The Story Thus Far:

Almost four years ago Alex Winter accepted an offer from a crazy professor on his war torn and devastated world of Gaia to test some planet hopping tech in exchange for a meal and warm bath. That tech proved to not to work as advertised; the vagabond was slung across dimensions winding up on the same planet just in an alternate reality much different from his.

After a slight misunderstanding with the planet's ruler, Alex was adopted and integrated into that world's society unbeknownst to him- during what would be the waning days of its empire until the unthinkable and unimaginable happened.

One year ago today the light of civilization was extinguished and the long night began. In the twelve months that followed, the pitiful few that survived faced many, many hardships- the harsh winter that followed, as well as food and water shortages. The constant attacks from monsters that roamed the land after escaping undisclosed corporate laboratories didn't help things either. Neither did the entity which had ended the empire, enslaving the luckless souls it encountered.

As the year progressed additional adversaries appeared- an ancient creature that had been mysteriously sealed away was released to ravage the land, while a group of monsters unified under a new leader to... um, ravage the land. Meanwhile, in the remains of a metropolis a warlord rose, together with her demonic associate she vowed to bring order to that city by crushing her enemies. As the year drew to a close a sixth adversary, a strident subordinate of the previous regime, decided to fill the vacuum left behind by its demise.

While the new dark age was beginning, a secret colony formed determined to rekindle the light of civilization. It formed a coalition with like minded individuals and did achieve its goal although it was off-world. As the year ended, it looked back on the horrible 365 days that had just passed while hoping, praying, and pleading that the best days of its future were yet to come.

Chapter 121: Our Lives As We Have Lived It

Day 356 [December 31st] continued. (06:20 PM Infirmary)

"Oh crap!! oh crap!!" I quickly darted back into the infirmary, grabbed a medkit and then followed the knights as they raced out of the central tower to the undisclosed location of the space-gate.

(Well, I knew where it was)

"Alex, where are you going?" Penny asked.

"If any of our enemies followed us here from Counter Earth, it is going to be very bad for all involved. Besides I am the hostile environment specialist of the colony and I am quite experienced dealing with Others. I need to be there!"

Meanwhile at a modest single level structure on Main Street....

A black utility vehicle casually drove past two stunned gorillas guards and out of the building. The hover vehicle stopped and a tan and black canid beastial wearing a yellow shirt, brown shorts and sandals eagerly stepped out of the driver's side door.

"Let's see two suns, two moons, stone city surrounded by mountains bathed in- whoa!! The sky is orangish yellow!! This has to be the place!!"

"Who goes there!" An angry silverback gorilla approached displaying fully sharpened scythes.

"Ananias how is it going?" The jackal asked.

"Do I know you?"

"It is Titanous!!"

The male gorilla continued to stare at the intruder.

"You know from the Nexus!"

"I have never been there." The gorilla warrior exclaimed.

"Your lady friend knows me, I helped her relocate here!"

"Titanous?" Kala exclaimed.

"Hey what's up warrior lady?"

"You shouldn't have come here, especially unannounced." The former leader of the vigilantes said, drawing her curved swords.

"WHOA!!! WHOA!! WHOA!! I come in peace!!" The jackal said, raising his paws high.

"Why are you here?" Ananias asked.

"I kinda of missed Shira. You know the female barbarian warrior!! She is amazing! And easy on the eyes."

"I sympasize." The male gorilla said, eyeing the female gorilla.

As I arrived Lady Barq, T'hoka and Tanya, had surrounded the building with their weapons drawn and were confronting the invader who had arrived in Dongo's utility vehicle and was talking to Kala and Ananias?

"Being where we are we can't casually accept visitors from our former world unannounced. You could be an enemy in disguise." The female gorilla said.

"Titanous?!" I shouted.

"Hey Alex is Shira around? I thought I would pay her a visit." The jackal grinned sheepishly. In front of the frowning knights.

"Lady Barq, T'hoka, Tanya. It is not an invader, just an unannounced visitor." Kala exclaimed.

"Ok stand down everyone armageddon will have to wait for another day." The badger warrior said. "But for our own safety he must be fully vetted FULLY."

"Alex fetch Nezera." T'hoka ordered. "Tanya fetch Ms. Una. I will fetch the commander."

6:50 PM Knight's Headquarters....

