Issue 01: The Guardian Dragons

Thank you for choosing a product from the Daracoss Tourism Agency (a company of the Five Dragons Corporation).

You won't find any gods in Daracoss. So you shouldn't be offended if the locals dismiss your ideas of higher powers with a tired smile. This world was created by the Immortals, who also sent the Guardiandragons to us. Why exactly dragons? Because the dragons inhabited this world before the Spherical-Conjuncture (you can find more information in the issue: The Spherical-Conjuncture). They are considered the great role models with virtues that arise from their powers. To name them straight away:

Arkas: Guardiandragon of the elements fire and water

Galvatros: Guardiandragoness of the elements earth and air

Kyleth: Guardiandragoness of the element of magic

Sorathis: Guardiandragoness of the element of life

Wyverex: Guardiandragon of the element of death

They are the bearers of the forces that flow through this world, to which we are all subject. Many believe that they are immortals themselves. But that is not entirely true. They don't age like mortal creatures, that's right. But like any living thing in this world, they can be killed. But why should we want that? Would you just throw the world into imbalance and chaos?

The children cannot get enough of the stories about the Guardiandragons and are always fascinated by their unique appearance. Everyone knows that they protect us and take care of the world. There is only one minor flaw in this sentence. They protect Daracoss, we are just lucky to live in this world. Because the guardians are only committed to the balance. They don't really care about our concerns. But please do not misunderstand this. Some guardians are very interested in the peoples and also interact directly with them. But let us not forget, that this friendship is not as deep as you may think. Because should it be necessary to protect the balance, they will without hesitation destroy anyone who stands in the way of this goal. So be thankful for their existence. They protect the balance of powers in the world and we at the Daracoss Tourism Agency (a company of the Five Dragons Corporation) are convinced that without them, Daracoss would have died long ago.

So they protect Daracoss from us if need be, but they don't protect us from ourselves. They mostly leave the people alone with their concerns. It doesn't matter whether they fight each other or make new alliances. As mentioned earlier, some of the guardians are available for a chat if you are lucky enough to meet them.

Guardiandragoness Kyleth was active throughout Daracoss with her circle. Some of the most powerful wizards were committed to their cause (for more information on Kyleth's circles, please see: The Hunter Wars / Guilds and Groups)

Arkas is also not afraid to show himself. A whole dwarf folk is loyal to him in Kaladros near the Split-Mountain (further information can be found in the editions: The Folks of Daracoss / Kaladros)

Although she has a loyal following, Galvatros is not so interested in direct interaction. She mostly remains in the floating mountains in the southern Athellion and is also rarely found at the places of faith dedicated to her (further information can be found in the editions: Athellion / Guilds and Groups).

Sorathis can be found in the golden castle in Ordenary, where she is protected by her powerful Sorati warriors and priests (for more information, see the issues: Ordenary / The Folks of Daracoss). Her priests and daughters can be found throughout Daracoss, where they pass on their healing light in their abbeys (Important note! The Sorati are peaceful creatures. It is therefore carefully pointed out that you are in no way hostile towards them or the Guardiandragoness Sorathis. They would attack you mercilessly and without hesitation, which could result in immense damage to body and mind and even result in death).

Wyverex is the rarest seen guardian. There are too many rumors about why to list them all. His famous home is the Dead Mountain in the north of Necropolis in Path, formerly Sarrim (for more information, please see the issues: Path / Guilds and Groups)

So only when they see balance threatened do they act. It rarely happens, but when it does, it's brutal.

The last known event of this kind was the days of the bleeding sun (for further information please see the issues: The Hunter Wars / Guilds and Groups). The Guardiandragoness Kyleth died at this event.

Now we're gossiping about the guards so great, you don't even know what they look like. For this purpose, we have put together some well-known things about the Guardiandragons. Please do not be surprised about missing size information, it was unfortunately not possible for us to make an exact measurement.

Guardiandragon Arkas

Arkas is the largest of the current Guardiandragons. The elements of fire and water are bound in his body. He is located in the temple under the Split-Mountain, which was built by the Kaladros dwarves.

This dwarf people has been loyal to him for generations. Arkas' intervention had prevented their existence from erupting, and they swore allegiance to him. From that day on, they called this mountain the Split-Mountain. As a thank you, they built a huge temple complex that reached deep inside the rock. Upon completion, it was more like a fortress than a place of faith. However, the Guardiandragon accepted it as his home and has so far remained in the central chamber.

Arkas' physical shape towers over each of the other Guardiandragons. Mighty paws with dark gray claws on it give his massive body a hold on the floor. He has two heads and, along with the hydra (further features of the hydra can be found in the bestiary), he is the only natural way of life with multiple heads.

