Soft
#2 of Poems
Boys are surprisingly soft
Amongst hard lines and rough hands
There lies a tenderness to their emotions
A fragility to their ego
As a man, I would know
But beyond their emotions and ego
Just a simple grab of the wrist,
And you'll be surprised to note
The skin beneath your finger tips
Soft and thin, just like their lips
Be wary, though, of harsh quips
For every man that says sweet things
Has a complex of superiority
That won't let us get to know
The little boy stuck in ice and snow
Society mocks, like a loud crow
What they must wear, or eat, or be
And have faith in this author
For I am a man who has often had to deal
With mocking comments both fake and real
But I digress from my original appeal
Of how soft men can be
If only they'll show you, as I try,
With friends, and family, and society
Without making my feelings a liability.
