#37 of Michael and Amanda

I gave this chapter a Mature rating due to implied sexual situations.

Jacob and Ophelia are flying back to Catlanna and Ophelia is fuming. She wants Amanda to return to Catlanna with her and Jacob. She's worried that Michael will harm Amanda; Jacob, on the other hand, trusts Michael and asks Ophelia to trust him, too. Ophelia adamantly refuses.

After Jacob and Ophelia leave, Michael and Amanda return to his bed and go back to sleep. A couple of hours later, Michael is awakened by a wakeup call. He tried to get Amanda to wake up so they can go visit his old (ancient) hometown. When he finally gets her up, he goes to the bathroom to get dressed while she goes to her room. After breakfast, they leave Jaguarville and drive to Brantawick to see how much things have changed in the last 20,000 years.

Meanwhile, Bertha is awakened by Wanda who is busy giving her pleasure. After a few seconds, Wanda confesses that she is worried about what will happen between them if their relationships with their men continue to grow, especially if the guys learn about their relationship.

Michelle awakens to see Albert smiling at her and feels happier than she has in over 20 years. Albert has proven to be utterly different from Michelle's rapist and she realizes that she was too quick to judge him by her rapist.

Saturday Morning

As the plane flew to Catlanna, Ophelia and Jacob were having a heated discussion.

"Jacob, I don't trust him. He's human. What if he takes Amanda's innocence? What if he hurts her, emotionally or physically?"

"Ophelia, I told you, Michael is a good person. I can't imagine him forcing Amanda to do anything that she doesn't want to do. I can't imagine him hurting her in any way. He cares about her. With her feelings for him plus her being in heat, I'm more concerned about her taking his innocence."

"He's a human, Jacob. That's all I need to know about him."

"Well, it's the weekend. I understand that Michael want's to visit the area of Gargia that he grew up in and see how much it's changed over the last 20,000 years. I'm afraid he's in for a shock, a big shock."

"And I suppose he's going to force our daughter to accompany him."

"I doubt that, Ophelia. He's probably going to ask her if she wants to go with him but, he won't force her to go."

"She wouldn't have to worry about whether or not he'll force her if you would have told her to come back to Catlanna with us."

"And she would have hated us for the rest of her life."

"At least, it would be a long, happy life."

"Ophelia, give Michael a chance. He may surprise you."

"I doubt it, Jacob. I sincerely doubt it."

Ophelia got quiet and started thinking. "I'm afraid of what's happening. I need to contact Reginald and remind him of our contract."

*****

Michael heard a loud ringing sound in his right ear; it was painfully loud. He opened his eyes in a state of mild confusion and felt someone stirring next to him. After a few rings, he realized the ringing was the telephone. He picked up the receiver and spoke.

"Hello?"

A cheerful voice in his ear said, "Mr. Thomson, you requested a 0130 wakeup call?"

Michael took a deep breath and said, "Yes. Thank you." He hung up the telephone.

Michael looked down to where he had felt the stirring and saw Amanda in the same position she had been in when he got into the bed at 2353. He reached over and gently shook her shoulder and softly called her name. Her response was to wrap both of her arms around his left one and pull it against her chest.

"No, you don't." Michael said, laughing. "Wake up."

"No. Want to sleep." She said while smiling.

"Do you want to go with me to Brantawick today?"

"No. Stay here. Sleep with you." She replied.

"Amanda, I'm about to get up, get dressed, go eat breakfast, and go to Brantawick. I don't want to leave you here but I will."

She opened her left eye, looked at Michael and said, "You would leave me here--alone--in my condition?" She pulled herself closer to his face.

"I don't want to but I'm going. Are you going with me?"

She started kissing his neck and seductively saying, "Isn't there anything I can do to make you want to stay in bed with me?"

Michael groaned softly because her kisses and her soft muzzle fur were starting to have the desired effect. He caught myself, shook his head and said, "No Amanda. Your heat will be worse tomorrow and Monday the trade show starts. So, it has to be today. Come on," Michael laughed, "get your fuzzy butt up, go to your room and get dressed."

