#3 of Moon Tide

Within three days, Jo-Ann was back at home, serving her month long grounding sentence: she wasn't allowed out of the house after 9 pm, at all. But it wasn't so bad, she thought. Plenty of time to read, one of her favorite hobbies. The library had plenty of her favorite authors in stock. Though she didn't watch much television, she also had ample time to catch up on a few of her favorite shows, and watch something new every now and then.

Of course, she also had many questions to answer. The police came to visit her in the medical center, and asked her all kinds of questions about her attacker, to which she answered the best she could. The rest of the questions came from her friends, concerned about her healed injuries, and awe struck by the amount of excitement injected to her life in such a small amount of time.

As time went on, however, the questions subsided, and the excitement went with it. She continued her reading and watching TV, but it had grown boring. She decided to clean the house instead, but once that was finished, she was back to being bored. With just a few days left in her punishment, her father decided to let her go early, so she could spend some time with her friends.

On the day of her release, her best friend invited her to the midnight premiere of the latest movie in the series about a planet of dragons, and she eagerly accepted. She met with Marcus outside her house at about 9:30 pm, and they began walking. She had been friends with Marcus since first grade, and they had been incredibly lucky when his family had moved to the same town she and her father had moved to two years after them.

He was 6 inches taller then her, being a full 6 feet tall, and his constant outdoor activities left his skin tanned a light brown. His build was small and wiry, which hid his slight strength, but easily revealed his speed. His clothes were well worn, but cared for at the same time. His black hair was wild and unkempt, but if combed, would have just barely covered his eyes and ears. He rarely missed a detail thanks to his wide and attentive hazel eyes.

They set off for the theater, which rest in the heart of the next town over. A short drive, maxing out at 20 minutes on a slow traffic day, was an hour walk along the most direct route. Along the way, they just talked about how their summers were going, and what they had planned for the future.

Their leisurely pace brought them to the theater about an hour before the movie began, which was perfect, since the line was starting to build up. They walked to the end of it, and took their place. The hour went in a blink, since they were so caught up in conversation.

After the movie, the duo started the trek home, estimated time of arrival about 3 am. The sky began to clear when they were half way home, the clouds parting and revealing the month's full moon...
