Wynlinir huffed slightly as he climbed up the stone stairs, trying not to have to stop to catch his breath as he soldiered on. The elf always dreaded being summoned up to the high arcanist's quarters, not only did it take ages to make his way through the number of magical wards that he had set up but it also was an athletic experience that most of his students preferred not to go through. But it wasn't for them to make the old man come down to greet them so up the stairs he went as he wiped the sweat from his brow. It also didn't help but that he had to wear his ceremonial mage robes when he went to visit him, the heavy fabric adding what felt like fifty pounds to his frame as he continued to drag himself up those stairs.

As he finally reached the large wooden door Wyn used a small amount of prestidigitation in order to make himself more presentable and whisk away the sweat that that formed before stepping inside. "You called for me High Arcanist?" the elf asked, looking at the older but still spry human that sat behind the desk. He was ushered in and told to have a seat, Wyn doing so immediately. He waited there in silence for a minute as the wizard finished what he was writing, then looked over to the elf while taking the scroll and rolling it up.

"Artificer Wynlinir," the high arcanist greeted. "We have something that is coming in from the northlands that requires inspection; the adventurers messaged ahead and said that they had an item of significant magical strength that their mage couldn't decipher the meaning of. They're going to be here just after the sun goes down and I want you to be the one that investigates it to see if it's of any significance."

The elf was taken slightly back by the request, though he tried his best not to show it as he took a second to clear his throat while his mind formulated the proper response. "While I thank you for this assignment I'm wondering, with all respect, why you choose me?" Wyn asked, trying to remain as thoughtful of his words as possible. "I've only graduated from apprenticeship a few months ago and I'm sure there are other artificers or enchanters that would be more than willing to take on the case of such an item."

"Well I certainly appreciate you being upfront about such a thing," the high arcanist replied with a slight chuckle, which filled the elf with slight relief that he wasn't offended. "Most students in your situation would jump at the chance to get an assignment like this, although most elves I've worked with seem to have that same sense about them... in any case while normally you'd be right about such things this particular item requires a familiarity with draconic lore as well as being adept in their language. From what I've been told by your superiors you possess both those skills, correct?"

Wyn swallowed hard and nodded, the high arcanist doing the same before continuing. "Then it appears I have the right mage for the job," he stated as he reached over and handed Wyn the scroll he was just working on. "This is your assignment detail, you'll give it to the adventurer when they bring in the item so that they know you're the one they're to relinquish it too. You'll also have a small enchantment lab to use at your discretion that I included in the scroll."

The elf nodded and thanked the high arcanist for the job before excusing himself and leaving the tower. The way back down was far easier than going up and Wyn took the time to take a look at the scroll he had just received. It was essentially the orders that the elder mage had given him and not much else, not even the nature of the item that is being given to him. That meant that the only thing he knew was that the artifact being given to him today was going to be draconic in nature. Considering how much the dragons loved their trinkets and enchantments Wyn could be getting literally almost anything... which would likely mean that he was in for a long night as he went back to his room to prepare.

Finally the sun began to set and as the elf watched it go down from the waiting area he saw the cart in question crest the hill and head straight towards the academy. Though the cart itself was unremarkable Wyn knew it was the adventurer's that he was supposed to meet, the group walking alongside it. Everything from the way that they walked to the weapons and clothing they wore screamed a seasoned group and it was enough evidence for him to get out of his chair and go down to meet them. When he got to door and looked out he saw that he had been correct in his assertions as the cart rolled to a stop on the road that passed by and someone got out of the back of the cart holding something.

"You the one we're dropping this off with?!" the one wearing dented full-plate armor shouted as he and a woman in flowing but torn robes started to walk to the door, Wyn nodding in reply and handing him the scroll he had received prior. "Well looks like our message got through after all, glad we don't have to spend the night with it. When do we get paid for this thing?"

"If you'll just tear off the bottom part of the scroll and hand it to your local guild we've already sent your compensation there for safe keeping," Wyn replied with practiced ease as he continued to glance over at the woman. "If I may ask, is there any reason why you might not want to spend the night with it other than possibly be stolen from you?"