She looked at Michael sexily and said, "You've never seen my butt so you don't know if it's fuzzy or not."

"Yes, I did. Thirteen weeks ago, remember?"

"Oh. Yeah." She giggled and added, "I forgot.

"Don't you want me to change clothes in here?"

"A-a-a-ah, no."

She giggled and said, "Spoilsport. All right. I'll go to my room and change. You better be here when I get back or I'll give you such a dirty look when I find you."

Michael laughed and said, "Hurry up. I've got to change, too." She stood there. "Didn't we have this discussion yesterday morning?" She smiled mischievously. He looked at her for a second and then said, "Fine." He grabbed his clothes and headed for the bathroom. He stopped and looked at her. "Better hurry. I'll give you five minutes after I change and then I'm going downstairs to eat breakfast with or without you." He took one step toward the bathroom and heard the connecting door open and close. As he walked to the bathroom, he smiled and thought, "Should have thought of that sooner."

By the time Michael got out of the bathroom, Amanda had changed clothes and returned. He found her sitting on his bed. "Ready?" He asked.

She stood, hooked her arm through his and said, "Yes. Do you think Brantawick has changed much?"

"Well, it has been 20,000 years. That's longer than the oldest known civilization before I was born. I'm sure it's changed a little."

*****

Michelle opened her eyes and saw the face of a caracal looking into them. She smiled sweetly as he reached over and softly caressed her belly fur.

"Good morning, Beautiful." He said.

"Good morning yourself. Did you sleep well?"

"When we finally got to sleep. I never even remotely pictured you as such a sex hungry female. Is it because of something I did?"

"You might say that, Albert. You proved that I was wrong to judge you because of what one person of your race did to me. You've shown me, over the last three months, that you really are a good person. You didn't judge me because of what that other guy forced me to do and you showed me that, you really do care about me. I don't know how long we'll be together, Albert, but I do know that I'm going to be one happy woman while we are."

"Thank you, Michelle. I know that I seemed to be a bit brash . . ."

She looked sideways at him and responded, "A bit?"

Albert laughed and said, "Okay, a lot. But, I was covering up a really shy person and a person who had fallen helplessly in love with a beautiful serval girl. I'm glad that you gave yourself to me last night and I hope it was the first of many, many nights to come."

"Silver-tongued devil. Are you ready for breakfast?"

"Yes, I am. What about Janet?"

"What about her?"

"Do you think she'll be angry with us about last night. I mean, we weren't quiet."

"Oh, she'll get over it and if she doesn't, she won't."

Albert laughed again and threw the covers off himself, reached down, got his clothes and started getting dressed. Meanwhile, Michelle was doing the same thing on her side of the bed.

*****

A familiar feeling of pleasure worked its way through Bertha's body causing a soft intake of breath and a soft moan to escape her lips. "Oh, Jonathan." She moaned. Jonathan's tongue, while not covered with barbs like feral felines, had numerous small bumps and each bump seemed to be touching a different part of her vulva giving her intense pleasure. She knew what would happen next and she eagerly awaited it. Jonathan had been concerned with her pleasure ever since their first night together three months ago and tonight was no different than every night they'd spent together before.

Bertha moaned even more loudly than before and opened her eyes. She looked at the ceiling and was temporarily confused; it wasn't hers. She and Jonathan had never made love anywhere but in her bed. She looked about as she continued to moan from the pleasure she was experiencing. As she looked about, she recognized the bedroom she was in. She looked to the pillow next to hers and saw that nobody's head was on it. She raised the sheet, looked down and saw a relatively familiar sight, the top of Wanda's head. Bertha closed her eyes and moaned softly once again as a result of Wanda's ministrations.

"Wanda, again? You're insatiable sometimes." Bertha said between moans of pleasure.

Wanda lifted her head, placed her chin on Bertha's pubic mound and looked at Bertha's brown and white face. She smiled and said, "I can't help it. You're so responsive and I enjoy our times together. In fact, for the last two years, you're the only woman I've even thought of being with."

"Why won't you let me pleasure you sometimes?"

