Chapter One
New And Old Wounds_
Okay chapter two is here and I must say it was quicker than I had expected. Okay thats a problem. Perhaps I will go a little slower next time and think more of it out. But with so much free time I have to have something to keep my mind busy, rather this than listining to my sister and parents complain about every little thing. But enough ranting, lets get on with why your really here. I now present Chapter Two of Sorrow and Joy!
Alex covered his ears as the loud screeching noise continued. He tried to reach up and turn it off but as soon as he removed his paw from his ear the noise would cause him to put it back. Suddenly the noise stopped and he looked up to see his father starring at him.
"Hi dad" Alex said, smiling at the umbreon.
The umbreon raised his eyebrow. Alex knew what was comming next.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to mess with stuff? The entire town could hear that racket."
Alex stood up and shook himself saying. "I just wanted play with it. I didn't know it would use screech on me."
His dad shook his head. "Thats wasn't a screech attack. That was music, a wierd kind of music. Now stop messing around and get in the bathroom its your turn."
Alex groaned. "But dad I just had a bath last week."
The umbreon raised his paw and pointed towards the door leading to the dining room saying in a serious tone. "Now!" Alex grumbled as he walked towards the door. He swiped at the green scarf around his dad's neck before running into the dining room.
The umbreon walked into the room in time to see the eevee run down the hall and into the bathroom. He wipped some dust of the scarf and shook his head.
"Well if it isn't Alex's mommy and daddy."
The umbreon turned to the luxray that had made the comment. He smiled and walked over and sat down just within paws reach. The luxray stared at the umbreon for a few seconds and chuckled. " Man you are something else you know that?"
"I know but someone has to be a parental figure around here."
The luxray raised his eyebrow.
"What do you mean? I'm not grown up enough mister single parent who's afraid of-"
He was cut of by a paw smacking him in the back of the head. He turned to see a beautiful ninetales glaring at him. He rubbed his skull with a paw.
"Oww! What was that for?"
She continued to glare at him. "Leave him alone Spark. He's doing the best he can with Alex. And give him break, can't you see he still not feelin well." Spark leaned over and kissed her. The umbreon turned away at this. They broke it after a few seconds and looked into each other eyes.
"Sorry about that babe. I was only joking."
" We know." Then she leaned over and licked his cheek.
Realising the umbreon was still in the room they both blushed. She sat next to him and turned to the him smiling. "Sorry about that little display Kyler." Kyler shook his head chuckling. "Thats okay Vula. You two are in love, but next time wait till I'am gone for you two to make out." She smiled.
"Hey whats going on?"
They turned around to see a lucario walking over to them rubbing his head with a towel. He sat down between Kyler and Vula.
"Hey Ry how was you bath?" Vula said.
Ry placed the towel on his lap. "Fine, if it wan't so short." Then he streched out his arms and yawned. Kyler touched the bandages around his mid-section with a paw, he winced as a sharp pain went through his body. He cursed himself for being to slow to dodge the attack. The last few days went through his mind.
*Flashback*
"Spark thats enough fallback!"
Diane watched as the exhausted luxray evaporated and the red beam of light retreated back to the red and white pokeball. She glanced back to Nicholia the opposing trainer.
He grinned as he won another round. He had heard she was a three time league champion and wanted to see for himself. He had lost the first round against her. But he beat her in round two and then lost against Spark. Then he called his his ace pokemon, a monferno, and beat Spark with a few good placed mach punches and dig.
Diane starred at him for a few seconds. She had a tough desicion to make, on one hand she could call out her star pokemon Kyler and end the match with grace. Or she could call out her rookie pokemon Ry and that would give him some experience. She considered her choice's and made a desicion. Brushing her red-pink hair out of her eye's she reached for the last pokeball on her belt and threw it.
"All right Kyler report!"
Kyler appeared and crouched low in a attack stance. Nich's eye's widened. He laughed and pointed at the umbreon.
"You got to be kidding me! You chose a dark type against my dual fire-fighting type. Either you are the most stupid trainer out there or your victories against the Leagues was a fluke, or both!"
Diane didn't wince at the comment and instead smiled. Kyler glared at the monferno and bared his teeth. The monferno didn't flinch at the gesture but instead pointed at him with its tail, mimicing its trainer.
"Your cockyness is going to be your downfall" Kyler thought.
"All right you make the first move."
Nicholia smirked. He turned his attention to his monferno and shouted. "All right monferno use flamewheel!" The monferno bursted into flames and curled into a ball and took of towards Kyler. Kyler stood still waiting for Dianes orders, the flamewheel was almost upon him when she called out.
"Kyler jump and use dig!"
Kyler leapted into the air nearly missing the ball of fire. He smelt burnt fur as he started to head back to the ground. As soon as his front paws hit the ground he started to dig furiously. Soon he disappeared into a small hole with dirt still flying out from it. The monferno skidded to a stop a few feet away from the hole and glanced back to her trainer.