Broad rock-like horns protrude from the left head. Dark, fiery red scales lie on his face. The soft water blue eyes in it stand out intensely. Its mighty muzzle has a darker color towards the tip of the nose until it finally ends in a dark gray. The ears are placed on the sides like small, powerful wings. The fiery red color of his scale dress marks his entire left half of his body. In the dark and when you look closely, it appears that the scales are surrounded by a flame. The left wing also has a rock-like thumb claw, similar to the horns. There is no leather flying skin between the long wing fingers. The membrane looks as if it were made of flames and shimmers like the flickering of a fire.

The underside of the neck is covered with the same dark gray, as is the place where both necks come together and migrates over the chest and lower abdomen. His broad tail is provided with a powerful club. He can smash it down on his victims like a boulder.

The right head has many similarities to the left. As if he were his twin. The horns are an exception because they are elongated and elegantly shaped. Fin-like ears are on the sides. The right half of the body is drawn with deep blue scales. Dark fiery red eyes again create this strong contrast. As on the left, the water blue color, towards the tip of the nose, turns dark gray. There is a slight shimmer over the shed, as if water were flowing over it. The left wing has a thumb claw, similar to the horns of the left head. The wing membrane acts like a reflecting water surface.

A sharp dark gray jagged comb runs across his entire back and forms the boundary between the water and the fire side. A triangle shimmers blue on his left shoulder, with a flame in it. A red triangle with water lines shines on the right shoulder.

Despite the two heads, Arkas is a single soul. However, his way of starting the sentence with one head and ending it with the other makes it a little difficult to believe this fact.

Guardiandragoness Galvatros

Galvatros stands for the elements earth and air. In older days she was also called Gal'Vatros. Which is based on the fact that these are actually two dragons. She is located in the regions of the floating mountains in Athellion, near the the same named city Gal'Vatros.

Although these are two dragons, both form one soul. They can always be found together, and their essence of speaking together underlines this fact. Galvatros has a large following. Most of them are in the same named city Gal'Vatros.

Despite the existence of a temple in her honor, Galvatros is rarely found there or in the city. Usually she is in the floating mountains, where there are also smaller memorials.

Galvatros is made up of two names. First there is Gal, a large female dragon, and Vatros, her little hatchling.

Gal embodies the element of air, which further underpins her elegant body. Long thin horns crown her narrow head. The small wing-like ears lie close to the sides of the head in order to create as little air resistance as possible. A light gray scale dress envelops her graceful shape. White pupils shimmer from her eyes, which brings out the black color of her lens even more clearly.

Long, strong flight arms lie on her strong back. These wings are unparalleled in the world. She can fly even at wind speeds that would break the flight arms of any other dragon. The membranes appear as if they consist of a layer of fog that creates a weak haze. If she stays calm, she will be slowly enveloped by this cloud-like breath.

The chest and lower abdomen are darker in color and their long, flexible tail has four steep ridges towards the end. These are primarily used for flight, but they can also be used as effective weapons. The combs are so sharp that they can easily slide through entire tree trunks. These sharp edges are also present on the outside of her wings.

Vatros is a hatchling in terms of physical appearance. But don't let that fool you. This young dragon is able to tame the element of the earth and is older than he appears. He is often referred to as the Eternal Hatchling.

Vatros has a dark brown scale dress, on the abdomen and chest it changes to a slightly lighter shade. His emerald green eyes have a slight hint of white. His paws have black, rock-like claws. His horns have a similar appearance. Four pieces crown his head. A big one on each side, with a smaller one underneath, right in front of the ears.

His back has a jagged crest that looks like sharp boulders have grown on it.

Gal and Vatros can always be found together. It is almost impossible to separate them. The Dragon-Hunters made the last attempt during the Hunter-Wars (further information can be found in the issue: The Hunter-Wars), what these soldiers paid with their lives.

Guardiandragoness Kyleth

Kyleth is the guardian of magic. Her essence guides the energies through the ethereal veil between the worlds. Her constant change between the borders raised the belief in earlier times that she was one of the Immortals. But this never applies to a Guardiandragon.

Their followers had to experience this cruelly during the Hunter-Wars. Her circle was decimated in numerous, bloody conflicts until the hunters finally encircled her (further information can be found in the issue: The Hunter Wars).

According to the stories, the entire circle has been wiped out, but rumors are still creeping across the world about a surviving gender from those followers.

Only what has been handed down since her death can be reported about her appearance.

