#4 of Beastly

Been sitting on the first draft of this for nearly two weeks, but finally managed to get the energy to edit and revise it for a final draft.

This is another short story set in my work in progress universe of Beastly. This time we go back to Lorenzo's side of things but a few decades back about two of them. Dig a little deeper into Lorenzo's side of Redwood a city full of life, fun, and crime lots of it. Get a little glimpse of how Lorenzo used to be before age caught up with him!

"Please, I'll pay. I promise I'm sorry alright, just don't hurt me!" The Heavyset Otter exclaimed, Backing up as far as he could. His back pressed against something hard and scratchy behind him and he gulped as he realized he couldn't move any further. He felt a slick sheen of sweat emitting from his pores, Despite the small amount he had run. He could feel his Large gut moving up and down in rhythm with his heavy breathing. His dark Forest green colored buttoned up shirt Wasn't fully Buttoned, the Lowermost button being open and allowing his belly to hang slightly over the top of his Tan Khaki pants.

Lorenzo walked closer towards him, shaking his head and waving a finger at him. His Walk was slow and deliberate, He had his other free hand in one of the pockets of his Blue Dress pants. The silk material was soft and there were many times Lorenzo couldn't help but run a paw through the Material. He tried his best though to make sure his suit was always pressed and looked nice. He could easily afford to pay somebody though to do it, one of the perks of being part of the largest gang on the eastern seaboard of the United states.

"Hey that wasn't very nice you know, here i was trying to be a good friend and you walk out without even saying goodbye to your good pal, you hurt me" Lorenzo placed both his paws on his hand as if he had just been stabbed, despite the wounded expression on his face, he couldn't hide the cocky smirk that emitted from the corner of his lips.

"I.. I don't have your money, give me another week!" The heavyset otter, leaned against the brickwall behind him as if maybe if he pushed hard enough he could sink into the Brick wall like some kind of Superhero.

"Now, now don't play dumb with me, I know your business has been booming as of late and my wonderful boss has been so kind to keep your Payments the same, now the least you could do is Welcome me with open arms, Maybe even take me out to dinner" Lorenzo ran a hand through the fur on top of his head. His "Hair" was slightly gelled and combed back, but a few strands of fur couldn't help but try to rise up, something Lorenzo was prone to happening. He hated his fur being so unruly and unkempt he had an image to represent.

The heavyset otter could feel his Wobbling cheeks turning red, a mix of anger and humiliation. "I've had enough with your damn gang, a bunch of Wild animals with their mangy mutt coming to collect from me." The otter spat those words out, and Lorenzo could feel himself growing more irritated by the minute.

"Who the hell are you calling a mangy mutt!" Lorezno growled under his breath, but tried his best to calm down. He was reminded of the last Payment he had been sent to receive, he had ended up sending the guy to the hospital and that had been the end of payments for a while as the place closed shortly afterwards. It was a shame really too, They had the nicest flowers too.

"What else would you like to be called, you're great at following orders, you're just a bully and a damn mutt who.." Lorenzo quickly strided forward slamming a paw on the side of the brick wall

next to the Otter's head. He was grinning, but it was more of a manic grin, his mouth twitching slightly while his eyes were open wide.

"I'm sorry, i couldn't hear you, i'm such a mutt and all it's really hard for my brain to understand what you're saying" Lorenzo leaned over the otter, continuing to use his hand for support against the wall. The otter only let out a defeated squeak. His mouth opened and closed like some fish out of water.

"Hey you!" A loud and deep voice came from Behind Lorenzo and he turned around slowly. Blocking the front of the Alleyway was a large And very well endowed Bear. The bear had on a simple White button up shirt that seemed ready to burst from the Hefty Bear's size. His arms were like tree trunks, Rolled up to his elbows with the muscles exposed despite the thick and curly Brown fur over his body. The Biceps looked like two great large Bowling balls, The top of his chest was exposed, with his Breasts looking like two great large melons that seemed to have been drained of juice, laying flat against his broad chest. He was a tall one too, taller than most other bears Lorenzo had seen, He easily was a few inches taller then the Six and a half feet tall Wolf.

The bear's body was large, but it seemed to be mostly Muscle and thick mass, instead of fat. Lorenzo felt not fear, but a bit of annoyance and excitement inside of him. He wasn't sure if it was his Predatory instincts, His Cocky nature, or maybe both That made him feel this way. He gave out a small chuckle before turning his back towards the Otter who had a defiant smile on his face.

"Was this your idea?" Lorenzo pointed behind him and he knew the answer before the Restaurant owner even opened his mouth.

"Sir, I'd like you to meet the newest addition to my team. With all of the Booming business I have been able to afford Security for the restaurant, I believe while he is loud and unruly at times he more than makes up for it with his contributions towards my restaurant. Maybe you'd like to see for yourself?"

"Heh, you know what i think i might take you up on that offer, but i do have a favor to ask of you." Lorenzo started unbuttoning his Suit, taking the time to fold it neatly against one of his arms.

"And that would be?" The Otter couldn't help but raise an eyebrow curiously at Lorenzo, He expected him to beg for his life, pleading to be let go. The otter was more than willing to of course after Lorenzo was given a few spanks for all the trouble he had caused the Owner. He was a good religious man though and he was always willing to look the other way, But he was also human and he couldn't help but feel the bubbling of excitement inside of him as he waited to see Lorenzo ask for his forgiveness.

"When i win, you pay your payments on time plus i'm allowed free dinners for the headaches you've given me" The otter mouth dropped and he sputtered his surprise. What the hell was wrong with this wolf!? Here he was being surrounded by this large behemoth of a bear and he was talking about getting free dinners? Did he think he was going to get out of her without any issues, that he would actually win? The Bear has cost the Otter a small fortune, but it would be worth it in the long run.

The Otter snapped back to his senses though and he had to snort back laughter as he spoke. "Sure IF you win, I'll pay everything I owe right now and I'll even give you free dinner's anytime you want. I'd be less worried about free dinner's though and more worried about who's going to pay for your funeral though"

Lorenzo snorted. "You just let me worry about that, I don't think I'm going anywhere anytime soon though. Oh and one more favor?" Lorezno handed him his suit before rolling up the sleeves on his white button up shirt. "Hold my suit, I'd hate to get blood on my good suit" Lorenzo left the confused Otter and walked calmly and cooly toward the front of the alleyway, The bear in front of him grinned exposing his bad fangs and breath that smelled heavily of fish and alcohol.

"Why hello there little pup, Did you come to beg to run away with your tail between your legs?" The bear laughed, a deep bellow of a laugh that would probably have made any lesser Anthro run off, but it only made Lorenzo's body tingle with excitement, this was going to be a good fight.

"Aww but if i did that, I wouldn't be able to show my appreciation for such Welcoming hospitality, I'm so touched that guy there thought of giving me a nice warm welcome and i always like to return the favor in full"

"You're really nuts aren't you, Well whatever, guess you've been rolling around in the dirt for too long. Must have snapped something loose, I guess the least I can do is give ya a big old bear hug!" The bear dived at Lorenzo, his steps heavy and unbalanced as they struggled to carry the thick and heavy bear.

Lorenzo didn't waste any time, he slid on the ground underneath of the Bears Legs, taking a moment to kick at one of his legs. Causing the bear to curse angrily before slamming onto the ground, his head smacking into one of the trash cans littered around the Wide alleyway. Lorenzo stood up, shaking his head as he noticed the scuff mark on his pants as he patted at them before turning towards the otter.

"I should have told you, you have to pay for my clothes too, But i'm a man of my word" Lorezno grinned towards the otter a moment before he felt himself violently lifted off the ground, A pair of strong and thick arms squeezing his sides.

"You cocky son of a bitch, didn't your mama ever tell you it's rude to turn your back on your

host, I still have so much to show you and i'd hate for you to leave wanting" The bear's voice was more of a growl now as he held Lorenzo in place. Lorenzo struggled against the bear's grip, but the bear seemed unwilling to let go. He could feel his grip growing tighter and Lorenzo could only grunt a bit as he felt the arms digging more and more into his chest, He could feel something thick against his butt and he could feel himself growing angrier. Was that his...? Was this guy getting off on...

"Keep struggling little pup, I bet you never expected to be shown how much a little runt you are, I bet your mama was" Lorenzo snarled angrily, as he slammed a foot as hard as he could against the Bear's Balls. For a moment he thought his chest was going to explode from the pressure, but then he heard a loud pained sound of surprise before he fell to the ground.

"You motherfucker, I'm going to..." The bear couldn't finish his sentence, he was doubled over in pain, tears in his eyes while he gritted his teeth.

Lorenzo didn't give him time to recover, he ran at him with his left hand held back before he let it go with all the force he could muster right into the bear's exposed face.

CRUNCH

The meaty sound of something breaking could be heard by everyone and a moment later the bear was howling with pain. Blood trickling down his nostrils. He stomped his feet against the asphalt of the ground, Lorenzo swore a small crack that hadn't been there before had formed. The bear's body was trembling heavily and The bear let out a loud growl while his eyes seemed to grow bigger, spittle emitting from his mouth as he dove at Lorenzo again. This time was different though, his movements weren't as predictable and Lorezno couldn't guess where he was going.