The warrior and the mage look at one another, then it was the mage that spoke up this time as she held out the item for Wyn to receive. "My counterparts were stating that something didn't feel right about the box," she stated as the warrior frowned deeply and looked away. "Of course as I'm sure you're aware things of an intrinsically magical nature tend to unnerve those who are not adept or sensitive to the arcane arts. Given how we came across the box it might also explain some of the resentment for having it around us."

"I'm telling you that huge dragon said something to us," The warrior replied angrily. "I don't know about you but I don't want to be cursed for all eternity by the dying breath of one of those evil creatures."

"Interesting..." the elf said as he took the item, which was a very interictally carved wooden box, from the mage's hands. "Could you perhaps tell me what you thought he had said."

Both mage and warrior tried their best to mimic what the dragon sounded like, and thought Wyn could tell that it was definitely draconic that was being spoken the garbled nature of the second-hand message made it impossible for him to tell what it could have possibly been. It appeared that the warrior grew more anxious to leave with every second so they shared a bit more small talk with how they came about such an item before leaving to go and pick up their pay from the guild. From their story it sounded like they had been coming back from aiding a village with a ghast problem and were suddenly attacked by a very large blue dragon that had almost claimed their lives with a sudden and unexpected attack. Through a little luck and a lot of skill though the party had grievously wounded the creature and then tracked it back to his lair, where they finished it off and took as much of its hoard as they could carry.

Wyn waved them off and watched them leave before he looked down at the item that he had just been given. While he could definitely sense the magic that came from it the box itself didn't appear to be the main source of it and a quick glance of his own noted that the wood was enchanted with abjuration magic. No doubt some sort of artifact that the dragon had grabbed from one of its raids, the elf thought as he went back inside. Though it was getting late he had already eaten earlier and was eager to see what his first real assignment as an artificer would bring him, and he immediately went up to the enchanter lab that he had been given to conduct his research.

When he got to the room he felt a tingle run through his body as he passed through the wards that had been set up in every area. They were on every lab in the building and designed to protect the rest of the academy should something they created or studied caused a problem. When he passed through the protective magics he found himself in a rather small room complete with only one enchantment table and a few shelves with ingredients he might need. It was an area made specifically for lone research projects and for the thin elf it was more than enough space for him as he put the box down on the enchantment table.

Almost immediately blue lines began to glow on the black stone where he had set the object, indicating a powerful magical aura to it as he got out his own personal artificer tools. It didn't take long for him to get through the initial lock that was on the box, just a matter of bypassing the abjuration spells and picking through the actual physical representation of it. Once he got past the initial layer but before he opened the item he put a quick ward around himself just in case there was a trap that he missed so that he would be protected from damage. Once he got his protections up he carefully opened the lid and looked inside, his eyes widening as bright blue light began to shine up from it immediately.

"Remarkable..." Wyn said as he put on his leather spell gloves before reaching into the box and withdrawing the copper canister. "I've never seen anything like this before." As he carefully turned the metal object around he could feel his hair starting to poof out from the static electricity as he read the draconic runes inscribed on it. "So long as my lightning has a single spark I will continue to live..."

When he uttered those words out loud the elf was surprised to see the copper plating slide away from its walls and revealed glass underneath it. With the barrier removed Wyn could see what the inscription had meant, what looked like living lightning danced within it as he continued to carefully hold the still copper ends. It was starting to become clear that this device wasn't just taken by a dragon, it was made by one for the express purpose of holding his breath weapon or something like that inside. That led to more questions; what means did the dragon use to do such a thing? For what purpose?

Wyn shook his head and gently took the tube to put it on a nearby rack to hold until he could get more tools. Not only was the item itself a great discovery but the inside of the box also had a number of draconic runes inside of it that appeared to be hand-carved by the claws of the creature itself. He took off his gloves and left the circle of protection he put around himself in order to grab more items that he can use to investigate the strange items. A sense of excitement and pride filled the elf as he started to look around for the tools he wanted, knowing that if he could properly decipher a dragon artifact it would not only increase his general standing but also get him further regarded as the one to turn to for the research of such items.