For a dragoness of her size, she had a rather narrow stature. Eye-catching orange-red scales on the body and in the light shone a slight sparkle in the color, as if they were covered with small pieces of metal. Dark gray scales ran across her skin on her chest and abdomen. The membranes of her long wings also had this dark gray color. Light blue shimmering lines ran down her neck and over her flanks. Starting at the eyes, these moved ornately over her body and ran together in interwoven patterns on her flanks and the back.

Pitch-black claws were on her mighty paws and a light, sharp tooth crest pulled down the back of her neck. Long thin horns adorned her narrow, elongated head like a black crown. Two long horns stuck back, each with a smaller one underneath. The smaller ones went down slightly curved and disappeared behind their wing-like ears.

Between the big horns was a golden tiara with a big orange-red gem in it. The piece of jewelry gracefully covered her forehead and directly below her symbol shone on the scales.

Her eyes shimmered deep blue and occasionally showed a turquoise ring. Which showed up depending on mood, or disappeared.

The end of her tail had a black bone tip. This looked like a sharp blade, and could also be used as such. As on her body, so light blue symbols shimmered on it.

Guardiandragoness Sorathis

Sorathis glides through the world like the rising sun. Her essence gives life. Her aura can suppress death and heal broken bodies.

Her refuge is in Ordenary and is called the Golden Castle (see the Ordenary edition for more information). She meditates behind the high walls in her chamber and keeps the flow of life aligned. Numerous Sorati warriors watch over their master and keep uninvited guests away. Her priests are scattered around the world and give their healing blessings to those in need (you can find out more about this in the issue: The Folks of Daracoss).

Sorathis is often mistakenly considered as an Immortal. But this is not the truth. She can keep death away, but she is mortal like the other Guardiandragons.

Her body shines with the golden aura of the sun. Her head, crowned with several horns, always seems relaxed and balanced. The colors of a magnificent rainbow are reflected in her eyes. Her head is covered with several curved horns. Between the largest horns, above her forehead, a warm ball of light hovers like a little sun and reflects her state of mind. Golden scales adorn her body and draw this coloring over every detail of her appearance. The wings of her ears frame her golden face like wide fans. She has silver maturity on her legs and around her neck.

She is the only known dragon with four wings. Two long, wide wings over her shoulders, and two shorter and narrower ones below. Her sharp claws are smooth and look like they have never been used.

Sorathis stands for the life in this world, which is also her greatest weakness. As dangerous as her dragon appearance may be, she is unable to end a life physically, not even for self-defense.

If an attacker approaches her, she would not be able to kill him. Even if it means that she would lose her life. Therefore, she is not completely helpless, she basically avoids any kind of conflict.

However, this weakness is offset by her powerful Sorati warriors. These dragon-like creatures were created only for this purpose. They are loyal to their master and voluntarily give every life to protect her from death (more on this in the issue: The Folks of Daracoss).

Sorathis gives her blessing to anyone who asks for it. Regardless of what he believes in or who he is serving.

In all Sorati abbeys, her symbol is shown above the door frame. A golden sun with four wings. But the most common sign is still the golden dragon with four wings.

Guardiandragon Wyverex

Wyverex forms the counterpart to Sorathis. If she is the sunrise, he will be the sunset. He forms the link into the realm of the dead. Located deep in the Dead Mountain (more on this in the issue: Path), he guides the souls of the deceased to the other side.

He is also called the Dragon of Death. He cannot breath fire, but a touch from him is enough to pull the spark of life and the soul out of the body. He can silence any life and is even able to resuscitate dead bodies. He should even be able to bring a soul back from the other side into the living world. But this is always like a sinister agreement. He is able to generate echoes from himself. These are shadowy images of him, through which he can be in several places at the same time, so to speak. At the threshold of death, everyone will encounter either him or an echo from him.

According to the legends, he is said to be one of the Immortals. But that is not the truth. However, his appearance allows this fallacy.

Wyverex has numerous scars. You might think he was dead if there wasn't that bright glow in his eye sockets. A glistening white light shines out of them and emits a light blue smoke.

Bony paws hold its imposing shape on the floor. His whole body is covered in blood-red scales. There is a black shadow in the deep red color that seems to move in the light. He usually holds his bony wings up to the rear. The flying skins can't be seen in the jet-black smoke, which they produce. This black coat accompanies him like a shadow. Two wide, long horns give his otherwise intimidating head a powerful bonus.

Wyverex guides the souls of the deceased to the other side, to the realm of the dead. Many of the different peoples have different beliefs in the hereafter. But Wyverex doesn't care what they believed in life or what they fought for. Everyone is equal in death and he leads their souls to the other side.
