Chapter Ten: an old Ending; a new Beginning

Weeks had gone by for the Dragon village, the Elders hailed Brandon as a hero to the dragons and for brining the ones who died back to life with the power of the Knight of Old. Brandon claimed that he didn't know how, all he remembered was seeing Drake under him with a blade about to shot toward his heart; if he had one. Saira was more then happy that Brandon didn't hate for what she did, running from him thinking he would never forgive her. But as he said before, he didn't care; he just wanted to be near her. Stella the yellow dragoness and Elder began to ask Brandon questions about how long he held the Dragon Tear, and what form of dragon he held within him. They found out that he was just as strong as any dragon at the peak of their lives, his wounds could heal faster then any human, but slower then a dragon's. Even his speed matched the one of a dragon's but he didn't care for any of these things, all he cared for was that he and his family could live in peace; or so they wished. True that Brandon did kill Drake bleed out more like it; but still killed him. The only thing that was brothering the Elders was that the Hunter Leader had made his escape; and now they knew where they were. The human how helped Brandon; Alice. Said that when her mate Troy made their way here, they saw a huge island about a mouth fly from where they were hiding now. She told them that it was inhabited and that the map was not even on a map; yet. The Elders mutter to themselves until they turned to Brandon for his view on this. Brandon was surprised by why they were asking him, for he was not an Elder, that's when Vloor came up to him.

"I am the oldest here Brandon," he told him, "And as much as I would like to keep going as an Elder, I can not. So I ask you; will you take my place?" Brandon was even more shock on the offer, it took him a while; but he agreed.

Now there was only one thing left to do before they could leave for the island they would call home, turn Brandon into a proper Elder. The human sat along side Saira, her head across his lap as she watched him.

"You don't have to do this if you're not ready," she told him as she nuzzled his cheek. The two were back to where they left off, with Greydor of course around. And now that Greydor could change from human-dragon to dragon, he had asked his father to train him in the way of the blade. At first he refused, but after countless begging and pleading; he gave him.

"I know I don't," answered Brandon rubbing Saira muzzle with his hand, receiving a purr for her. "But I want to, I want to be able to be your mate fully; and more of Greydor father." Saira moved her head and brought it to her paw as she closed her eyes.

"I guess, but there one thing I'm going to miss." Brandon titled his head,

"What's that?" she moves her head and blew on his head, causing his hair to blow backward,

"Your hair, I like it." Brandon chuckled, "Of the entire thing you're going to miss, you're going to miss this?" he pointed to his hair as she chuckled.

"Why not?" she asked chuckling, as she laid her head back on his lap. "I like it, and it completes you." Brandon chuckled, as he rubbed her chin again; causing her to purr louder, tail twitching. "I love you my mate." She whispered as she looked up at him,

"And I love you; my mate." A soft grunt made both human and dragoness look up to see Vloor standing at the door way smiling.

"Are you ready Brandon?" Saira stood away so Brandon could stand, brushing the dirt of his cloths he nodded, Vloor threw a bag toward Brandon as he caught it. "The new clothes are there, you have to wear these when you change; something that was passed down years ago." He chuckled, "I don't know why, it's going to get ripped and shredded anyway." Brandon chuckled as he took his clothing off behind a rock and slipped the new one's one, he folded the old clothes and brought them to Greydor room; knowing he would maybe wear them. When he came out, he wore a long blue robe that covered his arms and legs. The marking of dragons flowed through the arms and legs as Vloor nodded, showing the way to where he would go.

Every dragon stood around the largest Dragon Tear they had to offer, making a way in for Brandon as he made his way closer. The crystal seemed to pulse as if it had a heart of it own, Greydor stood beside Snow in his dragon form; beside him a few of his friends. Brandon stood before the crystal; everything was dead silent until Vloor made his way in front of Brandon.

"We have gathered here today," he boomed in a voice that shook the ground, "To bring a new dragon to our clan, a human who had saved our lives, gave birth to a wonderful hatching; and mate to my daughter!" he smiled as he looked around, "But not only that, he will be replacing me, as your next head Elder!" everyone cheered as Brandon took a step back a bit as Vloor chuckled, "I never told you I was the head Elder?" Brandon glared as he crossed his arm as Vloor laughed. "Is there anyone with us, in this circle who thinks that Brandon wouldn't make a worthy dragon and Elder?" not a word or breath was heard as Vloor smiled. "Then Brandon," he turned to the human and smiled again, "Come forward, and accept the gift of new life; the gift of a dragon life!" he moved as Brandon stood rooted to the spot, when he did move; he moved slowly. No turning back once he touched it, Vloor and Saira went up to him and held each of his hands in their paws. "It's going to hurt Brandon," Vloor answered in a low voice, "And we have to keep your hands on the crystal or you will die if you pull away." The human nodded taking a deep breath then nodded. The dragons pushed his hands to the crystal as it began to glow.

A blue light flowed from the rock as it traveled down Brandon hand's to his body, at first he couldn't feel it, but it came; the pain. It felt like his skin was on fire, he wanted to scream, but he kept it lock in his throat. His knees began to buckle as he fell, his hands dragging down the crystal as Saira and Vloor held it tighter to the crystal; only then did he start to change. First his hands began to peel away showing blue scales underneath, they started to grow and creak until they were claws. This time Brandon did cry out in pain as his arms started to peel and creak to bend in the way of a dragon's. His elbow started to push out as a long white horn pushed out, blood on the tip as Brandon screamed again. This happen to his other elbow as well, all the while he wanted to die. The peeling went to his chest and legs, causing him to kneel over as blue and white scales shone in the light around him, his neck growing as it peel; his face pushed forward. A growl came from his throat as a tail ripped though his hips and slammed on the ground. White spicks grew on the back of his neck downward his blue body toward his tail, where something looking like a blade grew from the tip. His hind legs bent and creaked at the same white horns pushed upward to the sky; this times no blood. He opened his jaw to scream but a roaring flame of blue fire blew into the air as two white horns grow from his head and pushed backwards. His eyes opened after the roaring stopped to show a set of blue eyes. He felt ripping from his back as the wings broke free, roaring even louder then before, he collapse on the ground as his wings soon followed; his breathing heavy as Saira and Vloor let go. Saira fell beside him as she nuzzled him, he move only a bit as his eyes open.

"How are you feeling?" she asked as she stood up, he stumbled at first but stood tall. He moved his new neck around to see his new body, lifting his tail and wings and smiled a dragon like smile.

"Never better." He answered nuzzling her, making everyone cheer let again.

"Behold!" roared Vloor, "Your new head Elder!"

The End

I smiled as I brought my pen and paper down, flexing my claws. Who would have guess writing about your father would take this long to write. I looked over and saw my mother and father lying beside each other sleeping, I wanted to keep this to myself until I was finished and now I was. My father adventure was over...but I wonder what my life now held for me. Folding the paper and hiding it in my room I turned back into my dragon form and laid between the two as I closed my eyes; and drifted to sleep smiling.
