#9 of A Modern Dragon Harem

Yep, one more chapter of this from this cycle. The plot thickens from the last chapter, and now? Now, it's time for Drac to start calling in some of his friends from across the country. Some people that had offered service before, mostly in play. Now, time to see if they mean it.

A Modern Dragon Harem Chapter 9: Calling Followers Sponsored by GlynWolf By Draconicon

The day passed quickly, as did the night. Anya was as eager to stay next to him as ever, and there was a little more flirtation than even the musk that remained in the bedroom could entirely justify. However, with Veronica sleeping near the foot of the bed when she wasn't keeping watch, and Janet doing the same, there was no real privacy for the pair of them to enjoy one another's body. That, and it just felt a bit strange to try and push that right at the moment, no matter how good it felt.

When morning rose, Janet and Veronica walked to the car. The soft grunts of complaint that his guard dog made as she left the cabin, kicking at different plants and swinging her cane around in frustration, would have been rather funny if the situation weren't as dire as it was.

You have the first move.

"They're going to regret giving us that," he muttered, leaning back on the chair and staring out the window as the two humans disappeared. "If there's anyone that can keep us all safe for a while, it's her."

"What are you talking about, babe?"

Anya. He looked over his shoulder, smiling slightly despite himself as the naked vixen stepped out of the bedroom. She was still tired, obviously, not quite happy about being up, but happy enough despite it. He patted the other chair beside him, and she sat down with a small thump and a wince.

"Owwwww. Still not used to the tails..."

"It'll take a while to get used to those. I'm still getting used to the horns."

"How many doorways have you run into?"

"Not too many...enough."

"Hehehehe."

He smiled at her, taking her hand and giving it a squeeze. She looked out the window, and he joined her. His eyes flicked across the trees to the mountain in the distance, and he wondered just how many people came up here these days. It had been rather quiet of late, and while it wasn't the height of the tourist or hiking season, he had expected to hear at least one car go by.

It was a hard line to find, the place between paranoia and justifiable caution, but he hoped that he was not being overoptimistic when he thought that they were still okay. Just because one person or group knew where they were didn't mean that everyone did.

And they still had the first move. They'd just have to make sure that it was a good one.

"So, what's the plan for today, babe? Why'd they head out?"

"Veronica and Janet, you mean?"

"Yeah."

"They're going down to one of the hotels at the base of the mountain. Veronica said she could get some more secure communications down there."

"Huh. Anybody you're trying to call?"

"Probably Ailsa and Engy, to start."

"Why them?" she asked, cocking her head to the side.

"Connections, and training."

"...You think it's going to get that bad?"

"I did tell you that we almost got blown up, remember?"

"I, um...was a bit distracted yesterday," she admitted, rubbing the back of her head. "I mean, we're together, we're us, we..."

The dragon raised an eyebrow, and Anya sighed, rubbing her arm.

"I'm getting all focused on the romantic thing again, aren't I?"

"Just a bit."

"Sorry."

"It's alright."

He patted her back as he let her lean on his arm. She pushed into him, nuzzling against his chest, and sighed.

"What's going on, then?" she asked. "I'll listen this time."

"Basically? I'm getting mystery texts from someone that knows where we are, and probably is responsible for trying to blow me, Veronica, and Janet up when we picked up Veronica from the airport."

Anya blinked, looking up at him.

"...Things are that bad? Really?"

"Really."

"...Oh...Wow..."

She slowly leaned away from him, staring into the distance and slowly shaking her head. He couldn't entirely blame her. If she hadn't been listening the day before, that would have been a whammy and a half.

Shaking his head, he squeezed her around her shoulders, pulling her back. She stared into the distance.

"Is it bad that I'm kinda scared?"

"Nope."

"Good, because it's a bit, uh, a bit more than kinda."

"Heh, trust me. That's pretty much the consensus at the moment. But that's why we're going to keep moving. Veronica's gonna get Engy and Ailsa on the line, maybe Zavis, too, and then we're going to get out of here and go somewhere safer."

"Okay, just...make sure that you don't let go of me, okay?"

"Afraid I'll leave you behind?"

"A little..."

He rubbed her back, pulling her a bit closer in the process. The fact that she was scared was entirely understandable, but he hoped that she'd listen from now on. He needed her to be able to handle this with him. If not...

Well, he needed support, too, as much as she did.

A few hours later, Janet called. The message told them to come down to the Motel 6 that was down on the east side of the mountain, just outside the park. Draconicon confirmed, and quickly came up with a spell couplet for it.

