pet training chapter 5
There's a stinging feeling on my neck, but what is it? I move my hand to rub my neck, but as I begin to move my arm, a voice says " don't touch it, it needs to heal". The voice wasn't Roxain's and it seemed older. " Thank you elder Rosie, I apprecieate what you've done to help me." I knew that was Roxain's voice this time. " Well. when he gets up, get him to take this". I tryed opening my eyes, but they stayed shut. What was wrong, why couldn't I open my eyes. I heard Roxains voice agin "okay, but please don't tell anyone I'm harboring a target". Target? What did that mean? "I'll do my best to not tell anyone, till then you have to find a place to hide him". I felt a drop of water hit my cheak, but as it moved down my face, I felt the stinging feeling again. Then my eyes flew wide open, the room was bright and there was one figure standing right over me.
As my eyes focused, I could see Roxain standing over me. She was crying and she had dropped sevral tears onto my face. I began to look around the room as I said " R-roxain, please don't cry". She opened her eyes as more tears ran down her face. She looked at me and give me a large grin. " You're such a looney boy". We stare at one another, eyes locked, until the voice of the elder Roxain named said " well isn't this a surprise, your healing quite quick ". I turn to see the woman, but she then shouted " don't move, you need to let the fur on your neck dry, other wise your fur will have permanent damage on it ". I quickley stoped moving and asked the elder to come to the other side of the bed.
As she neared the bed, she saied " your neck was injured by the tightness of your collar, so Roxain had me remove it ". What was she talking, I had to know more so I said " collar, What collar"? Roxain looked down at the floor then responded to my question " well, why you were asleep I put a collar on you to hide you from everyone else, and in doing that it made everyone think you were my pet". I didn't understand until the elder said " you see, Roxain cares about you enough to put her self at risk of execution". I couldn't belive it, but by the tone in her voice, she was right.
Roxain put her hand on mine then said " Joel, I'll always be there for you, I just hope you'll do the same for me someday ". Hearing her say that made a tear run down my face. She smiled and said " please try not to try ". Before I could responed to what she said the elder said " come now Roxain, we need to let him sleep ". She pulled her hand off of my then said " sweet dreams." as she walked out of the room with the elder.
