#1 of Red Leather Collar

A short story I wrote as an entry to idontwantobeheretoo's BDSM YCH contest

This was kind of a personal challenge for a few reasons. I've never written a nonvore story before, I've never written anything really kink or bondage related before, I've never written anything with a deadline before and this was the first time I've written a story that wasn't built around dialog, so hopefully I didn't do too bad!

The setting of this story is in the world idon has established in a few pictures leading up to the contest linked below, where furs have been re-classified as "pet people" and are basically treated the same as feral pet animals.https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34448996/https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34460692/https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34476121/

There is a lotttt that can be done with that (and I may come back to this world for some more writing in the future if Idon is okay with it) but honestly the most interesting aspect I could think of was what it was like for a fur who had just been re-classified and what the change over from person to pet would be like. Exploring the psychological aspects of it more than the kinky aspects. So, here's what I came up with!

*I will throw out there that as of right now hypnosis and brainwashing only appear briefly right now, but I do plan on expanding on things in future chapters...whenever those happen. Just wanted to mention that because I tagged it on FA and got comments from multiple people upset that it was tagged and not the focal point of the story. .

It started out simple enough. Something happened, I think some fur bit a senator or something? I honestly don't pay much attention to the news, but it set off a chain of events that lead to where I am now.

"Pet-person" That was what they called us now. I don't think anyone expected it. Expected the law to pass that is. Most certainly didn't prepare for it...The lucky ones had lined up people to adopt them early on. Friends, loved ones, spouses. The unlucky ones. The ones who knew they had no one, they wound up in shelters, hoping for a stranger to take them in. Surrendering themselves early in the hopes of beating the inevitable overcrowding that was no doubt to come. I, however, was neither. I didn't have anyone I knew well enough to volunteer to take me in. I only had 8 hours left to find someone before I had the choice to either go willingly to the pound when whatever authorities were in charge of this came for me, or to try and flee the country, I guess. The latter not exactly sounding like a very viable option and who knows what would happen at the pound. I can only imagine that the adoption market would be similar to the way it was for ferals. Nobody would want a mixed breed like me when they can get a purebred... Ugh, why didn't I do this sooner?

In my late night desperation I sent out a mass text, everyone in my phone's contacts list. Then I sat and waited. Waited for the pound, waited for a reply whichever came first. I tried to sleep, but that wasn't going to happen. Come 9am tomorrow I was either going to be someone's pet, or one of hundreds of shelter dogs who didn't plan ahead for this...

It was almost dawn when my phone chimed. Just the sound of it filled me with relief. The simple ding could very well be saving my life after all.

1 new message; Dave: "OK"

I never would have thought two simple letters would lift such a weight off my shoulders. I hadn't seen Dave in at least 10 years, since we graduated highschool actually, but he was always nice back then. This was going to be "ok" as Dave put it! At least that's what I thought. Of course I replied giving him my eternal thanks. Assuring him that though I wasn't legally allowed to work I would still do whatever I could to pull my weight. Sweep, cook, do laundry. Anything to allow me to stay and thank him for saving me!

His second response was as curt as his first. "131 Maple street. 8am." His address I assume. I couldn't blame him for the short replies, it was early, he had probably just woken up. With the sun only just starting to rise I had time.

I wasn't sure what his house situation was like so I figured it would be best to pack light, just a backpack. If he had room we could come back and grab the rest of my stuff from my apartment before it was emptied out at the end of the month. A change of clothes, some personal documents. A couple of things I didn't want to lose or give up. I even packed our yearbook. Figured it would be a nice way to catch up and reminisce.

At 7:30 I went to the bus stop... At 7:50 I stepped off the bus a block and a half away from Dave's house... At 7:51 I had a panic attack. Why though? This was going to be okay, I was going to be okay! Dave was saving me from... God knows what would have happened at the pound... But still, this was a huge change and I was terrified... I was terrified and I didn't even know what I was terrified of. I bit my lip to calm me and took a deep breath to calm myself down. I didn't have time to second guess this. With that I started the long walk down the street to my new home.

