Heh...

It was fairly weird, for him at least, to be feeling something quite like this. Mostly because feeling real emotions even when he wasn't around someone was very unlike him. When he was on his own, even when he was surrounded by his friends he could be calm and collected, cool despite how he would act as if his temperament wasn't so level. All that ruined. Well it wasn't like he was bouncing off the walls or anything or even jumping on some talk show celebrity's couch but he felt strange.

Kyo ran his paw back through his hair, ruffling it up a bit as he let out a long sigh. The coyote wore a black blazer, a white dress shirt beneath, buttoned up all the way, ironed and clean. He was dressed sharply, down to his black slacks (a crease ironed in the middle), the cuffs folded up so they wouldn't drag along the floor as they usually did. He had even polished his rings, toe, ear and those on his paws. If anyone he knew had seen him right then they wouldn't recognize him. His hair was still long and spiky but had a dark sheen to it, he had washed it thoroughly, even had his bangs cut out of his eyes and his ends trimmed.

Groomed down to the ring around his brushed tail, even the two collars around his neck had been cleaned, the silver one gleaming, the leather one looking brand new though he had actually had both for some time.

The coyote looked at himself in the reflection of a glass cabinet with several trinkets in it. Why had he even come in here? Because this store looked like it might have something she would like?

He really had. On his way to work, he had skated along the sidewalk and seen this shop, a small antiques store he was fairly surprised he hadn't noticed before. The coyote had gone inside, the owner of the store making him hand over his board for insurance (apparently the only skaters he had seen were only punks who caused trouble) and Kyo had looked around, noticing several interesting things looking more like they should be in his grandmothers house than anything. But he had thought he could find something she would like, right?

His back curved as he slouched, leaning forward to put his forehead against the glass. What was going on with him?

He thought about the source of his consternation... which made the corners of his lips curl in a smile. No! That shouldn't be happening, something that he was anxious about shouldn't be making him smile. But she was, even without being there she could put butterflies in the pit of his stomach, making his heart flutter.

Kyo lifted his head off of the glass, shaking it in disgust. He couldn't even believe had thought something as wimpy sounding as that. If his skating or head-banging friends knew, let alone his other friends, he wouldn't be able to live it down.

He jammed his paws in his pockets and made for the entrance when suddenly he saw something. Plain and simple, they were a pair of gloves; made of some soft fabric he didn't have a name for (he wasn't that much of a wuss yet that he would know fabrics), made for dainty paws, which she most definitely had. They were perfect, not too flashy (he couldn't afford flashy) and nice, she could most certainly use them with how cold it was starting to get. He grabbed the gloves and took them up to the front counter where the owner of the shop eyed him with a strange look while ringing up the charge.

"It's a gift." He explained.

~*~

Bah, why did he explain it to that guy? He never felt like explaining himself before, why was he now? Too many questions. The gloves were in is pocket along with his paw as he skated along down the sidewalk, not paying much attention to where he was going so much as he was no running into something, his job was in that general direction. He was being silly, why did he buy those gloves? He probably wouldn't even see her that day.

Skating through an intersection, he couldn't help but point out the fact that only four days ago he wasn't feeling like this and he didn't even think about -her- outside of when he spoke to her. For Christ's sake, he was putting emphasis when he thought about -her- in his head. It would be a lot easier to just say her name, Sun, after all he liked saying it enough, it was a pretty name. Fit her, she was pretty herself, she even had a pretty voice.

He stifled a giggle as he hopped from his board and turned towards the door of the skate shop he worked at, putting his paw on the door handle. Ugh, why did she have to be so cute? He was going to break his board over his head if he didn't stop thinking about it.

"Kyo?" His ears twitched and he looked over at the speaker, a white lioness. He hadn't even noticed her but she had to have been standing there the whole time. He saw her often enough, she worked at the flower shop just a block away, illustrating cards to go along with the bouquets to give them a personal feel.

"Hey Sen." He said, smiling as he withdrew his paw from the door and put it behind his head. "Sup?"

"Nothing much, on my way to work, how about yourself? Something... funny?" Great, she -had- seen him.

