#10 of All They Knew

After leaving Ella and Sunyshore City behind, Skye plans ahead with her suite neighbor.

Ella's house was up north in Sunyshore, a cozy one-story residence with a bedroom, small kitchen, and a bathroom.

"Cute place," Skye looked around her friend's home from the living room and sat on her couch. She groaned while stretching her arms out across the cushion. "I miss having one of these."

"Where're you staying?" Ella brought Skye a bottle of water from the kitchen and sat next to her. Her luxray sat by her feet on the floor.

"The Grand Lake Hotel over by Route 213. Ruki and I have a cozy suite; it just doesn't have much to it," she replied while taking a few sips of her water.

Ruki felt the same way; that's why he was exploring Ella's residence while they were busy talking. The walls in her room were blue; the blanket on her bed was blue. Ella really liked blue.

"Should've told me you were coming sooner, Skye. I would have let you stay with me," Ella said while placing her hand atop Lustri's head.

"I know, I guess I was just nervous about my first time leaving home. There was a lot I didn't think about," Skye replied.

"You're doing good, missy. Maybe you'll find a region to move to one day."

Skye nodded, "that's probably my next step. I'd have to get accustomed to being purely independent, though."

"Well, you don't have to tonight, hun, you hungry?"

She grinned, "maybe, why?"

"Because you and Ruki are having lunch here," Ella told her and got up to go to the kitchen.

Skye followed behind. "Well, let me help, at least!"

As evening approached, Skye had finished up at Ella's house and was heading back to Route 213 with Ruki. "She's amazing, isn't she, Ruki? I miss her already."

Ella was quite something. Ruki saw her as a hyped-up version of Skye, colors, and all.

Fortunately, Sunyshore was close to the hotel grounds. Skye didn't want her body to physically tire out before the day ended this time. They made it back to Grand Lake in about fifteen minutes. "Here we are," she said as they entered the courtyard. She still had to bring Aaron a few items from their large meal that would go to waste otherwise. Ruki could most likely eat all of it, but Skye didn't want to fatten him up.

He entered the suite behind her and watched her stand in the middle of the room in apparent thought.

"I want to rest first, but I know I'll end up falling asleep. I'll just go to Aaron," Skye said and began taking a select few small plastic containers from inside of the bag. "I'll be right back," she told Ruki after gathering everything. Her arms and left hand were full, but her right was free, and she used it to open the door. With a firm hold on the containers, she walked over to his door and leaned in to knock on it.

It opened a few moments later, and Aaron's expression lit up just a bit, seeing her standing in front of his doorstep wearing that colorful outfit.

She grinned. "Hey, sorry I came so late."

"It's no problem, really," he replied. He wanted to free her hands, but it looked like taking one container from her would cause everything she was holding to fall to the ground.

"If you have somewhere for me to put all of this..."

"Yeah, over here," Aaron stepped aside to let her in and led her to the dresser that was in his suite. It was practically set up like hers. "You can just put it here, thank you."

Skye carefully lowered the containers onto the wooden surface and stretched her arms out for a moment. "It would have either gone to waste or down Ruki's throat anyway." She looked over at his bed and saw his sylveon curled up, asleep on it. "He's adorable."

Aaron could pin Skye's words on herself very easily, but that likely wouldn't fair well. "So, what'd you do today?... if you don't mind."

"Uh," she leaned back against the dresser. "I went to see a friend I knew a few years ago in Sunyshore, you?"

"I took Sylmi over to Floroama town. He loves the flower meadows, so we go there every time we come to Sinnoh," Aaron said.

"Oh, that sounds beautiful, maybe Ruki would like to go before we leave. I know I do."

"I recommend it. If you have any questions about the town, you could always ask me. I've been enough times," he offered.

"Of course, and you're welcome to come with us if you'd like," she said. "Ruki needs friends, and some direction in this region would be nice for me."

Aaron would leap after that offer, even though he'd probably regret it the day Skye had to leave, which wasn't far at all. "I'd love to..."

"In two days... maybe at ten in the morning?" she asked.

"That sounds great, Sylmi and I'll be ready," Aaron grinned genuinely.

"I'll see you then, Aaron, enjoy the food," she left him with that, exiting his suite and heading back to hers to rest after another long day.

He locked the door behind her, and his grin hadn't yet faded.
