Ash's POV

Hi I'm Ash, I'm 6ft 2 and I...

Gin and Tonic

There was absolutely nothing coming through on the comms until there it was, finally something interesting.

"Deploy your squad to the refinery immediately will send re-enforcements if possible, specialists are now on the ground."

"Roger that Command Scorpion one out."

Finally some decent action, I dashed over to Tonic and shook him awake.

"Come on; come on, something's happening, looks like we're on the offensive."

Tonic murred and batted me away sleepily but I soon got him to wake up and drag him to the control panel.

"Yes" Tonic exclaimed as he too heard the end of the other transmissions.

"Arctic wolf this is central command."

"Central this is Arctic wolf."

"Arctic Wolf what is your current location and status?"

"Current location, check the satellites, status I'm alive and babysitting a couple of rookies."

"Less of the back chat Arctic wolf, we have a mission for you priority red, destroy the refinery at these co-ordinates, other units are already en-route."

"Understood."

Tonic and I just looked at one another and jumped for joy, this meant we'd be activated too. Then it happened, that god awful sound of bombs, as they fell and hit the ground.

The room shook, dust and bits of stone fell from the roof as the loud booms echoed off the walls, the lights swung back and forth before they went out, the equipment frazzled and sparked before exploding as the roof caved in around us, I heard Tonic scream as our paws missed one another by hairs as we tried to grab for one another but he was dragged into the darkness and then...it all went quiet.

Midnight

"Medic!"

Upon looking into the bunker that we had found whilst on our way to the refinery we saw rubble and crushed equipment and a black paw sticking out from under some of the rubble. I yelled for a medic and got the rest of my team down to me to help. Slowly but surely we removed the rubble stone by stone, the paw became an arm, the arm then became a head and shoulder. We worked as hard and as fast as we could to get the body out hoping that he was still alive.

However it wasn't until we got the first one out that we quickly discovered a second one, so again we dived in as the medic attended to the first one that we had rescued. The second one was a little trickier but we soon got him out too and again handed him over to the medic. The medic called for a helicopter which arrived a little later than from its ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) but we soon found out they had been tailed by fighters which the air force soon took care of.

After helping get the pair onto the chopper we set about getting back on track to our target, the refinery we'd lost time and needed to make up for it so we picked up the pace. When we finally got there I spotted a column of tanks on our far left also pulling up and sighting the refinery.

Rusty

I had not long gotten into a comfy chair when the alarm sounded again, as if I don't get enough flying hours as it is.

"All pilots report to briefing room, all pilots to briefing room"

I sat down in the briefing room and the captain of the ship a large brown furred otter began the quick briefing.

"A medic has called for a med-evac that means heelo air support, which as you all know means enemy fighters and hell for the chopper pilots since they're going up unarmoured and unarmed, I need three of you to escort the heelo to the location and back again. This is non-negotiable, Rusty, Bret, John, you drew the short straws; get your planes on the deck and in the air ASAP."

The three of us stood up and sighed as we made our way to the locker room and started pulling on our life jackets and parachutes and grabbing our helmets before making our way upstairs to the hangers to collect our planes.

"Mental note book extra vacation time for extracurricular missions." Bret laughed

The handlers got our planes rearmed and onto the lifts and brought them up onto the deck with us beside them and took them over to the launch areas.

"I'll see you two in the air." I called out to them as I got into my cockpit whilst the ground crews removed the tags and covers and began putting on the fuel pods and pumping fuel into the tanks and got me ready for take-off.

"White Knight eleven, you are clear for cat one, stand by launch"

"Roger tower, White Knight eleven, taxi cat one."

Once I had taxied along the black top and had settled onto the catapult I did my final checks whilst the blast shield lifted up behind the exhausts to my engines and took the brunt of the heat and flames that raged from my engines as they powered up.

"Knights one two and one four are on the cats and ready to go."

"All White Knights from the tower, you are clear for launch."

"White Knight eleven roger launching." I saluted to the Otter stood outside my jet and watched as he ducked to avoid my wing as it shot over his head. The force of my engines and the pull from the catapult had my cheeks rippling in seconds as I pulled up and felt the Gs.

"White Knight eleven flight restrictions cancelled continue on mission over."