The bear began to slash his blunted claws widely in the air as he rushed at Lorenzo and Lorezno tried his best to move back moving back a second too late, as he felt a hot searing pain against one of his cheeks, which caused him to flinch back for a moment. He could feel something warm flow down the left side of his face and he could feel himself getting agitated.

"Alright i'll give you that one, Honey boy" Lorezno qupped but the bear didn't seem to pay him no mind, His breathing erratic and heavy. Lorenzo needed to do something, This bear didn't seem in the mood to talk and Lorezno wasn't sure if he would be able to keep this up for too much longer with the bear's anger fueled blows.

Lorenzo took a moment to wipe at the blood flowing down his face smearing it lightly against his paw. He cracked his neck back and took a moment to stretch. The bear didn't seem willing to wait and once more he rushed at Lorenzo letting out a loud roar which caused the otter behind him to yelp in fear. Lorenzo wanted to slap the owner across the face, it was his fault for not simply paying his bill. Lorenzo partly wished he'd just let the bear go wild and take care of the

owner, but some part of him knew he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he did that.

More so he didn't want to disappoint his boss, again. Lorenzo looked around him for something and he noticed the lid of the Large aluminum Trash can that had been knocked over during the fight and grinned to himself as he thought of a plan. Granted he wasn't exactly book smart, but he was great at street smarts and to Lorenzo that's all that mattered. He quickly bent down and picked up the lid, the bear charging towards him with all of his might, the loud sound of his footsteps pounding heavily Against the asphalt growing closer and closer.

Lorezno threw the lid like a frisbee right towards the Bear's head, Most people would have ducked but the bear was too enveloped in his rage and the lid smacked at his face with a soft thunk sound. It wasn't much towards the bear, but it did exactly what Lorezno had hoped, it bought him some time. He didn't waste any time as he dived Slid towards the bear's legs once more. This time he didn't kick his legs though and instead as he showed up behind the bear he pulled his pants down. The bear tried to turn around but instead tripped over his own pant legs and fell heavily. Yes! Lorenzo could hear snarling from the bear as it struggled to set up, it's thick and weighted body making it much harder and Lorezno took the time to kick with all his might at the Bear's face as the bear's body shuddered before he lay there tongue hanging out.

Lorenzo began to breath heavily, As the fight's effects began to weigh on him. Not one of his longest fights, but it had taken a bit more out of him then he would have liked to have admitted. He was going to need to do some more sparring with the larger members of the gang. As he walked by he noticed the large Bear had on a simple pair of white undies and he gave a small whistle as he noticed the bear's massive package looking down at his own crotch area before rolling his eyes.

"It's not that big" he muttered to himself before walking towards the Owner, who bowed his head deeply towards the Wolf. he was going to die, his last hope was gone he had no choice but to pay him off, if the wolf would even let him get away simply with paying off his bill. "Please forgive me, I'm so sorry, don't kill me!" The otter's voice came out high pitched, and his body trembled with fear, like flowers swaying in the wind.

Lorezno reached into his pockets for A cigarette and lit it up taking a deep inhale of the sickly sweet scented smoke before releasing it through his mouth, blowing the smoke right in the otters face. "Oh quit your whining and get up, Winning a fight's no fun if you don't have an audience" Lorenzo tapped the ashes of his cigarette right beside the otter, through his own Legs that felt made more of gelatin then Bone and meat got to his feet.

"I'm sorry, I was so stupid, very very stupid i beg for your forgvness" The otter looked at the Crumbled heap of bear and a horrible thought went through his mind. Had he just witnessed a murder!? "Y-you killed him and now you're going to kill me, aren't you?" The otter couldn't help but shake once more and he felt Lorezno's hand as it lay on his shoulder.

"Do I look like a killer, you know what, don't answer that, he's fine. He might need some medical attention but from what I've seen he should be fine without it. He might want to look into some anger management though, I know a great guy if he needs one. You know his name?"

"R-Ricardo, he said his name was" The otter's voice was low and trembling. "He said he could take care of my problem for a price. He wanted all the liquor I had. I thought he'd take it and run away but he drank it right in the place. I can't believe he was able to hold off that inside. I thought he'd pass out or get sick, but he kept drinking and drinking until he drank just about my whole stock. I thought he'd be able to take care of my problem, But you're a freak of nature"

"Ricardo huh, i'll have to remember that name. He's a great fighter. I'd like to see what he's like when he's not drunk, I bet he could give me a great fight" Lorenzo smiled to himself, he was sure he'd never see this guy again, but the city of Redwood was full of surprises after all. He returned his attention back towards The Otter. "Now then about those payments.."

"I'll pay, I'll pay here, take the money and here's a little extra" The otter shoved a fistful of twentys and a few hundreds in the wolf's hand and he took a moment to count it before handing back the extra towards the otter.

"W-What are you doing" The otter scratched at his head and Lorenzo gave a deep annoyed sigh as if it was the most obvious thing.

"I don't need the extra, you gave me too much" Lorenzo rubbed at the back of his head. He wasn't trying to be kind to the Otter or anything. He just didn't like people trying to give him handouts. He learned a long time ago at the end of everything people had to rely on themselves.

The otter looked at the money then back up at Lorenzo, as if thinking this was some kind of trick. He grabbed at the money with such speed, Lorenzo was almost surprised this overweight otter could muster such speed. "Yes well thank you for leaving me something" The otter managed to mutter under his breath, barely audibly.

Lorenzo couldn't help but smirk at him before leaning in closer towards the restaurant owner." There is the question about that free dinner though, it might not look like it but i can certainly pack away a lotttt of food" Lorenzo made an extratted attempt to rub at his stomach. The restaurant owner couldn't help but make a pitiful whining noise Knowing he was going to regret this.

"You're going to make me pay for that mutt comment aren't you?" The otter shook his head as he cradled it with his hands. Imagining how much money he was going to lose feeding this guy.

"Nahhh of course not, Well maybe just a little bit" Lorenzo wrapped an arm around the Shorter otter's shoulders, As if he was a good friend. The otter simply made a whining noise, almost like

he was ready to cry as the pair walked out of the alley. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lorenzo was drunk, he could barely keep himself seated on the barstool. His head was swimming and more than a few times he nearly fell off his seat being helped by a few of the other customers at the bar. His head continued to feel like it was trapped in a vice and he had to struggle not to pass out. He was greatly accustomed to drinking, But even he had his limits. The food inside of him didn't help matters either. He had stuffed his face with all the little appetizers this place had to offer. Lorenzo had to admit this place made Synthetic meat taste pretty good, Even if he didn't have much of a choice in the matter.

His body felt like rubber, Each of his limbs struggling to sit still and the last few drinks had seemed like they were struggling to slip out of his grasp. Still though Lorenzo opened his mouth for another drink. He was full blown drunk and he wasn't stopping anytime soon.

"Gi-gmme nother one, my treat!" Lorenzo managed to slur out his words, barely comprehensible. He slapped a hundred dollar bill onto the Bar table before spinning his barstool around, gulping down the rest of the beer in the glass mug of his. He slammed it down as he finished it off, listening to the cheers and claps of the small number of fellow patrons inside. The Mug was just another empty glass to lay beside the numerous other mugs on the table.

Despite his hazy mind, Lorenzo thought how amazing it would be to have his own bar. It would be something huge, where people from all over the city could come, Maybe then they wouldn't see him as some sort of crook. No he'd do even better he'd have something like a club. Beautiful ladies to serve drinks and greet everyone. And it wouldn't just be Certain animals, he'd make sure it would be open to all animals both Predator and prey.

"Ladies and gentleman, I have an announcement, I'm going to run my own bar. It's going to be the biggest in the city and all of you get your first drinks free!" Lorenzo laughed to himself, almost dilarous as he spun on the stool once again. Holding himself tall before promptly falling flat on his face. The crowd around him burst into laughter, a good natured laugh. They were used to seeing Lorenzo around here. Some of the people couldn't help but glare at him though, a bit angrily. Lorenzo was known throughout a lot of the city, how could he not be after all he was part of the biggest gang on the eastern coast of the United states.

Lorenzo started stumbling to his feet, his legs feeling like jello. Flimsy and unresponsive. He felt a pair of strong arms hoist him to his feet and he grinned to himself. He patted the two Anthro's beside him. His eyes were having trouble focusing on them. "I really love this fucking city, Such great people, great girls" he eyed a pair of girls sitting against one of the tables at the far end of the bar, who simply giggled and blushed at him. He was feeling good today, for one of the few times in his life he was realizing how much he enjoyed himself when he let loose.

"To Redwood!" Lorenzo shouted towards the crowd.

"To Redwood" The crowd shouted back, some of them even stomping their feet.