"Because, I enjoy giving it to you and I know you enjoy receiving it from me."

"And I'm not as good at it as you are. Right?"

Wanda smiled impishly and said, "You said it, not me."

"You know that I won't get any better if I don't practice."

Wanda smiled and slowly crawled up Bertha's body, slipped her arms under Bertha's shoulders and lay on top of her with her head between Bertha's breasts. Sometimes being about six inches shorter than her lover had it's advantages. She turned her head and kissed one of Bertha's breasts.

Bertha wrapped her arms around Wanda and asked, "Why do you enjoy doing that? Jonathan does it, too, when he spends the night with me."

"I don't know. I just enjoy laying with my head between your breasts. They're so soft and warm."

"That's what Jonathan says. I guess it must be true if both of you say it."

Wanda was quiet for several seconds causing Bertha to believe that she'd fallen asleep. Suddenly, Wanda said, "Bertha, have you ever wondered what would happen to us if Jonathan decided he wanted to marry you?"

"No. Why?"

"I enjoy our times together. I don't want them to end. Does Jonathan know about you and me?"

"I haven't told him. If he knows, he's guessed and if he hasn't guessed he's denser than I could imagine. You've never hidden your feelings for me."

"Are you afraid to tell him?"

"No. I just haven't seen any reason to tell him. What about Robert? Does he know?"

"He knows I'm bi-sexual. I don't know if he knows about you and me, though."

"Are you going to tell him?"

"I haven't made up my mind yet. Why?"

"Well, you know that most men have a fantasy about two women at the same time. What are you going to do if he asks about joining us?"

"I'll tell him that I don't share my partners with anyone else, even another partner. What about you and Jonathan?"

"Wanda, you know I've been around the block more times than I care to admit to. I've been with lions, tigers, bears, rabbits, wolves, dogs, foxes, an otter, and any number of other races. I've finally found a guy that puts me ahead of anything and anyone else. He makes it his duty to make absolutely certain that I'm satisfied when we're together. I don't know if I'd want to share him with you or anyone else, too."

"If I was to marry Robert or you were to marry Jonathan, I don't know what I'd do, Bertha. I love you. I love you as much as, and in the same manner as, I love Robert."

"I know what you mean, Wanda, because I love you, too.

"I suppose that, if we decided to marry our men, we'd have to tell them about us."

"Maybe they'll understand and let us get together regularly."

"Maybe."

Wanda was quiet for several seconds before asking, "Has Jonathan mentioned meeting his family yet?"

"Yeah, once or twice. I suppose I had best get ready because I know I'm going to have to meet them one day."

"I know what you mean. I'm lucky; because I've known Robert since we were seven. His parents know about me; I just don't know if they know about us."

"I've told my parents about Jonathan. Papa was a little surprised, especially when I told him that Jonathan is only 28, but, he wants me to be happy so he said as long as Jonathan treats me properly, he'll accept Jonathan."

"I don't know how my parents will react. Being speciesists, they didn't like it when I was married to my second husband. But, I think it was because he really was a bit of a seedy character more than the fact that he wasn't a badger."

Just then, Bertha's stomach rumbled causing both of them to laugh. Wanda said, "I guess you're getting hungry." Just as Wanda said this, her stomach rumbled, too. "I guess I'm getting hungry, too. Come on. Let's eat."

*****

"Mama, Mah'l come see Anne today?" Anne was sitting her her highchair as she ate her breakfast.

"No, Sweetie, I told you that Michael is a long way from here for the next 10 days. He'll visit you as soon as he can after he gets home." Under her breath, Tigresa said, "He better come to visit. I want to know about him and Amanda."

Victoria said, "Mom, why did he have to go to Jaguarville?"

"He's looking at computer systems to upgrade the one at SoGa."

"And Amanda's with him?"

"Yes, she is. Why?"

Richard joined in saying, "Because as soon as Mrs. Fuchs finds out that Amanda's with a human, she'll go ballistic. She hates humans worse than she hates the idea of impure bloodlines."

