through kindness :chapter 1
ok this isnt a permanent title, its just temporary until i come up with a new one. also this is a work in progress, so comment on what i need to fix or what i should add to it. this is my first story and it would be awhile until i would upload the 2nd chapter. note: all characters belong to me and any similaritys to real people are just coincedence.

Hi my name is Luke howler. I'm a black wolf. Hair is long and I'm wearing my usual jacket with the two yellow strips wraping around the waist. My cross necklace made of onyx dangles around my neck. And I'm bored.
I was in the middle of class doing the usual. Drawing lark in my sketch book with hearts around him. I have similar pictures of him like this. What can I say? I love the big guy.
I pause to stretch and yawn, waiting for the last bell to ring. "Ugh, how much longer Ryan? I'm just about ready to go to sleep." I said.
Ryan, my best friend since freshman year, looked at the time on his phone. "Um...about 30 more minutes. Class would be more fun if Mr. Robinson would just let us use our IPods .so that way I don't have to hear him talk."
I looked at Ryan with a 'are you that stupid?' type of look. The fox just ignored my look and twirled his pencil in his paws. His spiky red hair was ruffled up as lark, a German Sheppard and the one I'm crushing on, told him to pay attention.
I had to immediately hide my picture and slipped it in my bag. He didn't notice and was too busy picking on Ryan.
" Ryan you're already failing this class. At least pay attention today. "He laughed. His white fangs showed beneath his beautiful smile. I just melted in my seat when he looked at me and smiled again. His blue eyes looked into my brown eyes.
Kevin, a blue wolf, got in between us "hey guys are we still going to the beach this summer?"He whispered.
Ryan pushed him and lark away from his desk "yes, we are. Now get out of my face."
"You're no fun. I just want to talk. "He pouted sitting back in his seat. Kevin sighed and stared at Mr. Robinson, imagining all the things he wants to do together when they get home.
Lark meanwhile is debating on whether or not to ask Luke the question. But as usual Kevin interrupts his thoughts. "Hey buddy. We doing anything on Saturday? If not can we go to glowing paws?"
Um yeah sure Kev. We can go. You guys want to come with this time?"Lark said looking at me and Ryan.
Ryan just looked up with a pencil balanced on his muzzle. "Hm? Were now?"
"The rave, glowing paws. You guys coming?"
"Yeah sure."Ryan replied still trying to keep the pencil up. Lark flicked the pencil off and continued to think on his question.
"Hey lark? Something wrong big guy?"Kevin asks leaning forward so no one can hear.
"No nothing's wrong."
"Is it about Luke?"
"...."
"Look, i think you should ask today. If you don't you'll never will. Common go ask him."
"But I'm too shy to-"
"now!"Kevin said in a tone that only few ever hear.
Lark tapped on Ryan's shoulder and asked to switch seats. Ryan got up and switched with Lark. "Hey Luke .I want to ask you something."
I look up and saw lark right next to me where Ryan sat. I hid my picture again and started to get red in the face since he was so close to me. "Um sure. Ask away."
" so uh Luke, you doing anything this Sunday?" he said.
"Um I'm pretty sure I'm free. W-why?"
He scratched his hair and his eyes were looking away. "Well um maybe Saturday night we could....go to your house and um do things? W-Well like studying I guess. "He said with his face getting all red like mine. "And maybe I guess we could, go see a movie and eat pizza afterwards?"
I couldn't believe it. Lark wanted to spend his Sunday with me. 'I can't screw this up.' I thought. 'Just stay calm'
"sure lark. I'd love to spend Sunday with you. I well...it's a date then." I said smiling. 'oh crud I shouldn't have said that.'I immediately thought.
"Yes!"Lark shouted. He looked happy and glad I said agreed to hang out with him. I just smiled and looked at his bulging muscles. All those years of football really paid off for him.
And I loved his smile.
Mr. Robinson threw the first thing he got in his hand at lark. A book hit him right in his face. "Lark my office after class."
Kevin snickered in his chair. Ryan just sat there and sighed.
When Mr. Robinson turned around I got out of my chair and went next to lark. "Lark! Are you ok?"
He held his nose and managed to mutter "yeah, I'm fine." I removed his hand and blood was dripping down his muzzle. It wasn't bad but the guy I liked was in front of me bleeding .I panicked "lark! You're bleeding!"
" I said I'm fine Luke!"
"b-but there's blood..."
I felt a chalk board eraser hit the back of my head." Luke, after class, my office and make sure you bring lark."