It was the human part of town of course, and it felt like it,and certainly smelled like it. Humans didn't think they had a smell but they did, to us at least. Those of us with keener noses that is. I was technically only part hound but I still had a stronger sense of smell than most other canines.

It was still early, but there were a few people out already and I could feel them watching me. A group of cyclist's heads following me as they rode past, a sneer from a man out grabbing his morning paper. Maybe... I'll just stay in Dave's house most of the time and try to not attract any attention. At least until this whole pet-person thing blows over and things go back to normal.

At 8am I knocked on the door, my heart pounding as I waited... and then it opened. It was Dave, he had a mug of what smelled like coffee in his hand and a smile on his face. I knew this was going to be okay.

"Come on boy." He said, gesturing me in, though the smile and tone suggested teasing. It did make me chuckle. My tail gave a slow wag as I walked past him into the house. It was a small place. Probably a two bedroom (the perfect number for this arrangement!) but it seemed well furnished. The door opened to his living room, which I walked right into.

"Thank you, thank you so much I-" I started but he waved a hand to silence me.

"We don't have time, I have to finish filling this adoption form out and submit it. I already picked up the mandatory gear from the adoption center but nothing's official until I send this in. You don't want the dog catcher coming looking for you do you?" He asked, setting his mug down on the coffee table and opening his laptop. He patted the couch for me to sit next to him, which I did after setting my bag down next to the table.

It looked like he had already filled out some of the documents. 'Former name.' 'Former occupation' the basic stuff he could have grabbed from my social media really. "Just type in your former address and your social and we're about set." He said, sliding the laptop over to me and... well I did as he requested, scanning over everything. The "new name" area was left blank, did that mean I got to keep my current name? I was going to ask when I noticed 'Breed' had 'Mutt' selected. Not really a term we favored.

"Hey so uh... for breed... we really prefer the term 'mixed-breed' over... that." I explained, trying to be as friendly as possible with my correction to not seem ungrateful for, well, all of this he was doing. If you weren't a dog you probably wouldn't know any better. "Mutt is sort of... derogatory." I continued, rolling my hands as I spoke.

Dave reached for the laptop to set it back in his lap as he gave a simple "Wasn't an option." In response to my concern, typing something briefly and pressing enter. "That should be it. Welcome home." He said finally placing his laptop on the table and picking his coffee up for another sip.

"So- what can I do to he-" I started, only to be silenced by another wave of his hand.

"Gotta get your gear on." He said, plainly, standing up to pick up a box he'd had set next to the couch and opening it up.

"Oh-see I just thought I'd stay inside most of the time so you wouldn't really have to-"

"Its the law." He said in a stern voice, lifting a chastity cage from the box. "Clothes off."

Hes... just following the law, I could convince him to take that stupid thing off me once we've cought up. At least that's what I told myself as I stood back up and started to take my clothes off hesitantly. Folding them as I stripped and tucking them into my bag one by one. Stopping at my boxers for a moment as he waited for me...and finally dropping those too. Putting them into my bag and reaching out for the device.

"Says I have to secure it, paws down." He said, his voice getting colder with every passing word.

I did as I was told, trying to look forward as he secured the *COLD* ring in place and outright tensing up as he slipped on the equally cold tube over my flaccid member. There was some pinching as he adjusted things, followed by a click, which I assume was the lock. It was too awkward to look and see exactly what he was doing, but soon enough I could feel the weight of the device between my legs, as gravity immediately started to pull the metal cage down as his hand retracteed.

"Well that was easy." He said, standing back up with a smile on his face again. "Now let's get your collar on."

"Ah... yeah... okay..." I replied, my tail tucked down as I reached for my boxershorts.

"No." I heard Dave's voice say from behind me. "Pets don't have to wear clothes, it's in the pamphlet."

"The what?" I asked, tilting my head.

"The pamphlet the adoption center gave-" He paused, rolling his eyes as he came towards me, unbuckling a red leather collar I assumed he pulled from the box and chuckling, "Look at me talking to you like you're a person. Guess we both have some things to get used to." He said, shaking his head at his own silliness. "Down."