"Nah, was just thinking." He grabbed his board, then tossed it inside without much thought. "Mind if I walk with ya to work?"

~*~

"Well I think it's cute." She said and he could hear her smile from his position laying on the counter by the register, staring up at the ceiling. They were in a flower shop, fairly small, aisles lined with long tables, on top of which were beautiful flowers and luscious plants. It smelled good in the shop and it was bright, all the light provided by the big windows at the front, Sentai had it arranged so the plants which needed more sunlight were closest to the front and those which needed the least were in the back.

"Yeah, well I'm not trying to be cute Sen. Tell me not to love her." He groaned and closed his eyes, hearing her move in front of him, the coyote lifting a footpaw to poke her stomach.

She gave a small squeak at that and then smiled even more. "No way, you're too cute. You should be glad."

He sat up quickly, his paws hanging between his legs as he gave a yawn. "Yeah right, I have an image to maintain." He looked at her, she was pretty too, pale fur and at the moment she wore a dark green shirt, sleeveless, showing off slender arms which matched her figure, and a pair of jeans, dirt already on the knees. Though at the moment he couldn't really compare her to -her-, err, Sun.

It's not even like he was in love with her. He hadn't even really known her more than maybe two weeks. Hell, he really didn't have feelings for her before maybe three or so days before.

Okay, that was a lie. He was having feelings but at least then he could control them. "I still don't understand though. So you say that you're both falling for each other, why aren't you mates? I'd think you'd already be mated with her, I've seen you with... well, let's just say I don't know what you'd see in them." Mmmhmm, yeah, he had, had numerous relationships (not all of them with the best of females) before so he wasn't new to all that.

He sighed dreamily. "I haven't asked her yet. She wants to take it slow and I can wait. That's one of the things about her I like so much... I've never had anyone who was like that before. And I've never been so willing to wait either." She laughed and shook her head as he sprung off the counter, looking at the ground. "Is there something wrong with me Sen?" He could say these things to Sen and ask her because she knew what love felt like, he trusted her.

"No Kyo," She shook her head. "you're just in love."

"I wouldn't go -that- far but sure, I'm falling for her." He gave the lioness a hug, then stepped away. He felt so confused though, he was already changing his appearance to impress her and she hadn't even said anything. What if he kept changing and he changed into someone she didn't like? Then it would be for nothing and he'd have lost her. He took a deep breath, telling himself to calm down and stop worrying and stop changing. "Alright Sen, I'll catch you laters, gotta run to work."

"Bye Kyo."

~*~

Sen was sweet but she couldn't be right. He couldn't be in love... ARRG! He switched the song that had just come on his ipod. What were the chances a love song would come on? To be honest... he didn't know much about her, he knew more than any other guy...(that was to be expected with the things they had done) and he knew she felt -something- for him too (he wasn't sure if she was feeling like he was), but really, he hardly knew what it was that he was feeling. She just made him smile. Not the smirk he often wore, a typical expression for him but she really made him smile. On the inside.

His board was still where he had tossed it when he walked inside the skate shop.

Checkerboard floor, long glass counter to his right (with an array of wheels and trucks below the glass) and several decks hanging on the wall behind the counter. To his left were racks with clothes and a few racks with shoes, all skaters things though they also sold clothes that didn't necessarily fit into that genre and were more "hardcore" per say. He flipped his board right side up with a footpaw and hopped on it, manualling to the back of the store, the coyote balancing on the two back wheels of his board. The coyote hopped off the board and kicked the tail, popping it up into his waiting paw. Sitting his board on a pair of hooks he then proceeded to hop over the counter, plopping in a blue chair with wheels at the base of each leg. He kicked his way behind a register and tilted his head back, closing his eyes.

~*~

Work got a bit tougher after that of course, when the first customers came in, rookies who bought boards, then came in minutes later complaining that their boards were broken because they couldn't ollie. After explaining that the trucks and wheels had to be -attached- for any real skating to be done the coyote showed them how to put their boards to use, flatlanding as well as he could inside the store. Front to back manuals followed by a Casper put awe in the faces of the youths. Not that he was that old himself, but these particular customers happened to be adolescent.

