Chapter 22- two weeks later

Luna crouched down knocked on the front door standing up again she was taller than the house and she was wearing her usual I'm not shooting the bad guys today outfit, shorts and a shirt that didn't cover her belly or her arms and her scarf black one giving stark contrast on her snow-white.

Farren's father opened the door.

'How's he going today?' Luna asked.

'Better' he said smiling, 'he has started socializing again with other people.'

'That's good' she said, 'I just wanted to know if he wanted to if he wanted to come outside and go for a walk with me given that I can't exactly come inside.' I can't come inside it was there a little joke.

'I will ask' Farren's dad said ducking back inside.

Farren appeared a moment later, looking a little tired but a lot better overall 'sure let's go.'

They walked slowly Farren unconsciously leading Luna into the forest, usually, they would just talk in Farren's back yard.

'So how are you going?' Luna asked.

'Better' I answered from somewhere I pulled a sketch pad out of thin air, 'I've been drawing these' i showed Luna the detailed black and white sketches of Serafin, Runetide, Aborwrath and also some of Calsifer and Luna was in there too. Along with some landscapes and on the final page a full-body drawing of Serafin done with watercolours, and on the very back page a work in progress of Luna.

'You have been busy' Luna said impressed.

'It distracts me' I said, 'and I find it therapeutic I'll have to move on eventually I suppose,' I sighed.

Luna put a finger on my shoulder I turned and Luna hunkered down I looked up at her, 'yes you will she is gone now there's nothing you can do about it but you know what? that doesn't mean you need to forget her, in fact, don't ever forget her but don't let her death define you live your life, live to the fullest she didn't die for the Farren I see before me.'

I looked at up at Luna, 'your right.'

'Good' Luna said, 'so you wanna come party with me Runetide, Calsifer and some others.'

'Will Mark and his team be there with everyone?'

'Yep,' Luna said.

'Ok, I'm in' I said, 'oh and tell Alex congrats on your three-month anniversary.'

'I will' Luna said, 'I'll meet you after school on Friday.

'Got it' i said.

'Well then get ready to party like there's no tomorrow.' She said, 'little cub' she added teasingly.

'You may have missed the boat for that' I said smiling.

So come Friday Luna packed up in a very literal sense, I rode her shoulder all the way to were Runetide met us and we teleported to the beach. Everyone else was already there this was a celebration for everyone, especially Runetide it was her birthday. And she had invited everyone it was one hell of a party. There was music, food, and people I knew to talk to Alex, Calsifer, Mark, Petrov, Zain of cause Runetide and last but most definitely not least Luna, we talked we ate we played party games I did not join in spin the bottle despite. Alex, Zain and Luna doing their best and by the end of the night I was the only sober one there, Calsifer and Alex were getting very flirty Sol, Mark, Petrov, and Zain and the other Lycanthropes were playing cards against humanity, drunk. Runetide was on all fours and had Uriel pinned with one hand was mercilessly tickling her.

'Get, get off you fucking overgrown-' Uriel's protests were lost amidst her giggles.

'No' Runetide laughed, they were both drunk Runetide only relented when she despite being off all fours fell over swamping Uriel in a wave of seawater.

I imagined that Uriel was going to have a fun time getting the sand and salt out of her fur. But that didn't seem to be bothering her now, they were both just laughing but it was getting late. I said my goodbyes gave everyone hugs then I jumped up on to Luna's shoulder, as all the other lycanthropes and Mark Petrov and Zain decided to play spin the bottle.

'I'm going to head of' I say.

Luna nodded slowly, 'i will come with you' she sounded ok she was only slightly slurring her words.

I turned back to see the Uriel was pinned by Runetide's jaws, and she was licking Uriel.

'Can, can you don't' Uriel was giggling madly.

'No' Runetide replied muffled between licks 'I'm cleaning you.'

And Zain, by the laws of spin the bottle now had to kiss savanna, I smiled as Zain blushed an almost iridescent red.

'I'll get the medkit' Petrov said everyone laughed.

'Alright hold on' I said suddenly we here outside my house, I jumped off Luna's shoulder she promptly fell on all fours and vomited mum opened the front door.

'Farren' she asked politely, 'why is Luna vomiting on my front lawn?'

'Party' I said.

Luna roller over moaning, she looked like she was going to hurl again.

Mum examined Luna from a distance, 'she will have to stay here I think, bring her into the back yard I will get some whet bed sheets.'

I somehow got Luna to stand and guided her to the back out of the house, using a little bit of magic to summon some arms and hands and got her to lay down, mum came out with several wet bundled up sheets.

'Drape them on her forehead.'

Luna moaned piteously, I waved my arms up and all the sheets lifted into the air draped themselves over her head, muzzle and ears.

'What do we do now?' I asked.

'We wait for Luna to wake up with a headache.'

'I'll stay with her' I say worried.

'Ok' mum said, 'come get me if you need help.'

'I will' I say sitting down and right of holding Luna's hand 'it's ok I say you're going to be alright I'm here.'

'I am pain.'

Eventually, Luna after a lot of moaning fell asleep, I stayed awake for some time looking up at the stars. Eventually, I fell asleep to the ground below me becoming soft and bed like it was a dreamless sleep, and when I woke the first thing, I heard was Luna moaning.

'Fuck me my head hurts.'

