Apologies to the people who have been kept waiting.

A brief power outage in a place in the Midwest might not be that big of a deal, especially when there was usually just a storm rolling through that was to blame.

In a place like Whittier, there was greater concern to be had, spurred on by the fact that they were in such a cold climate: if the power was out for too long, essential systems in the building ran the risk of freezing, especially in the dead of winter.

"It's not like Henry to disappear for such a long time," Chris pointed out, taking a sip from his drink as they sat and waited for answers, knowing that the emergency lights would run out of power after too much longer. "Did someone go after him?"

"I think Phillip and Hilda were sent out to go find him, but they haven't come back yet, either..."

Panic was always the enemy in an emergency, and Chris was adept at keeping his thoughts away from that, but even he was starting to worry about what might have happened to keep the trio away from the party for so long. It was entirely plausible that they got lost in the dark on the way to the utility room, but given how familiar Henry was with the building's layout, he was starting to suspect foul play.

It was the last thing anyone in Whittier should have had to wonder about, but the fear left Chris with twitching fingers as he turned his head back to the main exit of the cafeteria.

"Sounds like someone might have finally found them."

There was an expectation of calm as the double doors started to open, but just like the walls either side, those thoughts were utterly crushed. Doorstops were broken by the sheer force of Phillip and Hilda throwing open the once immovable slabs of steel, and behind them, the people in the cafeteria could hear someone more coming, thumping down the hallway with a cadence that didn't follow a human march.

"Everyone needs to get the fuck out of here, NOW!"

Something was wrong with Phillip's voice, as if he was fighting back the plentiful mucus of a stubborn cold. His message still rang clear in the hall, but people hesitated to move as they noticed what a panic he was in.

The naturally welcoming and friendly citizens of Whittier were their own worst enemies, as some of them tried to tend to Hilda, only to be smacked away by an unnaturally powerful blow.

"Didn't you idiots hear him? What the hell are you all waiting for?!"

The corrupted pair knew they only had precious seconds to get their words across before they completely fell under the spell of a tainted beast, and already, those seconds had gone by.

The army of the Illithid was already rushing through the doors, stampeding into the middle of the holiday celebration with an unceremonious purpose. Tables began to flip as the creatures turned their psionic powers on the unsuspecting citizens, and in the midst of the creatures assault, Phillip and Hilda appeared to be swallowed up, disappearing along with the rest of the crowds.

Chris no longer had the ability to keep his panic contained; it was pure survival instinct and disbelief that rocketed him up from his seat, and only a hint of tact that forced him to grab Naomi and Perdie each by the wrist.

"Bathroom. Now. NOW!"

He couldn't imagine that the creatures were able to understand what such a word meant, but one of the larger bathrooms in the common area had a janitor's closet that they would be able to lock themselves in, even if it was only a temporary measure.

Thinking rapidly under pressure, he ran for the doors and tugged Perdie and Naomi along, glad to feel them keeping up with him, instead of fighting the tightness of his grasp.

**

The janitor's closet had a steel door on it with a set of air ventilating slats at the bottom, giving someone just enough fresh air to breathe in case they were locked in the room on accident.

Already damming up the door and preparing for the absolute worst, Chris didn't want to take any chances, or allow another accident to happen.

"What...what the hell were those things? Did you see them?" Naomi couldn't hold back her panic any longer, having shaken herself into the corner of the janitor's closet. She wanted to close her eyes, hoping it would help her to pretend that all of this was some kind of a fever dream, but even when she closed her eyes, she could see the writhing tentacles of the illithid as they marched forth, easily overpowering the unsuspecting partygoers.

Perdie nodded with disturbing calm. "I saw a few of them, yeah. They honestly looked kinda cool," she admitted, only serving to put Naomi into a complete and vicious shudder. "I do wonder where they came from, though."

"Doesn't matter where they're from," Chris said. "All that matters is that we stay the hell away from them in here...there's a few snacks on this shelf that we can ration out while we wait for the emergency signals to reach Juneau, and hopefully, when they notice that the place has been without power or communications for more than 24 hours, they'll send some kind of rescue team after us."

"And if they don't?"

Chris wished Naomi hadn't bridged the question, but she needed to hear a comforting answer. He simply didn't know if he had it within him to lie to her in a moment of unparalleled panic.

"Then we pray that these weirdos take whatever it is they want from this place and leave, before we run out of food."

There was realism about Chris that knew they would only be able to survive for a week at most on the stock of food that they had, unless they were able to sneak out to get water from an outside source; there was none to be had in the closet itself.

If he had to drink from the toilets themselves, he'd do that before he willingly gave himself over to the creatures that had ruined their holiday party...but he was lucky to have that choice.

"Vida, i-in here! Quick!"

