Here's the ending of Maalum's story. It looks like this hybrid will finally be happy.
Thank you for reading this story. I'm planning to write a spin-off, developing more about his childhood, a prequel about his parents and maybe a sequel with him living in the Tree Of Life.
But now I have other things to do. Only the future will tell when I will write those stories.

Maalum feels a happiness like he never felt before. Finally, his life seems stabilized. Despite not having a family or a girlfriend, Maalum begins to look at Kion and Rani as siblings or something like that. They have been very nice to him and they have helped him to understand better and get to know the whole kingdom and all its inhabitants.
The more time that passes, the more the hybrid feels that this is his place, that this is where he belongs. On top of that, he now has a purpose. Maalum joins the Lion Guard every day to help them keeping the peace in the Tree Of Life. From time to time, he also helps the Night Pride.
Every day, Maalum likes to climb a mountain to watch the sunset. Sometimes, he remembers his past, between good and bad memories, and thinks about his uncertain future. He has been through a lot and he knows that it's impossible to predict what will happen in the future. However, he's sure of one thing: while he's on the Tree Of Life, while he's with Kion and Rani, happiness will hardly disappear. Because they accept him as he is and they trust him to help defend the circle of life.
"Maalum!" He hears Kion calling him.
With a big smile, Maalum runs down the mountain, satisfied that he has finally found his place in the circle of life.
