Prologue, New Inhabitant

I love life, don't you? I think it's time a new type of animal - a new hybrid, to be more exact - joins us on our old island, Fang Island, don't you? Oh? You don't know what Fang Island is? It's a lone island in the ocean full of wolves and foxes and, of course, because it's needed, their prey. Foxes own one side of the island, and because the foxes are not yet completely thriving on the island, the wolves have more space; the wolves get the rest of the island. Both species of animals are left to wander around the island, even on the other side, but not often do they go on the other side. The wolves, being much bigger and stronger, are friendly, but some of them can be bitter. The foxes rarely go onto the other side and just stay on their side unless it is for hunting. We, the ones in the stars, help grant them more prey as much as we can, and we help as much as possible. But we cannot always help with these things, and we cannot control the barrier between the ones in the stars and the ones below the ground. The ones below the ground are those who have passed who had an evil heart or evil ambitions, and cannot or do not want to change that. I am Zaylay, and up here in the stars, I was the first inhabitant on the island and to come up here. My brother, Maylay, was the first to live where the ones below ground inhabit.

MAYLAY

Zaylay, I oh so much wish we could come back. I wish to go back down there. I wish to restart my life, become like you. (Also who are you talking to?)

ZAYLAY

You may have that ability soon, Maylay, my dearest brother. Remember this: wishes on and around this island always come true. Always. You can choose, you know, to be recreated, one with the pack or one with the skulk. (And, of course, I'm talking to those listening to the story. Anyways-)

MAYLAY

You mean...?

ZAYLAY

Yes, reincarnation. There is, however, a way to connect with the ones on land, the ones still living. To reach their dreams and thoughts, or to reach their senses. Both hard are they to do and both are hard skills to acquire, but you and I, seeing as our age and knowledge, should not reincarnate, and instead should just connect with them. Which, as I said before, our age and knowledge learned over the bearings could help us in doing so. But first, I believe a new type should live on the island; a hybrid, and not any hybrid, but the first hybrid, and she should be winged. But what type of wings should she have? Feathery, dragon, bat...

MAYLAY

I believe she should have... dragon wings. She should be the rarest of the species all on here. She should live longer, have dragon wings, have long ears, unique coloring, she should have powers, and I do not mean only flight, and I think it is a wise choice for her to be a female; she can mate with the male of her choosing, and she could be the first of this rare kind of hybrid, and even species. She should even have, only at the end of her tail, sharp spikes so she can-

ZAYLAY

I believe that is enough description, and I think the spikes on her tail shouldn't be too sharp.

MAYLAY

So yes on the spikey tail?

ZAYLAY

Yes. Now, I do believe we need to choose certain ones of those down on the land to have this happen. Starting a new species from scratch is wonderful, and it is a good thing that there are winged species, aquatic species, dino-like species, and it seems that a more dragon-like wolf is in love with a beautiful fox. They both love each other; we can send this little one to the fangs as a gift from the heavens. Twilight, one of the island fox species, is the specific fox we shall give her to. Twilight will be a great mother. Stormcloud would be a good father for this young one.

MAYLAY

Are you sure about this decision? Things can go wrong, we can't see that far into the future.

ZAYLAY

Well, if you didn't try to kill your sister for only one reason because you were "possessed" by a demon, then you would be able to have as much foresight as me.

MAYLAY

Haha, very funny, Zay. Anyways, what do you think the name signs should be for this one? I'm thinking Twilightcloud.

ZAYLAY

Twilightcloud is a nice name, we can have her be twilight colors with a white roan sparkle that is easy to see on her pelt. We could send clouds at twilight for the name signs. We could also send a leaf in the wind that says "Twilight," and another leaf that says "Cloud."

MAYLAY

I think it's a good idea, Zay. We can even connect to them in a dream.

ZAYLAY

Maylay, you do remember you are one of the ones below the ground, right? Hold on, I just remembered something I could do. I could make you a temporary one that lives in the stars. Then you could go to Stormcloud in his dreams. I shall go to Twilight in her dreams. But tonight, our mission is to tell them that they are meant to be together, and we shall even show them our masterpiece of rarity and life so far. Now, in order for you to be a temporary star fang, you must agree to use the time wisely. If you don't there will be consequences of my choosing. One of them is that you never would be able to become a temporary star fang and will always be a dark-hearted fang, and that is one that I cannot choose because it will have to be done to you.

MAYLAY

Okay, okay. I won't do anything dark-hearted.
