The school day started off as normal as ever for Chad, except this time Will was sitting next to him where there is usually an empty seat. Whispers and rumors were starting to infest the room and started to spread all around the school in a matter of minutes, but neither of the canines knew or cared. Underneath their lab table, Will started to rub Chad's leg slowly, causing Chad's tail to sway back and forth.

"So you heard?" Will whispered in Chad's ear.

"Heard what?" Chad replied, careful not to move his head and pretend that he was focusing on class.

"I thought you heard from Nala, that well... I like you." Will said while blushing lightly and making sure his voice wasn't too loud.

Chad blushed back at Will and nodded slightly. "Actually no, she didn't tell me. Why did you think Nala would tell me that?"

"Well after I worked up the nerve to tell my sister, I looked through her phone and saw that she had told Nala that I like you. So I figured that Nala may have told you since she knows that you and I have started to become close."

"That explains why she was acting like that last night." Chad muttered softly.

"Acting like what?" Will asked while looking towards Chad slightly.

"Will, Chad, is there something you would to share with the class?" Miss H asked rhetorically to get their attention back on her.

"Sorry Miss H, I was just helping Will with some other homework he needed help on." Chad lied while passing a note over at Will under the table.

Will grabbed the note and started to unfold it as he watched the gaze of his teacher focus on Chad.

"Well surely it can wait after my class. Now pay attention you two." Miss H said while getting back to writing on the board.

Will looked down at the note which was fully unfolded: "Let's talk about this at lunch where we won't be this close to other people. I don't want anything of this to get out."

Will looked over at Chad and nodded as he tried to gain his focus on the lesson. Chad nodded back and then suddenly froze up as he saw Nick through the crack of the class door, walking by and looking in. Chad then remembered his warning and started to panic.

What if he saw him? What if Nick would attack him later? Chad could take on Nick alone, but knowing him he'd probably be carrying some sort of weapon or have back up. Will then saw that Chad's eyes were starting to have fear grow in them and put his paw on his shoulder.

"Hey, are you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost." Will said while taking a look at Chad's frozen gaze that was looking at nothing.

"Can it wait? I don't really want to get in trouble here." Chad said while looking over at Will through the corner of his eye.

"Yeah, tell me after class though." Will said while patting him on the shoulder, letting him know that he was there for him.

Chad and Will then broke off from all the students that were heading off to their next class and found a isolated place to talk.

"So what's the matter Chad?" Will asked while twitching an ear.

Chad looked down in the corner and pinned an ear back. "It's about Nick. He-"

"Not again..." Will interrupted while sighing and shaking his head. "He's such a jealous asshole, I need to let him go."

"No, Will don't get involved, he'll just think I'm a tattletale and come after me even worse." Chad said while looking back at Will and pinning his ears down.

"But he could really hurt you! I'm not going to let him harm you. Besides he knows that if he does anything to you, I get back at him twice the amount." Will said while cracking his knuckles to prove it.

"Well he looked pretty serious then he threatened me.." Chad said while looking down slightly.

"Luckily for him he knows that he shouldn't lay a finger on you, instead he just acts like a coward and intimidates everyone. I don't think a single person other than his friend Leon, truly likes the guy."

"Who's Leon?" Chad asked while looking back up at Will.

"A reptile who's just as nasty as Nick. He's actually more violent, but not as aggressively outgoing as Nick so Nick tends to be the one who calls the shots. He can be a dangerous fellow when provoked and even some of the staff are scared of him." Will warned him as Chad started to whimper under his breath, knowing that if were to be attacked, he would be in trouble.

Will saw that he scared Chad a little then went over and hugged him. "Don't worry though, Leon isn't that bad unless you really piss him off. Besides, I can always protect you from them."

As Chad became lost in the warm and caring arms of Will, he looked up in hope and smiled brightly at him. "Thanks Will." Chad then pinned his ears down again. "But Nick may have already attacked me.."

"What? When?!" Will asked while looking deeply into Chad's fearful eyes to find the answer.

Chad then pointed one of his claws to the lightly blended in scar on his cheek. "Yesterday, after I left from your place."

Will then growled softly and clenched his paw into a fist. "I swear I'm going to beat that guy up so badly one of these days."

Chad then cracked a little smile and looked up at Will. "Well when that day comes, give him a good punch for me."

