed again and then looked at the sky for a minute. "Like I said before, we are in danger. The Ogremons that you saw before is an actual living creature called Digimon. And we are also a real Digimon, mostly."

"I don't believe you a single bit." Vilvet responded. Renamon responded by telling Zero, ShadowWolf and GreenGuilmonX to look away from them.

"I knew you would say that, so I am sorry." Al replies. He switched the remote on and pointed at her. A flash appeared like a camera blitz and she went in trance for a moment. "Can you help me with?" Al asked.

"Um... help you with what?" Vilvet asked in confuse.

"You asked me that I need help in leveling up just a minute ago." Al explained lying.

"I guess I did." Vilvet answered still in confusion.

"I change my mind, because my friends are here to help me up." Al refused. "Sorry to bother you."

"No, it's okay. I would love to help." Vilvet responded and left the team.

After Vilvet was gone for good, Zero asked. "What did you do to her?"

"I am just erasing her memories about recent events and after she made contact with me before." Al answered.

"Why did you erase her memories?"GreenGuilmonX asked.

"It is too dangerous for her to get involve in it. She is not prepared for all of it." Al answered. "It is best for her to stay out of it."

"But, you can't just erase her like that." Zero objected but ShadowWolf reached to his shoulder.

"I respect to his judgement. I can guess they would have the same idea." ShadowWolf respoded and pointed at the senior Destinies who also agreed at Al's decision. "And GreenGuilmonX is also agreed on this."

"I understand." Zero sighed in defeated. "So what now?"

"First, I need my job back. Second, I need to train and adapt with this new body." Al answered. "But I can't do it alone, so will you guys help me?" Everyone nodded in agreement which makes everyone happy.

"Thank you."

That's it for this chapter. I thank you for those who lend me their nicknames and I know it is very late than the last one, afterall there aren't any dead lines. I accept any critics or comments or votes, however I don't accept the blower because it is sucks when you have to re-write the whole chapter in a short time. Looks like I have to re-ordered the chapters, if I know how that is. lol.