"Well if your going to play that way then we will to. Now monferno use dig!"
The monferno soon disappeared as a shower of dirt flew from a slightly larger hole. Diane and Nich watched the battlefield, both anxious on whos pokemon would appear first. The field was quite for a few moments and nothing stirred. Diane could feel the sweat starting to run down her forehead. All of a sudden the ground exploded as both pokemon flew into the air sorrounded by dirt and rocks.
Diane's instints took over as she yelled out orders.
"Kyler use shadow ball"
Kyler opened his mouth as a blackish ball formed and grew bigger. Nich wasn't about to let Diane get away with a win, he shouted to his monferno. "Quick use mach punch!" The monferno disappeared. Kyler saw this and knew where the hit would come from. Twisting his body so that he was facing up he caught a glimpse of the fire type and was prepared to release the ball when the air was forced out of his lungs. He heard a slight crack and felt a immense pain in his torso. He release the shadow ball as soon as the monfernos fist connected with his chest. The ball hit the baboon pokemon and exploded.
Diane gasped as both pokemon fell to the ground. She ran over and started to administer first aid to both pokemon. But Kyler kept pushing her hand back every time insisting that he was fine. Struggling to his feet he glanced over to the monferno. She was being tended to by her own trainer who seemed to be very worried about her.
"He must care for them more than I thought." Kyler told himself.
He felt the pain in his chest intensify. He put a paw to his mouth and coughed a few times. He tasted a strange liquid in his mouth and looked at his paw to see it was covered with a red liquid. He stared at it and then all of a sudden he felt dizzy, he staggering forward muttering something and collapsed. The last thing he heard was Diane's paniced voice.
"KYLER! KYLER!"
*End Flashback*
He woke up in the pokemon center in Sandgem town a few days later. During the entire time he was out Diane and the team never left the room. He found out that the attack broke a rib and puntured one of his lungs causing him to cough up blood. Spark told him that a officer Jenny happened to be on patrol at the park they were battling and heard the Diane's screams.
Nicholia and his team left a day before he woke up. He said he was sorry for what he said and hoped that Kyler made a full recovery. He also said that they still needed to finish their match. Diane agreed saying that they'll will still mop the floor with him and his team.
Kyler was at least glad to hear that his shadow ball didn't do too much damage to the monferno and that she made a speedy recovery. They stayed at the center for a week before moving to Professor Rowans so that the team could get some excersise.
Kyler was so concentrated on his thoughts that he didn't notice Ry grab his tail and yank it.
"GAH!"
Kyler spun around and yelled at Ry.
"YOU BASTARD! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?"
Ry gripped his sides as he laughed at the umbreon red face. "Hah Hah Hah! Y-you should see yourself. A-atleast I reached for your tail and not for the front!" He fell backwards and kicked his feet in the air still laughing. Kyler face got redder as he realised what Ry said. Ry was differnt from the rest of the group, very different. Kyler first noticed it when Ry had evolved from a riolu. He stay to himself and when mating came up in a conversation he would turn red and bolt before any one could ask him a question.
One day Kyler followed him away from camp and through a mountain area to a small cave. There he learned why Ry was so nervous about mating. Kyler watched as a male golduck walk into the cave, curious about what was going on he sneaked up to the opening and peered inside. He saw what was happening and ran away from the cave as fast as he could. He curled into a ball next to the fire for the remainder of the day not saying a word about what happened.
Ry arrived in camp sometime later. When he heard about the way Kyler was acting he realised who's paw prints were leading away from the cave and who had followed him. He and Kyler didn't talk to each other for some time after that. Every time he would sit next to him he would make a excuse and leave. Finally at the request of Spark and Vula they talked. Ry explained to both Spark and Vula why he was acting so wierd lately and why Kyler acted that way when he got back to camp.
But that was months ago and he told the team that four leggeds didn't interest him. After hearing that Kyler felt somewhat better, enough to talk to Ry again and count on him as a team member. Now he often played joke on Kyler and Sparks that often made them laugh but sometimes it would go to far.
Kyler glared at the lucario. Spark and Vula could see that Kylers eyes were starting to turn red. They felt what was about to happen and quickly intervened. Spark pushed Kyler away from Ry and tried to calm him down. While Vula had Ry follow her to the other room and lectured and scolded him about the joke. Kyler closed his eyes and took some deep breaths, wincing as his lungs were still not fully healed.
"Dude just keep your cool and relax. It was just a joke and he's sorry... really. Come on your our leader and I know that you are demon when your pissed but don't do anything your regret. Um...Alex, think how Alex would feel if you hurt Ry."
Kyler calmed down and layed down and the floor. He knew if he hurt Ry he would go through the entire graduation scene again and he didn't wan't that. And that Ry was Alex's best friend. Spark watched Kyler for a while, not knowing if he was thinking or waiting for a chance to kill Ry.