"Wow, you people are really xenophobic!" Titanous said looking around. He was on a stool in the briefing room being studied by three knights, a bat and a naga.

"It is necessary for the survival of this colony son." The rhino said to the jackal. "You are now under the influence of my weapon's truth ray."

With that the vampire bat and naga hypnotised the jackal asking him deep thought provoking and embarrassing questions.

"Who do you serve?"

"Um no one."

"Whom do you follow?"

"Shira, I would follow her to the end of Counter Earth. Wait, I didn't mean to say that!!!"

"So you have a crush on her?"

"Nnnn... nnnn... YES! Wait, I didn't mean to say that either!!!"

"Why?"

"She is amazing!! Ferocious, strong, fierce, resourceful and powerful and so great to look at."

"Not an Other, minion or monster worshiper." Nezera concluded. "Just a love sick mutt- damn, and I was hoping I would get to feed off him."

"How did you find us here let alone operate the space-gate?" Ms. Una asked.

"I already knew of the gate's location and watched the Chado use it before on a couple prior missions." The jackal responded. "Ugh, my mind feels like mush."

"I apologize, we needed to make sure that you were you." Tanya said. "T'hoka and I will take him to the infirmary and let you recover from there."

"Oh and could someone tell Shira I am here?" The jackal asked.

7:49 PM Infirmary....

"Titanous what are you doing here?" Shira asked running into medical.

"I missed you." He said candidly as I looked on. "So I thought I would stop by, say hi and see where you live. I just didn't know that security would be so, um, tight. They wanted to even do a body cavity search."

"Actually you arrived at a good time." The saber tooth tigress said locking arms with her suitor and leading him away.

9:34 PM Friendship Park....

"Hi is this seat taken?"

"Um, no." Angi said watching the final rehearsal for the upcoming festival.

"Enjoying the practice miss?" A peculiar looking creature asked sitting down on the park bench next to the girl.

"Yeah, the celebration is starting to come together." The former faux beagle said.

"It is really amazing since it was just announced yesterday. I think it was Kiwi who came up with the idea."

"How did you know that um?" Angi started to say looking at the being.

"I am Bine of the Eeth. We are a proud and ancient species from the other side of the planet."

The being looked to be a mixture of creatures, canine, feline and lizard.

"Oh my." Angi said looking at him.

"We had heard that the Chado had offered their paws in friendship to some off-worlders and I came to investigate." Bine said all mysterious like.

Angi just looked at the brown/tanish being. "How long have you been watching us?"

"Since your arrival. You seem like a fair people. But I have been most fascinated by you Angi. You at one time longed to be that which you are not."

The girl just stared at the creature.

"In fact despite some conditioning you still do deep down inside. I propose a exchange; I would like to know what is like to be one of you and in return you can see, feel and experience what it is like to be one of us."

"Riiiight!!!" The girl said crossing her arms in extreme doubt. "Where I come from that is a set up for a double cross."

"I assure you that I do not hold any malice, or ill will, or, or your language is a little mysterious.... I mean xenophobia. I will demonstrate."

The being placed his paws on the Angi's head. She saw flashes of an ancient, proud civilization, on the far side of the planet living in pyramid like structures and worshiping a white glowing pearl.

"WOW!!!" Angi shrieked.

"Intrigued?"

She nodded. "But I don't know, I already agreed to participate in the Chado's exchange program."

"We can exchange just for tonight if you want." The being said clasping her hands in his paws.

"Well I don't know..."

"I know you are curious, Angi. As you can see I have paws, claws, fangs, a tail and a pretty good looking snout...."

"YES!!" The girl said. "Yes, make it so!!!"

"I thought you would agree. Now place your hands on my paws if you will...."

*SWAP*

Before she knew it the former faux beagle was staring at her body from behind the creature's eyes and he from hers.

"Wow, this is incredible!! I have an actual tail!!! So this is what it feels like!!"

"Alright, we will meet back here at your 6 AM and compare experiences. If you like it we can extend our deal. Now- is there anything I should know about being you?"

"Well... Bine you know that I am a female right?"

11:59 PM Main Street....

The crowd that was assembled on Main Street in front of the Central Tower grew very quiet as they reflected on the year that had just passed, those we had brought with us to this new world, those we had lost on the old world and the total upheaval on everyone's lives that started a year ago today.

