#46 of Writing Prompts

It's been a while since I did one of these, but it is fun to get back in the game. I've been a bit busy working on a project and kingmaker got the rest of my waking hours. Anyway, this time instead of a prompt, the Group gave us more of a challenge: "Create a dialogue between two characters without dialogue tags."

I wanted to give it a try and see if I could do a good job. I'd love to hear if you can easily recognize who's talking at each turn, without further ado enjoy

Doubt and Trust

"Are you certain about this? We don't have to do it if you don't want to." said Tarren with a touch of trepidation in his voice, watching his boyfriend approach with a coy smile.

"I am and I do." the brown furred minotaur replied, taking a seat on the bed next to the dark green orc. "I've been looking forward to this all morning."

Meaty brown fingers sneaked between green ones while a large furry hand cupped the orc's chin. Nervous amber eyes met excited red ones, love reflecting in them both; the minotaur's fingers caressed Tarren's skin with tenderness, a warm smile appearing on the bull's snout. The bovine leaned closer, their noses touching for a brief moment beforet he placed a quick kiss on the orc's lips. The minotaur pulled back, his nostrils flaring as he took on the citric scent of his beloved.

"You're beautiful, you know? A true wonder of the world." the bovine rumbled with a velvet voice, bringing a red hue to the orc's cheeks.

"You are pulling my leg, Orbric. I'm nothing as fantastic as that." Tarren complained, playfully pushing away the big bull.

"But you are. The prettiest orc I have ever seen, I'd bet my horns on it." Orbric brought the orc's hand to his lips and planted a gentle kiss on the knuckles, robbing a giggle out of the orc.

"Now, I am certain you are kidding. There is no way you would ever bet your horns on anything."

"Of course I wouldn't, I'd only do it for you." the orc's eyes shone with amusement, his fingers idly playing with the black tuft of fur on the bovine's chest.

"Even if I refused this request of yours? If I said I don't feel comfortable doing this?"

"Of course. I want you to be happy T."

Tarren buried his head in the crook of the bull's neck, the scent of cinnamon and chocolate filling his nose; Orbric hand's rose to softly pet the orc's head, his fingers combing his boyfriend's thick forest of black hair.

"It's okay if you don't want to, we can do this another time. No pressure."

"It is not that. It's just, it's complicated and I'm not sure how to put it into words."

"Take your time love, there's no need to hurry."

Only the sound of their breaths could be heard across the room as they held each other in a tight embrace, the orc's body trembling slightly in the minotaur's hold. A few minutes passed by before the quiet was broken.

"I'm terrified, my mind can't stop wondering what would happen if you don't like what you see, if I make a fool of myself. Or worse, if ruin this moment and-- and our relationship. I have never gone this far with anyone, never shared so much of myself with another, and knowing I could lose it, scares me to death. But..."

"But?"

"I, I want to try this, with you. Just, have patience with me. This all feels so weird, my heart is beating so fast it feels like it's going to explode and my hands feel cold, and yet, yet I want to do this."

The orc grasped the minotaur's snout in a nervous hold, gulping loudly before his lips met the bull's. It was a soft kiss, only the mere touching of lips but it made the orc's body tremble in the bull's hold. Orbric hand slid down Tarren's back, bringing the orc closer to him while his other hand caressed the back of his boyfriend's neck. The two kissed once more, taking their time to enjoy the sensations the act ignited in both of them. Their lips parted to let their tongue meet, the rough bovine tongue wrapping around the smoother orc one. A soft moan left the orc as they broke the kiss, his body felt lighter and hotter at the same time, a hunger for the bull waking up for the first time.

"How was it? Good?"

"It was even more than that, overwhelming but in a good way."

"Good, good. I'm glad to hear that."

Orbric laid back on the bed, sinking in the soft mattress. He flashed a soft smile to his orc and placed one of the orc's hands on his furred chest.

"We'll go slow love. Take your time to explore"

"But, what about you? It doesn't feel fair."

"I can wait. This time, it's all about you."

The orc's hand sank into the minotaur's fur, the soft thick hairs caressed his skin and brought a giggle out of him. His other hand joined the exploration, delving into the furry forest until it hit the hard muscle hidden underneath. The orc let out an appreciative hmm as his hands traced lazy circles all over the bull's chest and stomach. Each rub left a trail of parted fur, whose color changed with every pass of green hands, almost like magic; deep dark fur would make way for chestnut then to roan and back to brown. Tarren's eyes couldn't get enough of it, the show of colors captivating him fully and bleeding away the tension in his shoulders and back. Orbric for his part mooed softly his approval, letting the orc have his way under his loving gaze.

"You look cute like that, all focused and happy."

"Wh- what?"

"I said, you look cute like that."

"I heard, just, why would you say something like that all of the sudden?"

"Dunno, it felt right. You don't like it."

"No, I just, I wasn't prepared for it."

"Well, you should be, I have a few more in mind."

"Really? like what?"

"You really know how to rub me."

"..."

"Ha ha ha, bull ate your tongue?"

"...you're impossible."

"At least I'm adorabull."

"..."

"Come on babe, that was a good one."

"No more rubs for you, ever."

"Nooo...come on babe, don't go."

"No more puns and innuendoes?"

"Yes."

"Or pranks?"

"For a day?"

"For a day."

"Very well, you have regained your rubbing privileges."

"Good, now get back to rubbing."

"You're so spoiled."

"All thanks to you, T. I love you."

"Yeah, I love you too big guy."