Slowly Kyler lifted his head and looked at Spark. Spark could see that his friend and mentors eyes had returned to their light blue color. Kyler's ears perked up and he looked towards the door as Vula and Ry walked through. Ry glimpsed at the umbreon and lowered his head.
Vula looked at Spark who nodded and then motioned for Ry to sit down with her paw. Ry sat down on the floor and took a deep breath before starting.
"Listen I'm...sorry for what I did. I just thought it would make you laugh and-"
"Its okay. I should be the one who's sorry, instead of acting like a leader I acted like a ass. I've just been... out of it when we arrived."
All three look at him. They had noticed Diane and Kyler acting strange when they got off the boat from Slateport. They took a plane from Sunnyshore to Sandgem with no stops. Kyler lifted his head and looked down the hall to see the bathroom door open and a thick blanket of steam pour out. Alex ran out of the room with a towel covering most of his body. Diane's stepped out and looked down the hall. See the tiny eevee heading towards the back door she yelled.
"Spark, Vula, Ry get him before he escapes!"
Kyler watched as all three of his teammates jumped up and raced after the fleeing eevee. He chuckled as he stood up and headed for the bathroom. Diane sighed as Alex managed to get by them and slip outside. Turning back towards Kyler she half smiled. She moved aside as Kyler walked in and jump into the bathtub. She closed the door and locked it before turning to the umbreon.
"How the hell does he manage to evade everyone?"
"I don't know but he has to have learned quick attack by now."
She shook her head. She walked over to him and knelt down and started to remove the bandages
"May mew have mercy on us if he does. How are you feeling?"
Kyler winced as she removed the last one. His chest felt somewhat better but still hurt more than anything, but that was to be exected for the first few weeks of recovery. He lifted his head as she removed his scarf and placed it in the clothes hamper.
"Fine but It hurts only a little, but my recovery would be faster if we were somewhere else."
She turned nozzle and smiled as she heard him yelled as cold water hit his body. "Sorry. Just a little reajustment here." She turned the other nozzle and placed her hand in the way of the stream of water testing its temperture. Kyler lowered his head, allowing the water to run down his face and neck. Diane squirted a bit of shampoo into her hand and started to was his fur, while talking to him.
"Listen I don't like being back after three years but we have a promise to keep and its almost the-"
"I know. The anniversary of their deaths... But I don't know why so soon and in my condition?"
She continued to apply the shampoo to his coat and moved to his get his back. "I know, but we always did something when it came around and I figured to come back for a special occasion. Evy and Richie are moving here from Solacean they also raise pokemon for Zach. I heard that they bringing Mich with them. They bought some 40 acre property near the cabin so..."
His ears perked up at the sound of Evy's and Mich. He wanted to jump out and head straight for the cabin but the pain in his chest kept him from doing so. He looked up at Diane.
"You think they'll remember me? I mean after what happened between me and Mich."
Diane looked into his eyes, she could make out fear, hope and some other emotions. She smiled and turned back to bathing him. She knew that he wanted to see her again and to apologize to Mich. But he needed to rest and get his strengh back first.
"They will be here in three days. So you should start working on your I'am sorry speech for Mich." She said as finished working on his legs. That was all she was going to clean. He was very protective of his lower region and she had learned that from experience. She turned off the shower and grabbed a towel out of the cuboard. He allowed her to dry him off and apply new bandages to his chest. When she was done she gave him some sleeping pills. She unlocked and opened the door leaving the bathroom and down the hallway to the diningroom with Kyler right behind her.
Alex had been caught with Vula's and Ry's quick attacks before he could dirty himself. Now he watched from a small triangle made up of a luxray, a ninetales, and a lucario as Diane and his dad walked in. Diane glanced at him and smiled, while his dad went into the living room and laid down on his favorite bed and fell asleep.
On the outskirts of Oreburgh near Mt. Coronet, a huge fenced of complex entered lockdown. Siren blared as the security tried to quell the riot that had started in Cell Block D. Two miles away a man with spicky black hair pulled himself from the escape tunnel he had made. He dusted of the dirt off of the orange jumpsuit and laughed. Turning back to the facility that had cost him five years of his life he shouted.
"Ha I told you that no prison could hold a Team Galactic Commander. I'am Mercury and now I shall finish my mission and have my revenge."
He took of towards Jubilife mubbling to himself what he would do to the red haired girl and her eevee who had put him in there. But first he had some things to gather. Looking around he found a bush near the outskirts of the forest and reached inside it. He smiled as he pulled out a bag with a gaint g logo and ripped it open. His eyes glittered as he pulled out a small metel object saying to it.
"Ah there you are my beauty, did ya miss me? We have some unfinished business." He ran the blade across the palm of his hand, smilling as a line of blood formed.

Please post any comments or question or anything. I will also need some suggestions on new characters for chapter three. Whoa! I had a serious De Ja Vu moment when writing this, or is sleep taking its toll? Nah it was De Ja Vu.