The elf was so preoccupied with his thoughts of grandeur he didn't even notice that arcs of electricity had shot out between the copper ends of the tube and the stand that it was on. The enchanted material began to glow red as it faltered from the magical and electrical energy that was being pushed into it. When Wyn finally did turn around it was when the class cylinder fell forward and quickly began to roll forward towards the edge of the table. The elf let out a cry of alarm and dropped the gear he had been holding to make a desperate leap forward and catch the artifact before it was smashed onto the floor. As his thin fingers wrapped around the item he felt an instant feeling of relief, but that was short lived as the copper made contact with his bare skin.

At first Wyn believed that he was about to die as he felt his entire body start to tingle as his brain flashed to the thought of the lightning coursing through his body until he was a fried corpse on the ground. Though the tingle did begin to intensify it wasn't nearly to the point where he felt like he was about to inspire, but what he did sense as the canister began to vibrate in his hands was not only a powerful outpour of magic but also the alien presence of another creature. The pieces quickly began to fall into place on what this might have been as he tried to get up to put the object back in the box; the blue dragon had somehow created a vial of his own essence, either filled beforehand or with it being transferred there via a dead man's switch in case of his death like at the hands of the adventurers that slain him. Either way it wasn't a good thing, but as the elf tried to pull himself up his muscles tensed and seized, falling to the ground before he finally let go of the capsule.

The sound that came out of the magical item was almost deafening as one of the copper tops popped off of it and released the contents into the air. The sound of laughter could as the booming of the thunder died down as the lightning coalesced into a familiar shape. "That didn't take very long at all!" the creature boasted as it flew around the room before floating in front of the fallen artificer. "And I have you to thank for that... I suppose in exchange for freeing me so that I may slaughter those that did the same to me, as well as their friends and family, I'll let you live. You're welcome."

It was clear from the malevolent tone in the voice that this dragon was clearly evil in nature, something that likely came with the fact that it had blue scales and attacked the adventuring party. Now it was free to reign terror on those that had had wronged it as it flew to the nearest wall to escape... only to get zapped himself and fall backwards into the room. Wyn stayed on the floor and watched as the ancient creature attempted to free himself several times, bouncing back and forth on the warded walls before he let out a roar of frustration. Though it was nearly as loud as when it had made its initial escape, it was unlikely that anyone heard it due to the same magical wards that thwarted the creature in his attempt to free himself from the room.

"No!" the lightning dragon crackled as he banged against the wards once more. "I did not do all that preparation and planning just to be trapped in some alchemist chamber!" Wyn had to roll out of the way to avoid a bolt of lightning as the electricity arched in several places, knocking things down as the elf covered his head. Finally the storm seemed to settle and the elf carefully opened his eyes, only to have them widen in shock as the muzzle of the creature was mere inches from his face.

"Disable these wards..." the creature growled as tiny arcs of electricity shot from him to shock the elf slightly. "Or I will make you suffer in ways you can't even possibly fathom yet."

"I... I can't..." Wyn replied fearfully. "Only the high arcanist or one of his apprentices have the power to do that. If you'll permit me to leave... maybe I can find one to help..."

"And give you the ability to leave here to warn others?" the dragon replied with a laugh. "I don't think so. I've changed my mind about the not killing you, perhaps in due time someone more helpful will come in to check on you and I can make my escape then."

The dragon reared back and a ball of pure energy formed in his maw Wyn shouted a plea to stop and held up his hands in a feeble attempt to defend himself as he looked away from his impending destruction. As the air crackled around him the elf waited for his body to get disintegrated, but as the seconds ticked by and he wasn't torn apart by magical lightning his terror began to turn to confusion. Finally he mustered the strength to open his eyes and see what had happened that caused the dragon to stop with his murderous intent. What he saw was the lightning creature starting intently at the hand that had been held out in front of him, except that it wasn't the hand of an elf that Wyn had.