"Dave-you know me we-"

"Down!" He ordered again, not shouting but loud enough to catch me off guard and make me flinch. With a sigh I got down on my knees to let him secure the leather band around my neck. It was tight but not uncomfortably so. "You have to stay at or below waist height of any humans you are in the presence of."

Gods, he really was doing this by the book. Or the pamphlet in this case. I waited for him to step away before speaking again... "You don't have to do everything a stupid pamphlet says, you've known me for like 15 years!"

"Pets do not talk back." He interrupted, holding his wrist up to... show me his watch?

"I'm serious, Dave just-" Is as far as I got before he pressed something on his watch. A jolting shock went through my neck with a BZZZT that brought out a pained cry as my whole body tensed up. It only lasted for a few seconds, but when it stopped I dropped down to all fours, panting as I tried to catch my breath.

"Pets do not talk back." He repeated as he retrieved another item from his box of horrors. I was still in... well, shock, for lack of a better word, to focus on it. When I heard his voice say "Paw." I held my right arm up before looking to see him slip some kind of glove over it? No, gloves have fingers, this was a mitten, only there were no thumbs. Once he secured the wrist strap on it he reached into the box and pulled another one out, giving me a chance to turn my paw and look this thing over. It was basically just a leather padded fist, or half fist really. Curved on the top of my paw and flat on the other side. I don't think they would be very good for punching. I opened my mouth to protest him putting on the second mitt, but one look at that device on his wrist silenced me. I reluctantly held my other paw out for him to repeat the process, rendering my hand paws useless.

"There we go, don't you look nice? " He asked, a big smile on his face now. "I just knew the red collar would look good on you. Okay stay down there just like that..." He added, readying his phone and snapping a photo with a loud 'click' of the digital shutter. "Perfect."

I... really wasn't sure what to do here. I knew I shouldn't dare say anything else but... was I allowed to get up now? Would trying get me punished again??? If he would just listen to me...

"Are you hungry? Did you eat anything yet?" He asked, breaking my train of thought.

I wasn't sure how to respond to that... I mean, I know HOW to respond to it, but I wasn't sure how he /wanted/ me to respond. I wasn't lucky enough to get a pamphlet to explain how to properly let yourself be degraded by your highschool friend like he had gotten for his role in this fucked up scenario.

"I didn't have time to pick up any pet food, but they'll have some at the training facility. I'm thinking we'll do wet food in the morning and dry food at night, or maybe a 50/50 mix for both meals. I have to do more research on what's better for you." He said, giving my head another pat as he thought out loud.

"The WHAT?" I asked, completely taken off guard by that, starting to plead my case "You can't just- I don't want to go to a-wait nonono-aHH" I watched his hand go to his watch again, but it was too late. BZZZZZZT! Another shock from the collar, which felt even longer this time, causing me to drop onto my stomach once it finally ended. My body was shaking on the floor as I recovered.

"Wow, I was going to give you a tour of the house first but I think I should drop you off ASAP." He said, pulling a red leash from the box. Must have been a matching set, I thought to myself as he clipped it to my collar while I was still recovering. "Come on, let's go for a ride." He added, giving the leash a tug before reaching down to pick up my backpack with his free hand.

It took me a moment to get to my feet after that last shock, but of course I followed. I didn't want to, but I also didn't want to find out what would happen if I didn't... I don't think my tail could tuck any further between my legs as I awkwardly crawled after him towards the door. Oh gods the door! I had to go outside... like... this? I hesitated for just a second at the doorway, not even long enough for the collar to lose slack before just... going for it. Still on my hands and knees. Well, mitts and knees, my head down as I crawled across the cement walkway. I let my ears hide my face and at least some of my view of the outside word. I couldn't avoid being seen but I could avoid /knowing/ if I was being seen... I lifted my head when we came to a stop, expecting to see his car, but looking just in time to see him drop my backpack into the trash can he had out on the curb before continuing on to his SUV that was parked out on the street. I was speechless, which I guess was what was expected of me but... that bag had the only things I absolutely 100% didn't want to leave behind. My ID! My birth certificate! The little money I had- even a couple family photos.