"I bet you do love it, I mean why wouldn't you, right?" A woman's voice broke through the sound of the crowd. It came from the bar counter. A stern, disapproving voice. Her voice caused many in the crowd's formally loud sounds, to quiet to small murmurs. Many of the regulars had learned to quickly follow the rules of that voice. The voice belonged to a woman that people had started calling "The White witch" A nickname nobody dared to say to the woman's face.

"See what i tell you all, Everybody agrees with me" Lorenzo looked for the voice but he couldn't find the source. He was starting to wonder if the voice was only imaginary before he felt a poke on his stomach and he looked down. It was a sheep, a female sheep. It wasn't something he hadn't seen before in this city, but he wasn't used to the look on her face as she looked up at him.

Lorenzo had been used to most sheep who saw him even before they knew who he was to have a fearful look in their eyes. Eyes that constantly were moving around, searching for exits, in case Lorenzo ended up growing feral and violent. Small bodys that were bundles of tense muscles and nerves. This one's face though seemed different, it was a stern face. A stern face but pretty, blue eyes that reminded Lorenzo of Ice when the light hit it just right at nighttime. Her coat color seemed to be less of a white and more of a smoky grey, with a small patch of cloud white fur around her left eye. Probably some sort of birthmark. She was wearing a sleeveless satin black dress, while her face remained unobscured by makeup save some dark brown lipstick on her long but thin lips. Lips that were more prone to scowls and dissatisfied sighs then smiles and laughs.

Lorenzo couldn't help but whistle at her, he had to admit she was a looker even for somebody that was a prey species, Lorenzo couldn't help but admire that beauty though he did wonder if part of his feelings were from the drink he had. Granted Sexual relations were pretty common between Prey and preadtor's, Actual meanigufl relationships were another story, But Lorenzo had never been one to stick with one woman. After all, why Stick with one appetizer when you could have a whole goddamn meal?

Lorenzo had never been with any Prey woman though, he had many previous encounters with women. Numerous ones in fact the most interesting one having been with an elephant a few months back. Lorenzo couldn't help but grin sheepishly to himself as he thought about that encounter. It had been one of his better sexual experiences, Granted it had ended with him having some bruised ribs and a strained cock that had felt sore for almost a week, but it had definitely been worth it.

Maybe he'd try to give this girl a spin, He had a knack for getting the ladies after all. Everybody seemed to love the bad boy after all, and Lorenzo certainly was a pretty bad boy. He thought better of the idea though, he could already feel his mouth salivating, long ropes of salvia

threatened to flow from his mouth and he quickly had to force his jaw shut. His ancestor's blood flowed through him, that of the ancient wolf, It urged him to eat this sheep to swallow her, the Irony sweet taste of blood and... He needed to stop before he did something he regretted. This wasn't the time for this or that place. It wasn't like he had anywhere though. This was the world they lived in, He needed to adapt. How could he Follow his father's dreams if he couldn't even overcome something as simple as his beastly instincts?

"You know it's assholes like you that make it so hard for the poor working animals in this city! I bet you get off on this stuff, Mugging the poor and Stepping on anybody gets in your way. You're nothing better than a bully, A man who never grew out of that power high you had when you were younger right? I bet you were some rich kid who never had to deal with anything we people did right?" The sheep sneered these words out, jabbing a finger at Lorenzo's chest.

Lorenzo was taken aback for a moment, In his mind flashes of his life went through his brain. Pictures of him on the streets digging through trash, Feeling cold and alone struggling to survive. It made him angry at this sheep who thought she knew him so well. It was also surprising to have this small sheep try to embarrass him like this. He could feel his ancestor's blood pumping through him once more, screaming at him to show this Small sheep just how much Lorenzo had fought to get to this moment. At the age of twenty one he had made a big name for himself in the biggest gang in this city.

He had joined at the age of Sixteen, Reluctantly accepted by the gang he currently worked for. He had clawed his way out of the hole and he didn't plan on ever going back. He had learned a long time ago in this world, no matter how much other anthros claimed of goodwill and friendship there was only one thing you could rely on, it was yourself. That wasn't completely true was it though? Despite having had to prove himself time and time again in the gang with his own fists and determination he would have never had the chance if he hadn't met Mr.Hornwood, The big and powerful leader of the whole damn gang.

Lorenzo wrapped an arm around the sheep, figuring he could use his charms to make all of this run smoothly. He couldn't help himself despite wanting to scream at this sheep. He also felt a sort of attraction towards this outspoken sheep. Granted he thought she needed to learn some manner, but he was sure he could find some way to get her to "cooperate".

"You know if you wanted to ask me out, you only needed to ask, I try my best not to bite, much" Lorenzo grinned at the struggling sheep, showing off his sharp and pointed fangs at the sheep who simply rolled her eyes.

"Well that's good to know, I think i was wrong about you earlier, I should offer you another drink here" The sheep grabbed at a mug sitting on the counter, another patron's drink before shoving it's contents towards Lorenzo's face. Most of it dripped down his Nice Blue suit, while some of it got into his eyes. Lorenzo coughed and wiped at his eyes, trying to ignore the stinging.

The sheep let the glass drop back onto the table, a loud clattering noise sounding off. She stomped off to the back ignoring the small bit of people that had grouped around Lorenzo who had managed to get most of the liquid out of his eyes, his eyes red looking almost bloodshot. Some of the patrons had already walked out of the bar, expecting a fight to occur, they had seen Lorenzo in his bad moods before and they were expecting more than a few things to be torn apart.

"You know what, I don't need this job anyway, It's not worth it, Find somebody else to kiss ass, it won't be me though!" The sheep had returned shortly after leaving carrying a small coat on one arm with her purse in the other. The crowd moved out of her way not even bothering to try and stop her. Lorenzo could only stare at her through red eyes and his drenched suit, cursing silently to himself.

"Oh I am so so sorry about that, she was new, she only started about two weeks ago, but she had such great work experience.. And and" Lorenzo gently shushed the Bar owner, shaking his head as he started to feel the light pounding of his head turn into a throb he was sure was the start of a binge headache.

He managed to reach into his pocket, slipping a hundred dollar bill into the otter's pocket before he started to head out, but not before turning to the remaining people in the bar. "Well everyone it's been fun, but.. But..." Lorenzo promptly turned his head towards the side and vomited heavily. Lorenzo thought it would make him feel empty, but it only made his stomach hurt and he heard a few sounds of disgust and the shrill high pitched yelping sound from the Bar owner.

Lorenzo groaned and gave a curt wave towards everyone. "Just put that on my tab, thanks!" Lorenzo opened the door outside, hearing the dinging noise of bells rattling in the night air as he headed outside. He stuffed his hands into his pocket and swaggered towards Headquarters. It was going to be a long night. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lorenzo had walked the rest of the way to headquarters, Having parked a few blocks away from the large mansion grounds that was the gang's Headquarters and also the home of Lorenzo's father figure. Mr.Hornwood. He knew Hornwood wouldn't have looked favorably at him driving drunk, but the few minutes he had driven closer uptown to the fancy homes and business district had been pretty uneventful and Lorenzo had managed to keep his stomach down. The previous vomiting seemed to have cleared his head and churned his stomach a bit. Unlike Most of the mansions that were in this part of the City, Headquarters was situated just a bit outside the city. Technically it was still part of the city grounds, but the trail that led towards it led towards a high rise cliff, Nothing but Darkness of trees and wilderness down below.

For a time Lorenzo thought back to when he was younger, he had snuck off so many times down the long stretching dirt road towards that large canopy of woods. He used to love it, there was something comforting about it. The way the birds chirped and the sound of Pre evolved

animals still sounded. Lorenzo had never seen any Pre evolution animals, until that one time back when... Lorenzo was drawn out of his thoughts as he realized he had walked the trail all the way to the checkpoint. A fancy term for the small electronic gate that separates the inner complex from the outside. He noticed the small group of guards roaming around, most of them carrying no weapons save knives and their fists, Most of the guards with guns were in the inner portion of the complex. Though gun's were becoming nearly impossible to proccer anymore. They were banned in the city. Even most officers were simply given tranquilizer guns. Only the higher end police units carried any sort of firearm and even then they were considered a last resort.

"Hey guys did you miss me" Lorenzo couldn't help but give off that trademark smirk of his towards some of the guards that stood at the gate. One of the guards muttered under his breath, Another day Lorenzo would have asked him what he had said, but tonight he was a bit too drunk to really get into a fight. It wasn't worth the hassle. "Mind letting me through?" Lorenzo asked with a sing-song like voice, Taking a moment to stretch like this was just another normal day. "Yeah, yeah, boss is waiting for you" another guard's voice broke in, His voice was gruff and gravely like he had smoked a whole box of cigarettes.

Off to the side lay a small hut where the controls for the gate and a series of Monitors overlooked the cameras that surrounded the whole complex. There were also a few cots for those Late overnight shifts, Though they were pretty damn uncomfortable if Lorenzo was being honest. He had never liked guard duty at least not for the complex. It always was so boring to somebody Like Lorenzo, he was a man of action not patience, Something his Father figure had tried to Futility implement into his surrogate son.

