Rebuilding fences with wheels

I wrote this short story early this year to try and calm myself after some online drama.

Figured I'd upload this rushjob now.

Razin sat in his black and purple BMW M4 parked in his garage. The car had been sitting there for three months by this point in time, only seeing the track on private test sessions with just him and his friend, agent and team manager King Ghidorah. He had earlier that day announced his retirement from the league he got signed to drive this car for the season and was now solemnly seated in the driver's seat just thinking about the recent months that had passed.

As the bipedal Changeling with pitch black fur, dark cerulean hair like his superior's, and yes even that signature crooked horn on an equinid snout, sat there, he fondly remembered the good times, despite the sparingly few number of them he had over the course of the season. Primarily his near wins at famed tracks like Suzuka in Japan and Monza in Italy. Though as he thinks about those memories, he sighs and his gaze turns to one of.... Primarily anger and hate. The hate was directed at his rival and now bitter enemy, a racer he knew he wouldn't see again. An evil version of the devil from Tartarus, Lord Tirek.

He had spent last year, as it turns out, disguised as the leader of the Sombraic Empire King Sombra and thus this was how the Changeling Commander got recruited to drive the 48 Chevy. Why was it on a BMW chassis? That's a story best saved for a campfire tale on another day. Point being the thought was by bringing in Razin, maybe this evil variant of Tirek would be stopped or at least have fair competition. Alas the presence of such a high ranking official only emboldened Tirek as he began to use his magic stealing abilities, combined with his silver tongue to gain further advantages by any means necessary. It even got to the point where he was wiggling his way out of rulebook imposed performance degradations based on qualifying times.

These choices, combined with the unwillingness to give his onboard footage to the media outlets on Equestria after they lost their video footage due to technical failures mid season pushed the military minded male to his psychological breaking point. He couldn't take it anymore. And as such he saw that his personal lockout strategy was not getting him to his war like objective. As such he on this day decided to take back control, and retire permanently from the league. Though now, as he listens to a symphonic metal genre song called Harmony Restored to try and calm his anger... an eerie sadness mixed with calm washes over the long hardened commander.

Was this a feeling regret creeping over him? He shakes his head, as if to try and drive those thoughts away and says to himself as he idly drums on his Sparco brand steering wheel with his dark cerulean clawed thumbs "Ugh... the season I could have had. Had THAT TIREK NOT BEEN ALLOWED TO BE ELIGIBLE. He.... HE RUINED IT ALL. And I was developing a bond with that tubby raccoon too. And what does that devil centaur do? Shoo him off. That bitch! AAARGH! He's lucky he's an alternate dimension Tirek and not under this jurisdiction or I'd make sure that both Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon would punish him sternly and with upmost ferocity!"

As he slams his fists on his thighs in disgust and hate, a familiar voice rumbles to him from close by, followed by the shutting of a car door. Sure enough as Razin looks to his right, he sees his three headed dragon buddy sitting there In the specially designed passenger's seat. The equinid gazes at the draconic male with a soft blush and says sheepishly "Oh.. hey Ghidorah. Not sure..." Then he was interrupted by the slow movement of a yellow golden scaled finger to his lime green lips and the alien says in a soft tone "Relax.... You might have had a rough year Razin but I know, just as deep down you know, we will get through this. This retirement call is not the end of your racing career. You showed me. Hell, you showed all my kaiju friends just the potential you had at Monza and especially at Suzuka. Your expertise as a methodically minded leader with your strategies and cunning... it served you well those races. You, just as I said before your press conference, just got screwed over by a dominant cheater. I think we can get something arranged where you can show your potential and abilities as a tactician." Just before the Changeling was about to reply, a black cloud of what could only be described as shadow smoke appears beside the car outside Razin's window. This cloud is replaced by a unicorn of grey fur with a purple cloak, black hair and crimson red eyes. He says to Razin "Hey there commander. Saw your conference earlier, and I...." The royal king from the cold lands up north pauses, with a gaze of uncertainty before resuming hopeful his words would aid, "I think quitting was the bravest and honestly the only decision to be made given the circumstances. You had no shot at a fair fight so you left. I would have done the same thing in your shoes. And listen... when you accused me of being your enemy in that league, I looking back in hindsight, understand where your mind was going. You saw a being like me, couldn't gather intel and just had to go off your gut. No hard feelings." Visibly relieved by that statement, Razin nods and pats Sombra on his lower back "I'm pleased to see you understand my mindset and forgive me."

The unicorn male nods back and says in a royally calm tone "Of course, my southern empirical ally. We need to stick together because if we don't we are no better than the humans running that league and if we don't strive to become better than them then, well, what even is the point of you retiring? Now..." A smile slowly becomes visible on the king's face "How about we head on track? I'm willing to bet you're a bit rusty and to be honest, I'm in the mood to drive, as is Nightmare Moon. I'll leave the track up to you. What do you say?"

The changeling commander nods as his horn glows green and him, the draconic male, Sombra and Nightmare appear, all in appropriately colored Lotus Evoras on the starting grid at the famous Paul Ricard circuit in France at night under a full moon. In the flagstand was Starlight Glimmer, and with her horn aglow with its usual aquamarine glow she makes the lights used for Formula One races go alight with aquamarine lights one by one until all five are alight. It takes a few seconds, but soon all the lights on the grid go out and the cars go off speeding towards the first turn. Who'd win? Who knows... all that mattered to Razin was that he was having fun with his Equestrian allies once again doing what they all loved. Going fast and kicking ass.
