Part 1.3

Author's Note: This is a very long story about a fox. If you're not interested in sitting in for the long run, don't read it and don't give me a bad vote. The story is split into 10 sections and numbered 1.0, 1.1, 1.2... and so on. I will post a new section each day. Please enjoy.

English was decidedly good. Not the class, of course. Right as Charlie walked in he met eyes with Jack, the akita from earlier. Jack smiled and wagged his tail, then thrust his paw in the air and indicated a seat right next to him for Charlie. That pasted a huge grin on Charlie's face and he went to sit in the seat. Jack greeted him like they were old buddies: "Hey, man, how was your first class? What was it?"

"I had theater, and it was ok. We just played a game to introduce ourselves. Oh! I met the otter that accidentally kicked my shelf."

"Oh yeah? What's his name?"

"Ethan. He's a sophomore."

"Oh. I thought you were a freshfur?"

"I am. I just..."

"Well are you sitting with him for lunch?"

Charlie remembered the sophomore-freshfur lunch table distinction. "No, I don't think so."

"Great!" the akita exclaimed. "Then you can sit with me."

Charlie wasn't sure what the akita was getting at, but he didn't care and it was a huge relief to already have someone to sit with for lunch.

English class itself was boring as hell. The teacher was some old tiger who had been teaching for years and looked about ready to just retire on the spot, but she carried on the class in a monotone and handed out a few sheets of paperwork that everyone was supposed to have signed by their parents. Charlie and Jack got in trouble once or twice for whispering to each other. Charlie didn't like getting in trouble, of course, but he was elated to actually have a friend he could whisper to. He wasn't expecting that.

Charlie's next class was computers, which was supposedly about learning how to use some basic processes and file management. Charlie was a big fan of computers and technology since he had been a gamer from when he was a little fox. He owned a Playstation 3 and was on it all the time.

The computers were set up 3 to a desk, which was really more like a long, thin, table. There were two rows of about 7 "desks," with an aisle in the middle. Once Charlie walked in, he saw his teacher, a female brown bear, sitting next to the projector screen. She motioned towards the screen when Charlie caught her eyes, and he saw an assigned seating chart. Charlie was placed in the middle seat about halfway down the aisle. He didn't particularly want to sit in the middle seat, but he did as he was told and ended up sitting between some slutty vixen who looked like she'd just gotten high and had bags under her sunken eyes and some burly German Shepherd who must have weighed 300 lbs.

Midway through the class the vixen nudged Charlie and motioned to her screen, where she had written on a notepad: "Do you know what a G-spot is?" A bit taken aback, Charlie widened his eyes. Of course he knew what that was, he learned in middle school, but exactly how much of a slut does this girl have to be for that to be her first communication with him? To avoid having to deal with her, Charlie just shook his head and turned back to his computer assignment. "Weird school. Weird town." he thought.

After class was lunch. Most freshfurs would be apprehensive about lunch on the first day, about where to sit and all. Charlie, however, was excited to see Jack and was one of the first to the cafeteria. He came a little too soon, though, and barely any of the tables were filled by his lunch period. Charlie figured that Jack must come eventually, so he got in line and picked up a tray. He was happy that they had mozzarella sticks, one of his favorite foods, but when he came out of the line with his tray full of food the cafeteria was still only half-filled and Charlie didn't see the akita anywhere. He chose a table by the door that was empty and sat down. Maybe since he was near the door he'd catch the akita as he walked in. Charlie started to eat, making frequent glances at the door which seemed to perpetually have a flow of furs coming in for lunch. One glance revealed Ethan, the otter, come in with a few friends. The otter and fox waved to each other, but that was it. Ethan came out of the lunch line and went to a sophomore table far across the room. Charlie guessed that what he had heard about high school was right. Just as he was about to turn back to his food, Charlie caught sight of his target, Jack. Charlie missed him walking in while paying attention to Ethan and Jack was already standing at the end of the lunch line looking like an idiot while scanning the room for his friend, so Charlie waved high above his head to get his attention. Jack saw Charlie's paw in the air and smiled as he walked over. Charlie smiled too. The akita was a little taller than Charlie and had grey fur all over his body. His body was skinny, like Charlie's, but slightly toned. Not to the point of buffness, which Charlie was comfortable with, but toned. His grey curly tail full of unkempt fur swished behind him as he walked, in contrast to Charlie's usually stiff and very well-groomed brown fox tail. Jack arrived and sat down across from Charlie. The two furs smiled at each other, and Jack said "Hey."

"Hey, mate, how's it going?"

The fox and the akita had a great lunch together. Charlie found out that Jack shares his same interests in video games, and that he owns a PS3 too.

"So, what other classes are you taking?" said Jack.

"In the morning I have theater, computers, and then English, obviously."

"Theater?" asked Jack. "Oh yeah, you told me this morning. I love theater too!"

"Really? Wow, cool. Do you have it this semester?"

"Yeah, I take it sixth period. Too bad."

"Oh well, at least we have one class together."

"Wait, we have the same lunch period. What class do you have after this?"

"I'm taking Spanish. What about you?"

"No way! Wait, what teacher?"

"Oh, it's supposed to be..." Charlie paused as he dug in his backpack for his schedule. "It's señorita Talquee."

"Oh yes!" Jack nearly burst out of his skin. "That's my class too! We have fourth period together."

"Really? Awesome!" Charlie was so happy to have found a friend that actually wants to be in the same classes with him. He was happy to have Jack as company during the long fourth period.

Lunch ended, the bell rung, and the pair left the lunchroom together and walked to their Spanish class, which was taught by a thin young cougar. Charlie and Jack found seats next to each other, and, like in English, Charlie sat to Jack's left. The cougar was silent until the bell rung for the start of class, and immediately she began speaking rapid-fire in Spanish. Other than 'hola,' which means 'hello,' Charlie didn't know a lick of Spanish. Unfortunately, neither did Jack. The fox and dog just sat staring at their teacher who could have been going on about the end of the world for all they knew. It got boring as the cougar raved on, and of course no fur was picking up any Spanish, so Charlie and Jack resumed whispering amongst themselves. A couple times the teacher caught them, pointed at them with a filed nail, and began angrily tossing Spanish expletives their way. At least, for all they knew.

The entire class period went by with the teacher like this, speaking not one word of English, until the end when everyone learned at least one Spanish word: 'adios,' which meant 'goodbye,' learnt as the teacher waved while everyone left the room.

"Wow, that was different." said Charlie, mostly to himself.

Jack heard and replied, "Yeah... I hope it's not like that all semester." The akita and fox had to part ways for different classes, but they promised to sit together for lunch tomorrow.