A moment later a low buzzing sound went off that made Lorenzo's ear's twitch. He hated the small sound of the gate when it opened, it didn't sit well with the Wolf's enhanced hearing. He could see the few guards stationed directly in front of the gate move gingerly to the side to allow Lorenzo to walk through. Despite their seeming Distaste for him, they at least respected him if for nothing else, his fighting prowess and street smarts. It still didn't keep the occasional Member to Publicly show their distaste though, but they eventually learned to keep their mouth shut around him, usually after a few broken teeth and bruised ribs.

"Thank ya boys." Lorenzo bowed down and tipped an imaginary hat towards some of the guards before heading to the inner grounds of the complex. He followed the cobblestone trail, looking over the abdonunce of flowers that surrounded Lorenzo on both sides of the wide Trail. Driving beyond the trail towards the vast grounds of grass and other trails that swerved off to parts unknown he could see what looked like Golf carts driving around the inner grounds. Lorenzo felt sorry for the poor sap that tried to invade the complex. Who would even try though, the gang ran nearly all of the underworld, nearly 90% from what Lorenzo had been told. The only major thing they didn't have their hand in was drugs, Hornwood refused to dabble in any such thing, More than a few times he had been asked about venturing into the world of drugs and everytime the answer was a hard no.

After a few minutes Lorenzo had made it to the Mainstay of the Complex, the large multi floor Mansion that Made up Hornwood and a few others home and also the Official Headquarters for the gang. He had just started walking up the long Regal looking white staircase that led up to the big and tall double doors that led inside. Only to be stopped by an all too familiar face. Lorenzo could hear himself let out a small groan as he took in the familiar wolf. The world's fur was white, like the color of freshly fallen snow With eyes that were an eerie blood red color. His body was a thin one, with the only visible lines that weren't straight on his body being the muscles in his arms and legs even then everything about him was rather smaller, He sat just a few inches below Lorenzo just reaching Lorenzo's neck. His snout was long with a moist pink nose that always seemed to be sniffling as if he was sniffing for something. His eyes are always what other people were fixated on though. Despite the softness of his facial features his eyes always seemed hard and appeared to look right through people, right to their core. Sometimes Lorenzo thought his eyes weren't his own, but that of some demon instead of an anthro.

"Lorenzo, you're the last one again. I see you truly do enjoy making the boss wait for you, what a surprise" The albino wolf's voice was soft spoken, but had a hard and icy exterior to it. It always sent shivers down Lorenzo's back. Despite the soft spoken nature of his voice whenever He spoke people grew quiet at least the people that knew him. Despite the soft looking features on his face and voice, Lorenzo had learned firsthand this wolf, Vincent had a lot more strength then he appeared to.|

"I got distracted. What can i say?" Lorenzo tried his best to stifle a burp coming from him. The heavy smell of alcohol hitting Vincent's nose. He didn't make any movement though simply staring at Lorenzo with those Frightful eyes and a cool gaze as Lorenzo started to lit a cigarette he had pulled from the breast pocket of his suit. In the blank of an eye Vincent had snatched it from his hands before Lorenzo could barely react. Lorenzo growled and tried to snatch the cigarette back from Vincent.

"Tccch what the hell you think you're doing!" Lorenzo tried to reach for his cigarette again. Vincent only side stepped out of the way almost causing Lorenzo to tumble onto the ground. Lorenzo glared at Vincent who only looked at him with a cool gaze, the slightest twitch of the corners of his lips forming into an amused smile as he twirled the cigarette delcitly in his fingers.

"You're still a bit slow. You never seem to learn there's no smoking around or inside the mansion and besides these things are terrible for your health" He tossed the cigarette with the lightest of flick's from his wrist sending it into one of the bushes that surrounded both sides of the large front end porch. Lorenzo tried to grab for the cigarette feebly, as it brushed against the tip of his fingers before landing in a bushel of bushes. Lorenzo glared at Vincent who stood there with his arms over his chest, one hand brushing lightly against the fur on his head.

"You asshole, That was a good cigarette, do you know how much those cost! You could have just given it back to me" Lorenzo clutched a fist angrily against his side, A look of annoyance

and frustration forming across his face. Small wrinkles formed across his snout as he bared his fangs slightly at Vincent who raised curious eyes towards Lorenzo, the smallest hint of a small forming against his long and thin lips. Lorenzo hated the way this guy seemed to think his shit smelled better than others. He knew he was second in command of the gang, but all the same he couldn't stand the way this guy seemed to look down upon Lorenzo as if he was some sort of dog that needed training.

"If you feel there's a problem I apologize, You just don't seem to be one for learning much do you? Perhaps we could handle this civilly? I'd hate to get my clothes dirty" Vincent looked at Lorenzo with a waiting gaze. Lorenzo could hear the voice in his head screaming to kick this guy's ass, but he knew it would just be another loss at least with the way he was right now. He was in no mood for fighting. One day he'd show this guy who the real dog was, but it wouldn't be tonight. Lorenzo waved a hand as if the thrown cigarette was no big deal. "Nahhh it's fine, should probably try to quit anyway, right?"

Vincent gave an uncharastic snort, surprised by Lorenzo's seeming lack of aggressive response."You just end up being full of surprises, don't you?"

"Yeah, yeah whatever. If you don't mind though i got some stuff to take care of with the boss. Since i'm the last one and all, besides some of us have actual work to do, besides kissing ass" Lorenzo sneered at Vincent and for a moment he could see the slightest twitch of the Albino wolf's lips and a hint of a fang before his face returned to it's stoic and cool form.

"Well, actually Mr.Hornwood is a bit busy tonight, he sent me out here to meet with you, You know he worries about you a lot, with good reason obviously. Then again you are an adult what you do is no concern of mine, as long as it doesn't affect Mr.Hornwood" Those last words were said with a much icy undertone then usual and Lorenzo was reminded once again how much Vincent respected his surrogate father.

Vincent held out a hand, as if waiting for something. It took Lorenzo a moment to realize what he was doing until he spoke. "I take it you have this week's Protection money?

"Yeah, I sure do. It's all there you can even count it if you want, I know you will anyway" Lorenzo slapped the bundle of bills in Vincent's hand. Despite the strength in it, Vincent's hand didn't sway at all. Without any hesitation Vincent started to count the money, quickly flipping the bills until he reached one that had a small smudge on it, and the smell of iron." Hmm what's this?" Vincent asked with a curious tone, Lorenzo knew he already knew what it was and he had to roll his eyes as he explained himself.

"One of the owners didn't want to pay his money, may have had to fight for it though." Vincent looked at Lorenzo with a look of concern and Lorenzo had to give a chuckle. "Don't worry i didn't beat him up, he thought he'd get some hired help, lets just say it didn't work out for him" Lorenzo couldn't help but grin. He was a rather cocky guy and loved to talk about his fights in

great detail, to the dismay of many. Still though he was in no mood to deal with one of Vincent's speeches so he held back the urge.

Vincent simply shook his head while giving an exasperated sigh placing a hand against his head before placing it against Lorenzo's shoulder. He moved closer and could smell the strong scent of alcohol that premadted from Lorenzo, mixed with the strong smoky smell of day old cigarettes and The strong scent of cologne. "Haven't I told you before, charm and civility are so much better as prusadors. Do you think beating on some hard working restaurant owner is going to help matters when we're trying so hard to help this city?"

Lorenzo could feel himself growing irritated. The last thing he felt like today was another of Vincent's Lectures. "I didn't plan on getting into a fight and it's the guy's fault anyway, I told you he had some hired help. He's damn lucky i didn't kick his ass too. Should have just paid his dues like he was supposed to. He wanted another extension, as if i'm that stupid" Lorenzo growled under his breath. Sometimes he could really hate this city, there were times he thought about leaving, It wasn't like he couldn't go to another branch somewhere. He felt like he owed too much to his father though, if for nothing else the fact he had raised him. He wasn't sure he fully believed in his idea of unity, Or more like he thought it was a nearly impossible task. He couldn't help though but felt admiration for the man though for pushing so hard for something he believed in. It was admirable to say the least.

"It's that kind of talk that makes people afraid of us, you know, You always rush things you should have called one of us and let us handle it. We could have taken the loss. Twenty thousand is just a drop in the bucket for us you know. You need to start Relying on your Ally's more or you're going to end up hurt badly or worse." Vincent removed his hand from Lorenzo's shoulder.

"It's not even about that, You know nobody in the gang treats me like much, Besides Why should we have just let him off the hook. All that does is make it like he's mocking us" Lorenzo had gotten closer to Vincent, his voice steadily growing louder. Vincent continued to have a calm face, waiting for Lorenzo to finish venting. Sometimes he swore Lorenzo could be a child he didn't understand what the boss saw in him. He wasn't going to ignore the Mr.Hornwoods wishes though and he would do his best to help Lorenzo along the way, Even if he thought it was a nearly impossible task.

