#14 of All They Knew

A lazy day is ended with a scarlet view.

The remainder of the day was indolent. Skye had been traveling all over Sinnoh with Ruki over just a few days, and they would be right back out tomorrow. Skye needed a break.

They lied in bed together until it began to come upon early evening, just as the sun began to set. Skye rested on her back, Ruki curled up beside her body in a light sleep. She was quite tired of staying inside already. Skye wasn't made to be lazy. She was more of a social person that loved to be outdoors. "Ruk'..." she whispered and placed her hand on his upper back.

He was brought out of his nap by her voice alone, and he yawned while lifting his head to sleepily look at her. Ruki was just as social alongside being a very curious individual.

"You wanna go watch the sunset?" she asked, slowly rubbing his back. "We've been in here all day."

"Ni," he replied enthusiastically and sat up to stretch his limbs.

"Okay, come on, it's setting as we speak." Skye stood up, wiping down her t-shirt and slipping into her white socks and shoes. She waited until Ruki hopped down and met her at the door to open it and step outside into the lukewarm air. There were only a handful of other trainers and their pokémon outside on the grounds.

Ruki glanced at each one, intrigued, but he wasn't that interested. He wanted to spend time with his trainer. He followed her as she left the courtyard and passed through the hotel's lobby, watching Skye push open its door to be greeted by a rich scarlet sky above the sea. The setting sun sheeted the surface of the ocean ahead with a warm layer. It was a breathtaking sight.

"Wow," Skye muttered and began to quickly walk toward it while glancing back to ensure Ruki was keeping up. She stopped just before the route turned into a sandy beach, shaking off her shoes and pulling her white socks off. "Just a bit further," Skye assured and walked about half of a mile out into the silky terrain. That's when she sat down on her knees and stared ahead at the rocking waves under the hazy sunlight. "Come, baby."

Ruki had initially sat beside her, but Skye had other plans. He stood up and let her guide him in front of her, where she sat him in the sand.

Skye moved forward and somewhat straddled his hips with her knees and thighs, embracing his furry chest with her arms and leaning her chin atop his head while keeping her eyes on the sky. She'd seen sunsets of the like in Alola, but this wasn't Alola, it was Sinnoh. "It's so pretty," she spoke softly.

His right ear twitched upon hearing her angelic voice so closely. Ruki gazed at the smooth waves as they washed up onto the shore. It was sightly, but he mainly felt grateful to be watching it with Skye. He leaned back against her chest, indulging in her warm hold.

She pulled him against her body, hugging him rather firmly. "Love you," she whispered, giving his head a light kiss.

They stayed in that spot for just a few minutes after nightfall started to take over, the environment growing cooler as a result. "Wanna go back inside? It may get chillier," she asked, releasing him and leaning back some.

"Nine," he replied while standing up to face her.

"All right, come on, baby." Skye stood up as well while stretching her legs and wiping sand away that had stuck to her knees. She began walking across the sand and back toward the hotel grounds while Ruki trotted beside her. That was what she'd wanted, to spend time strengthening their bond together through wholesome experiences. That brought her additional guilt from their recent sexual acts, but it wasn't like Skye was using him for her pleasure. It was mutual, very mutual. She slipped her shoes and socks back on once they got to the route's path by the Grand Lake.

The moment they got back inside of the suite, Ruki immediately hopped up onto the bed and sat down.

"Noo, Ruki," Skye whined upon catching sight of him after closing the front door. She noticed him tense up while staring at her with worried eyes, oblivious as to what he did wrong. "You'll get sand all over the bed. You probably did already." She stepped over and ran her hand over the area around where he was sitting, and sure enough, she felt loose sand particles on the blanket. "Ugh, off, Ruki."

He obeyed, sheepishly stepping down from the bed and watching her wipe the blanket off thoroughly.

She glanced down at him once she was done and saw the ashamed look in his eyes. It wasn't that serious. Skye tended to overreact over situations when she shouldn't. "Sorry... come here, baby." She sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed. Skye watched him slowly approach and helped guide his upper half onto her lap. "It wasn't a big deal, Ruki. I shouldn't have made such a fuss about it." She brought her right hand up to his cheek and gently caressed it with her thumb, grinning. "Ready for tomorrow?"

He looked up at her face and nodded, his expression softer.

"I am too. Let's try to get some sleep then, hm?" She kicked her shoes off and leaned down to kiss his nose. "But go shake out your paws and tails first, or else you're getting another bath."
