#2 of Legacy of Treshter Pack

I woke in a strange place, a cave of some sort. The smell of something long gone still lingered in the air. There was a small fire and/... As I tried to further examine the area, I noticed a number of things different on me. For one, I had a brace on my leg; two, there was a very evident pain everywhere in my body. I got scared. All I could think to do was run.

It wasn't long before I lost my breath, at which time I put my back to a tree to think, safely. How did I wind up in that cave? Or was it an old den? I remember getting attacked by some reptilian creature, but I fell off the cliff. I guess I didn't get up. But how did I wind up in a den? My memory of resent events are still foggy. God, who cares what happened, what do I do now?! I hadn't realized I began to speak aloud until a noise like a foot step spooked me. I instantly dropped down into a pouncing stance. Only to be paralyzed.

Keth: "There you are! You're going to get sick if stay out here. Come on."

This human was, offering, his hand to me. Most fools regret such a decision the instant they make it, but, there was something about this one. Normally I'd bite it right off, but... Even when I grazed it, he never moved his hand. Of course, the look of pain was VERY clear in his face. After taking a few minutes to work up sum nerve, I did accept his hand and I fallowed him back to the den, where he added to the fire and promptly when to sleep. I made the decision to find out as much as I could as fast as I could. Rummaging thru his belongings, I discovered a couple of books and a sword. I couldn't read so the books meant nothing to me. The sword was simple enough, so I turned to the human himself. His clothing was meager, his build small. Carefully running thru his pockets turned up nothing. On the verge of giving up, I noticed a pendant around his neck. Lifting it from under his shirt told me wonders. For starters, this pendent was a lycan family crest, and the fact that it had been active meant that this, human (?), was part of that family. It belonged to the Treshter clan in particular, which meant two things: one, this pendent alone could devastate entire kingdoms and two, this ... person ... whatever he is, would become on of the greatest magic users of all time, all he had to do try. The pendent was not glowing, and in this case, that meant he had no desire to rule. It had also hidden its gems, though I'm not sure what it means.

"Not even so much as a shimmer. This really is a good person. I'll have to apologize to grandfather." Even knowing as little as I did, I found it much easier to sleep that night.

I awoke first. The storm had lifted and now was my chance to run, but I decided to stay with the Treshter, for curiosities sake. I stepped outside and found an ice sheet, which served as a good mirror. Using said mirror, I began to clean myself up. I'm a pure breed lycan with solid white as snow fur. I have a three inch muzzle and I stand about 5'4". I'm slender not skinny, and I'm about as tone as it gets. As an advanced description for the "human" readers, my physical construction is truly half-half. My hands and feet are harsh for human standards and I have claws rather than nails. I have no tail and just the two breasts, same place as the human females. I'm 12 years old.......... Okay fine, I look more human than wolf, happy?!.... why oh why am I yelling at a sheet of ice...

Once the human was ready, we left for his village. The walk was drudgingly silent. That night though, the storm came back, forcing us to find a small cavern for the night. Upon entering the cavern, the humans' pendent flew from his neck, and began to rest in the air at the cavern entrance. I came to realize real soon just how little he know about his heritage, and I had to stop him from grabbing it.

"It's created a barrier for us, to keep us warm."

Keth: "So you do speak."

"Well I, ... um ..."

Keth: "My name is Keth, what's your name?"

"...Ayla..."

Keth: "Nice to meet you Ayla. Would you mind telling me what you know about that pendent?"

The question really shocked me. I had no way to trust him with this knowledge nor did I know where to start. Furthermore, as straightforward as he was... I was lost on what to think. Ayla: "...My...my grandfather told me some...about various treasures." I guess he thought I looked nervous, which would be accurate, but he fell back to sit in a stance I almost mistook for bored, ... but ... I looked again, blinked just to check myself, and he was sitting patiently, giving me room to speak. Ayla: "... He mentioned ... something ... similar to your ... trinket. It's an old symbol representing the combined powers of the wolf, the moon, the stars, the dragon, the sword, the flame, and the mage. A powerful family of wizards used this symbol to dominate their lands long ago. However, it is said that a small boy stole the pendant from the family and vanished into the wilderness, destroying the families' power. All grandfather actually said was that the pendant was powerful and should I ever find it, I should run as fast as I could.

Keth: "That doesn't explain how you know what it's doing now, nor does it explain why you're not running away right now... There's considerably more to this than what you're telling me, if you're not lying outright."

He had me, so I just went back to being quiet. After an interrogating glare, he just shrugged set to work making a fire and food. But, I couldn't help feeling something was wrong, and it wasn't the human. I was about to make a comment about the smoke from the fire when it dawned on me, the barrier wasn't keeping anything warm. The smoke was drifting right on out, so unless the talisman had been altered again, it was detecting danger on a high level. This also meant it actively recognized this ... Keth ... as its owner. This human couldn't possibly be a descendent of the Treshter pack, he didn't even smell right ... or close for that matter. The Treshter family was a lycan pack, dedicated to the mastery of the arcane arts and the dictatorship of their ancestral lands. This wasn't even on the same continent. I... I... A flash of light and all was dark.

When I awoke, the human was sprawled across me, blood everywhere. The pendant was gone. Apparently a ball of lighting had struck the human in the back, a ball aimed at me... I couldn't make out anything else, so ......

Morning of the next day, (about 28 hours later), Keth awoke with a puzzling look about him ... and that was it, I told him what I knew. Ayla: "I lied. I didn't know if I could trust you, but it seems I must. The symbol represents the lycan, the moon, the sage, the wizard, the dragon, the sword, the flame, and ... the night sky. Linking these symbols of power created a new crest of power for a powerful lycan pack long sense dead, or so we thought. My family was one of the 8 chosen to identify a way to destroy this item, but when it was stolen, all hope had been lost. The 8 packs have sense dispersed around the known world in search of the crest with a new goal in addition to the old one: to lock it away, beyond the reach of any whom would seek its power. To be honest, I'm still not sure this is the real thing, but if it is..."

Keth: "Surly there's some trick to using it, right?"

Ayla: "Of course; the crest will only respond to one with at least 20% Treshter blood in their veins."

Keth: "And how long ago was this thing stolen?"

Ayla: "About 3 millennia."

Keth: "So... everyone's a suspect..."

I still didn't mention that the Treshter family was a lycan pack, something I would later regret, kinda. Still, the impending feeling that there was something different about this human never left, never faded, never ... Much as I hated humans, he had only a light blanket left, and it was freezing, so we spent the night considerably closer than either of us were use to being, with anyone.