I sat up Luna stayed laying down, 'how are you?' I asked.'

'Shit' Luna said with a hint of a smile and then she added, 'am I in your backyard?'

'Yep.'

Luna sat up taking the wet sheets off her head and looking around, 'ow my head.'

'Told you alcohol is bad.'

'How would you know you have never had it.'

'have seen the aftereffects' I say indicating Luna.

'Good point' she said, and then she stopped for a second 'you know how we meet up? And like talk.'

'Yes.'

'Well, I was thinking that maybe we should meet, like somewhere else like in the park it has a hill with a nice view.'

'Ok,' i said, 'first get over your hangover'.

Luna nodded fervently, 'sorry about your front yard.'

'It's ok.'

'So, shall we meet in, say two days' time.'

'Sounds good' I say,

Luna belched, 'sorry' she laughed.

I raised my eyebrows, 'impressive now get out of here you drunk Lycanthrope, go home and recuperate.'

Luna nodded standing unsteadily.

'On second thought I will take you home.'

Luna nodded, 'thanks.'

A second later we were inside her house, it was like a normal house but bigger I could just barely touch the bottom of the table which Luna was leaning on for support. It was almost like being a child again, everything was so big bigger than you, especially the people you lived there, in this case, other Lycanthropes inside Sol was sitting out the couch.

'Help her out, would you?' I asked.

Sure, Sol said standing up and she supported Luna all the way to the couch where she lay her down gently.

'Give it a day' Sol said brightly, 'I'll have her right as rain.'

'You know' I said, 'with the sun shining off your fur like that you do look a bit like an angel.'

'My angle' Luna murmured.

'I think that spots been reserved' Sol said looking at me meaningfully, I couldn't quite meet her gaze.

Interlude 8

Arious couched down lifted the wall of the collapsed house this had been a hard-fought over residential area, it had taken them a week of nonstop fighting to take it back after Aborwrath had been killed, her armies had broken up but there were still areas of resistance this was more of a problem in Archericon. Arious had mainly been in the back lines helping move wounded and with the civilian rescue teams, he was in the western sector they had drones in the area doing thermal scans there were a surprising amount of civilians alive and hiding. Or trapped the family of three cowed as he dropped the wall there were five in there covered in dust and they all looked half-starved.

'Hey Eric, I've got wounded here and there hungry.'

'A-are you hungry, one of the adults asked haltingly.'

Arious shook his head 'no I'm one of the good guys I'm just here to help' he smiled in what he hoped was a comforting way.

Then he stood letting Eric and his relief team see to the family, one of the children waved to Arious he waved back his heart filled with joy. He had only three more areas today to investigate then he was free to go, he was a volunteer worker, but he was considering taking this one as a full-time job, the first official Dragon emergency responder.

Later that night Arious and Quinn were sitting on the roof of Arious's house looking up at the stars their hands intertwined Arious's necklace glittered dimly under the night sky he had his wings wrapped around Quin and himself.

'I helped save thirty people today' Arious said, 'what did you do?'

'Oh well, nothing that dramatic Quinn' replied, 'just working on a new song.'

'So, when do I get to hear it?' Arious asked already knowing the answer, he did expect her to reply with her usual slightly nervous grin and you will hear it when it's ready instead she said.

'When everyone else does,' at this point she was almost vibrating with energy.

Arious gasped he looked down at Quin astounded, 'no you didn't? you did? oh my god's how, when, why, hold on you didn't-'

Quin laughed at Arious's shocked face and his blathering, she raised her finger and put it to Arious's muzzle.

'Shhhhhh' she giggled, 'you'll wake up the neighbourhood.'

'Well maybe you should have told me that you got your song on the fucking radio' Arious said, in an exaggerated whisper.

'Well, I thought it would have a nice good surprise.'

'I'll surprise you' Arious said wrapping his arms around Quinn, spreading his wings and taking off.

'Hold on Arious what-' Quinn's words were snatched away by the wind.

Arious took off his necklace he slowly began to resume his normal size as he shot up into the sky holding Quinn until the ground looked like a patchwork below them, with lights everywhere Quinn screamed in delight Arious hovered there holding out the hand with Quinn perched in it.

'Wow,' she breathed.

'Surprise, I bet you didn't see that coming' Arious said as he started to fly off to right it took Arious almost ten minutes to reach it.

'Where are we going?' Quin asked.

'Somewhere special' Arious replied.

After that, he didn't say anything he just flew, and Quinn looked down at the ground watched the scenery changed from houses to fields, then to a forest, and then finally to the mountains.

Arious was taking Quinn to the top of the tallest mountain in Archasia, there was a large cave just below the summit, he landed sitting down in the cave mouth it seemed as if you could see the whole continent from up there. The massive rolling hills like veins spread out around them and in the distance the glow of Archaiser's capital city.

'I did not see that coming' Quinn said, 'I knew you could fly but this is wow this is something else thanks for showing me this and wow the view is just wow.'

'Well I figured it was about time I showed you this, I know this sounds dumb but it was my mum that showed me the view it's breathtaking, and I just wanted to show you and congratulate you I am so, so, proud of you' Arious raised his hand and nuzzled Quinn. 'And also, also I love you.'

'I love you too' Quinn said Arious put on his necklace back on and again wrapped his wings around them both they sat in silence for and long-time just enjoying each other's company and the view.