As the elf pulled his hand closer he wiggled the thick, scaly digits that had become his fingers in order to confirm in his mind that they were in fact his. Though he had completely control over it the formerly elven hand looked more like the paw of a dragon, complete with claws that tipped the fingers and heavy leathery pads on the underside that looked like extremely thick callouses yet were soft to the touch. This revelation seemed to be enough for the creature to not only calm down but look at the mutated hand with the same interest. Wyn had no idea how this happened... until he looked over at the empty copper canister and was hit with a revelation.

"I briefly touched your essence..." the elf realized as his researcher brain kicked in. "In your current state it's looking for a new body... and has very potent transformative capabilities..."

"Well isn't that wonderful," the creature replied. "But you seem unsure, let's put it to the test shall we?"

Before Wyn could say or do anything the creature's hands clasped around his head and despite them being made of only energy they felt extremely real to the elf as he let out a shout. His body writhed as he felt the essence of the dragon seep into his skin and past his skull, slithering its way into his brain as he felt the flesh begin to harden and reshape. Strangely other than some mild discomfort of having his head completely engulfed by those large paws he felt no pain, his body accepting the magical energy rather than trying to fight against it and causing him harm. As more of it flowed into him and he began to feel his face push out into a muzzle he began to see something in his mind's eye...

Suddenly his perspective what not his own, he was looking through the eyes of a massive creature that towered over the ground. When he caught a glimpse of himself he saw jagged blue scales and a draconic tail swishing about and knew he was in the body of the one who had escaped his prison. Though he had no control over his body he could sense what the dragon, who called himself Zanzibar, was thinking as he rolled around on a pile of gold. The thoughts were not good... the dragon was filled with a desire to increase his hoard through any means necessary and above that saw the lesser races of elves and men as his playthings. This creature cared nothing for anything but himself, even to the point he would sacrifice others to create the item that would ensure he would live on should he be slain.

Just as quickly as the thoughts and images came to him the lightning dragon disengaged from him, leaving the elf panting as his vision blurred and was filled with unusual colors. As Zanzibar retreated back a bit it gave Wyn a change to assess the damage done to him and brought both his changed and unchanged hand up to his face. Even without the dragon's influence his head was still morphing, feeling his teeth grow longer and sharper in his new muzzle as it continued to expand out. When he slid his hands over his altered head he found his hair had changed as well, the long locks transformed into a mane that spilled down his neck while a pair of horns began to push out on the sides of his head.

"What... what have you done to me..." the elf said in a panic in his new deeper voice. "Stay away from me, you monster! I've seen your thoughts and will never let you leave this place!"

There was a few moments of silence as the lightning creature continued to hover there, and though it was hard to see Wyn's transformed eyes widened when he saw a smirk forming on the dragon's face. "I've seen your thoughts as well... dragon lover." Wyn's jaw dropped slightly but was unable to form any sort of response to the accusation... mostly because it was true. "Looks like you're going to enjoy this after all. I need a body and you're a little elf slut that loves dragon cock so much you made it your field of study, I think we both win on this arrangement."

Before the elf could protest this the creature was once more on him, only this time the malevolent force darted behind him before knocking him down onto his hands and knees. Wyn tried to recover by standing back up but a heavy weight on his back prevented him from doing so as a pair of thick forearms appeared in his vision near where his own arms were. As the electrical energy of the creature settled on him the elf's robes, which had already suffered some damage, were disintegrated by it and fell away as Wyn felt a powerful tingle on his back. Soon the elf was completely naked as he began to feel the skin of his backside quiver and twitch, Zanzibar growling in approval as the transformation began once more.

Even though Wyn tried to fight off the mutations the dragon had been exactly right in his assertions; deep down the elf had lusted after the creatures he thought as majestic and even befriended a few of them in order to be close to their mighty forms. Though he had attempted to pass it off as arcane curiosity he knew it was more than that and spent many nights in his room pleasuring himself to the thought of those handsome males. It was that desire that Zanzibar was taking advantage of as the elf felt something pushing between his cheeks, feeling the burn of embarrassment as he groaned slightly as the lightning creature manifested a cock to slide into his hole. Even though Wyn knew he should be trying more actively to pull away or fight he couldn't help but feel good as the head popped past the tight ring of muscle and began to slide almost effortlessly inside him.