"But I was just-"
" sit down now Mr. Howler "he said picking up the stapler. So I sat down before he threw more things at us. He's lucky that we don't try to get him fired for this.
After awhile the bell rang and everyone rushed out the door. The four of us stayed behind.
"''Kev and I will stay out here."
"You better Ryan. Because, I don't want to walk home again."I said
" ok I promise. I won't leave this time. Besides Matt needed help with his truck."
"I still don't find that a great excuse for leaving me."
"Whatever just go before Mr. Robinson throws a desk at you."
I stared at Ryan and left to Mr. Robinson's office which was only down the hallway. Lark followed, his nose stopped bleeding a few minutes ago using my t shirt to soak up most of the blood. It wasn't much though.
We got to his office and opened the door. Mr. Robinson was sitting in his chair playing a videogame. "Hold on one sec!" he said concentrating on his game.
I went behind him and watched him finish his game. To my amazement he was playing final fantasy: Dissidia and was playing as Bartz. I didn't see his opponent at first but then I saw Golbez jump up behind. Mr.Robinson used Bartz special move and pushed all the buttons perfectly. He won the battle.
"Yes! I beat it on hard the first time I played it. Sweet game." he shouted spinning in his chair. Me and lark just looked at each other the watched the giddy teacher act like a 4 year old." here lark give this back to Kevin and tell him thank you for letting me borrow it."
Lark took the psp with a confused look." um ok? Kevin let u borrow it? He never lets people borrow his stuff."
"Yeah well that's something I'm going to keep secret. Kevin can tell you if he wants to. "Mr. Robinson said getting out of his chair. "Ok now what's with you guys during class? Lark, you never have outburst like that during class."
Lark turned red and scratched his hair" um well I just...I asked Luke if I could go to his house to study, and to do other thing. I guess I just got too exited. "Lark looked at me and I just smile. He got even redder in the face and turned away.
"Oh that's why? I thought you were playing on your iPod again during class. Luke why where you out of your seat? I thought that you were watching him play."
" well you threw a book at him Mr. Robinson. I went to see if he was ok."
"Oh I threw a Book at him? I don't pay attention at what I throw at students. Sorry, was he bleeding?"
"You tell me. My t-shirt was white when I got to class and now it's red."I said holding up the shirt lark used to stop the bleeding. It was covered in blood in random places.
"Wow sorry lark. To make up for it I'll change one of your grades. That's the best I can do right now. So what are we doing this week guys?"
I looked at Mr. Robinson" well we were going to that rave place called 'glowing paw'. But we got lots of homework to do in your class."
" screw that crap. We're going to go and party tomorrow. All of us. Anyone else going?"
I just stood there.mr Robinson was going to spend the weekend with us. What better way to spend the weekend than with your teacher. Oh joy.
" I think Luke's neighbor, Matt, was going to. Katie can't though, she's out of town." lark said." am I right Luke?"
" um yeah, that's correct. But Mr. Robinson-"
" ugh. Call me Chris Luke. I'm tired of being called that."
" ok Chris...why are you going with us?"
"Why not? You rather do more work over the weekend?"
Lark looked up and with a scared face immediately said" NO! NO WE DONT! Luke, don't screw up the weekend for me! Chris you know Kevin would be sad if you don't spend the weekend with us."
"Yeah I know.I'm just teasing you guys. I'm still going though whether you like it or not Luke."
like I had a choice really.
"ok Luke. You can leave now I just need to discuss things with lark."
" um ok?"I walked out of his office and went to the class room. Ryan was still there with Kevin." where's lark?
"Oh he is with Mr. Robinson. They were going to talk about something." then I remembered that I had forgotten my jacket in his office "hang on a sec Ryan; I left my jacket in Chris's office."
"Who's Chris?"
Kevin was surprised by this. "You didn't know Mr. Robinsons first name is Chris?"
"No why would I and why did you call him that Luke?"
" because he's hanging out with us tomorrow. He hates being called Mr. Robinson."
Ryan almost fell out of his chair hearing this."WHAT!?WHY!?"
" you want more homework?"
Ryan shook his head.
"I Thought so. It won't be that bad. (I hope) I'll be back."I said running back to Chris's office.
I rushed out the door and into the hallway. "So you love Luke?" I heard before running up to the door. I immediately stopped and listened. It was Chris's voice." I could tell when you stare at him during class. You gonna tell him you love him?"
I peeked in through the crack in the door. Lark was sitting down it one of the two chairs Chris had set up for students. Chris was sitting on top of his desk.