"We have to show that we're serious, The boss deserves better than that all he's done for these people. I told him though that nobody listens and he needs to start being forceful, but what's the point if they still hate us maybe we should show them we mean business. I've seen what Anthros are like, sometimes they can just be as bad as the humans!" Lorenzo screamed that last part, panting heavily. A few nearby guards gave weary glances but continued to do their duties trying their best to ignore the commotion.

"Are you finished?" Vincent asked cooly. Lorenzo gave a nod and took a deep breath. A

moment later he felt something hard hit him in the face. Vincent had punched Lorenzo in the face hard causing Lorenzo to tumble down the steps and onto the ground. Lorenzo rubbed his head glaring daggers at Vincent before letting out a growl, his fangs bared at the Proper wolf.

"What the fuck was that for, you asshole!?" Lorenzo got to his feet, holding a fist up towards Vincent while bits of spittle came from his mouth. Vincent continued to look at him, the look in his eyes one of quiet anger and his normally stoic expression turned into one of slight anger.

"You think you can get away with saying something like that, huh!? People are struggling in this city trying to have a life and you call them just like humans! Humans want to be better than us. They want us to fail and you're doing a damn good job of showing it, You need to stop acting like a damn kid and grow up or leave. I don't know what I expected from you" Vincent scoffed at Lorenzo which only made him angrier. Lorenzo had dealt so much with that growing up as a street urchin. Fending for himself for years the look on the people's face as he walked by in rags. The diguest people showed when he begged for money. It had made him realize Anthros could be just as bad as humans.

"You son of a bitch!" Lorenzo let out a loud snarl and rushed at Vincent. At that moment he wasn't thinking about the consequences of him attacking a higher up or the fact Vincent was stronger then him. Rage fueled his actions, he wanted to wipe that condescending smirk off Vincent's face.

"Enough!" A loud stomping sound echoed throughout the front of the house and a deep booming voice sounded off. The voice was one all too familiar to all people around. The few guards that had started gathering around, quickly and quietly dispersed While Vincent and Lorenzo stood where they were. Lorenzo still had one fist clenched tightly beside him in a punching motion, while Vincent's body slowly relaxed from it's tense state. Lorenzo looked up at the Ornate door to see his boss and his surrogate father.

Lorenzo had done all he could to please Hornwood, Most of it was because he felt he owed a debt to Him and he hated feeling he owed people. Part of him though had simply joined the gang to gain that respect and wealth he had seen Hornwood have. Lorenzo had always wondered how such a man as him could have created such a large gang, the influence he had made Lorenzo wonder who he had been before. He had to have been somebody influential beforehand, A politician or maybe some Inheritor of some Old Royal Anthro family perhaps. He would have thought that if not for the fact Hornwood seemed to treat everyone with respect and kindness. He had seen it firsthand. Despite that He wasn't above getting aggressive when needed, though Lorenzo had never actually seen him fight he knew he must be strong as just the mere mention of Hornwood coming personally to deal with any issues or problems that arose seemed to make the offending parties quickly come to an agreement.

Despite his threatening demeanor. Hornwood was a quiet and thoughtful man. The few times Lorenzo had managed to see him personally he would usually have some book in his hands or

a stack of papers in front of him. As of late Lorenzo had noticed he had been traveling less and less and spending more of his time in headquarters usually sending Vincent or some other Higher ranking member to some of the other cities to check in on things. Part of Lorenzo was worried about his health, But the few times that he managed to speak with him privately he would brush off the notion that anything was wrong simply saying he was getting older. Lorenzo didn't tell him though he had heard the wet coughs that plagued him more and more as of late.

Hornwood continued to spread his wealth despite the worries Lorenzo had Hornwood had tried his best to act as if things were the same. He had continued to donate heavily to the city. Focusing mainly on helping small business and continuing to donate to the orphanages dotted around the city. The struggling postwar city may have not grown because of Hornwood but it had certainly kept it from fading into disarray. Lorenzo was sure the few eager humans who still resented Anthros were surprised that one of the cities they had allowed the anthros to have for themselves, exclusively had turned into such a shining beacon for Anthros across the country. There had even been talk of the city council putting a vote up to allow humans to take up residence in the city. Granted currently there were a few humans that stopped by the large lively city, always tourists of course mostly history buffs or students who wanted to see the sight of the rapidly growing city. Lorenzo wasn't for humans being allowed to become citizens of the city after all why should they? They had treated Anthros like second class citizens for years, Nearly three hundred in fact and only over the past few decades were they finally able to have equal rights to humans.

"Lorenzo put your fist down" Mr.Hornwood walked down the steps, Vincent bowing as he moved gracefully out of his way. The bull's tall and thick build looming over the pair like some great black fur wall. Lorenzo could feel himself still shaking with anger, the fur on the back of his neck still on end, But he let his fist down to his side, rolling his eyes. "Yeah whatever."

Lorenzo could feel something. His father's thick but warm hand brushed lightly against the small bruise against his eye from earlier. He couldn't help but flinch slightly, feeling a sore pain. Lorenzo hated for him to see that, it made him look like he was weak. He looked up at Hornwood's eyes. Despite the strong square chin of his and the grizzled face that met him, he noticed his eyes had a softness to them. His eyes were sunken deep with dark circles around his eyes. His eyes were light brown like the color of leaves in the falls. His eyes always made Lorenzo feel relaxed and he could feel his body start to finally relax, tense muscles slowly falling back to match with his calm breathing.

"You're hurt." His deep voice was a matter of face and Lorenzo pushed his hand away gently.

"I'm fine, Just had to deal with some big dumb bear, it's no big deal" Lorenzo waved a hand away as if the notion wasn't anything. He could still see Hornwood's eyes fixed on him for a bit before he simply nodded.

"Well I'm glad you're alright, after all i need one of my best collectors and fighters to stay in top

shape" Mr Hornwood let out a laugh, that sounded more like a bellow before slapping lorenzo across the back nearly causing Lorenzo to stumble. His laugh always sounded more like a grunt then actual laughter. Lorenzo was reminded how much it scared him when he was younger.

"Despite that I can't turn a blind eye when you're trying to fight my vice captain, what kind of boss would I be otherwise, huh? After all he's only trying to help you" Lorenzo swore he could see the slightest curling of Vincent's lips, as if he was gloating. Lorezno could only mutter under his breath. He really hated the way Vincent acted towards him, he didn't act like this with the other members. Then again they never argued with Vincent usually. Vincent was always more than willing to point out issues that Lorenzo had, from his heavy emotions to his fighting stance to even what he ate or drank. That last part had calmed down somewhat over the years. It made Lorenzo wonder what had happened over the years, Vincent had always acted disdainful towards Lorenzo, but there had always been almost a brotherly concern and affection towards Lorenzo, but over the past few years his the relationship between the two had grown more and more distant and most of their interactions involved anomsuity.

Hornwood turned towards Vincent, whose face quickly returned to its natural calm and collected form. "And you know how easy it is get him all excited"

Vincent bowed deeply. "My apologies sir, I was simply trying to remind him about how much you do for this city and that perhaps he needs to start thinking more about his actions. Mostly that many things can be solved without resorting to violence" Hornwood could only give a deep sigh as he rubbed at the point of one of his long and sharp horns.

"Well you're right, It's good to usually resolve things through Civility, it usually helps gain respect and goodwill a lot easier, But.." He turned towards Lorenzo who groaned expecting another reminder of how wrong he was. "Sometimes you have to fight and you don't have a choice. Honestly I have full faith that Lorenzo tried his best to resolve the situation peacefully though I do wish he'd try to ask for help from his family sometimes" The bull smiled warmly at him and for a moment Lorenzo couldn't speak. He was surprised to hear his father actually give him credit. He could see from the corner of his eye Vincent was just as surprised and swore he could see a slight vein rise in his face, but his face kept it's same calm and stoic demeanor.

Hornwood took a moment to stretch, the black suit he was wearing threatening to burst against his Broad shoulders and thick chest, Despite the fact the white shirt underneath already had a few buttons undone already."But that's enough of that, Lorenzo before you go i need to speak with you"

Vincent looked at Hornwood curiously who simply nodded in response. Vincent had a look of concern on his face, but he didn't argue and simply gave one last look at Lorenzo before going back into the mansion shaking his head and muttering under his breath as he did so.

"Asshole" Lorenzo muttered under his own breath, as soon as he saw the door close.

Hornwood looked at Lorenzo rubbing at his temple while giving an exasperated sigh. "Why do you Provoke him like that? You know he's only trying to look out for you. He cares about you, try and give him a chance and you'll see. Why can't you two ever seem to get along like you used to?"

Lorenzo could only look down, He could feel his face growing hot. He felt a bit embarrassed but also angry. He always tried his best to please Mr.Hornwood and despite the usual gentle nature he was towards him, he couldn't help but feel he would have rather he got yelled at, it wouldn't make him feel so ashamed. "It's not my fault, that he thinks his shit is made of gold or something!"