Will then chuckled and patted Chad on the head. "Sure thing buddy. Well we better get to class before we're late." Will mentioned while looking at his watch.

Chad then realized that he didn't have much time to get to his next class before the bell would ring so he nodded and said good bye to Will, then ran through the halls.

It was Chad's lunch period now and searched around for Will who he figured was already sitting at a table. As he roamed through the rows of columns of tables, he stumbled across a table full of Will's friends who were giving him quite the evil eye. Chad tried to ignore their gaze but their hate was penetrating deep into his psych.

With no sign of Will, Chad sat at his usual lonely table and waited patiently for Will. A few minutes passed and Chad saw Will enter the lunch room and search for him, which he found after surveying the room a couple times.

"I think there's some rumors going around, and some aren't too good." Will said while taking a seat across from Chad.

"What are they saying?" Chad asked while twitching one of his ears out of curiosity.

"Well first, there's one saying that you brainwashed me to be your friend." Will said while laughing to himself.

Chad chuckled back at this. "Please if I'm going to brainwash someone, I wouldn't make them my friend."

Will then tilted his head slightly and looked worried over at Chad. "Then, what would you do?"

"I don't know, probably make them do something embarrassing." Chad said while thinking about the possibilities.

Will then sighed softly. "Good, I thought you would have possibly made them kill themselves or make them do some really dirty work."

Chad actually laughed at this. "Hey I'm a shut-in, not a psychopathic murderer." he then smirked teasingly and flashed his claws slightly. "But then again, what's the difference?"

"Oh no, I'm being attacked by a monster!" Will said teasingly while pretending to be frightened.

"So what's the second rumor you heard?" Chad asked while smiling at Will.

Will then pinned an ear back. "Well, people are thinking that Nala is bearing your child."

"WHAT?!" Chad shouted over everybody else in the lunchroom, making all eyes look over at him. "How did that even get around?!"

Will pinned his ears down. "You can blame that on me. My sister sent me a text today which told me to forget about you since you and Nala already had sex and you were too afraid to tell me. I knew it was a lie but when someone snagged my phone when I wasn't looking, they started spreading the rumor."

Chad slammed his paw down on the table. "It's bad enough that they had to go spreading something like that around, but if it's about Nala, they'll torment her relentlessly which she doesn't handle well."

"What happened to her?" Will asked while covering his paw over Chad's.

"Well it all started when we were in the 3rd grade together. Some of the older elementary kids made fun of her goth outfit and kept calling her "emo" and "cutter girl." About a week later, I found two kids pinning her against the lockers after school, making fun of her and even cutting her with their claws. I scared them off and the kids ended up being expelled and were even forced to move to a different school district due to Nala being traumatized. She didn't return to school till 10 days later and everyone stayed away from her." Chad hesitated to continue as he looked over at the lunch line and saw her.

"Luckily for her, that all blew over her after our first year of middle school, but she's been terrified of knives ever since. If she was to get picked on again, something bad might happen with her and I really don't want to see that."

Will had a troubled look in his eyes and struggled to find out what to say. "Man, I can't believe that. I sure hope those bastards know better than to pick on her."

Chad sighed and knew that there would be that one asshole that would go and push her, he just wish he could make sure that wouldn't happen...

"Well a lot of her friends from middle school, as well as her new ones, know about this fear and that this rumor is a load of shit, so hopefully it will be stopped soon. I just hope that she will stay strong and not let any of this bother her."

Chad then noticed Nala walking quickly away from a few boys that were keeping up with her and had a sinister look in their eyes, as well as a wicked smile. Chad clenched his paw and tried to hold in his anger, but nothing could hold it when he saw a tear roll down Nala's face.

He quickly got up and ran at the lead fur and nailed his fist right into the guy's cheek, knocking him down in an instant. He got onto of fur and pounded his fists into the guys face, breaking his nose and making blood gush out of his face. As the other two tried to shake Chad off, Chad managed to elbow one of them right in the stomach which knocked the air out of him.

As the other pulled back his arm and launched it at Chad, Will grabbed him by the collar of the rear of his shirt, and in one swift move, threw him back over a table then landing on the one behind it. Chad then got off of the first fur and pulled back his fist and sent it hurtling towards the last guy.

