Alright, took me a while to write this since i was busy with life-events, but I hope you enjoy. nothing much else to say.

Fluttering his wings, King Selana walked with heavy footsteps, his size illustrating great power. A decorated crown, made from small branches and a array of colors form various tribes of birds, and some patches of fur from close allies. The crown was to symbol their alliances, and the more decorated it was, the more power the king had. His chest was a clean white with a diamond shaped plumage that was a light grey. His wings spanned a distance large enough to hold a fully grown hawk helpless in each of his thick wings. On his back was a majestic yellow, shimmering with dew from the morning.

The small shelter made from thick bushes and tightly packed trees marked his home. A large perch high above gave a clear view of the entire tribe and more. King Selana clawed at the soft soil with sharp talons that had the capability to snap spines with the slightest motion. As strong as his body was, his voice was just as in his head. Now what shall I do? My sole son is not ready for the throne. Much too young to do that.

Wingbeats came down behind King Selena, a hawk that was large among his own, but looked as a mear newborn when next to the Eagle that was their king. A proud voice became humble as the hawk approached the king. He rested his right wing near the eagle's neck. "My king." He staed, his head facing downwards for a moment."Many of the tribe as well as our allies are wondering who will be put in your position when you leave. I mean nothing bad in this, but your time is almost out, and for knowing you all my life I know you understand."

King Selana turned his head, opening up his wing for the smaller figure. With almost nerve racking softness, he spoke to the hawk under his wing. "My dear Volch, you do speak the truth. I know I am going to die soon. My time is quite short. But that isn't what ails me lately. My son."

Volch looked up at the eagle's eyes. "I am training him well, he will be a strong warrior. By the harvest moon he will be as great of a figure as yourself."

A sharp change in tone rose breifly and then setled back down. "No! It is not that! I know you are treating him as your own flesh and blood, but that is not what this is about. He is too young to rule. Which that is where you come into play." King Selana began to walk forwards, his wing dropping back in a resting position. Gentle movements with his feet lead him to a small look out into the small tribe, watching for a few individuals to get further away. His voice became stern. "Listen Volch. I have a large favor to ask of you before my time is out. Can you promise me this? My son, while he is not old enough to be a king, you are. I would like for you to be my successor, and when my son is of leagal age, he is to take the throne. Until then it will be yours."

Volch seemed to freeze in joy, as well as blush heavily beneith his feathers. "I. I don't know what to say to all this my king. I promise that once your son is of age he will take the throne. However this is just so sudden." He bowed low, his head touching the floor.

"Volch, no need for that. You inspire those around you and can even motivate a newborn to take flight for the first time. You have the ability. Add in the ten or so harvest moon cycles and you have more than enough experience and my complete confidence to be a King." King Selana lowered his large frame, using his wings to lift the crown from his head. "Now stand for me Volch we have preparations to make." He set the crown on Volch's head, the crown barely fitting. "May be a problem my friend. But that is for you to fix." He cawed in a shrill voice as he laughed. He placed the crown back on his head. "Now come."

The two walked forwards in a slow pace. Heading towards the outskirts of the village. King selana looked down, streatching his left wing out. It was soon filled with Volch's body. A quiet voice came from the king. "Volch, listen to me please. You are the closest thing I had to a friend here. Not out of fear or indebtness, but an honest friend. Lately things have been uneasy with relations. We have expanded, but our exhiles. Bring them back before we sever the ties that bind us as one. Not to mention the fox you brought in. She did a good deed, yet you sentennced her to death. Hope you realize that we must right this, as it is going to come back and hit us harder than a great famine." He spread his wings out wide., and looked back down. "I will be leaving at sunrise tomorrow. I give you my blessing. Lead with a double mind, lead them though the bad times, prolong the good. I can only hope to right some of my wrongs and hope some accept my appologies. Only for your future." He flapped his mighty wings and began to soar into the air, quickly turning back into the village.

Volch only did little besides watch his dear friend take off into the air. A sight he may not see again. Though a dark smile rose on his cheeks as he stood their motionless. I will take the trhone as promised, and I will make sure the exhiles are taken care of.Though that fox will cause problems if she is allowed to tell to their allies what happened.

King Selana tilted his tail feathers to the side, allowing for a wide turn to result. He circled down, flutting his wings in quick short bursts to slow his fall. This he did softly, his body cushioning the impact and dampening the sound. He had landed behind the trapped fox. One step forwards, slow and cautious. Another step brought forth a new wave of readyness for any movement.

A quick turn, near a half circle jump caused Mariana to face the new figure. Her voice matched her mindset, angry filled with hate, and a hint of sorrow. "Not another step bird! Because of you I have been trapped here for trying to help save one of your little eggs." She bared her teeth, ready to snap at any part of the eagle that came near. "Why do you come here? Going to finish the job, or are you here to take the last part of my dignity?"

He drew closer to the fox. Gradual motions as he bowed. He humbly spoke. "Fox, I am sorry for what happened to you. I could only." His voice was cut short.

She gave a feirce growl at him. "Sorry? Why your crown has a piece of my fur on it. How are you sorry?"

He looked at her calmly as he rose back up. "This was not the work of me, but of Volch. He is to be my successor for a harvest moon cycle and then my son will be taking his spot. I am unsure if you have meet him. His name is Tarrik. Now listen, I am going to let you out, under the circumstance you don't attack me from ill feelings. I did nothing about this because Volch will have to deal with any relations and problems he has caused as I am to leave in the sunrise."

Marianna gradually relaxed her stance. While she did not want to trust him, he was the answer to the silent hopes of getting out of the bindings. " Alright. Do it. But I have a question for you. Why do all this? You are risking more than what you may think when you let me free."

King Selana stepped next to her. He spoke softly near her ear. " I wish to right some of my wrongs. Word will spread and I hope my actions that I do before I die can help prevent something terrible. Assuming I get to that point of course. Several creatures of this forest would relish in plucking out every last feather of mine and letting the insects eat at me while I am still alive." His sharp curved beak looped in the brace around her neck. He bit down hard, searing through the thick rope. He moved for a breif moment. "Head towards the direction of the setting sun. You will come across an old friend of mine. Skaleon. Though hold the s or he may be even more wary about you." His head went down to his wing, he silently pulled out a bright yellow feather that was undoubtly that of an eagle's. His voice held a pinge of pain. "Give this to him. He will give you entry. Please, talk to him as he can help you. Though you still may not enjoy the food there. Stong treaties as no being is allowed to even try to eat another. Call it ironic when you see him. Even moreso that we were once childhood friends, of course in secret."

Mariana could only be dumbfounded as the a simple motion of kindness seemed to impact her. While she could have easily sank her teeth into his neck and enjoy eating him for what had happened to her, she could only imagine how it must be in his situation. "I don't know how to respond to this. It is just different from the past week that I was put through. And why should I see this skaleon? How can he help me?"

As King Selana broke the last rope, he placed the feather at her tail, using the rope to fasten it before she could react. "Because, he can help to fix what happened with Volch. And he can help make sure my son takes the throne when the time comes. Volch won't hurt him as Skaleon was the one to helped cure an illness that he contacted as a child and he is an easy to remember caretaker. Now go."

Marianna walked slowly at first, looking back, and then running off to where the sun would set. Her body quickly tireing from exhaustion. Slowing to a walk, the fox followed an empty trail to find an unknown creature, with a feather stuck to her tail. It seemed worse than it should have even though it should have brought a heavy smile on her face.
