Jake sighed as he knew who his next opponent was, Drake, the host of this tournament. The fox shook his head as he looked over at Spencer, praying that they could, at least, duel again at the finals. Looking back at the dragon, he sighed again and shuffled his deck and put it in his duel disk, ready to get this over with. All he heard were two things, a loud, maniacal laughter, and a raging roar of sorrow. He turned just in time to see his feline rival lunge after Drake, claws extended as if he were going for the kill.

"How DARE you!? I swear Drake, if you and I meet in the finals, I won't hold back and beat you so hard, you'll fly into the sea!" the panther roared in unbridled rage.

"Hehehe, do you REALLY think this is a personal vendetta just because I beat that nice piece of tail of a wolfess? Please, don't let such emotions cloud your mind. Only the heartless will win," the dragon cruelly toyed.

If the fox hadn't kept the feline at bay, the panther was sure to rip the emotionless dragon to ribbons. Jake struggled hard against the well-toned Spencer, giving it his all to not be knocked over and to avoid being shredded by those claws. After some time, he hurled the panther backwards, knocking him into the cloaked fur, causing his/her hood to fall back as they both fell. Jake walked up and lended a paw for the panther, who slowly accepted it.

"This is not the time nor the place to let your pain take over Spencer. He's playing mind games with you, a brutal, but effective tactic. Don't stoop to his level because he beat Beatrice. Okay?"

The panther sighed in defeat, then said, "You're right Jake. For a fox like you, you don't let anything get to your head that often. Despite what you say, you take it seriously, just not as serious as anyone else it seems. Thank you."

The fox just nodded and took a look at the feline's opponent, who was a red dragoness. He could only chuckle and shake his head, turning to face his opponent and ready himself. A sudden thought jumped into his mind and he turned back to his rival.

"Hey Spencer, I'll get Drake back for beating Beatrice, deal?"

The panther stood stunned before the elevator doors closed in front of him, taking him down to the second dueling platform below. Jake grinned slyly before turning back to the black dragon before him, who had already activated his duel disk. The fox activated his own and prepared his mind for the duel ahead.

"Round 2 fox!" Drake roared as he drew his card, then set his entire hand to the field! The fox stood stunned, then drew his card and looked over his hand. He summoned Red-Eyes B. Chick (ATK/800 DEF/500) and grinned, knowing he had Red Eyes B. Dragon. He special summoned it using his Chick's special ability. He then played Dragon's Gunfire, dealing 800 points of direct damage to Drake, bringing him down to 7200 Life Points. Jake then attacked the dragon's face down monster, sending it to the graveyard easily. Because the dragon's facedown was Scarr, Scout of Dark World, he got to pick a level four Dark World monster in his deck and put it in his hand, then shuffle his deck. The fox set a card and ended his turn.

Drake drew a card and set a monster, obviously putting up a defense for some reason, letting the vulpine draw his card quickly. Jake set a monster and attacked the facedown, destroying it as well. The black dragon activated his Disturbance Strategy, forcing the fox to send his hand to his deck, then shuffle, and draw the same number of cards. The vulpine ended his turn as he saw a dark storm building on the horizon.

"Hm... I suppose we could speed this up a bit, don't you think?" Jake asked politely.

"Got some tail to lay? Not in my lifetime fox!"

"Ugh... Fine you bastard!"

The dragon grinned as he drew his next card. He set both of his cards down and ended his turn, glaring at the fox. Since the only creature he special summoned was Red-Eyes B. Dragon, so he decided to test Drake's defenses. He summoned The Dragon Dwelling in the Cave (ATK/1300 DEF/2000) and was met with Trap Hole. Just as he suspected. The fox special summoned Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, and since there were three dragons in the graveyard, the attack bonus was 900, bringing Darkness Dragon's attack to 3300. He then flip summoned Exiled Forced, and used it's special ability to sacrifice itself to destroy the facedown monster. The vulpine sent his Darkness Dragon to attack, watching in awe as the pitch black, ruby enjeweled dragon sent forth a powerful breath attack to Drake, lowering his Life Points down to 3900. He ended his turn and looked at the dragon.

All Drake did was set a monster and end his turn. The fox drew his one of his favorite monsters and summoned it to the field, bringing forth Dark Blade (ATK/1800 DEF/1500) and sent it to destroy the facedown monster, then did another 3300 points of damage to the unemotional dragon, bringing him down to 600 Life Points. The vulpine ended his turn at that. Growling, the scaled monster drew his next card and looked at it. He summoned Mystic Clown and used his Reinforcements to boost his monster's attack to 2000. The Mystic Clown attacked the fox's Dark Blade and dealt 200 damage, bringing the vulpine's Life Points down to 7800.

Jake yawned and looked at the dragon, who looked back quizzically, "Why are you so relaxed fox?"

"Simple. While, yes, you destroyed one of my monsters and dealt me a small amount of damage, I have a monster well over 600 points difference to yours. Obviously, your other facedown cards aren't useful right now, otherwise you'd use them already. And since that's the case, you already lost, since my Red Eyes Darkness Dragon is still at 3300 attack points. Your Mystic Clown's attack goes down back to it's 1500. That's 1800 points of damage you'd take, and it'd only take a third of that to finish this."

The dragon realized that the vulpine was right, and couldn't do anything else. He ended his turn, rather than surrendering. Jake drew his next card and quickly ended the duel, destroying his Mystic Clown and finishing Drake off, securing him a spot in the finals and bringing Drake back down from beating the wolfess, Beatrice. He went inside before the storm would hit, seeing Spencer already there. He looked like he was happy and looked at the fox with a nod of appreciation.

"You win Spencer?"

"Yep, nice job with Drake."

"Wasn't that hard, beat him before."

They both smiled and shook paws, knowing that as friendly rivals, they'd have to duel each other for the final match and win. Neither of them knew it would be easy, and they relished the challenge. Considering that there was a storm coming, their final duel was averted to the bridge. They walked there and saw everyone there, including Flamewarrior, who nodded at both, the vulpine and the feline, considering them both worthy to join that group of his. They looked at one another and new that every move had to count, otherwise they'd fall.
