***Challenging Choices***

Anxiety bubbled and simmered with greater intensity within Algaryl with every additional step he climbed towards the rooms on the second floor of the Silver Dragon inn. Warmth seemed to flee the tips of his toes and fingers, allowing cold fear in. Quite ironical, that it was now his turn to climb the very steps that Istaryl had previously done so with him in his arms, undoubtedly facing the same conundrum.

That this wasn't proper. That curiosity shouldn't lead him astray.

And yet, a higher reasoning bested the both of them. He could not speak for Istaryl, his closest friend and the sole drake who he had shared intimacy with, but in his case, Undrethyl's knowledge was crucial. It made the difference between a first proper mating with the female he cherished, and an absolutely selfish and indulgent one where pleasure robbed him of all his control, and only freed him after he spent his seed.

"Are you sure of this?" Undrethyl asked him for the third time since he showed on the doorstep of his inn just before he was ready to settle for the night. "Lovemaking isn't about what is and isn't proper, nor does it care for the myriad of silly things that your fear turns into insurmountable worries. I believe that--"

"I should return to her and accept her invitation completely unprepared and oblivious to what mating implies?" For a moment, Algaryl's indignation with a passive approach to a future mateship blanketed his apprehension, making him believe that he truly made the right choice in coming here. Yet, no matter his pride, a part of him remained acutely aware that Undrethyl spoke the truth; that Azerra cherished him for who he was, not who he tried to be.

"She has expectations, Undrethyl," Algaryl said, sighing. "They all do."

The white drake remained silent, as solemn as the scar across his back, his tail ceasing its playful movements to instead curl inward in thought. As a former champion of his former tribe, he understood the weight of one's position. The obligations an outfit placed on the shoulders of its bearer, and the necessity to be what the others expected you to be. Like him, Algaryl chose to serve his tribe first and foremost, and such choices never went unnoticed.

Especially by one who wished to bind her life to his.

"You're still with me," Undrethyl observed when Algaryl's paw reached the summit of the staircase. Ahead, the red rug forked into three corridors, each flanked by the guest rooms of the inn.

"You're the only drake I trust," Algaryl said, blunt as ever.

"There is another," Undrethyl suggested yet again, causing the younger and smaller drake's claws to hook into the carpet.

"How could I ask such a thing from him?!" Algaryl shot in front of his companion to make sure he took notice of his snarl. "A mate is a mate, and he first shared his heart and himself with my brother. The only reason I came between them is because of my brother...because he always shared everything with me, even his mate..."

The wrinkles on his lips dissipated as his gaze sunk to the floor. "Can somebody love two mates equally, with the same intensity? Because I...I don't know..."

Undrethyl's hand clasped around his shoulder, his grip making him flinch from its surprising strength. "Ask him, not me. I'm just the--"

"One I came to," Algaryl said as his resolute eyes bore into the topaz colored ones of his friend, an ominous need pushing him forward into Undrethyl's arms. The white drake hugged him just as tight, whispering foreign words from the language of the tribe he had shed blood for. Algaryl knew not what they meant; only that they bore a sacred hue that demanded them to remain wrought in mystery.

"I trust you, Algaryl. I just hope you trust yourself as well." As soon as Undrethyl ended their embrace, Algaryl realized just how much he already missed his warmth and the gentle pressure of strong yet tender arms wrapped around him.

"Why would I be here otherwise?" To prove it to himself more than to Undrethyl, he grabbed the larger drake's hand and took a left towards his room. Undrethyl took great care in embellishing the Silver Dragon inn in such way that every drake felt comfortable within its walls. The corridors, although similar, were adorned with subtleties that hinted at the type of rooms they held. The corridor hosting the larger rooms meant for couples had paintings, tapestries, and symbols that suggested the unity of a couple, while the one meant for single drakes bore the tokens of professions usually performed by them.

The corridor leading to Undrethyl's room was his pride and joy, boasting the achievements of the Stillpine tribe and reserved for the more prodigious visitors.

"How would you know which room?" Undrethyl tested him, at which Algaryl smiled and opened the door of the second to last room.

"We're quite alike, you and I," Algaryl said, strolling into the dimly lit sanctuary of the white drake. Two almost spent candles smoldered on a counter on the right side of the window, the flame almost drowned in the pool of slipping wax. "We fill our room with the memories of what we are, not who we dreamed to be."