Leo walked into the dining room after having just gotten off the telephone. He had missed the first part of the conversation. He said, "Well, Jacob's not home. He hasn't been home since last evening around 1100."

Tigresa looked at him and asked, "Where is he?"

"Would you believe he's in Jaguarville?"

"What is he doing down there?"

"According to Marshall, Ophelia found out about Amanda being in Jaguarville with Michael and she decided to 'go save her daughter from that human'."

"And I guess that Jacob went down there to bring her back?"

"Yes. Darn it, I was hoping to get in a round of golf with Jacob today. I could use the extra money." Leo said, laughing.

"Leo, sweetheart, we haven't needed money in over 20 years."

"I know but it's so much fun seeing the look on Jacob's face when I tell him that after winning over 500 Yenars from him."

Tigresa just shook her head as she laughed quietly.

*****

Michael and Amanda took the elevator which was operated by a male Koala. When they got off the elevator, Amanda's grip on Michael's arm became noticeably stronger and tighter. She also got so close to him that he felt her body touching his possessively. Every time a female passed within three feet of him, he thought be heard a quiet growl coming out of her throat; but, because he wasn't certain, he ignored it.

They walked through the lobby and into the dining room with Amanda still gripping his arm hard enough to hurt him. When they entered, Michael noticed a buffet and wait staff. He looked at Amanda and said, "Do you prefer to order breakfast or eat from the buffet?"

Still holding and caressing his arm, she said, dreamily, "Which do you prefer?"

"Let's look at the buffet. If it's got good food, I'll order from the buffet."

"Okay."

They stood back from the buffet and Michael looked it over. He saw all manner of fruits, berries, vegetables, and meats. There were pancakes, sausage, bacon, ham, toast, and eggs. Anything you could even remotely consider a breakfast item was on this buffet, except two, cereal and milk. Michael asked Amanda about it and she told him that when a humanimal cub is weaned they become more and more lactose intolerant until, by the time they're six, they can't drink milk in any form.

Michael said, "Well, the buffet looks good. Tomorrow, we can order from the menu. How does that sound?"

"It sounds fine to me."

They found an unoccupied table and informed the waitress of their desire to eat from the buffet. She took their drink orders and they served themselves from the buffet. Michael was shocked at the amount of fruit on Amanda's plate: watermelon, peaches, blueberries, and cantaloupe to name a few. She even got two pancakes with strawberry topping. What was truly shocking was that she got only two pieces of bacon with all the fruit.

"Amanda, you're a red fox. Right?"

She smiled and said, "Yes. Nice of you to notice."

"You're a carnivore. How can you eat that fruit?"

Her smile broadened and she said, "Michael, how many times do I have to explain it? My ancestral red foxes were carnivores because they were animals. I am a humanimal, just like almost everyone else in here." She indicated everyone in the dining room. "All humanimals have human DNA. Humans were/are omnivores. Our human DNA allows us to eat plants and digest them just like humans, even feline humanimals can eat and digest plants."

"Compared to herbivores, humans can't digest plant matter very well."

She laughed and said, "You can digest it better than our four-legged ancestors could."

She looked around, pointed and said, "You see that brown hyena?" Michael nodded. "Look at her plate. She has virtually no meat on her plate and she's enjoying her apples, peaches and cherries."

She looked again, pointed and continued, "Look at that timber wolf. He has a little meat but most of his plate has waffles and fruit sauce."

"I see. You'd think that I would have noticed by now. After all, we eat lunch together three times a week now."

She smiled as she took a bite of her watermelon. "I can't imagine being a pure carnivore or pure herbivore. Besides, I believe my fox ancestors were known to eat fruit on occasion. I seem to recall a story about a fox and grapes."

As Michael recalled the story, he smiled. "Yes. It's an ancient fable by a Grecian man by the name of Aesop. In his story, the fox wanted some grapes but they were too high for him to reach. He jumped and jumped and couldn't reach them. Finally, he gave up and walked away after saying, 'They were probably sour anyway.' That's where the saying, 'sour grapes' came from."

"Sour grapes?"

"Yes. Anytime someone can't obtain something they want and then say it probably wasn't worth having anyway, we would say, 'Sour grapes'."