A hand pulled on Chad's shoulder which made him turn his hateful gaze and ready-to-pulverize fist right at Nala. Chad immediately stopped and stared into Nala's tearful eyes who were looking back with shock.

The final guy then prepared to land a blow on Chad, but was stopped when Will grabbed him by his shirt and lifted him up as high as he could. Will stared evilly into the eyes of the attacker which made him cower and whimper in complete fear. He closed his eyes in preparation for a beating, but when he was simply dropped, he looked up at Will who still had the same gaze then ran off quickly as if he was being followed by a demon.

As the adrenaline settled, Nala put her arms around Chad and started to sob heavily into his chest. Chad pulled her closer to him and held her close. Just about everyone saw what just occurred and when it did, there was a lot of quiet chatter and faces looking at the cat and wolf. Will stared at all the faces with his warning eyes, making them turn away and among on of the pairs was Nick's, who looked back at Will with just as much hate as Will's warning.

The other two goons who had tormented Nala rose up, then ran out of there as fast as they could. With Nala still getting comfort in Chad, He looked back at the crowd who had all assumed that the two really were together, maybe not mates, but together. Luckily for the trio, all the teachers were at a staff meeting that period so no one other than the students in the lunch room even knew about the assault.

After a minute or two, Nala stopped crying and looked up at Chad who was staring back at her with compassion and love.

"Chad... I don't know what to say." Nala said weakly.

"Then don't say anything." Chad said while rubbing her ears softly, since she loved the way he rubbed them.

Will then put his paw on Chad's shoulder and whispered something into his ear. "I think we should get Nala home, this has probably been too stressful for her."

Chad nodded in response and told Nala that she should head home.

"Well ok, but only if you can come with me, Will too." Nala said while swaying her tail slowly yet, her ears being pinned down lightly.

The three furs then walked over to the school nurse and explained the situation to the female sheep who was licensed to work there.

"Well I'm sorry to hear that happened to you miss Jensen, I'll be sure that those two get a punishment for their deeds." The nurse said while picking up her phone and punching in the numbers of Nala's house. Nala interrupted the lamb and asked her if she could walk home, with Chad and Will.

"Are you sure you don't want a ride, I could take you myself if you want." The nurse asked while trying to help to make sure she would be ok.

Nala shook her head which afterwards the nurse walked up and went to go tell the attendance that Nala was leaving. When she came back she issued the three off.

"Now if you're still under the weather tomorrow Nala, just call me and I'll make sure you get an excused absence." the nurse said while waving them off.

"Thanks Mrs. Wool." Nala said while waving back and leaving through the front doors.

The walk home was quieter than any Study Hall or library since Nala still seemed to be upset by the incident.

As they walked towards Nala's street, Nala broke the silence by weeping quietly and putting her paws over her eyes. Chad and Will put one of their paws on both of Nala's shoulders and gently massaged her, letting her know that things would be okay.

Nala then looked up at the both of them then continued to walk as they slowly came towards her house.

"Could you two wait out here while I see if it's alright with my mom if you two come in?"

The canines nodded in unison as Nala went through the front door and looked for her mother.

"Chad... I'm beginning to get worried about Nala." Will said while keeping his gaze on the door.

"I'm sure she'll be okay. Give her a few days and she'll be back to normal." Chad said while looking over at the husky who seemed to have a strange look on his face. A look that seemed as if it was watching a blank and black space.

"Well it's not just that but, she can't possibly take much more of this. She's got to be feeling depressed or something and I don't want to see her like this. All broken up and torn. Which is why you better not ever break her heart." Will said while looking back at Chad with a very serious gaze.

"W-What are you saying?" Chad said while now paying full attention to Will.

"Look Chad, I like you a lot, but Nala, she loves you. I don't want to be the reason to make her more miserable than she probably already is. So you better make her happy and keep her happy." Will said while returning his look to the front door as Nala came back out and mentioned the two to come in.

Will then leaned in and whispered something in his ear. "I know that you have been in a conflict over this ever since.. well last night, and I just want the right person for you to love, and if that means letting Nala have you, then I'll gladly let it."

Chad then blushed at Will's love for him and looked up at Nala and wondered if it would be right having her as his mate. Something inside him told him that he wouldn't have it any other way.
