Prologue

"Sir, Sir, I've found something," shouted a villager who was working at one of the many dig sites somewhere in south America. A group of archaeologist had been sent deep into the jungle to investigate these mysterious ruins. They were discovered by complete accident, and the jungle cover was so thick that they could not be viewed by satellite. The archeologist's had employed local villagers to aid them in their efforts as there was only three of them, and the ruins were far too big for three people to investigate. "Let me have a look at that," replied one of the archeologist named Rob. The villager approached him and handed a circular object to him. He turned it over in his hands looking at the writing on it with a sparkle in his eyes. "I have never seen anything like this," he said as he turned and ran towards the main tent, which had become the command center of the project.

As he reached the tent and walked in, he found it to be empty. This wasn't unusual, because the other two were probably out somewhere in the dig. He picked up a radio and spoke into it. "Mark, are you there? Can you hear me?" "No this is Tom, Mark is in the field. What do you need?" "Tom, this is Rob. I have found something I think you will both want to see. Get back to the command tent as soon as you can." With this the radio went quiet. Rob sat down and turned the object over in his hands. It was odd, he had never before seen anything like it before. First it was made out of metal, and from the date that these ruins were constructed that just shouldn't be possible. The writing was odd, he had never before seen the writing before. Just as he was about to try and rub some of the dirt off of the writing, Tom and Mark walked into the tent. "Whats up Rob." Rob held the object up for all to see. "This is whats up. One of the villagers brought it to me." They began to examine the object with as much interest as Rob had. Mark picked the disk up and began to closely observe the writing on it. They all agreed there was no apparent purpose of the disk. It didn't even seem to fit the surroundings. "Lets see if we can't get some of this dirt off and find some answers," said Mark. As he began to brush the engraved writing it suddenly began levitating off of the table he had sat it on. All three backed quickly away from it, but still watched it with interest as the circular device divided itself into four pieces to form a rectangle. Mark was frozen in terror as suddenly a stream of energy suddenly connected all four pieces and formed what looked like a puddle of milk, only it was hanging in mid air. Then the cloudy puddle suddenly began to fade into more of a clear substance that resembled glass and an image of a forest was displayed. "What in the hell is that," asked Mark. He no longer felt any fear, only curiosity. He reached out to touch the newly formed window, he knew he shouldn't be, but he couldn't stop himself. He could hear his colleagues yelling for him to get away from it, but he couldn't stop. He needed to touch it. When his fingers came into contact with the glass suddenly his entire body tensed up as if an electric charge was running through it. He gave out a groan as he felt himself being pulled though the mirror. Rob and Tom were frozen in shock. The founder of the project Mark Simons had just been pulled through a mirror and was now gone. Rob ran outside the tent to raise alarm to the villagers to stop what they were doing. They would mount a search of the surrounding area. Perhaps he had been sent into the surrounding jungle. Tom carefully approached the now complete disk again. As soon as Mark had been pulled through, the disk rejoined and sat back down on the table. He was at a loss as to how to explain what he had just seen. Where was Mark?

Mark felt himself falling through the air. There was no time to yell, no time to think, no time to panic. As suddenly as the decent started, it stopped. Mark felt himself hit the ground and a terrible pain went through his head. He had landed in a clearing in a jungle, and on a rock. As his consciousness was fading, fear ran though him. He didn't know where he was, and he was alone, or at least thought he was. As he laid there, several strange creatures walked out of the forest to investigate the new visitor. These creatures were reptilian, in fact they appeared much like giant walking lizards. They were moderately clothed with bows and spears as weapons. They approached the new visitor with curiosity. They knew he is human from the before time. Seeing he was injured they picked him up and carried him back to their village for their healer to work with.

As Mark opened his eyes, the first thing that greeted his eyes was a dimly light room. He tried to move, but found the effort useless as his arms and legs were tied to whatever he was laying on. His head, however, was not. As he looked around the room he saw paintings on the walls. Each of them depicted scaly creatures helping one another. As he inhaled, the smell of leather and herbs greeted his nose, it was almost overpowering. As he looked around he became aware of another in the room with him. This was a scaled creature who was attending another scaled creature laying on a bed. When he got fully aware of what is going on he thought for himself: Where the hell am I? And who am I?