" I don't know. I want to but what if he rejects me. I can't handle rejection very well."I could tell that lark was seconds away from crying. He bit his lip to stop though.
Chris sighed and patted lark on the back." now don't start crying. You don't want the others to see that you've been crying."
Lark closed his eyes and griped the chair with his claws." I just l-love him so much t-that I'd do anything for him. I don't want to s-see him get hurt or anything."
At that moment I felt like crying myself. My crush loved me too and he sat there confessing his love to me without knowing it.
"Hey Luke hurry up" Ryan said pushing me. I fell over and knocked the door opened. Lark and Chris jumped up at the sudden intrusion.
"Hehe sorry. I um forgot my jacket." I said embarrassed.
Chris hurried over to me" so how much did you hear?" Chris asked helping me up.
I got up and brushed my pants" um no I didn't hear anything!"
The look on Mr. Robinsons face told me he knew I was eavesdropping on them." you're a terrible liar. You look like you're about to cry. Like you heard lark confess his love to you. Did you hear that?"
Lark faced me, tears in his eyes, ready to bolt out of the room any second. He was tense and his tail was stiff between his legs. He was waiting on my answer.
What should I say? Should I simply say 'lark I love you'? The only word that came out of my mouth was" yes. I heard him say that he loves Me." then I looked down. I was disappointed at myself for not saying anything else. I was the center of attention and that is when I get shy.
Ryan, not knowing anything, said" waits what? Lark loves Luke? Since when?"
"Since always*sniff*.I always loved him. Everyday ever since I met him*sniff* I loved him. "Lark said getting out of his chair. He started to run out the door. Ryan got out of the way. I chased lark down the hallway." wait! Lark!"
He kept running away. If he goes outside I might lose him through the crowd of people still at school. The only thing I thought of was to jump at the big German Sheppard.
I lunged at him and took him down with all my weight. He got up but before he started to run again I grabbed his arm and pulled him into a hug. He couldn't resist or pull away. He cried in my fur while I pet his head to calm him down.
"Lark common stops crying." I said in a soft tone.
"*sniff* why should I? You're going to tell the whole school I'm gay and you'll make fun of me and everyone is going to hate me and-"
I was surprised at what he was saying and I stopped him "lark! I would never do that. Why would I make fun of you? Lark you need to know that-"I pulled lark into a kiss and held it for a while. I pulled away only to say" I love you lark sheer."
We continued to kiss and to hug each other. Lark continued to cry. Out of joy? I wouldn't know. I just wanted him to stop crying for right now.
"Lark. You've made me the happiest I've ever been in a long time. I'm so glad that you love me too." I said looking into his eyes." you've always been there for me. You protected me from others. I love you lark. Forever."
" Luke I would never let anyone hurt you. Nor would I ever not be there for you. I'll always protect you and I'll always be there for you."
Chris, Kevin, and Ryan watched and all three of them thought" that is so corny to say, butt sweet. Their cute together."
"I'll see you tomorrow Hun." lark said "I hope you have a nice day. Text you later." and then he left to go to practice.
I stood there not able to move. I felt weak and wanted to cry. He loves me.
"Ok Romeo time to go." Ryan said coming up from behind with my stuff." I want to get to Marcus's soon so let's go."
" ok I'll meet you at the car." I took my bag and my jacket from Ryan and walked to the restroom. When I made sure Ryan and the others left I howled in joy. I couldn't contain my happiness and started to run around in circles.
When I was done releasing all my energy and um...my fluids. I ran to the car and took the passenger's seat.
"Ugh, took you long enough. Now are you ready?"
" yeah let's go. You can pick today's lunch."I put on my seat belt and turned on my I touch. I listened to fire flower by Len Kagamine.
"Sweet! Hamburgers it is then!" Ryan said starting up the engine.
We drove for awhile before we stopped at a family owned restaurant. We did the usual, two burger combo meals with one strawberry shake and tater tots for Ryan. Ryan loves his tater tots.
We then went to Marcus's bookstore because one I loved books and two there was free wifi.
As soon as we came in the elk saw us and ran up to us. He gave us a big hug and ruffled our hair." Ryan! Luke! You guys came just in time. I want you to meet my new employee. Where did he go by the way?" Marcus wondered looking around.
" I'm in the back! It'll be awhile can it wait?" a voice shouted from the storage room."I'm getting out the new books and I'm still trying to find the box. Ow!" I heard something fell and him cursing. Thank goodness that the place was empty besides us.
"Ok just hurry up! My best customers will enjoy meeting you." Marcus said patting our backs and laughing.