"Hmm," Undrethyl's rumbled in that throaty way of his, letting go of Algaryl's hand after a brief caress to head to the rinsing basin in the corner of his room. "Perhaps I spoke too soon in the stairway."

"Perhaps," Algaryl mouthed while looking around the room. Undrethyl kept the wood in his room well groomed and treated, but the true sum of his attention went to his impressive collection of furs, pelts, and cured hides that almost occupied the entirety of the floor. They were not disheveled and tossed about randomly, but arranged according to their color and usage.

In the middle, a bundle of fox pelts was tied into a comfortable roll that served as his pillow, and several thin hides made up his bedding, their fur short to keep him comfortable during the warm days of summer.

"Very well then," Undrethyl said as he shook his dried paws free of any errant water droplets. "Join me when you are ready."

Algaryl almost forgot about the reason of his visit until Undrethyl practically made him jump with that startling realization.

"If you're uncertain on how to proceed, it all starts with making yourself comfortable," Undrethyl took the lead in sprawling over his bed of lavish furs, tugging on his forest panther blanket with the tip of his tail to bring it in his reach.

"Lounge beside me," he invited the reluctant Algaryl by patting the fluffy, comfortable surface of the pelt. "Love isn't always discovered in what happens, but also in what doesn't happen."

What did that even mean? The cobalt drake scratched at the back of an ear, toes kneading at the velvety surface of the doe pelt underneath him anxiously. The short fur felt wonderful to his paws, and for a moment, he felt self-conscious about the dust he brought into Undrethyl's surprisingly clean and well-kempt room.

"I should...over there," he pointed at the water-filled basin with a crumpled linen towel beside it.

"Hah, proper like always," Undrethyl chuckled, then reached for a smaller, brown and tan pelt of a prairie hare which he slid over his lower regions. "You can have the Gloomshade stalker fur for a blanket, should you need one. It is slim and silky, perfect for your slender body."

"Hunted it yourself?" Algaryl tried to keep the topic away from the main event as he stepped into the water basin to rinse his paws. Many drakes cared little for the state of their room or dwelling, while for those such as him and Undrethyl, tidiness was a requirement, not mere comfort.

"Mmmmm," the white drake hummed, running his fingers over the claw marks across the right of his chest. "I was brash, eager to prove myself, and far too concerned with what the other thought of me. Had I waited another year..." Undrethyl trailed off to lie down on his back, hands under his head to keep his frills comfortable. "I would have had a much more boring tale of success to tell."

"So I should seize the moment, even if it can prove to be a mistake?"

"No choice you make is a mistake," Undrethyl turned his head to regard him with those calm eyes, full of patience and understanding. "Somebody else might have hunted the quarry I tracked until I felt ready enough to pursue it. Or I could have shared its location with my hunting party, trap it together, and slay it like the lowly beast it was instead of giving it a chance to fight back, like I intended to."

He turned away, a sigh escaping him while his pupils traveled from one of the tapestries adorning the ceiling of his room to another. "I did what I felt was right at the time, even if it could have cost me my life. Some drakes shy away from risks, but how else was I to know the full measure of my capabilities?"

Algaryl pondered on his words after he stepped out of the basin and dried his paws on the provided towel. Nervousness still kept his steps slow and rigid, but as soon as he settled on Undrethyl's wide bed and covered himself with his prized and surprisingly good smelling fur, his apprehension began to simmer down. He no longer felt naked, exposed, in need to prove a point, but sheltered and safe.

"That is what you must choose, hrrm?" the white drake pushed his makeshift pillow closer to Algaryl, so the two could share it. "We can rest together apart like we are now. Share a pillow, a blanket, our warmth, even. I could run my fingers up and down your ears, trace their subtle edges while I regal you with the stories of my scars you keep eying, all while you do nothing but enjoy yourself. Or you can return the favor and explore your partner just like I explore mine, mrrrrmmmmm."