"Tower White Knight eleven, roger."

We took to the sky and the helicopter was soon trailing behind us. Once we left the safety of the air defence umbrella of the fleet it was a whole new ball game.

"Ok White Knights we're now in the enemy's back yard, go weapons hot."

After removing the guard I flipped the switch for my weapons.

"White Knight eleven, weapons hot."

"White Knight fourteen, weapons hot."

"White Knight twelve, weapons hot."

"Ok boys let's turn and burn." We rolled to the left and were soon on our way to the target area. However all the peace and quiet we were experiencing wasn't to last too long.

"White Knight eleven, this is White Knight fourteen, I've got spots on my radar, could be tangos over."

"This is White Knight twelve, confirm White Knight eleven, I have four bogies bearing one, four two, niner one zero, at two hundred miles and closing fast."

"Think they know about the chopper?" I too checked my radar.

"Most likely"

"Ok, White Knight fourteen, take tail end Charlie and stay close to the chopper, White Knight, twelve fly ahead and secure the airspace for the extraction, I'm going after the bogies."

"Rusty you'll never make it alone."

"No names White Knight twelve now do your job, that's an order!"

The other two jets split off and headed in different directions, meantime I lined myself up with the direction those bogies were coming in from and set off at top speed.

"This is White Knight fourteen, have found the chopper and have begun escort to the zone."

"This is White Knight twelve, airspace over zone secured."

I continually checked my radar, they were still there, all four of them, staying exactly on course surely they'd seen me by now. Just as that thought went through my head my missile alarm went off.

"Warning, missile lock, Warning, missile lock" after throwing the jet around a bit and two boxes of flares I lost the missile and decided I had already had enough. I selected my asraams and locked onto two of the enemy aircraft, long before I made visual contact.

"Missiles locked in, fox three, fox three." I pushed the weapons button twice and two missiles shot off into the distance.

Soon there were two flashes behind some clouds and two of the spots on the radar vanished.

However there was no time to celebrate, just when I thought the other two would turn tail they changed direction and were heading off towards the chopper.

"Oh no you don't. White Knight fourteen this is White Knight eleven, bogies headed your way two of them."

"Roger White Knight eleven."

I chased after them as Bret turned his aircraft around to meet them head on.

"This is White Knight fourteen, have engaged enemy targets, confirm SU27s." I watched as one of the enemy jets manoeuvred behind Bret and was trying to lock him up. Bret after noticing thrashed his plane around diving and climbing and rolling to throw off his pursuers, they had double teamed him and were playing cat and mouse with him all over the airspace.

"White Knight fourteen, hold on, I'm two minutes away." I said.

"Come on White Knight eleven, these guys are right on my tail." I could hear Bret's missile alarm going off but knew they wouldn't fire; they were toying with him, trying to freak him out. Then it happened.

"White Knight eleven, he's coming in for guns, I can't shake him!"

"Hold on, I'm almost there, stay calm."

"He's gonna get me man!"

"Hold on, I'm trying to get a lock."

"Jesus, RUSTY KILL HIM!"

It was then I saw it, the stream of red and then Bret's plane breaking up into little pieces before it caught flame and spiralled towards the ground. Growling I locked onto the other two enemies and quickly shot them down too.

"White Knight eleven, fox three, fox three." Two more missiles shot from under me and obliterated my enemy. I didn't even take a pass to see where they had landed or if the pilots had bailed, they killed my friend and I cared so little for them.

"This is the Jolly Green Giant, now over the zone, thanks for the escort guys, sorry you had to lose someone on this."

"Thanks JGG, we'll maintain air cover and escort you back to the carrier when ready."

Sabre

I stopped my tank column just over a ridge and I spotted the refinery instantly, damn was that place fortified, anti-armour, anti-air, mine fields, sniper towers, what the heck could they possibly have inside that place other than plasma.

I ordered my tanks to form a line and that we would wait a bit for the other units to arrive, after all I wasn't about to plough in there with anti-armour around, that would have been suicide.

Looking through the periscope I spotted one of the teams heading towards the refinery although it didn't appear to be much of a team, it was about five men strong. One specialist and four basic infantry.