Kyo himself was perhaps in his late teens most would surmise when looking at him but was just a bit older, riding the border between nineteen and twenty. He might actually look his age if he got a proper haircut and didn't dress like a punk the majority of the time.

This day was probably the exception to the rule, the reason the kids had thought he couldn't skate, fairly nice compared to how he would usually look. He didn't know why he had even dressed like that, Sun didn't know where he worked and he didn't know where she did so chances were he wouldn't run into her on the job but one never knew.

Around two hours after Kyo had shown up his least favorite coworker showed up, the wolf bouncing in his wheelchair to some loud rap song, probably Lil' Wayne. Kyo had no problem with rap, he liked it a lot, but Lil' Wayne just made him want to break something.

The wolf was handicapped with legs that were turned at awkward positions, not that he could tell not being able to feel them and all (hence Kyo's nickname for him). Of course Kyo might've been nice to the limited individual if he was an ordinary caring coyote but he wasn't. Personally Kyo had seen the crippled wolf as a dick and a jerk who only used his handicap to get ahead by playing the victim constantly while he then was a jerk to everyone else, demanding everything he handed down to him and such. So, to balance out karma and not allow the wolf to pass through the world unscathed while committing such wrongs Kyo saw it fit to make fun of the wolf although he was often called a jerk for doing so. These were of course (as Kyo called them) cripple sympathizers who only saw him as a cripple who needed to be given special rights when Kyo himself was only being fair and as equal as he would be to a jerk who could walk.

Or that was how he reasoned it. Maybe he was just a dick.

"Hey Crazy Legs." He said to the wolf when the song had gone off.

The wolf, wearing a pair of cargo pants (one couldn't help but wonder how he got them on) and a large Elemental t-shirt, made a face, then put up a middle finger in Kyo's direction.

"Aww that was a nice comeback Crazy Legs. Kinda. Well I'll give you credit for -trying- to stand up for yourself even though we both know that's not gonna happen any time soon."

The wolf growled lowly, then wheeled himself to the back of the store. Okay, maybe that was unwarranted but he knew the wolf would probably do something back to him later, pull a hit-and-run most likely.

~*~

Kyo rubbed his leg where the tire had run over him. Jeeze, he really hadn't been expecting that right then. Got him right before lunch break too. And look at that! He had a narrow dirt tread on his black slacks. Sonofa... he would probably give him a dead leg later just to say he had in a condescending way. He always had a thing, he could be the nicest guy in the world, easy to get along with, he was friends with almost everyone he knew. Not a single bad thing about him the majority of the time, but when he was mean, he was cold. His mean streak was as black as the black streak of burnt fur crossing his back (from left shoulder down to his right hip). He had made the few he was ever mad at cry at one point or another and was pretty much apathetic to their sadness.

But of course that was only one side of him, something that wasn't even in play at the moment so there was no point in dwelling on it. He put his paws behind his head, thinking. The coyote had left his board inside the shop, he would probably walk down to the café and get a burger. He was starved.

Jamming his paws in his pockets he sauntered down the sidewalk, his spine curved in the slack posture he always carried himself with, looking as if he should be leaning against something. His steps were a bit off though and anyone who hadn't known him would have thought he was drunk, he always walked like a sailor who hadn't gotten used to life on a surface that wasn't constantly moving, his movements erratic yet smooth, it wasn't like he jerked around a lot, it was at a polished deliberate pace.

He rounded a corner, then walked into the café, yawning loudly as he opened the door, the ringing of a bell announcing his entrance. It wasn't empty but average at an average population though he had often seen it get much more crowded. There were around eight furs in the café at the time, a random assortment, he had seen most of them around before and said hey to them at different times. Sen was sitting at a table with a coffee, sketching in a large book. She had looked up to wave and then set back upon her work, diligently marking with her pencil. A nice café, it was fairly large, a few couches along some of the walls, a counter along the back wall with a menu above it and a kitchen further back. Tables with a few chairs around them were placed sporadically, it wasn't as if someone had taken a lot of thought in creating the place.