His growl, filled with longing and enthusiasm alike, sent a chill down Algaryl's spine. His heartbeats picked up, his ear tips began to warm up, and no matter the thickness of his blanket, he couldn't help but feel that Undrethyl could somehow see the churn of emotions roiling within his gut. How was it that he allowed Istaryl to hold him, to stroke him, to kiss and lick and mate him without the slightest hesitation, yet Undrethyl unnerved him such?

Because he is much more like me, he realized. No matter his experience and beneath his confident façade hid a drake that found one too many reasons to avoid taking a mate, each more convincing than the other. Was that what would become of him, should he reject Azerra? That would remove all the doubt from his heart, along with all the mystifying feelings that he understood not one bit.

This can be what sets us apart, he thought while searching for his answer in Undrethyl's eyes. This one decision where I find out the true measure of my courage as well.

"I want to do this," he said before his verve faltered. "I wish to be the drake she deserves, one who understands the entirety of her instead of constantly feeling inadequate about that one missing experience."

"Inadequate, is it?" Undrethyl propped an elbow against the floor to rest his head against his fist. "Why? No drake is born with a firm notion of intimacy. It is something that you grow and nurture over time, like a Brightleaf tree."

"I have to start somewhere," Undrethyl decided, forsaking his coverings to crawl on his fours over to Undrethyl, stopping in front of him. "And I wished you to be my first--the first who I start with," he corrected himself just in the nick of time.

"Very well," the white drake said with utmost ease, pulling back to rest his neck and shoulders against his pillow, haunches spreading to the side to give Algaryl full control over his body. "Let's start with what you know. Pretend I'm her, if necessary."

"Pfft," Algaryl dismissed that ridiculous notion with a scoff. "I'm with you, not with her, but I would first rub her calves like this," he demonstrated by trailing his fingers along the inferior portion of Undrethyl's legs, over to his calves, until he reached his meaty haunches.

"And then pay close attention to the insides of her haunches while I approach her nethers, teasing her with the promise but never getting there. And of course, she won't be covered," he tossed away the hare pelt that hid Undrethyl's plump, cute slit from sight.

"Mrrr, very good," Undrethyl's eyes half closed while he basked in the pleasant caress of Algaryl's soft fingertips. "But you forget one thing, that she's not an idle sculpture."

"YIIIRP!" Algaryl cried out as the far stronger drake seized his arms and dragged him over himself, trapping him within his delightful embrace. It wasn't enough that his strong warrior's arms encircled his feeble-by-comparison torso, but his legs locked around his haunches, causing their slits to press and rub against each other from the slow, rocking motions of the white drake.

"She may seek to reassure you, to gain control, and to definitely arouse you."

Just like Algaryl proved his skills to him, so did Undrethyl gave him a sample of what he had learned. And by the ancestors, he was so much better than him! His body shifted with natural fluidity, and his devious tongue distracted him with an unexpected lick across the muzzle, enough for his hand to slip by unnoticed to his slit which he cupped like a prized possession.

"What now, Algaryl?" Undrethyl's shrewd gaze taunted him more than his words and probing, poking fingers that touched him in ways that not even Istaryl had revealed to him. "Does she have you cornered? Did she win?"

She did. She certainly did. Not quite the type to contest someone's lead, Algaryl moaned, huffed and whimpered sweetly while Undrethyl fondled the exterior of his virgin slit, slowly coaxing his member out of hiding.

"Maybe she's not interested in such trifling victory," Undrethyl's arms and legs suddenly fell to the side, freeing him. The hand with which he brought him such unexpected pleasure alighted on his lips, tongue swiping off droplets of his virgin juices while his eyes remained locked with his. "Maybe she expects you to make the next move."

"Like this?" Algaryl asked, straddling his companion to the best of his ability, feeling a little clumsy and unwieldy while leaning on his arms. Undrethyl sought to give his unsteady hind paws more room by bringing his legs around his right thigh and lower back, the toes of his paw playfully groping at the smooth, sensitive surface of his tail.

"Like that," Undrethyl replied, his low, hushed, almost reverent voice teeming with affection.

"You did everything right, Algaryl, for there are no wrongs in the intimate bond shared by two drakes. Only unexplored pleasures that will come to you in time," he spoke while fondling his left ear between his fingers, undoubtedly feeling the warmth pulsing through it.

"And now? Do I...enter you?" His heart hammered so relentlessly against his chest that his words seemed a distant whisper in a raging storm. He never expected to grow so quick, to throb so hard, to find the simple caress of Undrethyl so stimulating.