King Dragon made his way from the Central Tower on to the stage accompanied by Duchess Jua and Manderine. He was just in time for the final countdown as the current year ended.

"Three!!! Two!!! One!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" The crowd shouted.

Day 357 [January 1, YOE 35] 12:01 am downtown World Seven

"My fellow subjects, my fellow colonists, my friends and my family The Year of Empire 34 saw the end of our world as we knew it. Our lives were disrupted as never before; order and stability were replaced by instability, pain, misery, suffering, fear and chaos. Many died, many were injured, many were enslaved- some willingly believing that it was their best and only option. But there was still another, we took it, which is why we are standing here today." King Dragon said bowing his head solemnly. "And now we will mark December 31st as a day of remembrance of all we have lost. That is one tradition that has been established."

All eyes fell on the goofy dragon as he continued:

"But on the first day of this new year I would like to start another tradition, a new tradition- The Midnight Festival which will symbolize our resurrection, our rebirth against almost insurmountable odds as we take control of our lives, our destiny, our future!!" Sorren said, stepping to his side and presenting the city, our new home, World Seven to the crowd.

*CREEEEEAAAAAK*

In the distance a building a block or so from the central tower started to lean precariously as if it wanted to topple just to spite the young monarch. King Dragon snorted smoke from his nostrils as he glared right at it- daring it to defy him.

*CREAK*

The building immediately righted itself!!

The Duchess looked at the building then Sorren. She saw it, but still couldn't believe it!

"EVERYONE WELCOME TO THE MIDNIGHT FESTIVAL!!!" Sorren announced.

Thunderous applause was heard from the inhabitants and the guests that had traveled to the city from the surrounding areas. The celebration began with the children of the colony walking down Main Street in rows of four twirling streamers. I saw Corbin, Kip, Yogi, Angi, Arthur, Minka, Little Gia, Little Corey, Addy, Mia, Khai and Kiwi among the performers. They looked quite good. Following them there were dancers dancing in the streets, sky decorations being flown to the delight of the many spectators. I saw two of the merfolk performing acrobatics. One of the sand folk was breathing fire into various forms and shapes. No wait, that was Duchess Jua and the mudfolk were offering mud baths.

(Yeah they would.)

Meanwhile within the parade....

"Am I doing it right?" Kip asked the mongoose and yeti.

"Almost." Yogi replied. "Put your wrist into it!!"

"Wave your streamer back and forth like this!" Corbin said, displaying his proficiency.

"Hey I think I can see your mom in the crowd Kip!" Yogi said.

"And I think I see yours too Corbin!" Kip said pointing to a blond archeologist who was waving back enthusiastically.

"Such a flake." The little mongoose boy said embarrassed.

There were also dessert vendors too. I saw Mitsa and Lune selling their pastries to the crowd. And it looked like the Wilds were working late in their restaurant judging by the line leading into the central tower.

The partying went on to the early morning hours. The knight core was kept busy managing security while Shakara, Nezera and myself manned our medical kiosk while Lily Blossom and Penny were running the infirmary.

"So what do you think Nezera?" The dark tan lioness asked the vampire bat.

"Quite engaging."

"I know right? We needed this, friendship, love and community." Shakara said as the lady bat departed our station and headed into the crowd.

"Nezera do you see something?" I asked.

"No. I am just going out for a quick bite. Care to join me?" She said, displaying her fangs.

(That was such a Nezera statement.)

Elsewhere within the celebration....

"You guys really know how to have a party!" The jackal said to his female hosts.

"What? You don't have parades in the Nexus?" Shira said to Titanous.

"No not really, there just aren't enough of us to hold something this extravagant."

"So that means that you will be staying for while then doesn't it?" Gia said petting the canine on his head.

"Well maybe for a few days."

"I think we should take him prisoner." Gia teased.

"Yeah, I think he will discover that this is the perfect place; it is all that he will ever need." Shira added.

5:52 AM The Bear's Lair....

It was just before six when Shakara, and myself returned to the lair, we found our bear on the patio roof.

"Now that was a celebration little cutie!!"

"Yeah, it is great to let loose every now and again, right mistress?" I asked as Shakara and I walked out on to the roof.

