You come to this park regularly to feed the pigeons, but this encounter is different when a man sits next to you. His speech is intriguing and you can't help but look him in the eye. That was a mistake.

This is a piece for XIII-Varro over on FA. He won my raffle over on Twitter and this is the story he wanted to be written. I hope you enjoy it!

You sit on the bench feeding the pigeons the bread crumbs you throw on the ground. With a plop, a creature sat down next to you. He sighs and throws his arms on the back of the bench. "Such interesting creatures pigeons, don't you think?"

You nod as you throw another piece of bread towards them. "They feed what is given to them even if it's not good for them. They're just like us. They're eating to survive."

Did this man get closer to you? His presence is overwhelming your own, surrounding the quiet, cool atmosphere of the park and enveloping the surrounding area. You try to focus on feeding the pigeons bread, but you hesitate. Your paw shakes as it enters the bread bag, uncertain if this is right for the birds. You should get up.

"Where are my manners? My name is Varro. I don't need to know yours. We're just strangers, after all. Just passing by in the day, resting on this bench in the park."

Every instinct in your body is telling you to stay. No! Telling you to leave. Or do you want to stay? Leave! You're frozen in your seat, unable to listen to your instincts. You finally turn your head to Varro. He's staring right at you!

"There we go. We can't have a proper conversation if we don't make eye contact. It's pretty rude." Varro extends his arm out and you follow through, shaking his hand. His touch is warm and inviting. You feel like you could listen to every word he says and believe him.

Varro smirks. He moves his head around and you follow his eyes. You are trapped in his gaze, unlikely to run away unless Varro breaks eye contact. "Now that I've got your attention, what do you say about coming away with me?"

Was his voice always this welcoming and inviting? It's only been a few minutes since he sat down next to you, but it feels like you've known him your whole life. If a passerby walks past the two of you they would think the two of you were co-conspirators, friends, or maybe even lovers. Varro has a different idea on his mind though.

Varro scoots closer to you. The heat you felt earlier washes over you as his body heat radiates off him and to you. You find yourself leaning closer to him. This man is the warmest thing around. The park seems colder than before; you need his warmth.

Varro opens his arms up and you press your body against him, finally warm. "There we go. Do you like feeling this warm? It is awfully cold lately, don't you think?" You nod in response. Varro rubs your back and shifts around. You close your eyes and listen to his heartbeat.

Varro looks past your body and down to your leg. His tail begins to coil around your feet and ankles. He opens his mouth and snakes his tongue down your head, wrapping it around you. You look up into his eyes as he stares back into yours.

"I've got a place that's warmer than out here. I hope you don't mind that it's a little wet." Varro's tongue and tail wrap down and up your body respectively. The coils tighten around your legs and head. You feel slightly dizzy as you stare up at Varro.

"Hope you don't mind the trip. It's pretty cramped and damp. But don't worry, I'll carry you every step of the way." If you had any sense to run away, it's long gone now. Varro has captured his prey. You are his. Varro squeezes his tongue and tail against your body gently. You let out a soft gasp, regaining some composure, and look away from his gaze.

However, it's far too late. Varro's tongue and tail tips touch. You can only struggle weakly. Varro cups your chin and forces you to stare back into his eyes. "Now that just won't do." You stop struggling and think only on Varro's warmth and wanting to be near him.

"I think it's best for you to not see where you're heading. Who knows what else will happen after all." Varro holds your head still as his tongue and tail squeeze your body. "I must admit, you're quite the find today." Varro's voice begins to echo as your sight becomes blurry. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe." Varro opens his mouth as your vision fades.