'Yeah cuz that'll bring the place down.' I thought, I instructed my gunner to use the range finder to lock up the target if we needed to fire upon it anytime soon.

Skye

We walked up to our position from where we would be attacking the refinery I looked it over through my different visors. Man the tanks were gonna be in deep shit if they got too close, there again the air force wouldn't have much luck either unless we took out the triple A batteries first of all. I glanced back at my team, they were young, inexperience and tired from all the walking, they were in no fit state for fighting. Eventually I turned over and moved closer towards them to let them know what was going on.

"The place is heavily fortified, looks like it's gonna be difficult at best."

"What we gonna do sir?"

"Well we need to wait on the other team and the air support first."

The soldiers seemed to relax a little bit at my news, probably more from the thought that they wouldn't be doing this alone, I guess everyone likes the sound of armour and air support.

Midnight

After the helicopter left I gathered up my team once more and we hot pawed it to the refinery it took us a little longer due to our delay but we ended up at the top of the hill in record time, of course my two new snipers loved it but I was never one for the high ground. Looking over the place through their scopes they gave me the run down on the fortifications of the refinery and the positions of the other teams.

"Ok, I'm going to contact the other teams and we're gonna devise a strategy to take this place alright." I looked round and everyone nodded in time.

"This is Black arrow, to all friendly units in the area."

"This is Arctic wolf reading you loud and clear."

"This is scorpion one, reading you loud and clear."

"This is White Knight eleven, loud and clear."

"Ok, I think our best chance is to take out the guards in remote areas using snipers, take the triple A systems out and then have the air force take out the anti-armour systems then move in and storm the place.

Unless anyone else has a better plan that is?"

"This is Arctic wolf; we'll take care of the triple A."

"This is White smoke we can take care of the snipers and guards." Snow replied

"This is Scorpion one sounds like a plan."

"This is White Knight eleven, anything that gives me time to reload and refuel."

"Ok, then it's settled, the snipers will start, Arctic wolf and his team then move in with cover fire from my team. White Knight eleven and his squadron bombard the anti-armour and Scorpion one rolls in with the big toys."

The plan was set, but if it would go well or not, who knew?

Snow

We crawled through the long dry grass and stopped at the ridge setting up our positions I removed my sniper rifle from my shoulder and fixed the bipod and Scope to it as Ash got out his binoculars and helped me to set up.

"Wind four knots."

"Elevation, three metres."

I adjusted my scope as Ash instructed before turning on the night vision. As soon as I looked through the scope I could see guards walking back and forth along the gantries surrounded in green light.

"Loner, four degrees left, of the support pillar under the generator."

I took aim at the target and checked it out.

"Got him."

I put my finger on the trigger and took up the slack.

"Easy Snow, steady.....fire."

With a quick purt sound from my rifle the guard dropped like a filled sack.

"New target."

For the next twelve minutes we picked off the guards one at a time always when they were alone and in just enough time that none noticed the others were gone.

"Ok Midnight, guards are down."

"Have that. Arctic wolf you are a go."

"Understood."

Skye

"Ok let's go." I rounded up my team and swapped my rifle for my P90 as we moved in on the refinery. Everyone was quiet nervous even, I think we were all waiting for the enemy to open up on us but they didn't, which meant either they were waiting on us or the snipers did a good job.

"Hold up, you two follow me, you two find those triple A"

"Yes sir."

My team split up and that was when all hell broke loose. The snipers must have missed one because the next thing I knew, two of my rookies were chopped up by machine gun fire. The rest of us took cover behind a container that rattled as it was hit by bullets, we returned fire as best as we could but we couldn't get round to see the shooters.

"This is Arctic wolf, have come under heavy fire, request fire support."

Midnight

Within only five minutes of going in, the shit had hit the fan Arctic wolf and his team had been cut in half and pinned down and it was up to me to provide fire support. I put the mini gun down and took the 40cal chain gun off my back and set up the bi pod, before getting down in the dirt with the rest of my unit and began laying down some supressing fire.

"Arctic wolf stand by."

"Ok get those mortars and machine guns up, right now."

"White smoke, Arctic wolf needs sniper covering fire."

"White smoke?"

"White smoke come in, do you copy?"