"We'll be waiting in our usual corner. Marcus has the next book come out yet?"
"Yep in the back. That's probably the book Cole's trying to get. When we get them out I'll give you a copy."
Ryan loved his fantasy novels. Especially this one series that has had one book after another published every month or so. I forget what it's called. "Yay! Thanks Marcus!"
"No prob. I'll go help Cole in the back." the elk turned around and went into the 'employees only' door tripping on a box. "Gah! Ha-ha I'm ok!"
Me and Ryan went into the back of the store and sat down on the cushioned bench placed underneath the windows. I took out my laptop and finish what was left of my burger from the ride here. Ryan already finished his meal in the car so he was busy on his laptop.
I check all accounts I have and my email. I played a little on a RP forum and updated my profiles. At the corner of my eyes I saw a tail with a red colored tip swishing back and forth from behind a book case. Brad? I wasn't sure if it was him but I wanted to find out. I walked quietly over and heard the guy humming and placing books on the shelf.
I thought "oh please be you brad." I grabbed the guys tail at the base and yanked as hard as I could .he bolted forward forgetting there was a bookcase there and knocked over the whole shelf. "ahh Luke! What was that for you pesky Wolfie!?" he shouted grabbing his rump.
"Brad!"I said jumping on top of the dog.
"Oh I missed you so much!"
Brad was surprised and started to get exited like me. He bounced up and down."Luke! Oh my god you still live here? I'd thought you would've moved by now, or committed suiside.you were so angry and sad when I left town."
Brad, a hyper active golden retriever who was my only best friend in elementary school. We were the only guys in our class that were gay. People would pick on us and we planned to run away. But at the last second brad's dad needed to move away to Oklahoma for business. Brad had no mom or siblings. And all his family members lost contact with him and his dad. The only relative brad and his dad were aware of was brad's brother who would only call every so often.
I used to think of suicide and cutting myself because brad left me alone in the world. But all that changed when I went to high school. It was because of Ryan and lark that I stopped thinking of suicide. They were the only ones that comforted me through hard times.
I smiled, "nope! Once I got in high school I finally made more friends. And look!" I said lifting up my sleeve. "No cuts! I finally got rid of the ideas of suiside, cutting, or running away. But I still missed you brad. Why didn't you answer your phone anymore?"
"Look I couldn't use my old cell phone. My dad got me a new one and threw the other away. "he looked down and his tail went between his legs.
" lark you should have gotten it back. You could have at least put my number back in your new phone. Look you don't know how terrible middle school was and-" I began
"he said you were a bad influence..."he said.
"What you mean your dad did? Well why-"I began to say.
He said that you were a bad influence and that you were the cause of my gayness. "Brad inturupted"he didn't understand! He would beat me up when he saw me look at other guys, he let me only go to the mall if he went, and he told coach to have me take showers by myself so I don't stare at others! You know what kind of hell I went through!? "He yelled obviously upset and angry.
"Wait why would I be the cause? I mean you're the one who was gay first. That makes no sense."
"Well I tried to explain but he wouldn't listen. He did everything to me. Took me to therapy, made me play football, set dates for me, he beat me up, and he even made me watch lesbian porn like every week. You know how much I suffered!?"
By now Marcus and Ryan were walking over wondering what the yelling was about. "Please brad don't get angry. It's ok now. Please calm down."I said.
His fur that was standing up was now going down. He took deep breaths and he tried his best not to get angry.
"Look there's no reason to get all mad. So what happened to your dad?"
He sighed and took a deep breath." well just 2 months ago he got in a car crash and died. I decided to move back here in this town. Unexpectedly one of my friends ran away from home and came with me. His parents weren't too fond of gays either. And since he was gay he was like me. Punished and neglected by others. I need you to meet him. You know show him he's not alone in this world."
Brad picked up the book shelf and placed most of the books back.
"I've might have also shown him pictures of you and me and he thinks your cute.hehe sorry about that. "He laughed and was back to his hyperactive self again.
"Oh well. Brad I'm have my eyes set for someone else. And I also actually have a chance with him. I don't want to lose him now that I know he loves me too." I helped pick up books with brad and Ryan helped too.
"Someone I know?"
"No, someone I met during highschool.his name is lark."
Brad just laughed "lark? That's an um...unique name. He buff?"
"What!?"I said surprised getting a little red.
"You know what I mean. Is he's muscular and strong?"
"w-well-"I began
Ryan just sighed "yes he is. He plays football."
Brad looked at Ryan and realized the fox was there for the first time."Oh how long have you been their?"