Bright, it was lit by fluorescent lights despite the large windows at the front allowing plenty of light for this time of day.

Most of the furs were on the couches, Sen was at a table but she was working. There was another table occupied by two furs talking in hushed voices but suddenly they didn't matter any more because of who he saw sitting on a stool at the counter. -Her-.

His heart skipped a beat when he saw her, something that made him curse lowly even though his tail started wagging quickly at the same time. He stilled the motion, an act of willpower, then slowly walked over. She wasn't facing him, had something on the counter that she ate so he approached, thinking of what exactly he would say. Before he knew it he had sat in the stool beside her and he still had no idea what to say. The skater punk glanced over at the feline, her eyes (the prettiest shade of blue he had ever seen) looking at his (a much less pretty black) from beneath long lashes.

"Hey.." He said simply. He didn't stammer though he felt a bit.. off. He never had, that was the weird thing, he always felt comfortable so there was no problem saying anything. She had talked about plenty with him and even told him she wasn't the type to be possessive and fight over him (even though he might've liked her to).

"Hey." She said, soft (he knew from experience that they were) lips parting to let the word escape her maw, the edges curling in a smile. Her long tail waving behind her, much more graceful than the frantic movements of his own, what he would have given for a cat's tail.

He fidgeted for a moment, then took a breath, it was weird around her. Sometimes he would feel nervous and other times he would be perfectly comfortable by her, which was actually something he enjoyed. She brought out feelings in him he didn't understand. "How's it goin'?" He asked finally, turning to her in his seat. He leaned back to relax but nearly fell, having to catch himself when he realized there was no back to the stool.

She giggled at that. "It's going fine Kyo, I'm feeling much better today." She said, speaking of the previous day, which hadn't been one of her best, or so she had told him.

"I'm glad.." Suddenly a grin split his lips. "It's probably because of me though. You know I'm good like that." The coyote stuck out his tongue playfully, then retracted it as he leaned forward to kiss her cheek, his ears flushing with warmth when he pulled back.

He saw her blush too; they hadn't ever shown any display of affection in public. Actually she tended to poke fun at him when everyone was around and he was okay with it because he joked around himself. She hadn't wanted to seem like just another one of his fucks when they had first hooked up (they had gone to a place of her choice but made sure no one had known) which she wasn't to him but still, one could understand her concern when they saw how many females Kyo "associated" with.

It was kind of funny. She had called them a harem. "I don't want to be part of your harem Kyo." She had said.

So they had been fairly private. The most one might suspect would be that they were secretly friends during the times they were warm towards each other. But this was perhaps one of the first chances that anyone might've seen them together and figured anything was going on. "Yeah, I do know." She took his paw and led him away from the counter over to one of the couches where she pushed him over, then plopped in his lap, resting on top of him. His arms almost instinctively went around her, paws lacing at the small of her back and she nuzzled him gently. It felt right being with her. Her paws were on his shoulders, gently kneading and massaging as they rested there, his own paws drumming at the small of her back, the pads of his fingers moving along her spine through her pale yellow tank top.

"You dressed nice today." She pointed out, wrinkling her nose a bit before smiling.

"Yea, I figured you'd like it." He grins, putting his nose to hers for a moment, not even bothering to kiss her before dropping back, his head resting on the soft cushions of the couch.

"I like my coyote however he dresses." Was her response, something that might've made him swoon if he was standing. He never told her but he loved it when she called him hers. It wasn't in the way that anyone else would like to put him down or call him property but in a loving way.

"Awww, well I just happen to like how you dress too. So you get off lucky today." The coyote winked with a grin. He actually did like how she dressed most of the time. He liked her in the clothes she wore as much as she did. In that way (among several) they thought alike. She wore a white skirt which was a respectable length and her tank top, a denim jacket resting on the back of her seat where she sat before. It was a good thing that the day was nice of she might've been cold.