"Lorenzo, enough!" Hornwoods voice got slightly louder, but that's not what stopped Lorenzo from speaking; it was the slight tone change that made him quiet down. He had heard it a few times when he was younger and each time it had sent shivers down his spine. "S-sorry, sir."

Hornwood placed a hand around Lorenzo's shoulder, rubbing up and down his shoulder with a strong firm hand. Lorenzo looked up at the Thick and tall bull and he couldn't help but feel a soft warmth like he used to when he was younger. The few times the two of them had personally spent time together. He saw something in his eye that resembled sadness. Was it because of Lorenzo's actions or something else though? "Look Lorenzo i...know you don't like Vincent and you don't always get along with the gang, but just try to get along. You wanted into this gang and while i'll admit you've been such a huge help and one of our top earners, you aren't going to get anywhere if you can't make friends. Just be a little more careful alright, i... l.." Hornwood took a moment to cough, seeming to think better of what he was about to say. "I'd hate to lose out on such a great employee."

"I'm not going to be around forever you know that and you need to be ready for that, the next leader might not be as forgiving as me, you know. Besides we're a family here, hell this whole city is. I know you don't see the point but this city means something special to me and a lot of people, i'm not asking you to follow my footsteps, but just try to understand a little, alright pup" Lorenzo bristled slightly at the term, It had always been his father's way of teasing him when he was younger and it always made Lorenzo annoyed.

"Alright, alright i get it. Just don't call me a pup, I'm twenty years old!" Lorenzo grumbled under his breath and he could see Hornwood laughing and playfully pinching Lorenzo's cheek, who tried to bite at it before he quickly removed his hand.

"Alright alright, I'll let you go then. Get out of here, take a good night's sleep and make sure you wash that suit, it smells" Lorenzo could feel his cheeks turning red, as he noticed the lingering smell of the spilled beer from earlier on, having started making the suit smell funny. Another thing to add to his list. These suits weren't cheap after all, but sometimes you had to pay to look good." Lorenzo started walking down the steps before Hornwood said something to him as he

left.

"And, Lorenzo good job on this weeks collections, It's good to know i can't count on you when i need it"

Lorenzo rolled his eyes and tried to act like it wasn't a big deal, but he couldn't hide the grin forming on his face. He headed to his car outside the small complex, taking a moment to light a cigarette while he hand rolled his window down, taking a moment to feel the warm summer air against his fur. A small breeze blowing as he drove into the quiet streets. There was somewhere he needed to go before going home first, His stomach growled as he thought about it and he could feel a mix of both shame and hunger filling his insides. If only his father knew where he was going he thought. He didn't think much else as he headed to his next destination.

Chinatown in Redwood city was beautiful especially at night. Bright neon lights with Chinese symbols hummed loudly against the otherwise late night hour streets. Many paper lanterns swayed against the light wind that was blowing. This time of night most of the shop's and restaurants were closed, save for a few and in Lorenzo's case there was only one he was worried about heading to.

He was used to the route too, he had come here a few times now and each time the trip towards the place would fill him with a sense of both hunger and a growing sense of lust. Lorenzo wondered if every anthro city had a Black food market like this city did. A place where you could find any meat you wanted, not that Synthetic crap, but the actual good real meat. He knew it was illegal even more so then the stuff he did and one of the few rules Mr.Hornwood had in the gang was a heavy ban on interaction between the Black market, but Lorenzo couldn't help himself. Not since the first time he had tasted real meat years ago. He felt such a large amount of shame, but he couldn't help himself. He used to be able to get away only eating there once a month, but lately his trips had become weekly or bi weekly and he worried he might have become addicted. It hadn't done wonders for his wallet either, he had learned real meat wasn't cheap. Lorenzo tried to cull his guilty mind by reminding him the meat was supposed to only come from willing people or people who had died in hospitals or who had died and wouldnt be missed. Lorenzo wasn't sure he believed that fully, but he tried his best to. What else could he do? He needed this to keep him going.

Lorenzo could smell the scent of cooking meat fill his senses and he began to salivate heavily, he could hear a small growl coming from his stomach and he clutched at it annoyed. "Damn it, i need to keep things together. One wrong move and the least I'll have to worry about is being hungry" He grabbed at the cigarette cartoon in the breast pocket of his suit jacket, taking the time to remove one and light it up. The heavy scent of scented smoked filled Lorenzo's mouth and nose and helped to dull his strong sense of smell slightly curbing the hunger he felt.

The Black market was one of the few reasons the small unorganized gangs that owned the small remaining Twenty percent or so of the city hadn't been pushed out any more. Everything was a delicate balance as Lorenzo had been told. They all helped contribute towards the Underworld infrastructure. Since Hornwoods criminal enterprise refused to engage with Drugs or the meat market other Groups were able to take that place. The police for the most part knew about the Black market, they allowed it to run as long as things went smoothly and didn't get too out of control. Lorenzo figured it was kind of like Prison the Police or guards in this case knew some of the heat needed to be vented somehow, as long as everything remained structured and they got their cut they were willing to look the other way with the occasional arrest to keep things in check.

Lorenzo had continued heading towards the Black market when he heard the sound of a scuffle in the alley to his left."Just keep walking" Lorenzo muttered to himself. He wasn't much for helping people least of all in this part of the city. He continued to walk and then he heard that sound again, something that sounded like a trash can falling down. He couldn't just walk away could he? Some of the words his adoptive father had said to him rang in his ears. He cursed silently to himself before stepping into the darkened alleyway, half hoping the sounds were nothing more than his imagination. The cramped sides of the building made Lorenzo thankful he wasn't claustrophobic, all the same Lorenzo couldn't help but feel the walls were steadily closing in on him and despite his experience with fights he could feel the fur against his stiffen. He could hear some growling sounds and what sounded like the sounds of a scuffle as he grew closer to the end of the allway. Two male sounding voices sounded closer and closer, before a muffled voice added it's own voice to the duo.

"Hold her down!"

"I"m trying, but i don't want to hurt her, if she gets too hurt we won't get as much money"

"I bet we'll get a good amount from her, just look at how pretty she is, hell they might not even use you for meat, maybe you'll get lucky, you work out at all, baby?"

Lorenzo had gotten close enough to the end he could see through the dim flickering lights that hang against the roof of the dilapted buildings around here. It looked like two young males who Lorenzo guessed were about sixteen or so. One of them was a poodle with his white fur having streaks of pink in it while the other anthro appeared to be a ram, large curled horns that rose up a few inches above his forehead. Well nobody could say Redwood wasn't an equal opportunity city. Lorenzo thought bitterly to himself.

Lorenzo tossed his half finished Cigarette onto the ground, stomping and snuffing out the small flames. The two guys turned around, their eyes frantically looking around, Out of fear. "Hey guys, looks like you're having a little late night fun, I take it?" Lorenzo had his hands in his pockets now, a small smirk on his face. The cocky and calm demeanor he had was quickly swept aside as he noticed the girl who had her mouth taped shut and her wrists tied up. That

would have been bad enough, but then he noticed it was the sheep from earlier. The one who had verbally abused him.

"What the fuck, what's my luck huh" Lorenzo muttered under his breath, barely audible. Wasn't this just his luck? The person he was trying to help out was somebody who hated him outright.

"Get the fuck out of here!" The ram shouted before looking back at the girl and back at Lorenzo. Lorenzo guessed he was debating if he could take on Lorenzo. Normally Lorenzo was itching from a fight, but he was too exhausted from today's events. Not only that but the fact the two seemed like kids made Lorenzo pause a bit. He looked at the tattered clothes they wore and the look of fear and desperation the two of them seemed to have. He knew that look all too well, Even so he couldn't just leave these two alone with this lady. The last thing he needed was something on his conscience.

"Now here I thought we could be friends." Lorenzo shrugged and took a step closer. The two males looked at him, fear forming on their face, but they stood their ground. "So i'm going to only ask once, normally i wouldn't but i'm in a good mood today, Leave now and we'll pretend none of this happened alright" Lorenzo's voice had an icy undertone to it, he wanted to get the message across he wasn't messing around, but he also didn't want to come off as too forceful. He didn't want to scare these two too much, all the same he could feel his nails digging into the palm of his hand.

"Who the fuck are you? Listen you better get the fuck out of here or else!" The poodle growled at Lorenzo, the fur on his back standing up as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a switchblade. The metal gleamed against the Orange brown light that flickered in and out of existence from the overhead lamp post. Lorenzo couldn't help but growl back, despite his best intentions. There were some things that couldn't be unlearned. While his eyes were on the Poodle he could see his ram friend from the corner of his eye moving closer.

"Listen don't make me do this, just walk away. Are you two really this stupid. You really think even if you somehow get past me, you'll be able to cause a scene in this part of the city without any issue. You're going to give this girl away to god knows who and be able to live with yourself? It's not worth it, you can do better than this.