And of course this kind of thing pisses off Ryan."I've been here the whole time...my name is Ryan."
"Names brad and I got to say you're a little cute! You Luke's new friend?"
"Best friend."
Brad's ears perked up."Oh do I sense jealousy Just cuz I'm here and was Luke's first best friend, you think I came back to steal him from you?" Ryan just flinched a little where he stood. Brad stood there for a moment and then busted out laughing." you don't have to act that way .luke can have two best friends and like both of us the same. Our friend ship shouldn't start a competition for who's the better friend."
"Uh .well I do sort of admit that I would have done that. I do those things allot so you have to excuse me if I do."Ryan said smiling the same way as brad.
I grab both and pull them in a hug "my best friends. Glad to see y'all getting along."
I notice the Clock on the wall across the room. It read 6:13."Oh Ryan we have to get home.matts waiting for you." I said packing up our laptops and throwing away my trash.
"Awww man I wanted to talk more. "Brad whined.
"Well you have to get back to putting all the books back on the shelf anyways brad."Marcus said.
"You'll see them every weekday so don't worry. Now get your ass to work, I need you to get Ryan here a copy of the new book 'lightning flash'."
"yes sir!" he said running to the box he was unpacking."Hm let's see...ah the new Alexander polf book." he took out a black and white book and tossed it to Ryan, who barley caught it. "good series, Luke you might try it sometime."
"How would you know if I don't read that?"I said
"you love your mystery novels too much to pick up another kind of book. If it has no mystery you're not interested in it. "He replied putting the others on a shelf full of books like that one.
"After all these years you still know me to well."
"Yep.like if I do this "he said putting his body next to mine rubbing our fronts together. "Then you'll get erected to easily. And if I do this-"he slid one finger down my back. I started to moan and wimper"then you moan and start leaking."
"Please...stop...brad..."I said getting all hot and panting.
"Luke what does he mean by leaking?" Ryan said before he saw my stain in my pants and smelled my arousal."Oh god. Did you pre in your pants?"
I started to blush. Brad stopped but I was still was Horney. "So Luke let's meet up later at my house and I'll let you meet my new friend. Here's my address. "He slipped a note in my back pants pocket."Hey what how about tomorrow? All of my friends are planning on going to a local club together. How about you two meet up with us at my place?"
He shook his head, "no he has to work tomorrow, but I can go.
"Got to shelf books.bye wolfie.bye Ryan."
As soon as we got home Matt was coming down the apartment stairs. He noticed us and waved. He was a big bear with a mark on his left cheeck.he had brown fur, and his hair was short and black.
"Hey Ryan!" he yelled
Ryan got out and ran up to Matt "hey big bear, we working on the truck today?"
He ruffled Ryan's hair, "yeah of course. You wanna get started while I go get something in my apartment?"
"Sure! I'll get everything ready."Ryan said happily and ran to the trunk of our car to get the tool box and everything else.
I started toward the stairs and was going up, but a big hand stopped me."hey Luke can I talk with you for awhile?"
"Sure Matt, what's up?"
"Well...oh never mind. I'll tell you later. I'll just get going so I don't leave Ryan out here by himself."
I looked at matt with question but didn't want to bother him."Ok you two have fun on your truck."
I walked upstairs and left the door unlocked for Ryan. I put my things in my room and grab a random drink from my mini fridge. It was Pepsi.
Turning on the Xbox and the TV, I sat on the couch and started playing lost odyssey. After a while my phone vibrated and scared the hell out of me.
It was lark.
I opened up the chat menu on my Ipod touch and started to type.
Luke: hey Hun <3
lark: Hun? Lol I could get used to that.
Luke: well you should cuz I'm gonna call u that all the time now.
Lark: hehe so what you doing?
Luke: nothing much. Just playing the Xbox.
Lark: well wanna know what I'm doing?
Luke: what?
Lark: Lol thinking of you.
Luke: awww I'm thinking of u 2
Lark: can't wait to go to glowing paws tommorow.everyones going. And then we will have Sunday all to our selves.
Luke: can't wait Hun
Lark: well I have to go. Kevin is on the roof again.
Luke: again???
Lark: yeah he wants to play with me cuz he's bored
Luke: well I'm going to bed.
Lark: ok good night Luke. Now to get Kevin down...
Luke: lol ok night sexy.
I quickly exited the chat before he replied to that last message and turned off the TV. Ryan was already asleep and was hugging his pillow.
I put my pajamas on and climbed into bed. It was a good and long day. Tommorow is going to be interesting...