"Whew, because you know I was worried about what you might think of my wardrobe when I picked it out this morning." Sun smiled sweetly, curling a bit more in his lap. One of his paws wandered up to one of her pointed ears, trailing his claws up and down the edges up and down her ear before two of his claws spread at the base, traveling in small circles, barely sliding over her skin. She shivered, something he had hoped would happen.

"Wooh, you cold?" He smiled, reaching in his pocket to pull out the pair of gloves he had bought for her earlier. "Good thing I got ya these I guess."

"Aww.." She took them in her paw, looking at them with her smile more evident in her sweet voice than in anything else. "You didn't have to."

"I didn't. They were supposed to be for me." Kyo stuck his tongue out teasingly. "But they shrunk in the wash and no one else wanted em."

"Oh well, one yote's trash is another kitty's treasure." She kissed his lips softly, making his muzzle flush with warmth.

"I would have gotten something nicer but I didn't want you to get the idea I was made of money."

"I think I would have hit you over the head if you had gotten something expensive."

"Ah, then I guess I better not pull out what's in my other pocket." He gave a wry grin, revealing the tips of his white fangs.

She raised her paw, putting a finger to the tip of his prominent fang with a smile. "I guess not.."

They had a date that night. Well not really a date, it wasn't like they were going out or anything. It would only be their third time going out, their first if one included actual going "out". The other times were times when they had stayed together at places of her choice. And no, they hadn't been together either of those times despite what it looked like... though they had done things before. It just had been more impromptu.

"I've got a funny sense of déjà vu." He said, shifting his weight onto his other footpaw. He stood outside the café again, it was night, dark out then and he could see his breath though he wasn't particularly cold. He had been in worse places.

"Hmm?" He turned quickly, shocked to see Sun standing there with a curious expression on her face.

His ears flushed with warmth and he scratched the back of his head while letting out an uncomfortable laugh. "Sorry, was thinking out loud. So how was the rest of your day?" He glanced her up and down. She wore a pair of dark jeans and a light pink sweater beneath her blue jean jacket. On her paws were the gloves he had given her and around her neck was a pink scarf that matched them.

"It was fine, thanks." She moved closer to him, putting her arms around one of his to press close to his side, closing her eyes. "Had another conversation with our friend. She keeps inviting me to that club." He knew what club. It was one he frequented and enjoyed but Sun didn't strangely. She hadn't had the best experience there before he knew her so that explained it well enough. Their friend was one he knew from the club but she had known before that. "And we talked about you."

"Oh?" his ears perked up at that and they began walking, two sources of warmth in the cold night. "What'd she say about me?"

The feline hugged him close, her tail flicking around his waist as they continued moving. "She said you were one of the cool guys there and you were all right in her opinion."

"Ha, just alright?" He chuckled.

"Yep, and then we continued with our conversation until somehow we ended up making out.'

"Hawt." He said, pronouncing it as such.

She put her paw on the canines stomach, stroking through the red hoodie he now wore. (strangely he had dressed more casually for their date than anything else) "So you enjoy things like that? The thought of a girl touching another girl?"

"Yeah, but I figure that's because that's what everyone says is awesome. I mean, what's the fun if you can't join in? Even then I like to focus on one girl... Personally I like being touched just fine and it's even better when it's you doing it."

She blushed, very subtle with it, one could hardly notice unless they were as close as he was. "You shouldn't say things like that, it makes me want to be your girlfriend."

"Something wrong with that?" He looked away from her, his gaze drifting towards the street as they traveled down the sidewalk. "Would you say no if I asked."

"Dunno." She replied simply. And they left it at that, walking along in silence for a while.

"Had some pumpkin pie earlier." Kyo said when the silence had grown into a deafening roar. "Love sweets.. Skittles are your favorite, right?"

"Yeah." She laughed. "Going down on someone would be a lot easier if they tasted like skittles."

"Ha, now I know what -you've- been thinking about." He teased, kissing her cheek, having to crouch mid step to do so.

"It's not my fault. Just because I don't do things often doesn't mean I'm not a closet perv at times."

"Mmhmm, I'm curious about this pervy side of yours."

"I bet you are, you'd be the only one to see anything from it in a long time. Speaking of, how was your friend earlier? I'm glad I at least don't smell her on you now." He looked back over to her to see she was looking in the opposite direction like he had before.