My mistress had been observing the festival from above and signaling to the knights on street where they were needed. I saw Chemar and Sanda clearing out the crowd as the celebration wound down.

Lady Ursa had a weird look on her face- somewhere between shock and disbelief as she stared at the events taking place below.

"Mistress is something wrong?"

"Did Shira make out with Titanous?" My lioness asked.

"No."

"Was there an incident at the festival big cutie? I know the attendance was quite large."

"No, the crowd behaved well. I just think I had a little too much celebration." She said wrapping her arms around us. "It is time to call it a night."

"Agreed, I am spent too mistress."

"I could go for a few more hours." The dark tan lioness said until I gave her a 'are you for real?' stare.

"On second thought we should call it a night."

06:30 AM Friendship Park....

"It appears that you didn't abuse my body too much." Bine said sitting down next to himself on the park bench.

"Well, it still feels kind of weird especially when I have to pee. But I am getting the hang of it."

"And?" The being inhabiting Angi's body asked.

"I love having paws, claws, fangs, fur and tail!"

"So you like?"

The girl inhabiting the Eeth's body nodded eagerly.

"On the contrary I find this form furless, tailless, weak and limiting Yet, appealing in a strange sort of way. So what do you say?"

The girl in the creature's body nodded.

"Great, my parents are coming! Act normal!"

"Wait? Parents? Weren't you here by yourself?" Angi gasped.

"So there you are Bine!" A older Eeth said walking up to the two on the park bench. "So did you enjoy yourself?"

The being in Angi's body had to nudge the girl in his body to get her to respond.

"Yes!! This was exceptional! I even made a friend!"

"Well come along it is time to head out. If you are good we might come back to visit from time to time."

Angi and Bine snickered at the remark.

09:16 AM Lady Ursa's Chambers....

"Big cutie are you alright?" Shakara asked as my perfect person was moaning.

"You seem quite restless mistress."

"I don't know. Alex, Shakara I have never felt like this." Our ursine lover said trying to get comfortable.

*SPLOSH*

"Did she just...?"

"No." The leonine healer said, examining the puddle that squirted from our bear's cave of wonder. "Big cutie you are labor."

"You mean it is happening today!" It is happening today?!

"Um hmm. It will no longer be just the three of us." My lioness said to me.

"Let's just get this over with!" Our bear groaned.

"Mistress you are not even fully dilated; it is going to be a while." I said placing my hand on my beloved's shoulder.

"OAH, how much of a while?" The brown bear beastial asked uneasily.

"Could be up to eight hours. Right now you are just getting ready to get ready." The red eyed lioness said.

"EIGHT HOURS?!!"

Meanwhile at Ms. Una's Classroom....

"My there are some many tired faces this morning!" The red female naga commented as she observed so many yawns from her class. "Were some of you awake past your bed times?"

The tired younglings nodded. All except Angi, the human girl seemed to be quite energetic this morning.

"Well I am not going to keep everyone because I know that all of you are very tired and need your rest. I just wanted to announce that the school is adding additional staffing; there will be a new teacher coming aboard to share the workload with me."

"Who might that be?" A young yeti asked, raising his paw.

"Ms. Rose, Yogi."

Kip blushed a little as Kiwi, Arthur and Minka congratulated him.

11:34 AM Lady Ursa's Chambers....

"Is it time yet?" My fierce ursine warrior asked impatiently.

Shakara measured the bear's cub tunnel. "Not yet big cutie."

*MOAN*

"And that was not a moan of pleasure I am afraid." I said observing my naked she beast's discomfort.

"I could give you something for the pain if you like." The red eye lioness suggested.

"NO!!!" The bear roared.

"Or not." Shakara said recoiling backwards.

"Sorry. I want this birth to be as natural as possible." Lady Ursa said moaning again.

"You know what that means mistress." I warned.

"Pain, discomfort and suffering. I know. Alex, Shakara in the coming hours- I may say some hurtful, mean and spiteful things that are quite unbecoming of a knight. If I do please forgive me. I don't mean any of it."

"Blanket apology big cutie?"

"Yes." The future mom said.

Meanwhile at the Knight's Headquarters....

"Was everyone at the festival?" Linias said looking around. "Where is everybody?"

"Let's see all the senior knights, the mid-level knights- Cole, Chemar, Kala and Naka were working overnight so that leaves us junior knights." Gahri said his face devoid of expression.