Lorenzo could see the Poodle's tense grip on his switchblade loosen slightly before the ram beside him sighed and gently grabbed the Switchblade from his friend's hand. "Let's just go, I don't think this guy's going to let us go without a fight and i don't think he's going to report us"

The Poodle growled against his friends words but the fight in his body seemed to be gone. 'Ehh fuck it, she's not even worth it" The Poddle got bent down on his knees and started to undue the rope knots that bound The sheep's wrists. He had started working on the tape on her mouth when she kicked him in the balls hard. A high yelp sounded from the Poodle's lips before he fell into a crumpled heap holding his wounded manhood while moaning in pain. The sheep ripped

the tape over her mouth before staring daggers at the Ram who bolted out of the alley leaving his friend behind.

"Come back here you son of a bitch" Despite her small size the Sheep had a rather explosive loud voice. Lorenzo held her back while she trashed his grip, trying feebly to kick at him. "Get off me!"

"It's fancy meeting you here, you come here often" Despite the serious situation Lorenzo couldn't help but give a snarky response. Lorenzo released the sheep who whirled around and seemed to finally notice who she was taking too. A frown forming on her face as she looked up at him.

"Oh it's you. What did you come here for? Don't think I'm going to thank you." The sheep had the nerve to look at him with a look of descrminate loathing. Lorenzo could feel his body growing hot all over from more than simple anger. He tried to open his mouth, but found nothing was coming out. Why was he having such trouble speaking now?

The awkward silence was interrupted by the loud groan of the Poodle on the ground as he shuffled against the ground. Lorenzo couldn't help but shake his head, thankful the Poodle wasn't too hurt. The last thing he needed was to have to call the police and explain the awkward situation he was in. He was certain the police wouldn't look too kindly on a Predator so close towards a prey animal.

"I'd get out of here if I were you, not sure if she'll hold back next time" Lorenzo scratched at the top of his head casually looking at the teenage dog on the ground who had tears in his eyes. Thankfully he seemed to think better of doing anything, bending down as he held his hands overtop of his manhood before waddling off. Lorenzo couldn't help but let out a snort of laughter before returning his attention to the Sheep.

He looked her over, having to kneel down to look her over. He couldn't see anything wrong with her besides a bit of dirt and scuff marks against her dress. He sniffed at her for any hints of blood or chemicals but to his relief he didn't smell anything besides a sweet savory smell almost like spices. That scent mixed in with the nature allure of flowing blood and her warm prey body made him nearly salivate. He pushed those thoughts to the back of his head best as he could. Trying to keep his beastly urges in check.

He nearly yelped as he felt her hands push down against his muzzle keeping his mouth closed and scrunching his nostrils up. "What the hell are you doing!" She yelled at him while shoving him aside. The wolf shook his head as if he had just been hit by a newspaper or something.

"I was making sure you were ok, but I'll take your Shit manners as a sign you are" he rubbed at his nose. She had a bit more strength than he thought. He was mildly amused at her rather prickly nature towards him. He wasn't used to many people trying to stand up to him. Especially

not somebody as small as this girl.

"Why did you let him go!? He could try again with somebody else, you know. I bet he works with you doesn't he, you thought you'd lure me into a false sense of security before mugging me yourself or maybe you thought you could eat me yourself and share with the poodle." The sheep looked at him with a look Lorenzo had seen too many times, one of both hate and fear. He has to focus on his breathing not to rage right then and there. Thankfully despite his brash and headstrong attitude he had been getting somewhat better controlling his emotions, just a little bit.

"Or are you trying to tell me you didn't know them, That a thug like you just decided to help somebody like me out of the goodness of your heart?" The sheep almost sneered those last words and Lorenzo could feel his blood boiling. He could feel the tremors across his body and he had to tighten his muscles to prevent him from lashing out. It didn't help the smell whiffing off of her was making his stomach growl loudly. Flashes in his mind thought of how she would taste a loud almost growl of a voice filled his thoughts. "Go ahead and take a bite, just imagine how she would taste, just look at her. Nobody would find out~".

The voice wasn't wrong; she looked almost good enough to eat. She wasn't the prettiest girl he had seen, but she was a looker that much was for sure. Her legs were short matching her small stature, but straight. The small bit of her stomach he could see with her dress overtop had a small bit of chub to it that wasn't noticeable unless you really looked. Her breasts while small seemed solid and perky and he could tell she wasn't wearing a bra from the low cut of her dress. He had to turn his head away to avoid looking at her, Though she seemed to take this as an admission of his own guilt.

"That's what i thought." The sheep poked a finger at her lips and sighed as she felt the chipped skin on them. Maybe Journalism isn't for me. I guess I should have listened to my parents, they'd love to hear that wouldn't they." She had seemed to be ignoring Lorenzo before turning her head back towards him and giving a deep sigh. "I'm sorry... I owe you an apology."

"Oh really you think so hmm? What gave you that idea?" Lorenzo gave a huff of annoyance making himself look at the Sheep.

"Look i'm trying to be nice here and apologize, i guess if you had really wanted to try and eat me you could have just done it. Look, it's been a long day for me and having to be helped by somebody doesn't make me feel in the best of a mood. Besides that I'm just not used to being around so many Predators. It makes me feel anxious" The sheep rubbed at her shoulder as if she felt awkward being here right now. She offered her hand towards Lorenzo. "My name's Mellysa" She offered a hand towards Lorenzo, for a moment she seemed to almost withdraw it, but she held her ground taking a deep breath.

Lorenzo took her hand and shook it, noticing how his large paw hand seemed almost to swallow

her much smaller one. He felt a strong sense of annoyance at how she had treated him earlier, but he bit down his feelings for one of the few times in his life.

"My names Lorenzo, But you can call me I think it was a Bully" Lorenzo had a frown on his lips and his words came out stiffer than he intended to, but the sheep seemed to do her best to ignore it. "You think maybe you should be out this late all alone, in this part of town anyway?

"I would have been fine without you, besides I'm here as a college student, I'm going for Journalism at the new university that just opened up this year. I'm going to show the stories of what it's really like in this city, it's the only way people will actually listen to all the rampant crime" She couldn't help but glare at Lorenzo who rubbed the back of his head.

"And you're the person who's going to do that huh? A small little sheep who just got saved by one of those so called thugs" Lorenzo couldn't help but smirk at the small sheep and he could see her grow quiet while the muscles in her neck tightened.

This small sheep was enough to handle one of them earlier remember?" Lorenzo found himself at a loss for words for a moment sputtering before shouting. "You know what you're fucking welcome for saving your life, this thug here. The last time i try to help somebody out, i swear you're just as bad as a damn human" He growled angrily before turning around starting to walk away before he felt a hand tugging against his arm, he whirled around angrily momentarily taking aback not by the angry look in the sheep's eyes but the small bit of wetness in them.

"You son of a bitch, that's a low blow. That's so rich coming from somebody like you. Beating up people and theratning them for their hard earned money. People who are only trying to live. If anybody is like a human then you are. Maybe try to actually help people more instead of forcing them to keep your fat ass content"

"Fat ass? I'm nothing like you just said Your damn boss was helped by us, and then after keeping his restaurant and making more business than ever he thought he could skip out on paying his fees. Also sending somebody to shut me up."

"I.. i didn't know i just.." Mellysa started to speak but couldn't find the right words.

"You didn't know what? That a spoiled brat like you doesn't know anything. I've dealt with people like you before, who think i'm a good for nothing mutt. I might not be a good guy, but I never said I was. Doesn't mean i need to hear it constantly and be reminded of it all the time, especially by somebody like you!" he knew he was putting more into this then simple anger, he felt his frustration bubbling up along with other resentment. Resentment at how he had been ignored and abandoned for years and the fact even now many looked at him as nothing more than an ignorant pup. Despite all he had done he was still just considered a low class Mutt.

Despite the Large snarling wolf in front of her Mellysa didn't move and Lorenzo felt his anger

slowly receding as he realized this. His heartbeat slowed down as it returned to normal. Lorenzo felt a hint of embarrassment at the current situation and his reaction. He couldn't imagine who could have heard him and the last thing he needed was for some cop to walk by and arrest him for harassing some small prey animal. The last he needed was to spend a night in a jail cell.

"Fuck this i'm out of here, you're welcome for saving you by the way" Lorenzo grumbled and walked out of the dimlly lit alleyway. He headed down the road and towards his car. His stomach was still aching but not from hunger this time. He had surprisingly lost his appetite all he wanted to do right now was go binge on some beers and go to sleep. He wasn't even paying attention when he bumped into a tree, his stomach dropped as he noticed the dark navy blue outfit of a police officer. "Shit!" he thought to himself. He had the false hope that maybe the officer wasn't there for him at least until he tried to pass by and the tall giraffe stood in his way.

Hey officer, nice night huh?" Lorenzo's tone came out sarcastically and as he looked up at the cop he could see the slightest twitch of a vein on his forehead but it was gone as quickly as it came. Lorenzo didn't have time for pleasantries today.