"She was fine even though we didn't do anything. I'd rather be with you..." She was speaking of Iaz, who had pretty much pounced him when he left the café, ending any chance of more time with Sun who of course wasn't the jealous type or the type to compete for his attention. "Jeeze, it's not like I do it -that- much."

"Oh really? Don't' worry Kyo, I know you're a whore."

"I'm not!" He replied indignantly. "I don't do it that much! Really."

"Well how much do you do it then?" She asked, her voice calm and casual.

"Whah? It's not like... a number..." he said even though it was. He had set himself up for this one. "Like out of when?" Even though any time period probably wouldn't give an answer she would like.

"Well what about this week?"

It was Friday. "Well this week was kinda weird... but twice I think. No wait... er, three times, twice was with the same girl.."

"I'm not the type to be jealous Kyo but that really does make me wonder how you can call me special."

"Because it's like... different."

"You aren't with me twice a week." She turned her gaze back to him, looking in his eyes as they halted at an intersection.

"It's not cause of what's different physically, emotionally." He put his paw over his heart to signal what he meant. "As for being with you, I would but you said you're not in the mood often." He stuck his tongue out playfully, hoping to generate a chuckle.

~~~~~~~~
She blinked.
~~~~~~~~

Then walked across the intersection briskly leaving him at the other side. "Hey wait!" He said, beginning to walk after her before a wave of speeding vehicles stopped him. She kept walking so he was forced to shout after her. "Wait! What I meant by that is that it's different being with you, that's why it's so amazing my heart skips a beat when we kiss. I didn't mean to say anything wrong." When the traffic had cleared for a bit he darted through the street, narrowly avoiding a hummer until he caught up with Sun, moving in front of her to stop her progression. "Wait..." He breathed. "What I meant was that I didn't want to pressure you to yiff or do anything you felt uncomfortable with."

"Kyo." She put a paw on his chest, staring in his eyes, her own shimmering. He hadn't meant to hurt her and he opened his mouth to say so just as she continued. "I care about you but I'm not sure if I can trust you..."

"Wait." He said but he was cut off as her phone vibrated in her pocket, a loud buzzing noise.

"I have to take this." She said, pulling out the cell phone and turning her back on him as she flicked it open. The feline walked a few paces away from him, leaving him standing there. What had he done? He never should have said anything.

"I know you could trust me if you gave me a chance." Kyo told her despite the fact that she was talking with whoever was on the phone in a hushed tone. "If it bothers you that much I could change for you Sun because I care, I'd never want to hurt you and I never would." Slowly walking behind her, he took the phone out of her grasp (not that she put up much of a fight) closing it and ending the call before handing it back.

"I just think I couldn't satisfy you Kyo and you'd end up just needing something to screw."

He shook his head vehemently. "No! It's not like that with you. That's what makes it so great, I can wait with you. The physical things come second..." It was all spilling out now, his feelings for her and he wasn't getting any in return.

"I don't know about this Kyo.. I just.. don't know. This just feels like something that will hurt me and I don't wanna be hurt again."

What did he have to do to prove it to her? Why couldn't she even give him a chance? Was she even listening, he was almost on his knees begging for her to not end something that hadn't even started yet. "Fine..." He looked at his footpaws for a while. "I just want you to be happy. And I thought... I -knew- we could be happy together but if you don't want that, fine by me."

It was his turn to walk away from her, pulling up his hood. He heard her call after him but kept walking, taking a breath to keep any more feelings from spilling out.

~*~

Agitated.

Couldn't sit still.

Kyo shifted in his seat. Seemed like no position was comfortable for him now. Something was bothering him.

But why'd he say -something-? As if he didn't know what it was.

His paws were shaking. If he raised them and looked at them closely he could see them tremble down to his digits. Just a side effect of all the energy that just seemed to be filling him. He hadn't gotten any sleep the other night but he still wasn't tired. Damn Sun, she was still on his mind.

She had already said nothing would ever happen between them, why was he wasting energy thinking about her?