*Hiss* *Hiss* The fire lizard next to the scorpion boy commented.

"What did he say?" The spring hare asked.

"The children are in charge while the parents are away." Ananias grumbled.

"Exactly right." The young monster said.

"Not really Lady Ursa has the watch this afternoon." Tanya said, correcting her peers.

"Nope not today." Naka said, walking into the briefing room.

"What happened?" T'hoka asked the maned wolf.

"She is having her cub." The canine said to the mountain reedbuck.

Those in the briefing room looked at each other and smiled. Especially the red deer and mountain reedbuck who wondered if they should also settle down and start a family.

12:40 PM Outside Central Tower....

"Boris glad Boris didn't attend all of night celebration. Needed rest to break down stage and podium this afternoon." The brown bear said enthusiastically.

"That makes one of us check mark." The black haired teen said yawning.

"...we were there for the whole thing..." Rumble grumbled as a pair of someones ran out the tower and by them really quick.

Boris, Rumble and Corey dropped what they were doing and went to investigate.

The blurs stopped in front of a familiar house across from theirs.

"Short stack, professor what is going on?" The teen asked the blond archaeologist and mongoose.

"Isn't it wonderful?!" Dawn said, hugging Corey, Rumble and Boris.

"...what...?" The were-creature asked.

"Momma bear is going to become a real momma bear!" Corbin said as Boris' eyes went wide.

1:06 PM The bear's lair....

"I have never felt pain like this!! Shakara, Alex please tell me it is time!!"

"Nope, the contractions aren't close enough yet." The lioness said, measuring the bear's cub tunnel. As we were abruptly interrupted.

"Pretty lady bear is rumor true?" Boris said, opening the door to her chambers.

"YOU ARE NEVER, NOT EVER, TO TOUCH ME AGAIN DO YOU HEAR ME!!!"

(Whoa...)

Meanwhile as the pregnant bear's verbal shockwave reached a home at the far edge of the city....

"What was that?" A jackal said, stirring. "Is it a Counter Earthquake?"

"Titanous you aren't on Counter Earth anymore remember?" A blond barbarian resting next to him said.

"Oh yeah right I am on Chaundoon."

"And you won't be leaving anytime soon." A saber-tooth tigress said nuzzling the jackal.

"Why is that again?"

"We heard what you said during your interrogation; you have a thing for female barbarians." Gia whispered into his ear.

"Um you heard about that?" Titanous blushed.

The two females nodded.

"Shira and I also have a thing for adorable canines with their own transportation."

It dawned on the jackal that he was going to be the female warriors' captivated captive for quite a long, long time. Deep down, he in his heart of hearts he was ok with that.

3:30 PM Russell and Nikka's New Bed and Breakfast....

"Did you enjoy your stay?" The she skunk asked the dragon like being.

"Most definitely. The midnight festival was wondrous and even our leader attended. Is this going to be a yearly event?"

"I would believe so." The miniature horse responded.

"Then I will definitely be back next year. Count on it." Their guest said waving.

"Looks like you are right Nikka, we might have found a new calling."

"Speaking of that, I better head back over to the restaurant to check on Tina, Mia, Little Corey and Pabu they were running the restaurant for Hue and Dianna today you keep tabs on things here. I will be back later!"

Russell and Addy watched the she skunk leave.

"If she is going to split her time between here and the restaurant we might need some additional staffing around here Addy."

*Schwee!!*

Meanwhile a mother to be was growing impatient....

"This is the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life!!" My mistress grumbled. "Being run through with a sword would be more pleasurable!!"

"Pain can't be as bad as that pretty lady bear." Boris said, trying to objectify my mistress. He received a nasty glare for his efforts. "Yes, Boris will be quiet now."

"There there big bear, she doesn't mean what she is saying, it is just that she is in a lot of pain right now." I said patting him on his shoulder.

"I HAVE BEEN FOR SIX HOURS!!! I want this thing out of me now!!"

"Hmm...." My lioness said running her triangle scanning device over Lady Ursa's vagina. "You are fully dilated big cutie and more importantly your contractions are rather close; it's time."

"Mistress we are going to have you lie back, elevate and splay your legs and breathe."

"Remember to push only when you feel the contractions otherwise you will tear yourself." Shakara advised our mutual lover.