"I guess so, Speaking of nice nights it just so happens we got a report about a disturbance. Lots of loud noises and a few people said they saw two figures dragging some sheep into that alley you just so happened to leave, you wouldn't know anything about that would you?" Lorenzo didn't like the condescending manner this guy was speaking, He tried to remind himself that this wasn't his area though. This was one of the few spots that Hornwood didn't control and even worse he knew the officer was here more to make sure people that only the right people made the right amount of trouble. He hated the look on this guys face too, a look Lorenzo had seen all too much. One of not fear he could deal with that, but one of actual hate. Lorenzo hated that look; it was a look he had seen too many times. One that made him feel less like a person and more like he was some sideshow attraction, some wild animal that was going to pounce on somebody at any moment. He held the urges back to scream and yell at this guy best as he could. The last thing he wanted to do was cause his father to have to bail him out of jail, it would only cause trouble for him especially in this part of the city.

"Well i didn't see anything, I actually just went there to take a quick leak and i didn't see anything or anyone so if you have nothing else to ask i'll be seeing ya" Lorenzo's voice was curt and barely what one could call polite and as he tried to walk past the cop he blocked his path once again.

"Now, now you surely had to see somebody, I mean with you being in the area so close to the complant's we got and with well your "kind's" reputation" Lorenzo could feel his fur bristle lightly at the way the office almost spat out the words of your kind. This guy was making it so hard for him to contain himself.

"What the hell are you talking about i'm just a normal guy coming home from work" Lorenzo shrugged his shoulders trying to act like he hadn't heard the way the cop had said his words. To

his slight gratification he could see the slightest hint of anger reaching the cop's face even through the Neon lights that hang around the street.

"Oh no, I know your type, the type that likes to stroll around the city like their hot stuff, that thinks they can do whatever they want. Well i got news for you predator, times have changed and you can't do whatever you want anymore"

Once again Lorenzo was being judged and he could feel his blood boiling he couldn't just seem to get a fucking break. All people liked to do was judge him and decide what kind of person he was. He never wanted more then today to say fuck it and just relish in the violence, He knew he could easily if he wanted to. Despite his occupation he wasn't nearly as bad as some others he had never killed anybody in his life and the thought of murdering somebody while might not have made him sick to his stomach as most other people did make him feel concern, worry, maybe even compassion?

"I'm taking you downtown, going to ask you a few questions. ONe way or another we'll get this sorted out. I'm sure we'll find something" The cop motioned towards his cruiser and for the moment Lorenzo didn't move. He knew right at those words that one way or another he was going to be charged with something. It didn't matter whether he had done it or not or if anything was found. The officer seemed to be amused by Lorenzo's disobedience, a small smirk forming on his lips.

"The hell i am going anywhere with you, I haven't done anything besides getting stopped by a cop who's got a small dick and is trying to make up for it with some puffed up chest shit" Lorenzo tried to walk away but the cop grabbed at his arm forcefully. "Resisting arrest huh, Oh the boys back at the station are going to lovvvve this" The cop chuckled before reaching with his free hand for his tranq gun. Lorenzo growled loudly and was about to do something he was going to regret when he heard somebody.

"Excuse me officer?" a voice that Lorenzo had heard too much of today echoed throughout the nearly empty city streets. Both Lorenzo and the officer turned their heads and Lorenzo groaned as he confirmed the voice's source. It was that sheep again Mellisa and he couldn't imagine any worse help right now. He had a strong feeling she was only going to make matters worse for him. To his surprise She actually smiled at him, smiled! She actually looked beautiful. Her face was softened and despite the frown lines on her face, she also had an air of Quiet strength to herself. The Wool on top of her head boobed and swayed against the warm summer wind that blew lightly against the late night. "What did my friend do this time? He's always getting into trouble when he drinks" Her tone was even different, almost dainty and polite, a heavy difference compared to her normally condescending and passive aggressive manner just a few minutes ago. Was this even the same person?

The officer coughed awkwardly and rubbed at the back of his neck, releasing his grip on Lorenzo. He seemed flustered and Lorenzo wanted to tell him not to even try it with her. She

was worth then a rabid dog in his opinion. Lorenzo kept his thoughts to himself for now though. He already was worried how much trouble this girl would get him into and he didn't want to make things worse. That plus he had the false hope that maybe he could get out of this unscatched.

"You're friend?" The giraffe seemed to be hinting at something that Lorenzo didn't like. He looked at Lorenzo with a mix of both jealousy and disgust. 'Is this true, is she your "friend"?

"Y-yeah her names Melissa"

Alyssa gently pushed Lorenzo to the side before giving the officer a friendly smile, she had to nearly break her neck craning it enough to get a small glimpse of the Tree tall Anthro. She was face first with the officer's crotch. She gently rubbed at his crotch, tracing a finger along his pantline. "I'm really sorry about my friend though, me and him and a few of our other friends were just having a good time, but as i said this silly guy here tends to drink a little too much. I'm sure you can let him go with a warning for me?"

"Damn she's good" Lorenzo muttered to himself. Lorenzo could already feel the shifting Atmosphere around them. He had to contain himself from giving one of his trademark smirks but he contained the urge for later. He could also feel some slight shivers from the predator herself; she currently was a real predator herself.

"Well i guess i could let him off with a warning just this once, I'd hate to have a lady such as yourself be upset. Not to mention you verified you're alright and can confirm his whereabouts" The giraffe gave the briefest of thoughts before speaking again. "Alright i'll let him off this time, just make sure you get home safe, Ma'am there's a lot of nasty things out there this time of the night" The officer glared briefly at Lorenzo and he was about to open his mouth and say something when he felt something stomp on his foot heavily making him bite his lower lip. "I couldn't happen to give you a ride home could i?" The officer asked hopefully.

"Oh you're so sweet, but i'll be fine maybe another time though hmmm? I'd hate to leave this guy alone before he gets home. He's just a big old teddy bear. Full of hot air" Was she calling him fat? Lorenzo huffed and he could see the faintest hint of a genuine smile across her lips. Lorenzo kept his mouth shut but looked at her with a look that was normally reserved for his worst enemies, to his surprise the sheep didn't flinch.

"Well alright if you say so just be careful" The officer tipped his hat to the pair taking a deep bow towards Melissa while giving a stiff and curt nod towards Lorenzo who simply looked at him with annoyance. "Have a good night Ma'am and sir" The officer walked past the two with Lorenzo waiting till he was down the street a bit before giving him the finger.

"Well I guess we're even now" Melissa's face had returned to it's scowl almost as quickly as it had come. An exasperated sigh escaping her lips.

"Why did you do that, Honestly I'm surprised you didn't avoid the whole thing. I mean a guy like me you could have given some trouble you know. So why didn't you?"

"I guess I felt i owed you from earlier and maybe just maybe i felt i had judged you a bit too quickly." Lorenzo couldn't help but fold his arms across his chest, a somewhat satisfied smile upon his lips. "Well really now?" he mused lightly to himself.

"I mean i still think you're wrong and i think you're a bit of an asshole and i think what you're doing is wrong, But i think you're trying to be good at least and i guess i can say that's something"

"Oh rethinking things huh, I'm guessing you couldn't say no to such a handsome mug as myself. I tell you all the ladies always come around with me. Even somebody like you" Lorenzo gave a flirty wink to her and he could see the sheep bristling before she let her shoulders slump in defeat.

"I suppose some people just can't be helped, I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure that small brain of yours is Utterly and irrevocably damaged." The sheep shrugged at Lorenzo who gritted his teeth.

"Well I guess chalk it up to today for a start, I'm just a misunderstood guy ,maybe I could tell you more about it over dinner?"

Melissa gave a loud snort of laughter. It actually sounded like genuine laughter. "You know what I give you credit for something you currently know how to make somebody laugh" Melissa took a moment to think to herself before pulling out a business card from some restaurant and quickly jotting down a number on the back. She shoved it at Lorenzo's chest who took it. "Here's my number, we can go out for one dinner and you're paying. Oh and one word of advice i carry mace in case you get any funny ideas"

Lorezno couldn't believe this woman. Honestly she was hot one minute and the next cold? He was a bit confused and despite the seeming reluctance of taking her out to dinner the beast part of him couldn't help but be hopeful things would turn out for more than just dinner. What could he say he was a guy with needs. He was a bit worried about her much smaller body, but he figured those things could come later. "See i knew you'd come around" Lorenzo laughed and took a moment to stretch with Melissa giving a groan.

"Don't make me regret this please" Alyssa started to walk away giving a simple wave of her hand. "I guess i better call it a night, tomorrow's another day, another day to see what this city has to hold, I guess. That plus i have class in the morning. She headed off in the opposite direction of Lorenzo's cart and he stood there for a minute thinking to himself. He couldn't help but feel a bit of relief, today had been one crazy night. One thing had come from it though he

has lost his appetite for real meat. At least for the night. It was probably better for him anyway. He laughed to himself, maybe that small arguing Sheep was good for something or maybe he had some f... nah He brushed the thoughts away and walked down the street to his car. He couldn't help but smile along the way. As he walked through the brightly lit Ghetto street.
