The first sensation something was wrong was when Melody felt feverish. Many people would've shrugged this off as just being sick, and Melody would have as well, but it didn't stop after she got some water and laid down for a bit. As she lie there, she felt the world swimming a bit around her, things moving in and out of her perception as she felt like she was going to vomit. But that didn't come to her, at least not right away. She'd never been this sick before, and it was painful and unpleasant; she definitely got more context on why humans complained so much when sick. As she stood up, she went to the mirror, intending to douse her face in cold water and get a cloth.

When she got there, she could already tell something was off. Her skin felt dry, and chalky. Like it did in the winter, or when her hands were shifted into her wereowl form. She coughed a bit, splashing water on her face to try and cool down a bit, rubbing her hands across the tender skin, and wetting her hair to slick it back, taking the braid out and letting her ponytail fall down. Groaning, she looked up into the mirror, just in time to watch her eyes turn yellow and bloodshot. She coughed some more and started moving back for her bed.

As she walked, the fever hit again, pushing her to her knees as she retched, trying to keep from throwing up entirely. She succeeded for the moment, but then her head started to ache, a massive pain developing in her skull. Falling to her side, her vision started to blur as her skull started pushing out, growing longer, but not with a pointed beak like she was used to. Instead, it was a blunted off snout, with large nostrils. Her eyes slid back, overlooking the snout, and as she coughed again, she suddenly felt her teeth starting to move around in her mouth. Her molars slid forward in position, and then with a sickening feeling, slid out entirely as she coughed them and her incisors out to the ground. This was the point when she realized something was definitely wrong, as normally her teeth fused or shifted, not fell out. The discarded teeth lay on the wooden floor as her canines grew larger, longer, and hollowed out. She felt something filling the empty area in her gums where her teeth had vacated, and it was liquid, not solid.

As this point she brought her hand up to feel her face, fighting against the fever as she did so, and recoiled in shock as it came into her vision. It was covered in ochre scales, the fingers having elongated and grown sharp claws while she was focused on her head. She brought her other hand up to check if it had similarly changed, and it had. The scales were creeping up her arms now, moving towards her shoulders as her musculature became lighter, more toned and sinewy. She tore her vision away for a moment to go back to examining her new dentition and skull, and confirmed she only had large fang like teeth now. As she brushed one, she felt a liquid move onto the back of her hand. It burned as she touched it! She quickly rubbed her hand off on her shirt, the liquid soaking into the fabric... and then eating a hole in the clothing. Whatever it was, this was not good for anyone.

Another wave of fever set in, and she doubled over as her hair started falling out, first in small amounts, strands at a time, and then in larger clumps, leaving her bald in short order. Once her hair was spread across the floor, her ears fanned out, attaching to the top and sides of her head, forming a fleshy, flared hood around her skull. As she continued changing, more scaled started to cover her face and neck, moving down her torso once they got that far. Her spine shifted, becoming much more fluid and flexible, and most of her ribcage as well. Her breasts became a bit more prominent, though not much, as she was there on the floor. Certainly, she had a great deal more ability to turn and coil than she'd had before. Spreading down to her stomach, she vomited for real this time as her internal organs scrunched around, shifting to make room along her torso. The wood's finish was quickly eaten away by the acidic venom of her fangs that mixed in.

As she lie there, her top half almost finished, a heat took over her lower body, starting to warm and settle into her legs. Melody didn't like where this was going, but she wasn't exactly being asked either, was she? Her skin started to fuse, moving down from her waist as the jeans she was wearing tore as the sensation traveled down, soon leaving her wearing a torn skirt of jeans instead of pants. Merging together, her legs became more floppy, and longer, lengthening until they were twice, three, four times her body length, tapering the whole wile from where they started at her trunk. Powerful muscles began to take shape in her new tail, the scales covering it with a snake pattern that she could see on the upper half. Her jeans slipped off her waist, falling down to the ground as she started to slither out of them, her tail allowing her to coil and 'stand' upright with the strong musculature present in it. She experimentally tried to move across the floor, away from the venomous pool on the ground, and was able to easily manage this task.

She looked around at the window, then realized something she was off. The lights of the city were much higher than they'd been last time she'd looked out, like the buildings had gotten taller and larger. Moving lights in the sky seemed to belong to craft flying in the sky, but they were not helicopters she was familiar with. A strange language filled her mind, and when two heavily armored soldiers on the ground spoke a yapping language, she realized she understood the orders that were being given to secure her building. She wondered why it'd need to be secured... then realized, she agreed. There were plenty of humans in this building, and they'd need to be corralled and kept from being a threat or getting in the way during the search. She wasn't sure what they were searching for, but she reached for her plasma weapon and picked it up, preparing to leave the room and head out to assist the ADVENT coalition.
