Considering Retirement
With the drones defeated and the Iron King in full retreat the team was allowed to rest meaning the girls could visit Katt in the hospital while Fang and Tamati got a check up from Doctor Quack of mobius who was a trusted friend of the freedom fighters and the royal family.
"I think it would be wise to take a few days off you two."
"If you say so doc."
"Sounds good to me, no doubt Fara's been worried sick."
"Can you blame her Fang? each mission we've been on it's always YOU that comes out half dead or beaten to a pulp you gotta stop being so reckless on these missions."
"I wish I could but you forget....it's in my nature."
Fang left the room still putting on his gloves leaving the doctor and Tamati a little concerned, meanwhile on the east wing of the hospital Katt had just gotten out of surgery and was resting in her own room with a nice view of Corneria city when the girls came in with a few get well presents.
"The doctors said you'll make a full recovery in a week."
"Glad to hear it....any news about Falco and Slippy?"
"They said Falco will be out for at least a few months and the same thing goes for Slippy."
"Hm that figures....WAIT! what about those drones-AGH!!"
"Easy! they were destroyed by Fang and Tamati."
"What?!? there's no way those two could've taken them!"
Katt then saw Tamati enter the room and was completely starstruck by his looks and almost began to daydream until Ammy grabbed him by the arm and kissed his cheek making him give a toothy grin before he pulled her in, then Katt noticed both Krystal and Fara had wedding rings on their fingers and because she was always on assignments with Falco this took her by surprise.
"So you two finally tied the knot, who are the lucky guys?"
"Well Krystal married Fox."
"Saw that coming."
"And Fara married Fang."
"That hedgehog? I don't really see him as the marrying type."
"He can be a real sweetheart once you get to know him."
While the girls and Tamati spent the day chatting with each other Fang went back to the apartment he and Fara were staying for a shower in since Jewel was old enough to take care of herself, as he stepped out of the shower he saw himself in the mirror and the scars he had gotten over his many battles and sighed as he stared at the one in his chest.
All his life he has done nothing but fought enemy against enemy, battle against battle with nothing to lose until he met Fara and the Starfox team, seeing as how it was a bright sunny afternoon he decided to take a stroll through the city after phoning Fara at the hospital.
"HEY IT'S HIM!!"
"The Dragon Champion!"
It was no surprise that fans from all over wanted Fangs autograph or photo since he was famous in some part of the system along with Starfox and for once he didn't feel like running away from them, he actually felt relaxed and at peace as he breathed in the city air catching the smell of a nearby restaraunt that triggered his hunger.
After grabbing a bite to eat he was spotted by Fara who ran up for a welcome home kiss and hug making him smile. The two spent the day together before taking the next space cruiser back to mobius, as they enjoyed the flight Fara noticed Fang was in deep thought before he looked at her with a serious expression.
"Fara....I think i'll retire."
"Really?"
"Yeah...these missions are getting more extreme each time and...i've been spending less time with you and Jewel...I haven't been fair to you."
"Fang-"
"No I mean it...i'll find a new job...maybe help with the war council back home....what do you think?"
"Well....yes...yes I think that would be great."
Once they landed Fang mailed his resignation from Starfox to Peppy who announced it to the team, they were a little disappointed but they knew Fang deserved it after everything he's been through but they still kept in touch from time to time just to check up on each other.