"Slave and master, travel faster, Nice and quick, to motel six, Silence abounds, safe and sound, Among the pair, one dark, one square. "

It was a quick little thing, one that he had put together as soon as he had realized just where they were going, and the magic seized hold. He held Anya tight to his side, allowing her to rest against him as they shimmered through the magical spell and field. The world faded, and then reappeared.

Neither Veronica or Janet seemed aware that they had come into being behind them. The vixen stifled a giggle, making as if to tiptoe up to the pair of them, only for him to grab her by her three tails.

"Gah!"

Her sudden yelp did get their attention, though. Janet jumped, pulling for a weapon, while Veronica grabbed her cane and started swinging it up.

Neither finished the move, thankfully, and both sagged with a sigh of relief.

"Don't sneak up on us like that," Janet grumped, putting her weapon back. "Seriously."

"You know I don't like surprises," Veronica added.

"Sorry. I just wanted to get down here quickly, and teleportation was the easiest way. Now, what do you got?"

They stepped out of the way, gesturing at a computer. It looked like she'd installed a VPN to the desktop, probably something that the company had set up for a conference in case nobody bothered to bring a laptop. It was not running on anything particularly high-speed, from what he could tell, but it was still a hell of a lot better than relying on the data network for their cellphones.

He tapped a few keys, and it asked for a number of different verification passwords. The dragon glanced out of the corner of his eye.

"So, how secure is this?"

"As secure as I can make it for a one-time use," Veronica said, grunting as she leaned on her cane. "Not much good after that; if someone's punching through airplane mode on your phone, I can't even guarantee this shit."

"It'll have to be enough. Passwords?"

She passed him a sheet of paper, and he started entering them as fast as possible. Anya was still holding back, and he could see Janet going over to talk with her. He hoped that the pair of them didn't end up fighting. If the vixen told the guard that she'd been the one to make him fuck her...

Well, if that happened, he'd deal with it as it came. Shaking his head, he opened up an incognito browser, and then brought up a few chat services.

"Engy first?" he muttered.

Veronica nodded.

"Alright..."

It didn't take long to get a connection to an old friend down in Tennessee. He was a little more impressed that his friend actually had much of a connection himself, considering how much he hated the internet down there. Shaking his head, he tapped on the keys, grateful that the spacing between them was better than the laptop that he'd left in his apartment.

Eventually, the retired naval officer typed back.

Draconicon: Hey there. Got something important to talk about. Engy: Hmm? What's up? Draconicon: Gonna pull Ailsa into this, too. Grab Zavis so I don't have to say this more than once? Engy: Uh...sure. One second.

"Here," he said, passing his phone to Veronica.

"Hmm?"

"Picture. Gonna need proof."

"Good point."

There was a soft click, and he had the phone back. He sent the picture to himself through email, and then opened a second incognito window, going into his account before pulling the picture down into the computer. It was risking the proper procedures a bit, he felt, but it was better than just sending the image without protection.

By the time that was done, the group chat was pulled up. Engy, Ailsa, and Zavis were all waiting, icons of a yellow dragon, a stingray, and a snake, respectively, waiting for him.

Engy: Got them. What's up, Master?

He smiled, shaking his head. What had once been just a social group had become something entirely different. A bit of roleplay had turned into a support group, a bunch of good friends...

And, admittedly, a kinky den of sex fiends underneath all that, but that was besides the point. They were good people, very good people that were part of a great group. But for now, they were the ones that he needed.

Draconicon: I'm sending you guys a picture. Ide might have blabbed already. Has he? Ailsa: Haven't heard anything. Zavis: What might the flashy otter have said, Master? Draconicon: Let's just say that there's been a change. I think you're going to like this.

With the click of a button, the picture was flying through cyberspace. It would take a little longer to reach Engy than the other two, but he knew that there'd be a pause regardless as they received the image and processed what it meant.

As he watched the screen, a slip of paper was pushed into his hand. He looked down, then nodded. Couplets to pull his people to him. Very good.

Nodding his appreciation to Veronica, Tobias, or whoever had come up with the specific lines, he turned back to the computer screen as the responses came back.

Ailsa: Well, I can say my ass is clenched right now. Zavis: I never had much appreciation for humans, but...well. Wow, Master. Engy: That...if that's real, that's not fair. Engy: I want that. Engy: I want that, bad. Ailsa: You think I don't? Ailsa: How'd it happen? What's going on? Engy: Is this some new art, or? Draconicon: No, it's real. And it's not exactly going great at the moment, I have to admit. Zavis: What do you need, Master?

"Trust Zavis to be the first person to just ask," he said with a chuckle. "They're ready, though. Definitely keen."