Our fierce ursine warrior paused for a minute. "No."

"Big cutie?"

"Mistress?"

"Pretty lady bear?"

"Help me to the great room." She ordered the three of us.

Boris, Shakara and I looked at each other.

"NOW!" She groaned-moaned.

Carefully we helped her off of the bed, down the stairs and onto the white rug in front of the sofa.

"Boris does not understand." The dark brown bear asked confused.

"I observed the mother civet when it was her time *UGH* and how she groaned, whined and complained during the whole *AHH* event. Not I. I will birth my cub my way... like a warrior."

(Like a warrior?)

Lady Ursa squatted and then kneeled, putting her weight on her left knee while her right leg was outstretched. With her breeding partner standing behind steadying her. She then ordered Shakara to kneel to her immediate right and me to her immediate left.

It looked like Boris, myself and Shakara were attending to the needs of some high priestess.

The bear knight then started breathing and pushing with her contractions. Groaning loudly she took her left paw and covered her vagina. "Alex." She then took her right paw and guided my left hand to rest upon her left paw. "Shakara." She then used her right paw and guided Shakara's right paw to rest upon my hand.

The mother-to-be let out a large grunt-groan-shriek as her left paw took hold of something. Slowly she removed her paw from her cub tunnel. My hand and my lioness' paw mimicking her movement. Within our lover's paw was a little baby bear, upside down, covered in gook. It started to cry almost immediately.

Lady Ursa had her pregnancy on her own schedule and had given birth to her newborn on her own terms including Shakara, myself and Boris in the process.

"Wow, you did that all at once mistress. I thought only the head and arms would be visible and Shakara and I would have to pull out the rest."

"I just wanted it to be over and done with Alex." My she beast said breathing a huge sigh of relief while Shakara examined the newborn.

"A girl, very healthy with a big set of lungs on her." The leonine healer said.

"Well she has had a traumatizing day; she was born." I countered.

"She is beautiful." Boris said while my devious person cut the umbilical cord and cleaned her off. "She will grow up in safe world with loving mama bear, loving papa bear and two loving sub-parents; welcome daughter."

"Yes welcome young mistress." I replied.

Her fur was a shade of brown in between that of her parents with a splotch of tan on her muzzle just below her nose almost down to her chin.

"Boris do you know that you are pointing right now?" I asked looking at his bare groin.

"Boris gets excited watching offspring emerge from pretty lady bear."

"That just might be a fetish." The lioness said grinning broadly. "So what is her name?"

"Beatrice." Lady Ursa responded almost immediately.

"Nadya." Boris responded at the same time.

"WHOA!!!" I exclaimed.

"Big bear, big cutie, it looks like you have some things to discuss." Shakara said.

"We will spread the news and be back for the afterbirth." I said running upstairs to get dressed. Shakara followed me.

"Wait, there is more?!" My perfect person gasped.

The neighbors standing watch outside were elated by the news.

"Momma bear is really a momma bear!" Corbin gushed.

"She had a girl?" Professor Stern asked.

"...loud healthy girl..." Rumble said listening.

"Congratulations are in order." Dianna said.

"Kinda of makes me wish we could of have some more of our own." Hue said making a goofy face at his mate.

"When can we see the new mother?" Corey asked.

"It will be a little while the parents have to clean up a bit, agree on a name and bond with their daughter." I said folding my hands behind my head.

My mistress did see some well wishers a little later on including Milton and Melinda who donated a bassinet for Beatrice. Yeah, we knew who won that argument.

09:30 PM Rooftop terrace....

"What a day, I didn't think big cutie was going to survive it." Shakara said, sitting down next to me to look at the night sky.

"After being through the experience once, I don't see that she would be that eager again. I mean raising younglings is a very, very hard thing to do." I said leaning on my lioness.

"True but momma bear and poppa bear have little freckled boy and red-eyed lioness to help out when parents are exhausted. Won't be that hard." A voice said as two paws softly touched our shoulders. "And if pretty lady bear wants additional cubs, Boris is ready and is willing."

"But is he able?" The sexy lioness said massaging the dark brown bear's scrotum.

"Perhaps we need to conduct a sperm count to determine if our big bear is still fertile. I will go get my medkit."

(That was such a Shakara statement.)