Why couldn't he get those blue eyes out of his mind? Her soft fur, her sweet fragrance... The cute way she giggled, the sensation of her slender body beneath his as they made love..

"Bah!" He growled, shutting his eyes. Harder to shut out the images that floated through his mind though. He sat in a chair at a café by the club he frequented, his footpaw tapping the floor rapidly, claws digging into the armrests. He needed something loud and angry but the club never played that hard of music, mostly trance and techno with a bit of rock thrown in.

They were usually towards peace in clubs and headbanging music didn't usually have a peaceful effect on its listeners. He had been banned for a few weeks at a time when he had been discovered fighting there.

His paw almost drifted towards his phone but he knew she wouldn't pick up even if he did have her number. That was right, he was feeling something for someone he couldn't even contact whenever he wanted.

She wanted to go slow so that's what they did. They saw each other often enough that they didn't need numbers. It was just times like this that he had felt like leaving a message even though he really didn't like phone conversations, preferred face to face. He had done so much, spray painted a mural, skated his ass off, sketched numerous drawings, written, gotten into a few fights but he couldn't sleep and he was still agitated. He needed to move, to go to her.

At the moment he happened to be thinking of how he could have not screwed up. Sometimes it was better to not say anything.

~*~

He saw her at the café the next day. His hair was a mess, more of one than normal, he still hadn't gotten much sleep. He wore his red hoodie again and sat at a table, sketching furiously. Nothing was getting out all this... whatever it was he was feeling. Normally he'd go to Sen but he didn't want to keep bothering her with his love life, she had enough problems of her own.

The bell at the door rang, signaling someone else had entered. His eyes flicked away from his sketch for a moment and he saw her standing at the door. Her eyes were locked on his and she just stood there, looking at him for what seemed like forever. The coyote dropped his gaze but didn't continue sketching, looking at the table.

He closed his eyes, trying to tune out the world. The bell rang again and wordlessly Kyo rose and walked out after her again.

~*~

"It was a joke! I was playing around, please believe me." Kyo pleaded. It was perhaps a week later and they had gotten together. Was this the second time or the first? Was that together before? Well whatever time this was they were already in trouble of breaking up.

"I heard what you said to her Kyo." She told him. It was cold, crisp outside. He could see her breath in the air as she spoke, her words making him feel colder than the actual temperature.

"But I told you I was playing. If you knew me an Dem you'd know we're not like that together. I was just messing around with her." She wore black, perfect for the mood he was beginning to be put in by her words. Black sweater, jeans, belt.

"Kyo... I'm not a jealous girl. But seeing you say those kinds of things to her... makes me wonder if I can really trust you. You're always in that damn club flirting around instead of with me when you say you care.. I always have to get Ki to go get you."

"I didn't know you were around, I thought you were still at work. I swear I'll never say anything to anyone else like that again."

"Next time you'll just know better and won't get caught."

The coyote shook his head vehemently and stepped closer, reaching out with a paw she avoided by stepping back. "But the things I said to her, they didn't mean anything, not compared to what I've said to you."

She looked at him skeptically, her eyes seeming to bore into his heart. "Because... it's just... different." She didn't respond. "Because... I'm afraid to say it because... it might scare you off."

"Just say it Kyo."

"The things I say to her, or anyone for that matter... They don't mean anything. They aren't worth half the value of the things I say to you because... everything I say to you comes from..." He put a paw on his chest, struggling for the words. "Here, my... heart. You can say you don't feel the same way if you don't because if you don't I've been in the same position you have more than a dozen times... It's because I don't care about them like I care about you... I -love- you."

~She stared.~ And stared. And stared. The staring began to hurt and he wondered if she would ever say anything when suddenly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I can't do this any more."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Huh?" He stared right on back dumbly.

"I can't do -this- any more." She shook her head, turning away. "this whole thing. It was sweet and nice at first when it was innocent like that but now you're being serious and I.. I just can't do this. This will hurt, I know it. I can't trust you Kyo."

*************

We'll see where this goes... I placed emphasis on some of her words with ~~ so... yeah....