Draconicon: I need you guys out here. I can do it right now if you're still willing. Engy: What do you mean, if we're still willing? Draconicon: You're my friends. I'm asking if you're willing to let me pull the leash right now. This is something big, and I need to know you'll help out AND do what you're told if you come out here. Draconicon: Who's up for changing the world? Engy: Like in the stories you wrote for me? Ailsa: Or mine? Zavis: The world is messed up. Please, count me in. Engy: Well, me too, if...you don't think I'd be a burden. Engy: I'll try, but... Ailsa: Well, if it's real, what the hell? I was planning on getting out of here soon, anyway.

He smiled. That was about what he had expected, but it was great to see it coming together properly.

"Looks like they're all willing, at least."

Veronica nodded, looking like she was half-distracted by all the internal conversation going on. Her eyebrows were drawn down, one hand pulling at the edge of her many-pocketed vest as her eyes twitched slightly. He didn't bother questioning her about it. She was probably busy talking to the others.

Instead, he took the paper. He expected to see a bundle of different couplets, but no. This one seemed to be perfectly focused on just these three in one spell-poem. He cleared his throat, pulling at the power inside as he focused on the words.

"Calling 'cross space, shouting 'cross time, Drawing on those that call themselves mine Dragon on deck, stingray running free And bow-tied snake, I call to thee Your place is with me, here at my side Come safe, come now, on magic's tide. "

He knew what was going to happen, and he braced himself. If calling Anya across the world from Sweden had taken a fair bit out of him, this wasn't going to do anything better. It might be less distance, but it was three times as many people, and worse -

"Nnnngh!"

The dragon slumped forward against the keyboard, his teeth gritted tight as he felt the energy rushing out of him. The transformation again. The couplets had pulled out the energy for the transformation, just like it had done for Anya. He huffed and puffed as his legs started to go weak, feeling like someone was sapping his energy right out of him.

It wasn't as bad as trying to do it by will, not by a long shot, but this...This still was more limited than he was supposed to be. The real Drac could pull off transformation, teleportation, and more with just a wave of his arm. Why was this so...so inefficient compared to the real thing?

Figure it out later. You have power. Maybe it just needs time to grow.

It was probably the instant thing, too, this time. He was calling them straight to him in an instant rather than over the course of an hour. It wasn't a spell that could build up. Instead, it just...pulled.

And they appeared, popping into existence one by one, already mostly transformed. Their human features had almost been completely eclipsed by their more anthro ones, and all three of his friends were staring at themselves.

Engy, heh, was probably the most shocked, particularly as he hadn't just changed species. One of his arms had fallen off, and a metal one was taking its place, thick and heavy, looking more...detailed, now, than it ever had done in the art references that his friend had shown off.

A blue bathrobe just barely managed to obscure the other dragon's crotch and balls, though they were still visible as a bulge through the fabric. Thick legs and arms showed off a good chunk of muscle, and he could see the stare of shock and relief that went through his friend's eyes as he realized that he'd bulked up as well as bulked out with this particular transformation.

The barefoot yellow dragon reached behind him just as his wings surged out, a shaky laugh falling from his mouth as tears formed in his eyes. As his tail slithered in, his mouth pushing out, it was clear that Engy was happier than he had been in months.

Behind him was a mostly-formed stingray, one that was purple-skinned with lighter tones along her neck and along her belly. Her head was horned, almost demonic in appearance, but with enough of a ray hood to take the sting out of it. Her eyes were dark, and her smile wide as she looked at her hands. A marine's uniform was gradually fading away, leaving nothing behind as she stood there in nothing but her skin.

Not that it was any less intimidating. She started bulking out, and he realized that the phrase 'running free' had probably applied slightly more to one of her other body types that she'd shown over the years. One that was thicker, buffer, more muscular rather than the more slender or slutty ones that she'd gotten. Didn't stop the breast growth or the dick growth pushing out between her legs, though.

And at the end of the line, a snake that had already transformed. Zavis stood there with a body of olive green, speckled with the rosettes of a python, and the slightly flat lips of a snake that seemed to be smirking almost all the time. He smiled, his body a muscular hulk of scales that was restrained by an aura of good manners. He stood with his hands clasped behind his back, bowing slightly as his body took on the form of a bipedal serpent.

Veronica rolled her eyes, giving Zavis a playful poke.

"Lizard."

"A little mud-wriggler, compared to our master," the snake said with a small chuckle. He looked down at the cane-wielder, cocking his head slightly to the side. "Wait, that - Veronica?"

"You bet your ass."

"Wow. Looking better than I thought you would."

"...Shaddap."

"This...we're..."