"Do you want to enter me now? Or not yet?"

In all this time, during which Algaryl panted from the effort it took to sustain his weight while constantly glancing behind to make sure their bodies were properly aligned, Undrethyl never broke eye contact with him. It was if the white drake focused fully on him, as if nothing else around him mattered.

Oh, how he wished he could be as serene and fulfilled as him! To not shudder from every joint, or feel almost dizzy from the intensity of one too many emotions. To be capable and in control and caress him as slowly and tenderly as he did. In his state, he couldn't accomplish any of that.

However, he could bury it all under the immense wave of pleasure that he experienced only once in his life, with a drake who surprised him in all the right ways.

It took the slightest motion of Undrethyl's hips, the briefest contact of his warm, smooth, slightly damp crevice against his eager tip, for instinct to wrestle control from Algaryl and plunge the entirety of his tapered member into the ubiquitous warmth of his partner. Those fiery, expressive topaz eyes were the last thing Algaryl saw before his eyelids shuttered so tight and his jaws clenched so tight his teeth hurt. Having never braved the depths of another drake, the sensation of having his cock constricted to such narrow, slightly shuddering, far too slick and hot space completely overwhelmed Algaryl, his weight slightly shifting to his fingertips to give him the extra fraction of an inch to ensure that all of him made it in.

"Kh...khhhrrrrrrr," a guttural moan thrummed within the depths of the young drake's throat, restrained by his too tight jaws. He was supposed to pull out, then thrust back in, and repeat that motion while paying close attention to the reactions and clues on setting the pace. Algaryl did neither of that, for it took all of his concentration to withstand the great and far too potent pleasure of being squeezed against Undrethyl's smooth walls by the very member which inhabited them.

How?! How could it slip his mind that Undrethyl's shaft would remain idle? And that it would entrap him in such nefariously blissful way? It barely grew an inch, yet even that was enough to impede his retreat, and ensure that there was no way out for him until he surrendered the one thing that he preserved all along for his intended.

His seed.

"I...I...I can't..." Algaryl huffed rather than uttered, his cheeks flushed with the effort to withstand the urge to pour his pent-up passion into any other but Azerra.

"Then don't," Undrethyl encouraged him, his paw gently flowing over his brow and ears. "Surrender, my darling. Don't fight it."

That was the last thing Algaryl wanted, to remain locked within his partner from his very first stroke with no way out, yet his instinct had other plans. With his cock firmly secured within the slit of another until their nether lips kissed, his seed took the cue to burst out of him and into the welcoming insides of his partner. Every subsequent spurt was guided out of him by the weak, gentle throbs of Undrethyl's shaft, by the paw that now cupped his neck, by the calf that pressed tighter against his back to flare the height of Algaryl's far too quick climax.

And what a climax it was! Completely unexpected and absurdly powerful, it made Algaryl stand on the very tips of his fingers and his hind toes to scratch madly at the floor while he grinded against Undrethyl's entrance, forcing their sensitive lips to rub against one another while their intertwined shafts rocked and bobbed within the slit they shared. The more warm, thick, sticky seed Algaryl pumped into his partner, the more unbearably sensitive his shaft turned, until it became too much to bear.

"Ghaaaaaah," a monstrous gasp fled Algaryl's muzzle, the one and only sound he managed while locked within that realm of unbridled ecstasy. Having fulfilled its greatest achievement, his body immediately gave in, causing him to collapse on the bigger, stronger torso of a drake who sheltered him in the most thorough embrace imaginable. His arms held him, his legs enclosed around him, and even his very tail wrapped around him, as if to treasure every part of him.

It was Undrethyl's eyes that Algaryl saw before he plunged into that too deep, too pleasurable darkness, and Undrethyl's eyes that now greeted him.

"I...I shouldn't have... It all happened...so quick..." Algaryl muttered, feeling himself pulled under the crushing waves of disappointment.

"You gave it your all." Undrethyl pulled him against his chest, his warmth, tender caress and gentle licks safeguarding him from every nefarious thought that might dare ruin this moment. "That is all that will ever matter to your future mate. I know, for I had a lot to make up for compared to her."
