Slowly I walked away from our small house my feet dragging. My eyes down watching my step in the drifting gray dust till I was away from everyone in what amounted to twilight.I fell to my knees, raising my eyes I looked up into the "sky" a strange color almost gray black here weren't many clouds but the few that I could see were almost black and all fast moving. The clouds looked like they were boiling or on fire. Added to that was what looked like gray snow slowly falling but I knew it was ash most likely from Yellowstone Super Volcano. Besides the temperature was in the eighty's even though it was in November. Seeing the jets flying in formation toward the east there must be hundreds of them. Then with no warning what looked like a meteor streaked across the sky but was more than likely a half molten rock from the Yellowstone Volcano. Then several more a couple moments later felt and heard the rumbling of the strike, not my turn to die yet it seemed.

Only a few weeks ago, the world was "normal" many small wars the usual crap on the TV, radio and of course the net. The usual as it was called "fake news" by all sides. The election had happened and a war did not start from it as expected Everyone wanted to destroy this person or that one with no regard for their lives. Then a two months ago the report of a small comet that would be a near miss "they" said by several millions of miles away some time close to the end of the year or so it was said.

But everyone knows how science is, somehow it did not miss instead it hit the Atlantic. Also, most of the east coast of the US was destroyed, and the same happened to the other side of the Atlantic; yet somehow the governments were all still there. Then one thing no one expected was every fault in the world would let go all at once and worse every volcano had erupted worldwide within two days. Example the ring of fire erupted and the faults all released Japan no longer existed, on the other side the state of California was gone as well as the states above it; there were far more missing but I would never know about them.

Then there was an asteroid it missed the earth, thankfully given it was well over a mile on one side and some reports said more like 5 miles (ca. 8 km) (and that no one had seen it) and seemed to be composed of mostly iron unlike the one that hit the earth, that one was just rock. The (other) big one was headed inward on tight orbit toward the sun or so it seemed, the world promptly forgot it given the destruction from the comet. Everyone was trying to save the survivors, then two days ago a small flare happened as the asteroid was at its closest to the Sun; and the asteroid was touched by the flare. The resulting explosion was fully Earth facing and grew like no flare ever witnessed, when it reached the Earth soon it would far exceed anything everything ever recorded. Somewhere between two or three days from now was the guess though it was more like twenty-eight hours. It seemed the scientists on their predictions were 3 for 3 this year.

Some were in the middle east a person walked out of his home he would never be remembered or even known he had lived. Far up in the sky he noticed a streak that grew then suddenly it became a point of light that grew though by that point his bones began to glow as the radiation from the bomb reached him though he did not feel it as he was already gone. Some one had launched not just a atomic bomb but their first multi stage one also known as a hydrogen bomb that was measured in megatons the city was gone as well as most of the country as the fall out fell no one was there to see or pray for the people that had been there or those that would die from the fall out that would cover the earth over time.

Late the next evening the news of an atomic bomb being used in the middle east was broadcast though not who used it or who it was used against I guessed some government had decided to use the comet and the resulting chaos as a chance to take out an enemy possibly more, I prayed it would stop before all life was destroyed. Next was stated "we were at war". Then, the power died at that moment. The words "it's the end of the world" ran through my mind. My first thought was to prey to God to save the world and the human race not myself I was to old but everyone else yes then with tears running down my face.

I slowly painfully rose to my feet my back and knee screaming at my insistence of movement and walked slowly back to the house thinking if this was my last day I would be with my family as I walked an earthquake started but only lasted a few seconds I did not lose my footing. The quakes had been happening ever since the strike that morning, a few bad most were not though I bet some places it had been very bad I entered my house. I could not believe there were any faults left anywhere on the Earth.

Jen my fiance standing there crying, I went to her and took her into my arms and kept telling her something I did not believe "it will be OK, we are safe my love". Then my sight went screwy flashes of light what looked like lighting bolts the light hurt my eyes and it was not bright inside with no power, and then the pain began, just my luck a migraine it was almost funny today of all days to get one and not your run-of-the-mill migraine this one was the worst ever. Stumbling to the bed I laid down Jen holding me as I passed out from pain. Jen later told me how beautiful the sky was.

Outside the sky was erupted in sheets of rippling color from pole to pole reaching far lower than anyone ever thought possible in some places down to tree level. The flare had arrived far sooner than the scientists had thought possible, and was much stronger than it had been thought it was possible. For the flare to come this fast and also affecting everything. The the Earth's magnetic field had more than just collapsed it was gone the rotation was changed as well

Even people were being affected such as migraines, heart problems, not to mention strokes also implanted electric items and medical devices in their bodies were giving problems up to and including causing fires. Worldwide the wave was destroying the electronics and more. There were stories told later of battery displays exploding like firecrackers in stores. Even battery operated things had stopped working. The sun what could be seen looked like an old painting from the Middle Ages the large streams of light coming from the sun all over, yet the sun looking angry and was a darker color more orange yellow not white as it had been and larger much larger well on the way to nova not that anyone on Earth knew.

Then There was a deathly calm over everyone all over the earth waiting for the end of the earth. We were going out without so much as a whimper. Most to shocked to even pray to what ever god they had they just waited to die. Strangely the dust in the sky was gone you could see the stars and the moon was gone it was now just a ring around the Earth.