Engy's eyes were wider than one could imagine, holding one arm of metal and one of scales in front of him. He couldn't stop looking between them, and when he wasn't staring at them, he was staring at himself, opening his robe and feeling along his chest, his belly. He muttered again and again about muscles, about how it was so real, how it couldn't be, but the soft squeaks and pants told the black dragon that there was no way that he was unhappy about what he'd gotten.

Ailsa, on the other hand...

She walked right up, poked the black dragon on the nose, and then reached into his robe. Her eyes widened slightly as she gripped his dick, her hand not quite wrapping all the way around it.

"Fucking - wow. That's bigger than I thought it was."

"Hey!"

And just like that, Anya was right there, the white-furred vixen growling as she slapped Ailsa's wrist gently. She wrapped all three tails around him, putting herself between the stingray and the dragon.

Before she could take it too far, he grabbed her by the shoulder, pushing her down a bit, his fingers rubbing along the side of her neck.

"Ah ah. Hold on, dear. We agreed, remember?"

"Mmmph..."

Ailsa was blinking, the stingray just staring until Anya did back down, moving more to the dragon's side rather than standing in front of him. Thankfully, it didn't take long for Anya to go from possessive to embarrassed, rubbing the back of her head as she looked down at the floor.

"Sorry. I just...I forgot that we're all...under him," she said. "I didn't hurt you?"

"No, but...fucking hell, you're cute."

"Cute?"

"And hot. Didn't know you were that much of an exhibitionist, though."

"Exhi - oh fuck, I'm still naked!"

Anya jumped behind him, hiding behind his back and muttering about not being there, about how nobody could see her. The sudden break in tension got a laugh out of everyone, ranging from Zavis's slight smile and shaking shoulders to Veronica almost collapsing over the table. It was so badly needed that they all felt better afterwards.

But much fun as they were having, Draconicon knew that they didn't have a lot of time. Two humans had snuck into the hotel and made a communications uplink. Now, it was two humans, two dragons, a snake, a vixen, and a stingray, and most of them didn't have much in the way of clothes.

"Alright, guys, time to get out of here. Janet, Veronica, you have the ring and earring?"

They held them up.

"Good. Now. Here's the situation, guys. The short, short version. Draconicon, apparently, was real, and he turned me into a version of him. I can use magic, there's someone else out there that really doesn't like this, and tried to blow me up. I want to deal with them, but we gotta build up first. Find a place to hold out, fortify, plan. You guys with me on that?"

"Question." Ailsa held up her hand, and Draconicon nodded at her. "Diiiiid I get my magic, too, when I got this body?"

"I have no clue."

"Why not? You made it happen."

"Do you think I understand all the magic just because I'm Drac now? Heh. I'm still experimenting."

"Fair enough." Ailsa cocked her head to the side. "Engy, you up for trying out some corruption later?"

"Hey, hey. Focus." Draconicon shook his head. "Safety first, games later. Now. We have a car outside. We're going to take that partway to Boulder Cave. It's a conservation cave for some bat species out here, about a half hour drive down the road. We're going to hole out there for a while, and we're going to work on expanding the depths of the cave so that we can build something for ourselves. Everyone with me?"

There was a series of nods around him, including a very approving one from Veronica and a couple of confused ones from the rest of the group. Some confused glances at Janet, too, who seemed to be doing her best just to roll with the insanity. He approved of that.

"Now. The ring?"

Veronica handed it over, and he held it out.

"This is a ring of invisibility. Janet has an earring that does the same thing. She's going to walk us out, one by one, to the car, and then bring the ring back to take the next person out. We're going to drive partway to the cave, walk the rest of it, to make sure that we don't leave a car trail for anyone following us.

"Once we get there, we'll figure out what to do next. Main thing is, they're giving us the first move, and I want us so dug in that they can't just drag us out."

"Sounds like a bad move, Master," Ailsa said. "We dig too far, we're not going to be able to get back out."

"Let me worry about that," Veronica growled. "I know how to make this thing fucking impenetrable. And with his magic? No way those fuckers are getting to us."

"That's the hope. Everyone good with that?" he asked, panning his eyes around the group.

"Well, I - sure. Why not?" Engy said, slowly smiling. "I mean...I feel better than I have for months. You gave me...all this...I can give it a try. And besides, if we're like this, maybe we can make things better."

"Heh." Ailsa smirked. "I'll go with it. But I better get a chance to have some fun, too."

"You know that I will follow any order you give, Master," Zavis said.

"This is scary, babe...but I'll do everything I can," Anya added.

"We already talked about this. I can't back out now," Janet said, sighing. "Much as I kinda want to..."