As soon as the shaft of the creature began to spread him open he nearly fell forward as something began to happen to his own cock, tilting his head down to see that the normally small maleness that hung between his legs suddenly swelled with growth. As pleasure began to radiate from his groin as well as his rear his member continued to mutate, growing into something far more draconic as the sensitive flesh grew ridges and turned blue and white. The deeper the lightning dragon thrusted inside the transforming elf the bigger his cock got, and for a while it looked almost comical on him until his thighs and rear began to balloon with muscle from Zanzibar's essence pushing its way into them as well. At this point the changing elf wouldn't be able to stand on two feet if he wanted to as he began to feel his spine stretch, snaking out into a forming tail as he felt the ethereal muzzle of the creature press against the back of his already changed neck.

Another surge of pleasure hit Wyn and he could hear the dragon chuckle as his still elven arms shook from the increasing weight of his back, but before the lust could consume his thoughts completely a realization caused the elf to snap out of it. The laughter he heard wasn't outside his ears, which had fanned out from their typical pointed state to the fin of a blue dragon, but it was inside his mind. It dawned on the elf that Zanzibar wasn't just transforming his body... he was possessing it as well! The elf mentally cursed himself at how he had been so blind... and now his mind raced on how to fix it.

"There is no fixing it," the dragon's voice echoed in his head. "Soon your body will be mine and I will use it to regain my power and leave this place. Then revenge will be mine!"

Even though Wyn used his newfound determination to try and continue to resist he could tell that the dragon's assertions were not false, already he could feel his lower body growing numb as his feet, which had exploded with growth into a huge set of dragon hindpaws that were almost bigger than his chest, began to move of his own accord. At this point anywhere the dragon had corrupted was likely mostly under his domain, which left him with just his chest and arms. Those didn't have long though as Zanzibar sensed his rebellion and moved his ethereal lightning arms to push against them. Almost immediately they began to swell with muscle at the contact and Wyn's draconic face twisted in pure bliss from the sensation that spread from them. There was still some control left in them though and when Wyn looked out he saw something that could possibly help rolling around where the dragon had initially destroyed the cupboard.

"What do you think you're doing?" Zanzibar asked as the elf took all the willpower he could muster and dragged his transforming body over towards the protection circle he had created before, digging furrows into the stone ground as his fingernails turned to claws on his previously unaffected hand. "You think your little spell will save you? I can read your thoughts, that's just designed to protect against physical damage. I know that you are enjoying this, why not just succumb? I'll even let you ride around and rut a male dragon or two to satisfy your urges... after I had my fill of females."

The elf just let out a low growl as the color in his iris began to bleed out of one eye, transforming into the coloration of a blue dragon as a smile formed on his muzzle despite himself. "I know it's a long shot," Wyn grunted as the lightning dragon's pounding in his muscular rump grew more intense, even as the lightning essence body behind it dissipated from soaking into the elf. "But I was hoping that you would sense my focus on the ring... so you wouldn't see this."

Just as Wyn felt his control slip from his fingers he managed to roll himself over to the left, using his lengthening neck to reach over and grab a glass bottle with his extended tongue. He had just enough reach in order to grab it and with a mighty effort the former elf took the bottle and used his head to slam it down onto the stone floor. The glass shattered and a bitter liquid filled Wyn's maw before it erupted into a cloud of purple smoke, quickly filling the room and engulfing the transforming dragon. The mental assault on his mind as well as the ghostly rutting he was getting from behind quickly ceased as he felt the new magic seep into his body.

A few seconds later the control that had been wrestled away from his body had been returned to him, but at that point the elf was so exhausted he let his limbs fall to the floor as they began to shrink and revert back to their normal state. Though he wasn't sure he swore he could hear Zanzibar howling both inside and outside his skull, but at this point the toll that the possession and the magic used to counter it had taken its toll on his psyche. Despite his efforts to stay awake Wyn found himself sinking into darkness, his last thoughts hoping that when he woke up again he wouldn't be staring through the eyes of a dragon...