I looked up at Dave as we came to a stop behind his car. I had to have looked upset because he had this look on his face of... I guess curiosity? It certainly wasn't sympathy. I was fighting back tears as I opened my mouth to say something to him. To plead with him really, but he simply brought his hand up to his watch in anticipation. Waiting for me to say something, anything, so he could punish me for it... I choked back the emotions I was feeling, looking down again. He eventually opened the hatch on his SUV, waving me inside. Not even the passenger compartment. This was pretty much the trunk. It /was/ the trunk. All I could do was try and stay low as I got into the back...

"Good boy." Dave said, giving my hair a ruffling before slamming the trunk shut and getting in the front to start driving to where ever it was I was going...

I probably should have paid more attention but I just felt defeated, curling up in the trunk and waiting for whatever was going to happen to happen. And here I had thought I had dodged this bullet with Dave...

The drive felt like it went on forever, though it might have just been the looming dread that came with it. I thought about making a break for it the second the trunk was opened but wasn't sure about the range on this collar, and didn't exactly want to test it... So I sat up and waited for Dave to open the door, like a good dog... Maybe if I show I don't need training I can avoid this? The hatch opened. Dave took my leashand I awkwardly crawl/stepped out onto the blacktop parking lot. Not wanting to break the waist high rule Dave had given me, I turned myself around and lowered myself down feet first to stay beneath his waist line.

I'd made it about two steps when I saw another dog. She was collared and leashed like me. There was a shiny belt around her waist that went down to her groin. I guess this was the female equivalent to whatever I had on. Only... she didn't look upset. At all. A big smile on her face, her tail wagging from side to side as she happily crawled along side the human holding her leash. It was an older guy. Her whole back side was wiggling from excitement as he stopped to open the back door of his car for her to hop in. "That's my good girl." The man said, patting her head, which she seemed to lean into joyfully.

I wanted to see more of this... strange interaction but my leash was tugged. "Come on, you can make friends inside." He said, giving my collar another, firmer, tug that finally made me follow after him. "You don't have to pee or anything before we go in, do you?" He asked, which I wasn't going to dignify with any kind of answer. Spoken or otherwise...

Once we made it out of the parking lot I could hear a commotion, which became clear once we rounded the corner to the front of the facility. It was a dog, no, a wolf. A /BIG/ one. He was fighting with what I guess were some of the trainers. There were at least 3 of them trying to wrestle him to the ground, 2 more coming on the door with some kind of restraints and... goggles?

"Come on, I have to get to work." Dave said, pulling me again and forcing me to turn my head away from this scene to go inside. He wasted no time heading to the counter once we were in. I was still trying to turn myself around and get a look at the fight outside as he exchanged some words with the person behind the counter. I was more surprised than anything to see that very same wolf crawling back in on all fours. His head low, those weird goggles on him and his mouth agape. Drooling some as he was walked right past me and into the back. It was like all the fight was just taken out of him.

I was so distracted that I didn't even notice that someone new had taken my leash. "So this must be Mutthew." They said cheerfully.

What? What did he call me??? Dave didn't-he wouldn't have. This was a joke right???

"Come on Mutthew, I hear you haven't eaten yet. Lets get you some food and we'll start the training regiment your owner has picked out for you!" This new- seemingly over excited person said to me as he gave a tug on the leash.... I looked back to Dave, a pleading look in my eyes. I didn't want to do this. I really didn't want to do any of this.

"I don't think he's used to the new name yet." Dave told the trainer, who was pulling harder on the leash now as I tried to pull back against it to stay close to Dave.

"It usually takes a bit for them to get adjusted to it. You just have to use it a lot until they start answering to it." The trainer reassured him, wrapping the leash around his hand now to get a better grip against my outright struggling to not get pulled deeper into this facility. "We'll work on it during his stay, don't worry." The trainer added, gripping the leash with two hands now to start more effectively dragging me away.

Dave just gave me a friendly smile back. "Don't worry Mutt, I'll pick you back up when your training is done in 90 days."

Wait what??? "NINETY DAYS?!" I outright shouted.

BZZZZZZZT-