Ben held the door open, allowing Vida to rush inside, but they weren't quick enough to cover their tracks. Even as he was holding the door, a tentacle wrapped around his arm and brought him to his knees within seconds of the touch.

Vida was dragged in only seconds later; the pair were quickly tossed into the middle of the public bathroom, slumped together on the floor and twitching with an internal struggle that frightened Naomi, but somehow, it aroused Perdie.

"We've gotta help them," Naomi whispered, unsure of just how strong their sense of hearing was. "Isn't there anything we can do?"

Chris hated to do so, but he shook his head. "If we unlock this door, it's all over," he claimed. "It sucks, but...let's just watch and see what happens. We could be wrong about these...things."

He knew it was wishful thinking, but it was the only train of thought he'd allow himself at such a desperate time.

It was derailed so quickly that he felt silly for ever allowing it to cross his mind in the first place.

"Vida, n-no! Don't let it touch you!" Ben was already falling prey to his own sense of corruption, but he was forced to watch as tendrils pierced her flesh in multiple spots, turning her body into what should have been a pincushion...but there was no blood from the puncture sites, and she made no sounds of pain as globs traveled down through the extended tentacles bulged around their corrupting injections.

If anything, she was grinning, and by the time she was fully bloated with the forbidden chemicals, that devious expression was dancing from one ear to the other, drawing Ben in with a look that he'd never seen on Vida before.

"It's already touching you too, Ben. It's...already too late," she assured him, though there wasn't despair in her voice, the same as there was in his. "The best thing you can do is let it happen...embrace it..."

Her voice was already becoming tainted, like the slither of a snake being dragged through a jar of honey. Her tongue was starting to grow out past her lips as she tried to speak around it; Ben's face went pale as she drew closer to him, keeping him distracted enough for a series of tendrils to penetrate him from behind.

On either side of his spinal cord, talons pierced his flesh and began pumping him full of the same thick, unholy ooze that already coursed through Vida's veins. His skin bulged around the corrupting goo as it spread over his flesh, but the action didn't stop there.

As Naomi trembled with untold horror and Perdie began sneaking a hand down into the front of her jeans, Chris merely watched and winced, knowing that there was no act of heroism that would save them from whatever their fate was to be.

The sudden eruption of flames on their clothes nearly brought him to the point of throwing the door open and barging in, but just as quickly as they came, the dancing oxide of purple and lavender was disappearing, only taking the clothes from their body in the process. Chris looked closer, expecting to see terrible burns all over their skin, but there was only a little smoke and soot upon their bare flesh.

Their bodies were left completely naked by the enchanted flames, and as Perdie looked closer, arousal built at the crest of her womanhood, unbeknownst to Chris and Naomi.

"This...this is it..." Chris worried. He was scarcely able to keep his gasping to himself as he watched a host of tendrils move from the mouth of one illithid, encasing Ben's cock and wrapping it up with a slippery, slimy host of different touches...

...But from there, it wasn't the horrible, gory consumption that Chris was expecting.

"Is that thing..._milking_him?"

A host of tendrils that were able to grasp tighter than any set of human hands were already dancing and stroking at Ben's member, enticing it to stiffen up and offer itself to the creature as the second illithid focused on Vida. The presentation of what Chris had to assume was a dick was unceremonious, at best, but she was gazing upon it with drool running down from her lips, spilling onto her uncovered breasts and leaving her eager for more than a mere sight.

Within minutes, the corruption had spread so far and deep that the former couple were completely divided, forgetting about their partner in favor of a random creature that they'd only just met.

"I can't believe what I'm seeing..."

Chris didn't have to whisper. The mind flayers were concerned only with those that they had infected, and Ben and Vida were simply the next targets on the list. A full, throbbing cock was Ben's offering to his new captor, and as tendrils drizzled more of the corrupting juices upon it, his skin discolored and his body began to shift.

For Vida, the change started from the cheeks, as she eagerly wrapped her lips around the contorted, twisted tip of an illithid member. She would never have been satisfied with a mere taste, but even breathing was near the least of her concerns as she gored her throat on the twisted, bulbous rod of flesh, allowing her throat to experience every unique bump and knot along the shaft.

Her eyes closed as she embraced the mouthful, but when they opened, they were black, hollowed discs, just like the creature that stared down at her with untold appreciation.

"It's too late for them, isn't it?" Naomi asked, unable to watch any longer as she curled up in the corner of the closet.

"Y...yes..." Chris didn't want to admit the truth, but as he watched cum spray up into the air, soaking the face of an illithid and proving Ben's devotion to it, he knew that there was no way to sugarcoat the situation. "And if we don't shut up...we'll be next."

Perdie didn't have anything more to say about it; she let her body do the talking, as fingers dug into her passage and feverishly worked for her g-spot, wishing that she could trade places with Vida...