There were many glances at him after that, all of them with the same sort of questions in mind. Who was this woman? What was going on? Why was she there?

Draconicon just gave them all the same answer. He would explain later.

Janet took Engy out first, and then Anya. When she came back for Ailsa, the stingray was leering down at the human, only to get a flick on the dick when she tried something. The stingray laughed before she disappeared, and Draconicon shook his head.

"Zavis?"

"Yes, Master?"

"Would you mind giving me and Veronica a second?"

"Not at all, Master. I'll find something interesting on the walls, I'm sure."

The snake hummed to himself as he walked away, allowing the dragon to turn his attention to his guard dog. She looked strained, and he sat down on the computer table. She leaned against it beside him, taking a deep breath.

"Hurting?" he asked.

"Yeah..."

"How bad?"

"Pretty damn."

"You need a new body."

"I need four," she muttered. "Ones that actually fucking fit us."

He looked down, then held out his hand. She looked at him, then looked away. Sighing, he put his hand on hers.

"Give it over."

"What?"

"You wrote up a spell already. Give it."

"You're tired."

"I'm going to be tired all day, every day from here on out. We both know that. So, might as well give you what you need while I still have some energy instead of putting it off forever. Besides, you know you'll be more helpful if you're not fighting your own body all the time."

"...We hate it when you're right."

Sighing, she reached into her pocket, pulling out not one, but two slips of paper. Then, before he had a chance to read them, she started slipping out of her vest.

"What are you doing?"

"I don't know about them, but I'm not fucking going naked."

"Heh, fair point. No way that you have enough clothes for everyone there, though."

"That's what the other piece of paper's for. One for us, one for copying clothes."

"...Are you sure that you're not the one in charge?"

"Uuuugh, don't even joke about that..."

He chuckled. She never did like to think about being in charge. There were times when he understood it, times when he teased her, but he never took it further than that. Shaking his head, he looked down at the initial spell. A small smile crossed his face, and he shook his head with a chuckle.

"You really are a poet, you know that?"

"It's what you need, so we do our best," Tobias said. "Now, do you mind? There is a draft."

He glanced back at them, shaking his head at the way they stood with their jacket just barely covering their crotch. Hair pulled back in a braid, lean, a bit impatient, and...and just a bit afraid. Almost like they were scared that this opportunity would be ripped away from them before they could have it.

Any hesitation he felt about doing the spell now disappeared. They had waited for years for the chance to be themselves. He wasn't going to deny it from them any longer. He pulled at his magic, feeling the shivers of tiredness running through him as he started to read their spell.

"One is four, and four is one. Now the separation's begun. What has been will be no more: One is one, and four is four. "

He felt the pressure of the spell building, and he could already tell this one was going to be a big one. The dragon growled into the next line, unable to help himself as he pushed forward.

"Minds joined, jumbled, and twined, Souls twisted and combined, Become what always you should be, Become separate and become free. "

Yep, it was a big one. The energy was already building into a rumbling ball inside of him, begging to be released, and it took as much energy to contain it as it did to summon the spell in the first place. Long spells...long spells were going to be a problem. He forced himself to keep going.

"Victoria, my bouncy kangaroo, I give to you a body that's true. "

The image of a gray kangaroo, soft, sweet, slightly older, but smiling like the sun popped into his head. He allowed himself a respite of a view of her paws before he continued.

"Vivian, so shy yet so bold, Form of opossum or brave kobold. "

Yes, Vivian. The soft, little one with a beautiful smile and brilliant eyes, so shy, so fierce. He remembered her, and held her in his mind before moving on.

"Veronica, with the fiercest blep, I make you my guardian German shep. "

The first he knew, the one in front. Gray-furred shep, powerful, loyal, always striving forward to be better. He struggled, pushing forward, feeling the spell spiraling, trying to break free.

"Tobi, my Dobie, be true to your form, Hard yet soft, cold yet warm. "

Sunglasses. He could not shake the sunglasses on the image of the Doberman in his head, a warrior who would never put down his honor. The spell was rattling through him, and he knew it was going to break free soon whether the spell was done or not. He grabbed the paper, rattling through the rest as fast as he could.

"Separate but same, four but one, There will be no void, the battle is won. You need the gentle touches of mind, So I give you the comfort of thoughts entwined. Each to their self, but still not alone, Unless you choose to be on your own. Your minds shall still touch, so long as you will, But you will be apart, and yourselves still. I give you the lives that you desire, By my will and my soul's black fire. "

And with the last line, the spell broke, and the dragon slumped back, gritting his teeth as it ripped the energy from him. One voice split into four, and finally, it was done. Four in one had become four in true.

The End