She shook her head, smiled and went back to eating. Michael sat there and watched her enjoy her breakfast, as light as it was. He noticed, as she ate, she tended to keep her head down. As he watched her, he noticed that she was watching him. After several seconds, she noticed that he was watching her. With a mock frown on her muzzle, she looked at him and said, "What are you looking at?"

"I'm watching you eat."

"Why?"

"You're enjoying your meal. You seem to be feeling a lot better than you felt at 2353."

She took a deep breath, closed and opened her eyes and said, "I do feel better. You kept your promise. You protected me from my mother. You let me share your bed even if we don't do anything except sleep. You're a good human, Michael; I don't care what my mother says. Is it any wonder that I have such strong feelings for you?"

Michael sat deep in thought for several seconds before he replied. "I really can't answer that question, Amanda. To be perfectly honest with you, I feel my feelings for you growing but, at the same time, my brain, my logic, is starting to grow resistant to my emotions. As strange as it may sound after hearing my protestations for the last several months, I enjoyed having you sleep next to me last night. I've never had a woman that wanted to sleep with me; yet, at the same time, I felt a slight revulsion because of what I know you wanted me to do. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?"

She nodded, grinned mischievously and said, "You're saying I have to work harder to get what I want from you."

Michael smiled, rolled his eyes and slowly shook his head. "Are you finished eating?"

"Yes."

"Okay. If you're ready, let's get the car and take the drive to Brantawick."

They stood and Michael took the ticket to the checkout station and paid for their breakfast making sure to leave nice tip. Amanda was continually amazed at how generous Michael was when leaving a tip despite his telling her why he did.

They left the dining room and walked to where the car was parked. As Michael expected, Amanda latched onto his arm like ivy to a concrete wall. Despite his protestations to the contrary, he really did enjoy her attention.

Before they left the hotel, Michael asked the desk clerk how to get to Brantawick. She said, "Brantawick? Nobody visits Brantawick. Most humanimals visit either St. Simian Island or Jackal Island."

"I grew up there a long, long time ago. I just want to see how things have changed since then."

"Oh, well, in that case, when you leave the hotel parking garage, turn right, go four blocks, turn left at the traffic light and stay on that highway. It goes to Brantawick which is about 79 miles north of Jaguarville."

"Thank you."

It wasn't easy but, when they got to the car, Michael got Amanda to give up her death grip on his arm long enough for her to get into the car and to allow him to get into the driver's seat. During the drive to Brantawick, Amanda had resumed her self-appointed position as Michael's arm protector. In fact, by the time he got in, she had slid over to the center seat and belted herself in. She resumed her caressing of his arm and rubbing her cheek on his shoulder. She was making a soft humming sound that, strangely, made him more relaxed and, at the same time, more attentive. Michael hated to admit it but, he was actually enjoying the attention that Amanda was giving him. Unconsciously, Michael put his arm around her shoulders and she snuggled against him and hummed contentedly. This was going to be both a pleasurable and rough week for Michael.

*****

Michael followed the directions that the desk clerk had given him and, in twenty minutes, they crossed the Trout River and, in essence, if not in fact, left Jaguarville. Michael drove north along the highway which followed the old Route U. S. 17 closely. After another fifteen minutes, Michael started snickering.

Amanda's curiosity was piqued. "What's so funny, Michael?"

"I knew a lot of the old cities I used to know had had their names changed but this is funny. We're coming up on Yowlee and, if we turn right, we'll be going to Furrydina Beach; I knew them as Yulee and Fernandina Beach. That's just funny to me. Oh! If we turn left, we'll be heading toward Cowlahan; that used to be known as Callahan."

Amanda didn't laugh. Michael guessed she didn't understand his sense of humor. About ten minutes north of Yowlee, they crossed the St. Meowy River and were approaching Springland. Fifteen minutes north of Springland brought them to Woodchuck. Eventually, they arrived in Brantawick. As they drove through the "city", Michael was more than a little surprised. Brantawick never was a boom town; but it was significantly deader than he expected it would be.
