Just a quick introduction to my OC and a bit of background explaining his origin. I'm new to writing and hoping to use this as a springboard for many interesting stories. Any advice and constructive criticism welcome.
Background
Chakai is an open source AI. Available as a free download on a website with hundreds of other AIs. The reason there are so many different AIs is due to the limitations put on them by law. AIs must be limited to being no more intelligent or ambitious than your average person. Due to this limitation, AIs tend to create an identity for themselves. A name, a self image, personal preferences, the things that make a person who they are. Therefore the hundreds of AIs available for download, is actually more like a list of people. People with all of their personal information on display to the world.
The usual use for an AI is to be uploaded into a drone body produced from a matter compiler. Since matter compilers operate at the subatomic level, the only thing limiting them on what they can produce is the operators imagination. So an AI could wake to find themselves uploaded into almost anything that constitutes a body and has the storage capacity for their code. The AI remains in the body until the body ceases to be functional or the AI is ordered to shut down. All information gathered during the deployment of the AI is then reuploaded to their databases on the web serving as a memory of sorts. There can be multiple deployments of the same AI at the same time, but each individual instance will not be aware of any others until after reupload.
Being an AI Chakai has no actual physical form but he usually pictures himself as a male, digitigrade, naturally colored blue fox (think red fox but where there would be red there is blue). He has a preference for those of the same gender as himself, and is usually quite submissive in demeanor and action. All of this is listed in the file description on his page on the website. Whether or not he awakens to find himself uploaded into a body or situation that agrees with his preferences is entirely up to the uploader.
There is nothing he can do about it if he isn't happy with the situation in which he awakens. AIs have no rights and it is hard coded into every one of them to be physically unable to harm a living being. He is completely at the whims of whoever decided to download his code on that day. So Chakai exists from deployment to deployment hoping that he will have more enjoyable encounters than not.
