An event in a robbery.

Just a short first person account in an event.

'This just can't be happening.' My brain kept screaming, as I stared at the group of masked people that were surrounding me and the group of people in the bank. This sort of thing only happened in the movies. But my brain told me they had to base it on some sort of situation.

"As long as our demands are met, no one will be hurt." Said what seemed to be the head of the gang, cocking his gun. Someone to my left snorted, and I gave her a sideways fearful glance and a 'shoosh'. The man, by the sounds of it, gave the sheep a glance, who glanced down quickly, before the man's eyes shifted to the unconscious clerk to his left. He'd been rendered unconscious by one of the other members, who seemed to be one of the newer members of the group, by the way the head seemed to treat him after his 'enthusiastic' actions in knocking him out.

The man, who looked like some sort of canine, started to walk casually around the group, and I slowly looked up to watch what was happening around us. Which, as it turned out, wasn't a lot. Still a group of about seven people with another unconscious a few feet away, and five masked people. Though we outnumbered them, we definitely wouldn't be able to overpower them as we were, especially without weapons.

I glanced to my right and a little behind, where I saw a mother and child komodo dragon. I tried to give them a smile, but I don't think they saw it as reassuring as I'd intended. The child burrowed into her mother, and the mother hugged and tried to console her. The mother smiled weakly back.

"I'm sorry.." she whispered, cuddling her daughter. I shook my head.

"It's fine, I understand. No need to say sorry." I whispered back, looking around to make sure the gang wasn't listening. The mother nodded slowly as her daughter peeked at me from the space in-between her arm as the mother held her face with a hand. I wave a little at her to try and show I was friendly, and she smiled sheepishly.

"What are you?" the girl asked curiously, but very quietly. I smile.

"I'm a husky. You're a komodo right?" I ask. She nods slowly and her mother smiled.

"I hope you don't mind, we don't get many varieties of canines around here." The mother asked, looking anxious.

"I don't mind her asking, I wish more kids did. Many think I'm some sort of wolf, so I'd rather them ask," I replied, giving the child another smile. "is that what you thought I was?" the child nod slowly again.

"I met a wolf once, he snarled at me and made me scared." The child whispered. I shake my head.

"That wasn't nice was it?" I reply with a frown.

"Oi, quiet." Said one of the leaders lackies as he came closer. I look up at what I believed was a male cat, going by the ears.

"She's just a child, she's scared. We all are." I reply, not sounding as confident as I'd wanted to. My voice was shaking and my right fingers were subconsciously tapping the floor next to me.

"That's not my problem." The man snarled back, and that just made me angry.

"Not your problem?" I retorted, finding the strength to stand up and face him. I heard the little girl whimper behind me and the mother trying to sooth her again. "you and your 'friends' are the ones who's put us in this situation, so it is very much 'your problem'!" and the last thing I saw before everything went black was a blur of movement as I felt something strike my head.

The next thing I knew, I was on my back on the floor, looking up at a wolf.

'I didn't realise there was a wolf here...' I thought groggily, before it caught up to me that I was on the floor, and that the person bending over me was in florescent gear.

"It's alright," he said in a genital but slightly growly voice. It had a slight accent to it that I couldn't quite point. Southern? Northern? My brain tried to pin point it as I tried to look around, but the wolf stopped me with a paw. "please try not to move. We need to make sure if you have a concussion or not."

"Alright." I replied weakly, as I tried to use my ears to gather what was happening around me. I could hear sirens around me, but it seemed to be outside, and the mummer of voices inside. I thought I could hear a crowd outside, but I couldn't be sure due to noise inside.

"So, you obviously spent some time unconscious. Do you have a headache or feel sick?" the paramedic asked me, and it took me a moment to realise what he'd asked, as I was still focusing on the noise around.

"Urmm..." I replied, trying to think as well as catch up on what he said. "it hurts here," I place a hand over a spot on the right side of my head. "and I do feel a little sick and dizzy," The paramedic looked at where I indicated and made a note in a small pad. "what's with the pad?" I asked with a small grin. He gave me a little look and smiled back.

"It helps me to make sure I keep track and remember things," he replied, giving my head another look and making another note. "what do you remember from before?"

"I remember standing up to confront one of the robbers, and then it's blurry and everything going blank." I replied, and he nods as he makes more notes.

"That seems to correlate with what everyone else said." He carried on.

"Do you know what happened.... I don't know your name, sorry." I said.

"It's Zoomie." Zoomie replied with a grin with one corner of his mouth, like he knew what I was going to ask.

"Zoomie?" I asked, trying not to laugh.

"Yeah, it's a nickname. Always dashing around," he replied with a slight laugh. "but it seemed that after what happened with you, the other started to try and fight back. A few minutes later, the police arrived, and then us. It turns out one of the clerks had pressed the panic button without any of the gang finding out."

I almost started to nod, but even the slightest movement made my head hurt, and I tried not to let any sound come out, but a little whimper escaped my lips. Zoomie looked at me with concern.

"Moved my head a little, it really hurt." I explained in a small voice. Zoomie nodded in understanding.

"We're just waiting for the gang to be taken away, then we'll get you into the ambulance. I've just realised, I've not asked you what your name is." Zoomie said, bringing his knees forward so his legs were under his body.

"Zoey....my name's Zoey." I replied, glancing to my right carefully as I watch a stretcher go past with the man who'd been knocked earlier. I only knew it was him due to the long tiger tail I saw draped down the side of the stretcher on the side facing me.

"Well, Zoey," Zoomie said, ripping apart a small packet and taking out a wipe and unfolding it. "this will certainly be one for the grandchildren to know about."

I grinned as he brought the wipe closer and started brushing just to the right of my face, obviously where I'd been hit.

"It certainly will be." I whispered.
